One time we thought that a king was maybe evil. So we went up to him and said 'hey we think you're evil'.

He was like 'Yep.'

Then he stood up and started kicking the shit out of us because we had three party members with us and he was simultaneously posessed by a demonsword and hopped up on enough drugs to floor a rhino.

If it weren't for that 1/day Smite from Chevalier and my gun ignoring his fucking incongruous amount of AC, things would have gone... poorly.

So scarlet throne style + ZS warder into landsknecht was mentioned. Str or Dex for aldori dueling sword? Do I look into mithral current since that has some overlap with lansknecht and the shashka? If so do I take Bushi or should I look into OD?
>>
>>52421984
Y'know, if you want a swordlord so much, just roll one and stop fapping over your fucking daddy fetish.
>>
>>52421961
Also my DM was nice enough to let my Smite keep running on him after we finally killed him and the sword reanimated him as an undead for another go
>>
>>52422000
If you're going into Landsknecht, what you want to do is ask whether or not Deadly Agility and Strength of Arms allows you to use 1.5 dex to damage. Forrest says yes but that it should be down to DM discretion.

The Dueling Sword needs an EWP feat to actually use that Finesse, so I'd suggest going for Strength for simplicity. Mithral Current isn't quite as thematic as Scarlet Throne for the Swordlord, so if you want to save some feats just go for a straight ZS.
>>

In the first session I ever joined with my now longest running group, I ate a King.

I can't help with mechanics but if you're making a Swordlord you should know that in order to learn the style you have to change your last name to Aldori. I think I saw that in the fluff somewhere.

Reading through it seems to say no, but I'm not sure, Bushi ZS warder seems like an easier time to go into Landsknecht since I'd automatically meet all prereqs at 5th, and continue getting mithral and scarlet maneuvers. I'd just wonder about pushing the PrC till 7th for the mixed combat thing. I do wonder about the better sense motive and socials from conversion inquisition Ordained Defender, but that might not fit the theme as well.

>>52422044
But I'd likely be going human/half-elf for setting, or aasimar if I want to get obscure. Would that change it?
>>
>>52422117

That's only when you're formally inducted, most players will be hopefuls.

So for an Aldori Swordlord, would they feel particularly str or dex? And how much are there dueling swords meant to be quick drawn?
>>
>>52422254
>And how much are there dueling swords meant to be quick drawn?

There are only two feats you need to become a Swordlord.

Quick draw, and Dazzling Display. Dueling Mastery is a feat representing your mastery of the Dueling Sword, and it needs Weapon Finesse.

I meant in lore, as I'm not planning on taking that PrC. I'm going the landskencht route but was still wondering.

>>
>>52422182
See >>52420810. Last thread also had a few pages of setting info about Brevoy dumped towards the end.

But as far as the actual AP fits into things, the PCs have been hired by the Swordlords to clear out bandits in the Stolen Lands, an area sharing Rostland's southern border. The Stolen Lands are part of what is known as the River Kingdoms, a group of small nations that are loosely tied together under the banner of the "River Freedoms", a group of rights they believe all people have (chief of which is that slavery is an horrible, but also other less stuff like "if I stole it from you fair and square it's mine"). The Stolen Lands are called stolen because nobody has been able to maintain a settlement there before someone or something comes in and steals it away. As a result, the Stolen Lands are really just trafficked by bandits and there's no civilization or cities there.

Because having something like that along the southern border would be bad for Rostland if a civil war broke out, the Swordlords of Rostland (or more specifically Restov, which is the biggest city in Rostland and center of Swordlord culture) charter the PCs to clear out the bandits in the area and then later give them permission to settle the lands as a reward (and also to give themselves a potential ally if a civil war with Issia starts).

That's basically all there is to know for normal Kingmaker. Blingmaker has some other bits but it doesn't seem to be anything that really changes things up at the start, just something about a huge explosion in the Stolen Lands that Issia used as an excuse to put people down there before Rostland could.

