Part of the aesthetic is the glorification of the human form.

Just look at any power armoured human, they go out of thier way to show they are human, sculpted nipples, abs, hips and tits.

We are humans look at us and tremble.

Then Marine show up and fuck up the thing with their non human crap.

>>52392897
No. Blanks just make the warp harder to bleed into the material plan. It will be easier to kill, but it'll come back all right.

It is extremely hard to completely destroy a demon. Even GK that use their true names only banish them for so long.
>>
>>52392950

>>
>>52392960
Blanks are very rare.
So many blanks at the same place may imply death by brain damage to any astropath who would try to get to their world.
>>
>>52392628

>It is extremely hard to completely destroy a demon. Even GK that use their true names only banish them for so long.

It's one of the reasons the GKs have a vault of Tesseract Labyrinths. Sometimes imprisoning a Daemon is better than Banishing.
>>
>>52393000
>HH
There's the problem. And i know all about the ''writing''. I meant they are literally genetically his grandsons.
>>
>>52392960
For starters, Psykers, even though they are rare as fuck (although becoming more and more common by M42) are still much, much easier to come by than Blanks.
Second, their psyker genes can be actively used, with powers and shit. SoS have more of an aura thing. And even then, a proper demonic invasion will roll over them, they can be overloaded.
Might as well take the big dudes that can fight like no others and shoot sacred flames on top of that, if you want to survive.
>>
>>52393000
>HH

When you start taking anything concerning Empy or Chaos in the HH seriously, you know you're plain wrong. Shit's a mess.
>>

So if we are going to pick and choose what parts of the lore we consider correct. I'll say Goto books are the best example of marine and Eldar warfare.
>>
>>52393048
Mate, how about you read the damn books that features them before opening your mouth?

They can be overloaded and overwhelmed by sheer numbers. So no, it wouldn't work.

The biggest problem is that the retard ''writers'' completely missed the point that what makes 40k so grimdark isn't just the present, but the fact that there was a potential for an eternal golden age with a legitimate messiah figure, and now his works are perverted and he's a corpse on a throne. It made it that much more depressing, especially with that constant shred of hope that ''Everything could still be alright, The Emperor just needs to come back'' that made it all the more painful.
Now, instead, you have autists writing The Emperor as increasingly more evil and detached (and less powerful), his Imperium as increasingly more corrupt and rotten during it's golden era, his sons as increasingly more fallible manchildren, and the Chaos Gods as increasingly more powerful and in control.
At it's best, 40k was a story about how the parasitic gods of chaos had to get their shit together and covertly take down The Emperor, who was far more powerful then them, because he was gonna fuck their shit up. Then they gorged on the remains of his works.
Now you have them as being these all powerful deities who were always in control and The Great Crusade was of no consequence. I heard some autist claim how they're actually only diverting a miniscule fraction of their attention to the Materium.
The way it's going, The Emperor is gonna turn out to be a daemon prince, the whole thing a ruse, and in the next edition the entire universe is gonna just be one of Tzeentch's many dreams.

tl;dr: every edition Big E is weaker, less noble and benevolent, and less of consequence, the chaos gods are more powerful, important and in control, and the writing gets worse.
>>
>>52393142

The most recent codex, the current canon, does not refer to them as blanks, or not having souls, rather that they are "doomed to have their essence devoured" by Slaanesh.

Well, I'm posting it every time this question is asked. Love fire warrior's aesthetic. They look like perfect future soldiers. Actually, I can't find a good word to describe it. They have everything that is needed to call them futuristic but still they feel somehow lite and consistent - 10/10 as a basic infantry model

I can speak a bit for Elysians as they are my regular opposition, they suffer from paying a lot for Deep Strike and war gear having older more expensive costs, mostly visible in Veteran Doctrines. They are fun to play against so long as they don't load up entirely on Vultures but there's this weird mix of taking no AA against them is annoying but every time I break out a Stalker the game is entirely in my favour. I think there was a point in maybe 6th edition where they could do a powerful list but we had paused playing during 5th ed.

The one that comes with the Power Maul combo does at least. It gives them 5++. The codex is misleading, it says only in close combat, but the FAQ says they get it all the time. Of course it just makes them 60 points.

>>52394306
I like the grenade launcher and I like ripper guns, but 12 inch range is bad. If both were either 18 or 24 inches, they would be way better, but slow movement with short guns is not a great combo.

