Making a setting made to fit the feel and aesthetic of Heavy, Death, and Power metal has been done, but what would a setting meant to invoke the feel of Sludge metal be like? I imagine rather greasy and covered in cheap beer and sweat.

Fuck it,let's get to it, /tg/. I've got a few tallboys and work in the morning, let's make a Sludge Metal setting.
giant death worms are common in the setting

Armor and other gear often continues to fight in memory of its owner.

Oh right, thank you! That's the main antagonist force of the setting: Genre Devils.
They exist to categorize everything into ever more specific genres and labels and fight endlessly amongst themselves and any poor mortal caught in their path over them. Their opposite Demon number violently reject all labels and categorization of any kind and are basically swirling masses of nebulous chaos.
Imagine a selling your soul to acquire the most powerful sword in existence......but then can never use it because it's sentient and refuses to cut anything until the two of you determine exactly what KIND of sword it is. Thus you are damned.
Blue Mantle of Pabst the Proud.
+2 natural armor, -1 WIS and CHA. Shoulder slot.
Once a day the mantle can be activated to cause any negative magical effect of a spell level less than 4 to be positive to an opposite amount. Being under a spell that causes a loss of 3 STR would instead raise STR by 3 for the natural remainder of the spell effect.
The mantle smells slightly metallic and wheaty, seeming to be made out of a cheap bit of cloth but regarded as oddly beautiful by those who wear it. Gives off a faint aura of Abjuration.

Gonna need some more information to inspect it and make sure it's up to regulation standards

I thinking shit like Hail and Kill or any of the homebrews discussed here. What would /tg/ do for a sludge metal fueled setting, basically?

Somewhere between Conan and Fury Road, I think.