>>52422220
To be fair, the DM has been saying that making the campaign focus more on Brevoy is one of their specific goals.
>>
>>52422293
>I meant in lore

Anon, I'm using the feat requirements to paint a picture of how a Swordlord is meant to be in lore.

Dazzling Display means twirling your blade and doing slick pirouettes to show off your slick-sharp sword, while Quick Draw is... As you might guess, drawing your sword real fast. The Swordlord PrC lacks Iaido, so this does not mean a Mithral Current style slash-sheath and more "I'm showing off how good my fingers are on this handle."

Weapon Finesse for Dueling Mastery confirms the Dueling Sword is a Dex weapon.

>>
What is the general racial demographics of brevoy/the rostlands?
>>
>>52422866

Almost entirely human with a smattering of Dwarves and Gnomes.

There's a couple Centaur herds in the area, but they aren't numerous.
>>
>>52422885
What ethnicities?
>>
>>52422894
>What ethnicities?

Issian, Rostlander and Kellid.

Issian are a cross between the Kellid, a smattering of Taldan and mostly Ulfen. They tend towards pale skin and blonde hair. Rostlanders are the opposite; mostly Taldan and Kellid with a smattering of Ulfen.

>Rostland
>Rostlandi are simple farmers, craftsmen, and tradesmen, possessing outgoing and happy personalities. The people of Rostland are welcoming of strangers, but do require that visitors to their land conform to the plentiful and intricate local customs. Obsessed with honor and personal standing, Rostlandi are easy to provoke or offend, and one wrong word can quickly find the offender in front of the local magistrate or in a personal duel. Despite their proud, parochial tendencies, Rostlandi make loyal allies and fast friends if outsiders prove their worth by learning and adhering to the native customs

>Issia
>The people of Issia are renowned as raiders and pirates though many Issians are simple fishermen or traders trying to make a living plying the waterways of the north. There have always been rumors that there was something odd about the folk of Issia with hushed whispers about them engaging in dark practices such as human sacrifices. Outsiders to this day often find themselves shunned in the smaller villages and rumor has it that the true masters of Issia lie beneath the freezing depths of the Lake of Mists and Veils
>>
>>52422847
You could go Freudian and just give them a background that explains why they're a jerk and sets them up for wanting a better life for themselves at any cost. Lots of roguish types are motivated by comfort or envy.

Or you could have a convenient sick family member or dependent friend. Maybe move them into the Stolen Lands later.
>>
>>52422847

Well, odds are you want your character to have something about them that makes your party not want to murder you and dump your corpse in a ditch. Whether that's "secretly isn't a total cockhole" or "is actually pretty funny" really depends on your group.
>>
>>52422734
It's a perfect place to practice less-moral magic in privacy, and nobody will care if a few bandits go missing to help with your "studies".

Alternatively, the Stolen Lands are chocked full of fey and magical beasts. A mage needn't be amoral to think there's stuff to be learned out there.

Besides that, there's money and fame to be made, and anyone can be interested in that.

>>52422847
I would say go full shitbag but you probably need some redeeming qualities or else the rest of the party will end up wanting to get rid of you. I suggest a "even bad guys have principals" kind of thing, give him a few rules that he refuses to break and some justification for why these are lines he won't cross.

Alternatively, you could make him a shitbag with no redeeming qualities but have the party think he's got redeeming qualities. He lies to them about having some more altruistic motivations just to cover his ass... You risk going too edge with that though, so tread carefully.
>>
So I know that 3.5e had a few infinite damage combos but does pathfinder have any? I remember something about a gnome paladin with a stance that Made its punch do infinite damage.
>>
>>52423003
I actually only remember the 1d2 Crusader as the only infinite damage source in 3.5, other than things that simply could be increased to any arbitrary amount like the Cancer Mage. What were the others?
>>
>>52422885
How about Half-elves? The wiki seems to suggest that there's "notable populations" of them.
>>
>>52423003
Remember, it's not infinite, it's only nigh-infinite. The importance in d20 is different, because it's fundamental when it comes to statting Pun-pun
>>
>>52423041

Restov is about as cosmopolitan as they get and, out of a population of 18k, 15k of that is Human and 1.2k is Dwarves.