I would appreciate a cheaper upgrade cost. Power Maul and Brute Shield is great, but 60ppm gets pricey fast. Power Maul plus Slabshield would be nice too. I personally like 4+/5++ over 3+ though. Too many Knight Battle cannons and Grav and Plasma shit out there in my meta for 3+ to ever do anything except let me down.

>>52394415
I think 3+ in base contact with a 5++ with the +1 cover for units behind mechanic would be all right for the Slabshield. Maybe the Brute Shield could give a 4++ to make it a worthwhile upgrade.

Played a cool game of Admech vs Orks, one Mek killed my Dominus, my Knight and a squad of Ruststalkers. Still won, just. Turns out a 25% points handicap and taking every possible upgrade inc. grav against minmaxed FW Orks is about a fair fight. Dominus got the hero play and punched the Knight from 2HP up to full with the Uncreator Gauntlet, which let me kill his KillBursta and Kustom Battle Fortress.

I could agree with this a lot. I think that would improve them a lot too without having do anything to the kit. 40 points base would be good and maybe 10 points for a Power Maul, while the Brute Shield was a free upgrade.

As for Ogryn, I'm not sure how to fix them. If they don't have access to shields or upgrades then they are just stuck with 5+ armor. Lower their cost to 25 or 30? I guess they could be 30-35 if the Ripper Guns gave them Rending or Shred or something. Or even if Ripper Guns were like Assault 4, 18/24 inch range with Shred on the gun.

So much this. That's why I want their guns to be better to a point where they are worth taking. Another problem is that for 40 points you can get an Armored Sentinel with a Multi-Laser so they would have to be different enough from that kind of unit too. Thinking on it more, my ideal Ripper Gun would be Assault 4, 24 inches, S5 AP- with Shred and the Ripper Guns give them Shred in close combat. They would end up being like a Punisher tank kinda.

Instead of supporting fire, when an enemy declares charges against a Tau Empire unit within 6" of a Kroot unit, the Kroot may declare a charge against the charging unit.

To the guy who posted his first Space Marine list last night

You could easily turn 10 of the 20 unbuilt Marines into Sternguard. You could either be as simple as a different paint job for the helmets or you could buy the guns off bitz sites. That's what I would do.

As for the usefulness of Sternguard, yes they are basically tacticals with special ammo, but that ammo is amazing. You have an AP3, 2+ poison, an extended 30" range and a ignores cover round. The fact is that no matter their non vehicle target is, it will be effective. Most of the time you're gonna be firing off that 2+ poison, and remember bolter drill allows you to reroll 1s. So you're hitting on 3s rerolling 1s, wounding on 2s. From Terminators to Monstrous Creatures. The other ammo is pretty specific, but the AP3 ammo Gets Hot! However you reroll 1s so you have a very insignificant fear to use them compared to other chapters.

There's a First Company Formation that would allow you to just take 3 Sternguard in Rhinos with a special Fear bubble and Fearless.

You will usually be outnumbered, but looking at your list the unit that's going to be doing most of the heavy lifting is your terminators. You have decent support behind them, but their only front line support is tactical Marines. If that terminator squad is handled either by destroying it or tarpitting it, then your army falls apart. The tactical Marines don't have enough damage potential to support the terminators. Sternguard would certainly be better, but even then I don't think they could provide the support needed.

>>
>>52395125
At 1850 you really need some heavy hitters. My brother runs a semi competitive very elitey and vehicle heavy Iron Hands. It has no anti air, but in our meta you announce a flyer and the opponent can go back in and edit his list. Flyers are very rare in our meta

>Iron Hands exactly 1850
>Armored Task Force

3 Vindicators

1 Las cannon Predator

1 Auto cannon and heavy bolter predator

1 Thunderfire Cannon

1 Techmarine Servo harness and a relic

>Strike Force Command

Catafractii Captain (Smash fucker 3.0)

Command Squad with champion and apothecary

>First Company Strike Force

3 Sternguard Vets in Rhinos

>Honored Ancients

Iron Clad Dreadnaught in drop pod.

There's so much more to work with here because he has 3 Vindicators which chunk S10 AP2 large blasts. His front line is centered around the command squad and Smash Fucker, but he's supported on the front line by a dreadnaught and 3 Sternguard. The artillery coming from the far back matches your Devasator squads (but Iron Hands get bonuses to vehicles while you get bonuses to Devasators so don't think you need to spam vehicles because of this example.) Your Devasators dish out more fire power but his vehicles always dish out the same fire power even with 1 Hull Point left. But he also has a Thunderfire cannon as well which is also extremely versatile.

