So /tg/ what do you think would be the best motivation or reason to work for some "evil villain" who's just like any Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain with the evil secret lair, scary high-collar out, pointy schnoz and evil laugh and plans to take over the world. What would motivate some PMCs to work for said villain to be his/her minions?

Yeah sure, its safe to say that the henchmen and minions of those type of villains are either convicts and criminals, but at best those henchmen and minions would also be mercenaries and PMCs who're hired to help take over the world. And put up with the cartoony evil laugh.

But assuming you're a mercenary or some Blackwater-Academi level Contractor, would you really be willing to work as a "minion" for some James Bond Villain or cartoon villain with the evil lair that's concealed in some mountain range? And also boasting a "Doom Laser" that'd destroy entire cities and a plan to take over the world? Whether or not their plans have any practicality, would you still work for them for the sake of being hired with crap-tons of money?

So whats the best justification for being a minion for said type of villain /tg/?

Heroes don't kill and always win.

Villains are suckers and usually pretty damn rich..

1. Demand pay up front

2. Put up token resistance when the doomsday plan inevitably goes south

3. Get incapacitated but not really hurt long-term by the good guy

4. repeat

5. profit

6. Ride your iron clad job security into the sunset.

Speaking of henchmen to a villain, here are the best henchmen in my opinion.
>>
>>52286906
1. Money.
2. Intentional obfuscation of nefarious activity, including claming the hero's are the truly corrupt ones.
3. Thought reform, basically what cults use to trap members.
4. A shared hatred or common enemy.
5. Bullshit reasons like hypnosis.
6. False glamour, make working for you seem amazing from the outside looking in.
7. Bribery or blackmail.
8. Chemical dependency, addict all your employees.

You basically just described any major geopolitical power (UK, US, Russia, France, Germany etc) in the last 100 years (sometimes maniacal laughs included). It all boils down your nationality and or ideology. Which one is closest to yours.

Money is the sorta moral dilemma id like to see explored more.
>Billionaire villain opens a secret lab in middle of nowhere
>Local town faces an economic boom the likes of which it hasn't seen since nearby mines ran dry
>Town grows to its former glory and more, as mercs, lab workrs, henchmen and other sorted workers use the towns services
>Local youngsters get a job as henchmen or janitors inside the giant base, some even get a job in factory wing
>People are able to work and save money for a future
>The people have hope once again, crime rate is record low due to most of the youth being employed
>Suddenly hero appears, blows up the base and thwarts evil billionaires plans
>Henchmen, mercs and scientists leave
>Local economy tanks
>Youth is unemployed again, those who didnt die in the base exploding, state declares it an industrial accident and covers up all information on there having been a secret base
>Town is in its deathbed again, crime increases and locals have lost hope again

Who was the real villain here?

Comprehensive medical plan, competitive wage, matching retirement plan, four weeks paid vacations, maternity / paternity leave, job security, and growth opportunities within the organization.

>Force everyone on communal farms or mines or factories
>Everyone is barely fed and constantly starving

Fuck off.

It's not always just the salary. Think stock options, a 401k, health and dental plans, decent on-site housing, fostering a pleasant work environment to keep up morale. Does your villain's mountain range offer skiing or a hiking trail for keeping active during those off-hours? Maybe the secret island lair has some wonderful beachfront properties used for employee barracks. The only way to set yourself apart from the other supervillains is through the benefits.

never forget the motivation of living out the childhood dream of being part of a superhero or b-rated spy story.

>>52287567
Ah, but what was the billionaire villain doing to the rest of the world?

The hero is still responsible for not trying to help prepare some backup and for massive and unnecessary amounts of collateral damage (I mean was trashing the entire fucking base needed? could have just killed the head honcho and the doomsday weapon), but if the villain was dropping bombs on random cities and funneling ever drop of pollution from their labs into the next towns over, well I guess it's sunshine and daisies for Dirtville, but for Dustown that was in just as bad a place, the situation's gotten worse.

Good pay, various benefits like healt insurance and so etc. Also utter ignorance and indifference to what your employer does.
So basically everyone that works in a company that manufactures/designs military products