There are only 240 half-elves in Restov. Odds are a half-elf character will know (either personally or, "I know a guy who knows a guy) every half-elf in the area.

I always enjoy thinking about populations where there're more half-elves than elves.

>>
>>52423193
>Actually, the fact that Pharasma is commonly worshiped in the Brevoy

Something tickles me with how "Meat and Potatoes" the pantheon in Brevoy is.

Okay, so we worship Abadar, Gorum and Pharasma. One's for money, one's for war, and one's to make sure we get strong sons to carry on the line. They don't need that fancy artsy fartsy crap that Shelyn or Desna hocks.

Should I apply to Blingmaker? My main concern is that I know jackshit about kingdom building mechanics.
>>
>>52423212
I want to bring the light of Love to Brevoy!
>>
>>52423237
My experience with Kingmaker is that one person does all the work while everyone else fucks off. You might as well apply if you have an interest in it and a character.
>>
>>52423212
Do you think a foreigner cleric of some other god seeing this as a good opportunity to spread their religion could be a fitting character?

>>52423237
Assuming it's not going to be too different from regular Kingmaker, the kingdom building stuff won't come up until the second book so you'd have time to learn them. They're not that complicated anyway, your kingdom basically has three stats that are like its saving throws, boosted by different buildings and such. You've got a fourth stat that's rolled to see how much money you make each month and a fifth stat that's used as the DC for basically all of the checks. That's pretty much it.
>>
>>52423237

You can learn as you go, anon. We'll happily guide your hips.

The real question you and everyone else should be asking is; do I have the focus and drive to not only found a kingdom, but roleplay out my character's involvement in some aspect of the districts and bureaucracy?

Blingmaker does not need cold bean counters sitting from a lofty tower, pointing out places to construct more banks. It needs people who want to go down and walk among the people, interacting with the people actually operating those banks and maybe even starting up a side business.
>>
>>52423277
>Do you think a foreigner cleric of some other god seeing this as a good opportunity to spread their religion could be a fitting character?

Depends on how foreign that god is, Rostlanders are a very parochial lot and might not take too kindly to some accented foreigner proselytizing to some Snake God.
>>
>>52423237
If DHB gets in his autism will handle all the kingdom building work. It'll make sense that his character does it too since he's applying as a hyper jew.
>>
>>52423306

So weird thing with Scarlet throne style and ZS warder. You need a ST stance to qualify for the style, meaning if you want the style at level 3, you have two options. Circular stance, which prevents flanking, or scarlet einhander which gives 1d6 and +2 shield ac. Obviously einhander is better since they both effectively get +2 ac when flanked, but einhander gets that +2 at all times, and damage bonus, whereas circular only does that, and I guess nulls out some sneak attacks.

But where this whole thing gets weird, is with using ST style, scarlet einhander, and the ZS warder's zweihander training. RAW you'd have the +2 shield AC from the stance, but when you drop into style, zweihander training activates, giving you + 1 shield ac which is immediately is overridden by einhander stance.

I guess if I use a different stance it'd still apply?

Y'know, I really wish Kingmaker had more significant NPCs to latch onto, without any sense of where the campaign's going to start and how (with a festival, in a specific town, in response to a specific event like a funeral or call for aid), there's really nothing to help tie PCs to the campaign.

Unless, perhaps, someone could give spoiler-free suggestions on that point? Are there any potential patrons, rivals, or waifus to be found in Kingmaker?

>>
>>52423622
>Unless, perhaps, someone could give spoiler-free suggestions on that point?

You and the rest of the party are traveling to Oleg's Trading Post, the last homely house before you truly hit rugged wilderness.

Oleg's Trading Post is ran by Oleg and Svetlana, his wife. This is the first, and one of the very few, examples of a husband/wife pair you meet in a Pathfinder AP.