The key difference in these lists is that he has his deathball supported by 3 Sternguard squads as well as a Dreadnaught and 3 Vindicators. You of course have a flyer but it has to land at some point and it will attract every fire from everything in range, especially if you want to charge those terminators the turn they get out. But those terminators aren't charging until turn 3 at the earliest. The Iron Hands list has no objective secured, but he has enough fire power to blow any tactical Marines off an objective if they needed it.

Direct comparison aside, you need more dangerous shit on the board at 1850

Also magnetize your Crisis Suit weaponry.

Magnetizing is easy, buy some 1 or 2mm x 1mm magnets, get a drillbit the same size, drill a hole the depth of the magnet in the plastic, drop a dab of glue in the hole and push the magnet in till it's level with the plastic surface. Repeat the process on the other thing you're magnetizing, and be sure to arrange the poles properly so that they don't repel each other. An easy way to do it is once your first magnet is in, stack a bunch of magnets together (no glue) and let them grab the one you've glued in the hole. Now take the gun you want to stick onto the arm and drill a hole in that the same depth, put a drop of glue in it, and very slowly and gently push it onto the stack of magnets. Once the end magnet of the stack is partially in the hole, detach the stack from it so you don't accidentally glue more than one magnet into it, and push the magnet fully into the hole.

That's the easiest way I know to magnetize something. These are the kind of magnets you should get:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100X-DISC-Neodymium-Rare-Earth-Magnets-2mm-X-1mm-N48-/252459374810?hash=item3ac7c058da:g:4WgAAOSwwE5WZ7zb

Be sure to magnetize before you paint, so it's not conspicuous on the finished model.

Yeah. My dream for using Orgyn/Bullgryn is to load up a few with Slab Shields in a Valkyrie, fly them into enemy lines, and then drop them as a shield wall for some Scions and drop sentinels to make a mini fire base of sorts.

That aside, I feel like giving them Shred is still putting them in a similar role to Multilaser sentinels. It'd be nice to having pinning and make them more support-based that way, if everything wasn't immune to it.

GW was evil a long while ago due to their CEO being a piece of shit asshole who ignored facts to try and model GW into some shitty model company.

>people buy our models for the models, not the game.

The new CEO is bretty based
>>
>>52395204
Heck, the worst part of GW isn't GW. It's the investors. The investors are the absolute worst, since because of them GW isn't allowed to lower the price on individual model kits.
>>
>>52395166
That could be fun. I have 3 Slabshield Bullgryn, but I just got 3 more. I want to make all of them Power Mauls with a Priest and Primaris Psyker in a Chimera and speed up the field. I feel like if they go alone they'll just get shot to death so I wonder what other units I can speed up with too.
>>
>>52395144
>A blob of T-shirt save birdmen have joined the combat with extra attacks

It would work so long as everyone still ends up in one combat (assuming charge distances are made). Essentially, get the enemy into base to base with the Tau, then have the Kroot charge them.
>>
>>52395236

That CEO was/is part of Kirby's team.

>>52395267
Don't blame GW for taking advantage on a monopoly, Blane Warmachine and Infinity for having absolutely horrific and less business and advertising knowledge than a freshman MBA student.

GW has no real competition so no need to lower prices. They do bundles, but why lower your price when the closest competition is many many rungs below you?
>>
>>52395288
Which is fine because there's probably a reason they made him CEO, he obviously does something well. Just not being a CEO of GW.
>>
>>52395341
No, GW literally isn't allowed to lower their prices without massive lawsuits. They do the bundles to trick the investor retards, because they think big cost = more profits. The investors think this is supposed to be some sort of child's toy thing, not a hobby.

>>52395288
And? He's certainly better than Kirby.
>>
>>52395341
It's still a good idea to have some cheap options and ways to reward people for buying in bulk. That's just good business sense.

Having start collecting boxes that are a good value helps encourage people to get into the hobby, and people also might buy that bundle instead of just one unit from it individually.
>>
>>52395386
>GW literally isn't allowed to lower their prices without massive lawsuits.
Who told you that?
>>
>>52395341
To utterly destroy the competition?

My complain is not about the prices (if they are high or low) is about how random they are.

