Okay, GM has officially given his word on this and said that it wasn't 2hu's fault. But...

>2hu crowds out the FAQ thread in the LFG
>Asks for his usual laundry list of stuff
>GM is trying to reply, saying yes to some of it
>For every "yes", 2hu pushes harder
>Suddenly 2hu posts a huge wall of text justifying loli catgirls as a distinct subrace in the setting
>This same post hijacks part of the GM's lore and turns an assassin order into a martial tradition
>Within the next several hours, GM makes a public statement that the game has to be closed down due to IRL drama.
>GM returns a month later with it all mysteriously resolved and the Character Creation rules explicitly disallowing 2hu's favorite tactics

I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

So! How was your weekend, /pfg/? Do anything fun or exciting, game-related or otherwise?
>>
>>52275525

No see it's fine because the DM is running a second game explicitly because he knows 2hu is going to destroy the first one.
>>
Kay folks, I posted this earlier, but it got swallowed by the old thread.

I'm gonna run Reign of Winter for four players. I enjoy higher-power games with more Martial focus- so I'm doing Spheres, PoW, Jollyneticists and Jollyvigilantes, the whole nine yards. However, I'm hitting a stumbling block with the requests of one player for psionics classes.

On the one hand, psionics classes do some very neat, interesting things. Psychic Armory, Aegis, Soulknife, Tactician, Vitalist, etc, all are pretty dang neat. On the other hand, it's another magic system to keep track of, along with all its interactions between normal magic, spheres, and such.

So what should I do? I like Psionics but I want to avoid bloat, and I prefer Spheres to keep things more down to earth. It's a bit of a dilemma and I'd like some input from you anons
>>
>>52275504

I'm F/SN anon from yesterday.

The game would be set during the 9th Holy Grail war occurring in 2021 in San Francisco.

I personally have run 6 other Holy Grail wars with the 1st and the 5th being backstory wars (I ran 2-4, added 5 as a backstory war, and ran 6-8). All the previous ones were for my in person group. Most often I would take Lancer as an NPC servant in order to facilitate a better Holy Grail War. I'll give a list of previous servants:

>Saber
1st: UNKNOWN
2nd: Charlemagne
3rd: William the Conquerer
4th: Maximilian the 1st
5th: John Hawkwood
6th: Alfred the Great
7th: Sigurd
8th: John Hawkwood

>Archer
1st: Cupid
2nd: Roland Deschain
3rd: Billy the Kid
4th: Nimrod
5th: Odysseus
6th: Adolf Hitler
7th: Simo Häyhä
8th: The Freeshooter

>Lancer
1st: Vlad the Impaler
2nd: Captain Ahab
3rd: Achilles
4th: Perseus
5th: Judas
6th: Shaka Zulu
7th: St. George
8th: Hannibal

>Rider
1st: Ramessess II
2nd: Genghis Khan
3rd: Attila the Hun
4th: Paul Revere
5th: Don Quixote
6th: Attila the Hun
7th: Richard the Lionhearted
8th: St. George, The Dragon Slayer

>Caster
1st: Circe
2nd: Masamune
3rd: Geppetto
4th: Diogenes the Cynic
5th: Doctor Frankenstein
6th: John the Baptist
7th: Edgar Allan Poe
8th: H.P. Lovecraft

>Assassin
1st: Sun Tzu
2nd: Judas
3rd: Arda Mulissi
4th: The Zodiac Killer
5th: Hassan-i Sabbah
6th: Guy Fawkes
7th: John Wilkes Booth
8th: Edgar Allan Poe

>Berserker
1st: Seigfried
2nd: Cain, First Murderer
3rd: Ivar the Boneless
4th: Ragnar Ludbruk
5th: Seigfried
6th: Samson
7th: Abraham Lincoln, Raging Abe
8th: Sun Wukong

A lot of these happened in the 'canon' for the games long enough ago that they are no longer relevant. For instance the first Holy Grail war happened in 1802.

I don't have it compiled well as more than notes because we hadn't really changed players that much for these games. I would have to write a booklet people can draw from. Is anyone interested?
>>
WotR second session was cute. Not too much gameplay progression because the DM was a bit braindead after having to write a paper, but good character interaction.