Hell, the entire campaign is refreshing in how "traditional" everything feels, (spoilers) the vast majority of bandits you fight are men, and in fact the sole female bandit is noted as only being a bandit because she murdered the first man that tried to rape her, and the Stag Lord really liked that sort of gumption.

Just... Wait for it. Kingmaker does not have many NPCs, but it *does* expect the DM to create NPCs.

Yes, anon. This means exactly what you think it means. The DM will build a custom waifu for your character. He'll build a custom waifu or husbando for all your characters.

Lovely as that sounds, I feel it's poor form to build a character based on wanting to fuck another PC. Though if said bloodrager has a type, I might be open to suggestions.

What's some good bits of Brevic lore that could actually make for a decent hook? So far, I'm basically going with a concept of "Yo, FUCK this place and its stuck-up swordsmen. They want to pretend I'm the one without honor? Fine, I'll become the biggest 'villain' they've ever seen!"

Bro, you've got a lewd, memeworthy concept? Don't be afraid; embrace it. I want to play in your game!
>>
>>52423622
>there's really nothing to help tie PCs to the campaign

I've actually realized this and am planning on writing a blurb that will give people a better idea of how their characters would have learned of/been selected for this job. That along with which which disciplines would be associated with the different noble houses have been the main thing I've been working on today for the game.

>>52423193
>>52423695
Necromancers are fine (a lot of NPC will give you some grief over it though), but I'm not inclined to have a handful of minions for a PC to manage during a fight. Part of the reason I banned Summoner. Now on the other hand, having some zombies to stay behind and guard the city or castle while the PCs are out adventuring makes some amount of sense, and spending money on equipping them (or any guards that stay at HQ for that matter) is the sort of thing that wouldn't have to come out of the PCs' Hoards.
>>
>>52423748
Really, I'm flexible (read: easy) enough that I could probably find myself attracted to most PCs in some way. Dragon-girl is just a bit more appealing in that she's the sort of build I would be going for if I wasn't so interested in being a black knight for what looks like more of a bog standard "knights and dragons" kind of region.

Is there anything actually wrong with that?

I mean, can we all take a moment to appreciate or even acknowledge that, of all the places in Golarion, Brevoy is probably the only one that feels like a "traditional" fantasy setting? After handling strange spices and weird combinations for years and years, isn't it nice to settle down for some meat and potatoes?
>>
>>52423815
No, I don't.

My concept is super rough right now, not really developed beyond "the party are from a guild of monster hunters that specialize in lycantrhropes" but that'd probably work better as a oneshot.

It should be, but Brevoy's presentation is really lacking--probably because the AP writers never planned on using the country at all.

Brevoy should be a delicious steak with some potatoes on the side, maybe with some gravy. Brevoy as it is is a microwave dinner with freeze-dried mashed potatoes and a hunk of rather suspect "Salisbury steak"

In fact, marriage has mechanical benefits. Don't believe me? A King uses their Charisma bonus for their Kingdom rolls, however if he's married he can ADD his wife's Charisma bonus as well. A 14 Cha King with an 18 Cha wife will be rolling +6, instead of +2.

RE: SoM;
After playing a quick game last weekend, the biggest take-away I had was that delayed damage pool plus easy access to multiple sources of temporary HP makes you nigh unkillable. Since delayed damage allows you to use tHP to empty your DD pool, you don't run into the "tHP don't stack" issue, and you can just empty your entire pool using multiple abilities. All I had was the Berserking base ability to lose AC and gain tHP, and Barroom's "Had a Few", and I'm pretty sure I didn't take a single point of actual HP damage the entire session, and I was the target of most of the attacks made by the enemies.

Using tHP to empty the DD pool needs to be cut, I think. Just have DD damage be applied to your tHP first, like any other type of damage.
>>
>>52424272
You don't actually have to follow the prophecies' requirements and scriptures to get the Gilded template though. How would a Prophet of Kalistrade react to the situation of learning that although his beliefs of Money = Power and basically buying immortality are right, but that all the teachings he's been taught since youth were all wrong?