On a side note, why the fuck does GW still have Stock for SoB? They sold every metal model for scrap, but some how kept a SoB stock that lasted a decade? They are either pulling an apple and making the stock run out artificially to keep people interested or they are still making metal SoB.
>>
>>52394961

>>
>>52395386

>>52395390
Which is what they're doing.

>>52395416
>to utterly destroy the competition

The competition must make themselves resemble a threat before you want to lower the value of your product to destroy your competition.

They are random though. Which is odd.
>>
>>52395236

>investors said do X

I read this all the time and would be grateful for a source.

Unless a person or group holds a majority share they literally can't tell GW to do shit, though they might have influence.

And "never lower prices" is something I've never heard in the business world. If a company had research to show lowering prices would net more profit/market share that's precisely what the 'investors' would 'tell' them to do.
>>
>>52395416
I don't think they scrapped the SoB, for whatever reason. They're probably just trying to sell all of them before releasing plastic sisters.

>>52395436
I don't believe you.
>>
>>52395341
>GW has no real competition so no need to lower prices
While true, GW already has lower prices on a per model basis than practically all competition, and certainly than all important competition. The only thing that makes 40k expensive is the model count, but that's not technically on GW: they only set the prices, not make you buy more models. They have kill team and Newcromuna coming up if you want low model counts.
>>
>>52395442
t. anon that actually knows what he's talking about
>>
>>52395442
"Never lower the prices" It is common when you agree to fixed share for x time. Usually no more than a couple of years, because fixing prices for many years is a sure way to fuck up.

So either the story is bullshit or GW really is another level of incompetence. The fuck send their luxury products by regular mail. Make what you want of that fact
>>
>>52395459
There was a movement before the kill team revival towards higher and higher point games with larger models and more units. It's good they dialled back on it when they still could though, since they'd risk having to become like fantasy where you need hundred of models for even small games.
>>

Youch, sick burn.

I am conflicted though as I deeply love many of the things GW have made and continue to do, I just find myself feeling apprehensive with how heavy handed they can be. The fact they make so much inventory exclusive to their personal online store does irk me as it is allowing them to be a monopoly. But like a fool I buy from there, coz shiny shit. At least they are showing signs of being open to the community as well as how much podcasts love to suck that big 'ol knob.
>>
>the Black Templar upgrade kit has been sold out for at least two months

why
>>
>>52395446
The thing is GW sold the left over stock of metal models as scrap when they turn to failcast.

That is why SoB are odd in that regard. Specially when they run out of stock and then are back in stock. Like I said it is either a huge stock that never got scrapped for god knows what reason or they are still making metal models just for SoB. The last option being more strange than anything.

How much over stock can GW of SoB? Makes you wonder.
>>
>>52395536

As one of the long time SoB players that actually exist, I can say that every new model I've bought from GW since 5th edition has looked like a brand new cast, not something that's been sitting in a lot or on a shelf for 20 years. Trust me, I've bought both as a Sisters player. The newest metal I've bought was another canoness, and it too was not only shiny with tons of the pewter spindle flash, but also sharp, which meant the metal hadn't had time to bounce around and round off like older casts.

Take that as you will.

Noob here. I'm trying to build a Charcharodons army, using their rule of giving another CCW to their tacticals for 1ppm.
However I feel like it would be basically like an assault squad without the jump packs.

Any pros and cons between the two? I'm keeping their bolters, hence the cost.

In the end I feel it basically is:
Tactical: 3 attacks on the charge (since +1CCW), bolters but drop pod cost to include
Assault: hammer of wrath on the charge (does that add up with the +1 attack on the charge so 3 attacks?) better overall mobility but might not get accross the board without getting killed

Again, big newbie, never played, so I'm probably missing loads.

SoB models constantly run out of stock. People are buying them and GW is restocking them.

Veridyan sold out in less than 5 minutes. Repeatedly. In fact every time they put up a new batch of her for sale she sells out instantly. They'd have to be cartoonishly incompetent not to re-release sisters at this point.

They aren't made of fucking iron man, I just used it as an example of a cheapo metal as compared to fucking everything else.

They use white metal which is an alloy of typically tin with copper or lead. They used to use lead but got shit on when people complained that it could cause lead poisoning (If you where fucking retarded enough to eat them maybe)

Tin is over $9 a pound, and is always going up, copper is less at $2.63 a pound but is also rising as demand grows.