>Lorelei soloed a frog-man by beating him to death with her spellbook
>the rest of the party fought a mob of earth elements
>the redhead punchgirl whose name nobody can spell right carried Anevia through the caverns and smacked her ass when she wouldn't stop fidgeting
>the party traded some background information
>"Irina" the crossdressed male vigilante got into a conversation about relationships
>Rath and punchgirl decided to set Irina up on a date with a nice man
>Tia made the other girls jealous of her impossibly pretty hair
>>
>>52275589
Im getting scheduling and character/party building done this week, so I should have enough time to make sure everything is digested. It's less the Psionic classes that bug me, it's introducing another subsystem. I'm already familiar with how it works, it's just how it will interact within the game with spheres and maneuvers that I'm unsure about
>>
>>52275656
I've been toying with a incanter 1, sphere magus 2, combat+font of inspiration hedgewitch build. Not sure how good it is though.
>>
>>52275645
When the handbook project started, anyone who wanted to try and write could grab a book. A bunch of new writers signed up and ended up dropping. Several books have been reassigned. Both time and life got books into playtest to only have the writers disappear. Life is now back in playtest with a new writer, and Time has been given to someone else, too. And yeah, Time was pretty bad.
>>
>>52275683
Not even half as cancerous as the people lying about it to shitstir
>>
>>52275712
Psionic classes interact with other things identical to spells, and there's a discipline->school conversion chart if necessary for specific effects.
>>
>>52275694
Sure, interested. Although desu I'd say that at least 12-15 would make for a better starter level range, even if it risks Caster doing Caster shenanigans.
>>
>>52275712
It probably shouldn't interact super weird with maneuvers, since PoW was partially designed with Psionic content in mind(Zealot, Sleeping Goddess, there was a Psionic-gish in the first Path of War book).

Just keep Psionic magic transparency in mind with Sphere shit, and it should be all good.
>>

I have done level 15 and 12 before actually. I was thinking of going a bit lower. Might bump it back up to 12.
>>

>>

Warpriest (sphere warpriest or divine heretic), Combat tradition Hedgewitch (a number of good options for the second tradition), Mageknight has good support, and there is a lot of gish feats in the War handbook.

>>
>>52275827
Yes. It's pretty obvious there were some simple edits to maps and stuff, but since I don't know the original WotR I can't call the differences.

>>52275785

>>
>>52275540
Weekend was nothing special, but I'm now doing prep work for my home Hell's Rebels game on Wednesday.
Or should be prepping, I'm completely dead after a day of work, and the fact that I have to prepare one plot hook and a half doesn't help: the AP is ridiculously open ended at times, and I don't know where the PC wants to do now.

Which Hell's Rebels character would make the best meme?
>>
>>52275942
When you make your character you choose your VMC. You do not receive a feat at levels 3, 7, 11, 15, and 19. Instead, you receive a class feature as noted underneath the VMC entry of the class you're taking features from.

Lose the feats gained at 3, 7, 11, 15, and 19. Get certain class features from your VMC class instead.

Everyone gets a feat at every odd level. That's 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.

With VMC, you replace half of those and get the listed features when it tells you you get them.

Even though it's "not full sneak attack", I'm probably going to end up just going Slayer or something at this rate. It just hurts, because URogue DOES have a few cool things, they just don't outweigh how much it doesn't actually fix most of the really shitty things about it. (needs a billion feats to make use of ANYTHING and yet still can't move+full attack, has garbage saves, alright at skills but still massively overshadowed by Investigator)

A roll of 15 or so. Get a +5 weapon. Maybe Weapon Focus. If it's a Fighter, weapon training is at +6 because you're not retarded and have Gloves of Dueling.

That's +37 to hit, so about 75% chance to hit a CR21 creature.
>>
>>52277079

>>52276922
Show him a Pit Fiend, an iconic CR 20 creature.

Now lets take a level 20 fighter with 20 strength. He was Weapon Training and a +5 weapon. Let's say he even has haste.

His bonus to hit is +35/35/30/25/20

So he has a percentage chance to hit of 90/90/65/40/15

Now looks fine, he's probably gonna hit. The issue is Damage. His damage is gonna be, with a great sword:
2d6+18(power attack)+7(strength)+5(weapon)+4(weapon training) or 2d6+34.

A Pit Fiend has 350 HP. This means on average it will take the fighter 8.5 successful attacks to kill the Pit Fiend.

Or nearly 3 full attacks on average of just slugging the Pit Fiend.

Meanwhile a Wizard still using Mindscape and beats the Pit Fiend in 1 spell.

Hoo boy, good thing that you're here to tell me my motivations and speak on my behalf here because for a moment I thought that I was making a second game because I loved so many of the character concepts and wanted to run for more of them. Dodged a bullet there, thank god for you.