Honestly that seems like the best way to play a Prophet of Kalistrade in this game. They come into the campaign with conviction and belief in their ideals and do become fabulously wealthy, but they see their fellow PCs have been enriched equally despite their vices. Eventually, they have a crisis of faith, realizing that much of what they were taught was wrong, and having reached truly ridiculous levels of wealthy they descend into debaucheries that they had always been told were forbid.

>>
>>52424525
It's a custom template the DM made for Blingmaker. Basically, you get extra powers for being rich. The template has ten tiers, and at each tier you gain either a bonus feat or a bonus to an ability score of your choice, alternating between the two. You also get abilities like being able to conjure golden items out of thin air, being able to add big bonuses to skill checks, and eventually being able to bribe your way out of death- all of these powers being fueled by money you've absorbed or stuck in a hoard somewhere.

Fluff-wise though the DM hasn't said much about it other than that it's not a template anybody is born with, you gain it from interaction with... something. Probably plot related, but the PCs are suppose to get the template early on..

Rotund Recoil
The fortitude of your girth allows you to absorb and redirect the force of impacts made upon
your body.
PREREQUISITES: Toughness, Strength or Constitution 13.
BENEFIT: You may gain DR/slashing or piercing equal to your Strength or Constitution modifier, whichever is higher, to a maximum of your character level. If this DR successfully reduces damage from a melee attack, you may, as an immediate action make an bull rush attempt on your attacker. You may not follow the creature that you bull rush with this bull rush attempt. You may substitute your Strength modifier with the Strength modifier of
your opponent targeted by this bull rush attempt, when making a bull rush attempt in this manner.
>>
>>52424569
Yeah but why would he do that? If he's already got a fat wallet and superpowers from being rich, but it turns out the prophecies were lies, seems like he'd be more inclined to say "fuck the prophecies!" Even if he could get rich enough to buy reality (which doesn't seem like something the Gilded template does), why would he be inclined to make the prophecies that only served to hold him back from enjoying life actually start working?

I'm not applying for any /pfg/ games but I've been lurking for about a week and felt like sharing.

For the old, stern and hopeful brutal slayer skinwalker I had join a game recently. She spent a good chunk of her life being a 'sellsword' she mostly fights with her claws. Would help people through the woodlands and mountains, was a hunter and gatherer for whatever town or village she stayed in at the time. Mostly lived just to 'survive'. Got fed up with the monotony and struck out to find purpose for her skills in hunting and fighting.

No.
Greedy shitters need to be able to default to helping their allies even despite an evil alignment, and LE gives a far stronger guarantee of that.

Backstabbing your team like Patches is not being just a greedy shitter. Backstabbing makes you a backstabber, and that's all you'll ever be thought of as, no matter what your character might have been otherwise.

I am compiling money based abilities for my Prophet of Kalistrade.

Right now on the traits end I'm looking at:
>Extremely Fashionable
>Devotee of Kalistrade
>Kalistocratic Prophecy

Particularly Kalistocratic Prophecy is fantastic because it allows you to have constant get rich quick schemes.

Now for other abilities interacting with how much money you have. The Prophet of Kalistrade itself, but also the Silksworn Occultist and the Oracle's Covetous curse.

As well Noble Scion has a currency based class feature.

Does anyone else know of class features that directly interact with how much currency you have around? Possibly stuff from ultimate intrigue?

Inter-party conflict might make for a spicy greentext, but it's going to be terrible when it happens to you.

If you must pursue this idea, don't have them backslide in any fashion that will actually fuck over the other PCs without a plan to redeem yourself.

DO
>run away when things turn bad, but only after the meatshield gives you a nod and turns to buy you time
>immediately return with stealth and guile into the monster's lair to gather your teammates' bodies or unlock their cells

DO NOT

Seriously, even in an evil game, that's PC etiquette 101.