I for one, am delighted to get my hands on plastic HH armor. Furthermore, if you consider that FW intends to write at least 20 black books (and as many as they can until it doesn't sell anymore), it is possible they will continue making new plastic HH when they're done with the last 2, mk5 and mk2. They might go on to do assault marines and do them all over again. I dare say it is likely, since the webstore says TACTICAL mk3/mk4. Hence the possibility of assault.

At a rythm of one box per year plus the indivual boxes half a year later, they have an assured huge sale when all they need to do is make running legs for those marks, since all the other elements (straight arms, Chainsword and bolt pistol) for assault marines are already present in the kits, albeit in very small numbers.

Alright folks. A dilemma.

I have had a plan to kitbash some bullgryns from AoS Minotaur models for some time now (I think bullgryns look derpy and minotaurs look awesome, so there ya go). I recently ordered the slabshields and Grenadier gauntlets, as well as as few other bits, to do this.

But due to a shopping mixup I received a small pile of Ripper guns too. So now I'm considering doing the same for Ogryns.

But I know ogryns are lousy. They're a low armore melee unit in an army that has no assault transports (aside from the comically oversized Gorgon). Bullgryns can be made to work because they can get 3+ armor and provide cover to other units, but ogryns? I dunno.

So, assuming I do end up making a bunch of minotaurs with giant automatic shotguns, how to make them work on the table?

>other gets armor, +1W and IWND, and Iron Arm with enfeeble
>NL Prince gets power siphon, terrify, and Shriek
>horrors roll bolt and firesrorm
>start with 22 power dice T1 but go second
>one horrors lose some casualties, raptors die to drop pod

>I summon a herald and another blob and got to 23
>NL Prince gets free dice from summons and random flickering fire
>terrify shriek combo a unit of bikes off the table

T2 didn't go any better for him and we called it T3 to save time.

> Run Blues through second line, split again

Horrors are the single best unit in the game IMO and I include Warp Spiders in that statement.
>>
>>52397241
>I'm actually thinking about selling them.

I recommend against this (almost always), but especially with 8e apparently looming and the potential of a completely different Psychic phase.

Imo Horrors should go up in price / buy the option to split.
>Splitting Blues and Brims are added to their parent unit.
>Unit with multiple Horrors subtypes always uses their highest Toughness of the Horrors and always resolve Wounds against Pinks then Blues and then Brimstones

Basically just gives the unit a shit ton of durability, but no extra dice bs
>>
>>52397386

That's my only apprehension, honestly, though they're more or less worthless with the rule of 1 in AoS.

I started them in 5th using the 4th edition Codex. Horrors were 17pts a pop with a 4+ save, 3s across the board, and a 3 S/AP4 shots each. No psychic crap. You took units of 5 and deepstriked them with the rest of your army. They didn't give your opponents FnP because LOL RANDUMB, you didn't roll for fucking magic items, you didn't roll on a table every turn, and there was no goddamn summoning. It was fun with enough randomness thanks to the forced Deepstrike.
>>
>>52397426

As it stands, they are absurd. But they could be reigned it easily enough.
> Split triggers on a 5+
> New models are placed in coherency and form part of the unit
> If the unit is completely wiped, no Splitting at all
> Explicitly forbidden from rolling on Malefic.
> Blues/Brimstones cannot cast, but do qualify for counting the number of Warp Charges.
>>
>>52397426
Maybe have them count "together"; when counting up pink horrors in a unit for the purposes of warp charges you also count the blue horrors the spawned from that unit. Each blue counts as half a pink, and each brimstone counts for half a blue.

After it's all added you round for fractions.

Hey guys my little sister is interested in playing Kill Team with me and wants to play Orks.
I've never played Orks before; what would be a good kit to get for starters? Boyz? If so, ranged Boyz or melee Boyz?
>>
>>52397526
I would say to go for bikers and burnas, though it depends on the kill team rules you're going for. Shooting boys tend to be better in some regards. Squad with shoot as and a rokkit has nice threat range while still dishing out a lot of damage in assault. Heavy armor also isn't too worthwhile
>>
>>52397586
Thanks! Yeah it should probably be as simple as possible. I think we're going to play the official Kill Team rules once 8th hits, but for now we're playing One Page Rules for learning purposes.

>>
>>52397671
It depends somewhat on what you play to get something balanced. You could potentially go for Stormboyz as a faster more assault alternative to the default boyz.

Honestly, you're probably better off having her pick our units from the elites or fast attack slots that she likes. Better she has units she wants rather than us trying to guess.