Now do the same with any 3/4 BAB class.
>>
>>52277189
Oh, and Fools Errand
>>
>>52277170
Associated Weapons only matter with a handful of disciplines (such as Solar Wind); otherwise, all they do is grant a +2 bonus to the DCs of maneuvers that have them. A lot of maneuvers don't ask for DCs, so using an associated weapon isn't necessary.
>>
>>52277170
You get a bonus to save DCs (if any) if you use a discipline weapon, and some maneuvers specifically require discipline weapons or particular weapon types.
>>
>>52277128
>If it's a Fighter, weapon training is at +6 because you're not retarded
One class out of how many martials?
Also power attack?
Full attacks?
>>
>>52277170
By default, the only bonus to using a discipline weapon is that it raises the DC's of maneuvers by 2. Some disciplines and maneuvers will tell you they only work with certain weapons.

Scarlet Throne's Einhander stance requires a 1-handed weapon, for example.
>>
>>52276922

It works for Magus, Warpriest, Alchemist, and any other 3/4 bab class witrh 6th level casting.

5 (Str) + 15 (BAB) + 10 (Studied) + 2-16 (Greater Combat Inspiration + Amazing Inspiration).

Eh, I'll give you Goblin Paladins, since not only do they have the worst stats for it, but are innately Chaotic dickbags.

However, Kobolds are highly lawful by nature. And since they tend to be super devoted to Dragons, its not too much of a stretch to imagine a Metallic taking a tribe or individual in and training and indoctrinating them to put their highly lawful and and communal natures to good use and pursuing the selfless path of Paladinhood.
Heck, the only reason why I'd advise against one is becuase Kobolds have the absolute worst stats to build any kind of martial combatant

Soon? I mean he's got the same deadline as everyone else so within 26 hours at least. However I can reveal that he's playing an int based avowed focusing on having skills and shooting lasers at his problems.

>>52277407
There are a lot of people with obviously incomplete profiles, they obviously need to be finished from a story standpoint before the deadline. I can't imagine it'll be more than a day before both groups are announced after the cut off date. Depending on submissions between now and then and how things change I might even announce when the cut-off happens. If anyone specifically wants notes, they can certainly ask me and I'll provide what insight I can.

Alright, lets stop Witchhunting LiterallyCan'tEvenDM, and instead do something constructive! Speculate wildly on who's getting into Hell's Rebels!

All picks are ignoring 2hu, because I know nothing about what they're bringing. I also don't really care.

Player Picks (in order):
1.Estelle - Blinkling Medic; a punchgirl, a doggo meme, and the only potential healer in the pool. Character isn't half-bad either
2.Winston - Human Investigator/Vigilante; The GM has said how much they like the concept, the character is a good foil (both mechanically and fluff-wise), and they're one of the few complete and decent male apps.
3.Noel - Human Bard/Vigilante; This one was tough. Metlee, Noel, and NewHana are all strong apps; but I'm gonna go with my gut, and say Noel is going to win out in the end.
4.Sophia - Aasimar Warlord; The party has skills and buffing pretty well covered, but they're in need of a solid frontliner. Removing the incomplete apps, that only gives us a couple candidates, of which, Sophia is probably the most fleshed out and well-written.
5.Coin Flip between Metlee and Hana; they're the strongest apps, and if the GM gives the party time to adjust builds, there are ways to make multiple bards work.
6._____DOUG______; He is an ascended being that yearns only for power. He is the alpha and the omega, he is the morning and the evening star. HE IS HERE! Hello, I would like to play.
>>
>>52277850

okay then. I'll humor your experiment

Does anyone think the Campaign Traits are interbalanced correctly?
Campaign Traits (If you took the Loan option, you may take one of these traits for free)
Blessed by Iono : When making a save vs corruption, you may add your CHA modifier.
Blessed by Roma : Your natural and unarmed attacks count as though they were Moonsilver.
Blessed by Shepherd : Every round that you have less than 1 hit point and are not stable, remove Corruption points equal to your level.
Blessed by Zyke : Whenever you have at least one point of Corruption, you have the Scent ability and can sense other sources of corruption within 30'
Blessed by Undyne : For every five minutes bathing in otherwise pure water, remove 1 point of corruption. Anyone who drinks this water gains that corruption.
Blessed by Titania : You may choose to assume your Night Form during the day for a number of rounds equal to your level.

I will probably ask for his advice now and again on mechanical matters, nothing that will spoil the story. Literally all we have discussed involving the story is his own backstory and his family members. This isn't because I don't trust him to not metagame, but because I don't intend to spoil the plot for any of my players, it's less fun that way.