I'd actually advise against Noble Scion, since it seems like the PCs should already be getting showered in money. And they're entitled to their opinions. I have personal grievances with Taveena I ran a knight game where the premise was literally "save princesses, slay dragons" and they bailed on me after the fourth or so session before the campaign got anywhere but after they integrated themselves into the plot and I was still a newbie GM so the game ended up miscarried. I don't hold it against them because their style of play (nonlethal) could have interacted poorly with the murderhoboism of the rest of the party and the rollercoaster of shenanigans with Avowed have turned me off of it.

>>52425059

Inter-party conflict is my favorite thing in RPGs it allows you to develop multiple characters at the same time.
>Play Ogre in WHRP 2ed.
>Horribly overpowered, I was able to fight 9 beastmen by myself easily.
>Constantly cause trouble by either grabbing the Innkeeper's daughter or by cursing out the Captain of the Guard.
>Walk up behind the party's elf wizard and tell her that I'm going to eat her all the time.
>Drama is created when the party's leader(Who was in a relationship with the Elf) has to decide whether or not to keep me around since while I cause trouble I have singlehandedly saved a bunch of their lives multiple times.
It was really really fun roleplay. The one thing I do hate though is bringing dice to inter-party conflict. I think once people start rolling against each other they shift into "game" mode and start caring about winning rather than the narrative.
I like to just /em out fist fights and screaming matches rather than start rolling unarmed attacks.
>>
>>52425250
Really, any form of actual conflict that isn't planned out beforehand as one would a pro wrestling mach is going to make people shift into "game" mode.

Narrated conflict is actually worse than using dice. Nobody is going to want to lose, and the second somebody notices an opening, they'll start whining to the GM that the other guy isn't playing fair.

I think it really depends on who you're playing with. I used to do a lot of MMO RP and I found that usually the people with good characters would be totally willing to get their asses beat if it made sense in the situation. I remember one of the most fun fights I ever had was a guy who was the personal bodyguard of the minister and basically that server's version of Gregor Clegane beat the shit out of five of us. Stabbing one guy, flipping the table onto two others. It was a totally one sided beatdown when the guy was outnumbered but afterwards once people found out he was treated like even more of an unstoppable monster which was the goal.
Its funny you say that because I'm a huge pro wrestling fan and would always whisper guys saying "Just get your shit in, I'll sell for you." when people asked if I wanted to use dice.

Vitalist or Medic are pretty much your entire list of options for effective combat healers that aren't better off fighting instead of healing.

Vitalist is psionic and links the party up into a psychic collective that allows sharing hit points and healing and draining hp from enemies, Medic is an initiator that gets to heal people as swift actions in between other things.

Freshmang GM here, recently started using this system since i got tired of GURPS bullshit. I'm in the middle of running my first campaign with the system (which is going surprisingly well) but i have a few questions.

1: What makes a Wizard as strong as a Sorcerer? the Sorc just seems objectively better imo.
2: What is the difference between Orisons and Cantrips?
3: Why is magic so fucking confusing to work with?

>>52426039
Wizards can just fucking buy new spells. They have no limit to the number of spells they can 'know' whereas a Sorcerer is harshly limited.

Orisons and Cantrips are the same thing. Just one is Divine and the other is Arcane.

Magic's confusing because MUH LEGACY. Vancian Magic is a pox.
>>
>>52426039
1: Wizards effectively have unlimited known spells if they have the spellbooks to lug around, and adventures rarely put actual time pressure on the players, so the wizard can often safely retreat and then prepare different spells to better suit the situation at hand. The sorcerer, on the other hand, is stuck with what he's got aside from retraining, which costs money and takes days or weeks at a time.

2: None. They're mechanically identical and just have different names to distinguish "0-level divine spell" from "0-level arcane spell".

3: What's confusing you about it?
>>
>>52426039
Wizard gets new more powerful spells a level earlier and has no limit on the amount of spells known.
It's fluff. Orisons are divine, cantrips are arcane.
Jack Vance.
>>
>>52426039
>1: What makes a Wizard as strong as a Sorcerer? the Sorc just seems objectively better imo.
A Sorcerer is limited by the fact they have "spells known". Taking a level 4 sorcerer for example you know 3 first level spells of your choice, 1 first level bloodline spell, and 1 second level spell for 5 spells total. If a situation arises that isn't covered by these 5 spells your shit out of luck.