Besides, outside of Nob bikers, there isn't really anything that's much worse than anything else there.

Heck, you could probably even squeeze a Trukk into the list if I recall the rules correctly.

Making Ogryn and Bullgryn work are pretty tough. They are slow with limited range and most people stay back or ignore them. The most they will do is likely get shot to death. An expensive distraction unit.

Slabshield Bullgryn with a Priest in front of Lemans with Camo Netting is pretty solid. You end up giving the tanks 3+ cover. The problem is that the Bullgryn also give cover saves to other units from the sponson guns, so if you put tanks behind the Bullgryn, use things where the main cannon is good. So something like a Demolisher or Battle Tank is good because with Ordnance you're not going to be using the sponson guns.

If you want to invest more points, a Primaris Psyker with Biomancy can potentially roll up Endurance and give them Eternal Warrior and Feel no Pain. The cheaper thing to do is get Imperial Agents Astropaths for 25 points and try to roll Invisibility or Shrouding.

My personal tactics are like this. You take a 3-5 man Bullgryn squad, give them a Priest, take a few ML1 or ML2 IA Astropaths, roll on Telepathy until you get Shrouding or Invisibility and if you don't get it after a couple of tries, use the last 1-2 Astropaths for Prescience. Give some Lemans Camo Netting, put them behind the Bullgryn, then put a Conscript blob in front of the Bullgryn. Put the Astropaths in the Conscript blob. That way everyone has lots of cover and the tanks/Bullgryn can't be assaulted because of the Conscripts blocking the way. Let the Conscripts take the charge, then charge in the Bullgryn.
>>
New thread? I could but I'd probably fuck it up
>>
>>52397791
Seem alright, if you were going for straight lines. Not as certain if it's supposed to be a camo pattern.

Right now I'm making a to-do list for when I get home. Gotta assemble 5 chaos marines, 3 terminators, and a Rhino. Big thing I'm trying to recall is if a Havoc Launcher would fit in the razorback turret. Style hatch that comes with the box. I like the idea of it being in the back like a whirlwind rather than the front mounts.

Another thing I want to experiment with now is Bullgryns with Power Mauls. They are too slow on their own, so I want to try putting 3 in a Chimera with a Priest and speeding up the field. Not sure how it will go. Also know that even with a Priest doing War Hymns and having Hatred, you won't be doing a ton of damage with the Bullgryn. Even with Mauls they don't do a ton of damage unless you're fighting Firewarriors, Necron Warriors, or any unit with a 4+ save.

The thing about Mauls is that you can at least smash open a lot of tanks and also easily wound Monstrous Creatures.
>>
>>52397921
I think they would manage to do woke against things with 3+ armor as well. Wounding on 2s means a lot of attacks will go through against MEQs. 2+ saves are pretty much a no-go though

From my experience they do all right against 3+. It is pretty nice wounding on 2s. You don't really need to do the War Hymn for re-rolling wounds at that point. You could do re-rolling armor saves/invulnerable saves.

For their points at 60ppm, they never do enough. Really wish they had a cheap open topped transport to assault out of. If the Taurox was open topped, it would be perfect. 3 Bullgryn with Power Mauls with a Priest in a Taurox would be relatively cheap for a decent assault unit only costing 265. It costs 260 for 5 Bullgryn and a Priest to footslog right now.

Well, that and the whole 'Ethereals keeping the knowledge of Chaos secret from the Tau' thing...

Some voice actors are only popular for having a single good voice. Mako and Tony Jay come to mind.

You just don't like her voice is all. I think she sounds fine.

Also she does vary it a bit, her Timmy Turner voice doesn't sound that much like her normal girl voice.

Tau have Riptides, which you could make super heavy for an extra 200 points

Tyranids have Trygons, which got downgraded from super heavy.

Orks have 'Baits which really should,be super heavy but aren't.

Necrons have those forgeworld millepedes, I think?

I worded that sentence poorly. What I meant to say is I'd just let him run it as a part of his army without allied shit. Because it makes sense for a renegade knight to maybe ally with orks, but if its a looted knight, piloted by orks, it should be a battle brother.
>>
>>52398206
First, it's really weird fluff to do so, so expect to get complaints.

Second, any sort of Tau marines work better as renegade mercenaries rather than full time members.

Third, they're still desperate allies (despite being battle brothers in 6th) so running them as allies will need them to deploy separately. This could be solved with one group deep striking and the other forming a gun line though

Serving Chaos tends to be something you fall into, having your emotions and body twisted in spite of your willpower.