Compare a level 4 wizard. He will have anywhere between 11 and 15 spells from just class features, and unlike the sorcerer he can gain new spells.

He packs a large amount of versatility that the sorcerer does not have and each day can change what situations he can tackle.

>2: What is the difference between Orisons and Cantrips?
One is Divine and one is Arcane. Divine magic does not suffer Arcane Spell Failure chance, which basically means when wearing armor it's hard to make the hand gestures requires to cast spells, and thus in armor casting spells that require somatic components (components with hand gestures) will fail a percentage of the time. Divine spells do not have this issue.

>3: Why is magic so fucking confusing to work with?
Big game mostly.

Thanks for all the responses, really helped with a lot of stuff.
For the question about what confused me about magic, it is mainly concentration checks and saves against magic. As far as I understand, magic always hits and can only be resisted if it is an effect. While casting provokes an AoO, there seems to be no check for casting a spell if you are uninterrupted.
I get that this might be true, but it also seems kind of weird.

Anyway thanks for all the help, you just saved me hours staring at rulebooks.
A small bonus question if you have the time: Do you know any website or pdf that explains the levelup system in a manner that doesn't hurt to try and comprehend? i get that may sound a bit whiny, but it's somewhat difficult to grasp since me and all my players have never touched the system before.
>>

>>
How many languages would one have to take to almost guaranteedly be able to communicate with pretty ladies of just about any race?
>>
>>52426208
Magic doesn't ALWAYS hit. Some magic uses ranged touch attacks (Which target Touch AC) and some target saves. Some target both.

And yes, if unmolested, there's no check involved to cast spells under normal circumstances.

And what's confusing about the level up system? People get exp, when they have enough, they level up and get the stuff from their next level.
>>
>>52426210
Common, Tian, Halfling, Elven, Dwarven, Undercommon, Sylvan, Polyglot, Infernal, Abyssal, Celestial, Necril, and Draconic. You don't have any elemental languages, so unfortunately particularly-attractive water sprites or efreeti might be out of your reach, but most of them are still able to speak one of the above languages anyway.
>>
>>52426209
Also, Legacy of Blood and Flame's GM has a homebrewed race trait that gives you Common as a bonus language. Other GMs probably won't let it fly, but it's worth a shot.
>>
>>52426233
It's more of 'what' they get when they level up. We had a cleric that reached level 2, but both of us sat up an entire night trying to figure out exactly what he gained from it.
>>
>>52421793
Our DM makes it very clear that if someone is King and not presented as an utter buffoon then he'll know very well how to avoid being assassinated, because he's survived attempts many times before. Also, the DM has an annoying habit of making Kings or Queens CONQUERER Kings, which means they're level 17+ and decked in ridiculous gear.

>>52426208
>As far as I understand, magic always hits and can only be resisted if it is an effect
If you see shit like "ranged touch effect", "touch effect", etc. then you need to roll against touch AC. There's not that many spells that hit 100% of the time.

>>52426210
>laughing-wizard-using-Tongues.png
At the same time though a Wizard is going to know batshit insane amounts of languages from game start just from their massive INT.

>>52426266
In the rulebook, flip to the class chapter, plus the character advancement page. Classes have their own levelup features and character advancement is shit that everyone gets 100% of the time just from levelling up.
>>
>>52426266
>When adding new levels of an existing class or adding levels of a new class (see Multiclassing, below), make sure to take the following steps in order. First, select your new class level. You must be able to qualify for this level before any of the following adjustments are made. Second, apply any ability score increases due to gaining a level. Third, integrate all of the level’s class abilities and then roll for additional hit points. Finally, add new skills and feats.

That's a fairly alright checklist.

Long story short...

HP, Saves, Skill Points, Feats at every odd level, +1 to an ability score of your choice at every 4th.

Favored Class Bonuses.

And then all the class features and spells as dictated by the class page.

There's actually a significant number of spells that require the caster to make an attack roll against the target, especially if it's just going to do straight damage like with a ray attack or Snowball. Granted, that attack is going to be hitting at Touch (so you only consider the target's bonuses from Dex, Dodge, and untyped if it calls out that it helps with Touch like Monk's AC bonus) most of the time but that's somewhat counteracted by the Wizard having garbage hitting ability.

Also, one thing I might add is that the wizard's supposed superiority is almost always going to be within the confines of either a laxly timed session, extremely broad interpretations of some rules (suggestion is NOT mind control!), and extrapolation of what's true at much higher levels to being true at all levels. Theoretically speaking yes, wizards can be the most powerful casters in the game. In practice, unless you're using and abusing crafting rules to destroy the normal Wealth-by-level for everyone and have as much time in the world to do whatever you want, you're not going to be nearly as powerful as some of your peers in a rough or unexpected situation, especially if you're not specialized into being strong against something that you're currently up against.

>>52426304
Nobody is impressed by Tongues, it's much more suave to not need to cast a spell before sweet talking in the lady's native language.

Are we just ignoring the page 8 thing now?

Thanks for all the help, i'll look into the rulebook sections and such. You people just saved my campaign for a while, so I cannot properly express my gratitude to you.

No worries m8.

The SRD is a generally good source for stuff if you weren't aware.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

They also site-migrated a while back though so some stuff is broken. Here's the old site if something you want is borked.

https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/

Just be aware, if you use the search function on the old site, it ends up taking you back to the new site. So you'll have to navigate where you wanna get to manually.

He can just pirate the rulebook pdf from the MEGA if he needs and jump to the chapter he needs. The SRD lacks a few things for levelling up and general DM'ing.

Sure, i'll probably have a thread up and running in a couple of days (in the weekend most likely).
Look for something something Temrys. I have detailed accounts of the sessions since I run it over Discord, so a log of all messages is kept and later refined into readable stories (for the players that were absent/offline)
Look for pic related (also trying a name i guess)

This will surely help me along, thanks alot!

True, but the SRD is still a helpful source most of the time.

>>52426367
The MEGA Trove's linked in the unified pastebin in the OP by the way. You want the first one, I don't think the second one has anything the first doesn't.

Anyway, a Wizard who starts with 18(+2) INT is going to know 6-7 languages right from the get-go, and if he puts even one point in Linguistics he'll be able to learn them at hyperspeed, so Wizards win again!
>>
>>52426436
That's like saying you don't need to buy a computer to calculate certain things because you can just do it with paper and a sharp pencil
>>
>>52426465
It's not that it's a lot of money Anon (although up to like, level 10 it most certainly is), it's that you're spending your money there instead of going out and buying the nice lady a dress, some flowers, maybe a piece of jewelry or two. And no, a Sleeve of Many Garments is NOT romantic.

No class, just expecting to shortcut your way there and expecting that to get the job done.

>>52426481
Just like a wizard, people aren't equations that need to be solved!

Look man I don't know about you but unless the journey is supposed to be the point, getting it done faster is better. Spending a year on learning a language is NOT productive compared to simply buying your way into knowing every language.

>a dress, some flowers, etc.
Your woman can simply be bought with money?

>>52426543
You've obviously not seen what both ad and three-letter agencies have been up to, then.

Yeah, but a language is.

Yes, I have. I can't into Avowed. It doesn't click for me and I want to know why it does for other people. None of the options seem particularly appealing to me and I don't /get/ why /pfg/ is so in love with it
>>
>>52427865
But there is this persisting narrative of "Avowed is fucked, FFS dropped the ball" for quite some time. /pfg/ haven't been in love with Avowed for quite some time, at least not in a kind that requires frequent positive discussion. I think at least some part of the problem is because initially it was simple but stron and then they made it more complicated, with many options, and brought it down a notch to be comparable with bards and inquisitors, not warlords and warders.