The Tau have to rely on bog-standard diplomacy to convince the marines, and they can't even offer awesome warp magic in return. Most marine gear is also in par with Tau tech, so they won't be as tempted as guardsmen. Doubly so because non-Tau are almost universally seen as secondary within the empire, and for beings used to being worshipped as angels half the places they go, that's a big step down.

Mercenaries is the best you can hope for, them working alongside the Tau in exchange for supplies and resources, defending humans on Tau controlled worlds, but mostly doing their own thing and hunting down threats in the sector.
>>
>>52398359
Nauts are huge expensive, VERY expensive, vehicles... that have negligible defenses and can be disabled in one hit from a weapon not even one tenth of it's cost.

Nobs are mediocre and yet shockingly expensive. They're 18 points each for a model with no weapons or armour, you have to buy that separately driving their cost up stupidly high.

It's so bad that a nob with sub-standard armour, an enhanced gun and klaw is 49 points but a meganob, a different unit that is a nob with mega armour, a claw and an enhanced gun, is only 40 points. Most likely due to laziness or oversight on the writers part.

Of course when Necrons got their 7e, GW went full ham to the current 7.5e where everything got stupid with the Decursion half of 7e

With such poor saves and no assault transports aside from the prohibitively expensive Gorgon, bullgryns with power mauls are simply a no-go for me, especially at TEQ x 1.33 prices.

On top of that the Power Maul doesn't even give them that much. It works against MCs and Vehicles, but against that kind of enemy you pretty much need AP2 anyway, and it's more cost effective to bring along Commissars or other units that can take melta bombs or proper power weapons.

My personal favorite is inquisitor coteaz. He gives 5 attacks with a S6 AP2 power weapon that ID's Daemons to boot, he's Stubborn and LD10, he's a ML2 psyker that can take Telepathy, and he's 100 points. An allied Sororitas Ministorum Prest can supplement this with auto-succeeding War hymns and an Eviscerator, which turns most tanks into scrap. Between the two they out out enough AP2 wounds to cut up most TEQ squads while the bullgryns deal with weaker infantry and tank wounds for them (since both Coteaz and the Priest hit at I1 while the bullgryns are I2).

It's not great, since you can't get a transport for them (the entire unit is split across 3 armies, all battle brothers but no transports), but they can survive foot-slogging, especially if Coteaz rolls shrouding or Invisibility.
>>
>>52398477
Tau do still have skim drives, so depending on proximity to a relay station, those reinforcements might be weeks or months away, rather than years.

I pretty much agree with you. I'm glad someone else does the Book of St Lucius Priest. I always put him with Bullgryn or a big blob squad.

Power Maul Brute Shield combo is nice too for the 5++, especially with War Hymns. It's nice on the Bone Ed for challenges too, but over all it's too pricey for what it can do.

I usually roll with an ML2 Primaris Psyker with Power Axe, but I might switch over to Coteaz instead since you get so much more for 25 more points. How I roll with my Bullgyrns currently is 5, 3 with Slab, 2 with Power Maul, 1 being the Bone Ed.

Should be alright. At most, I would say to cut out one centurion and bike for a scout squad

Yeah, meant plasma and combi-plasma.. Too tired for this

Went with a meltagun and combi-melta; might change it later tho

>all these anons getting ass blasted their muhreens will be shredded by the new modifiers
>-1 is effectively AP6 since only 6+ saves are rendered useless
>we've already seen plasma is -3, meaning Marines and Terminators get SOME kind of save against it when they didn't before
>everyone already assumed their opponent had AP out their ass and hugged cover
How is this a bad thing.

Because now thos marines in 4+ cover are only getting a 4+ regardless from the heavy stunner. It might as well be AP 3 for all the good its doing them.

And you can ask Orks for how well T 4 4+ goes.

it NURFS MUH MUREENS therefore it's the worst thing since sliced hitler.

It isn't much better for anyone else. The best outcome would be things with AP 5 or worse not having a modifier, thus making hordes more survivable and need AP 4 to reduce their saves. By extention, high AP stuff would ignore the cheap horde armor, but still give marines something to work with.

Basicallly, the hope was that armor saves would matter more, not even less.

No, I am trying out my LGS. It will be my first game that wasn't kill team or 500 points.

I'll post it there if I don't get any good feedback