Let me be frank here, if me flat out saying that I don't intend to let him disrupt the game any more than I would any other player isn't enough for you then nothing ever will be. If you're going to be worried about it all game and it's going to spoil the experience for you then save yourself the stress. If you're willing to trust my word however, then everything is fine.

Blessed by Iono should just be a flat modifier, +2 probably based on how these traits usually work, but I don't know what the DM has in mind in regards to how often you'll roll corruption. It's narrow as a CHA modifier, and if it's useful at all, might be way too useful in the right builds. Interesting to note is that a CHA dumper can use it to nudge their own roll down.

Roma is fine. I'd say necessary to open up options in a game like this.

Shepherd seems weak but I don't know how the game will play out in practice, it might actually turn out great. I feel like it should remove corruption in your sleep as well.

Scent is great when it works, and I'd wager you'll always have one point of corruption if you're smart about it. Might be too strong, but situation enough that I'm not certain.

The Undyne trait is weird but I like it. Realistically, if you can afford to take a long bath you can probably qualify for a full day rest which removes all corruption. The whole corrupting people with water thing leans it preeeetty evil, but I'm sure there's productive use of that for a creative good character somehow. Also semi-justified anime bath scenes.

I don't know what the Night Form entails, but Titania is pretty busted if it's an imitation Rage. I really can't imagine any way it's not busted short of purely being a roleplay trait.

>>52278249
>Oh that's a lot, but since it's all free this is very helpful!

The Nightwalker Template (Subject to tinkering)

For every point of HP magically healed, gain 1 Corruption.
When you gain Corruption and it meets or exceeds your Maximum HP, you must make a Will save, DC {10+Corruption-Max HP}. On a failure, you become incapacitated with madness until after an overnight rest is completed. On success, you have the option to initiate a rage as though you were an equivalent level barbarian. When the rage ends, you will be incapacitated with madness for a short period.
Resting for an hour at night is the equivalent of resting the whole night normally. Resting the whole night restores all HP. Resting all day removes all Corruption.
DR 1/Moonsilver (magic)

If you become overwhelmed from a forceful transfer of corruption, a poison held in all bodily fluids much like a disease, Nightwalkers have a chance of absorbing the essence of the source, their bodies transforming into aspects of the other's body. These transformations only manifest at night, melting back into the body under the light of the sun.

>>52278295

It means you get all the transformations you accumulated that normally only manifest at night.

Min-maxing and optimizing are different. Min-maxing implies there is a big weakness you're creating to make one area strong (the min and the max). DHB's builds are generally all rounders with one area of hyper competence. He doesn't force it to the point he has mins.

DHB builds skill monkeys. I don't think he ever cares about combat.

>>52278700
Didn't he say he had a problem with this. I remember something about him saying it's why he didn't like Myth Weavers because it was harder to write out situational bonuses.
>>
>>52278759
Something like that is a concern of mine, but mostly I'm also worried about setting detail drops or talk about what the DM is looking for ending up there and not the game page.
>>

>>
>>52278774

Less than you'd think, as the scale increases.
>>
>>52278786
To be fair, anything short of building a merchant empire is an inferior venture compared to adventuring.
>>
>>52278795
>Why does DHB build such anti-romantic characters?
Personal preference, probably. Can't really get into the right headspace, so doesn't try to do something he's not comfortable with.
>>
>>52278774
Slavery is only profitable as long as industrialism and mechanization doesn't exist.

It why there were some greek steam engines that were found as oddities and nothing more.
>>
>>52278816

Is there any industrialised nation in Pathfinder?

Would it be scummy to apply to one of the many /pfg/ campaigns with a character that was originally in the living campaign? I still do like the character, but endless barroom roleplaying just isn't cutting it anymore. I think it would be fun to play Minty in a real campaign, like I'd originally hoped.
>>
>>52278795
>Why does DHB build such anti-romantic characters?
DHB is an innocent little girl who doesn't want lewds.
>>
>>52278829
Alkenstar.

Arguably, a high-magic place like Nex might count, but then that's still operating on the idea of master-apprentice chains, guilds at the most advanced.
>>
>>52278841
Minty is precious and one of the rare gems of that place. Let her be something more than just a wasted concept in a living campaign, please.

I remember her getting drunk to get some dutch courage and confront another character, only for her to divert her course and ending up talking about explosives and plants. Or when my druid and her spoke about the Green Faith.
>>
>>52278533
>Friendly reminder
This meme is retarded because this isn't a friendly reminder. It's never a "friendly reminder". Stop trying to act like this is some sort of competition. The timelines have already diverged massively anyway.

>Saturday metagamed hard
No, the "metagaming" thing came up because one of the FotJR players was afraid of doing that after he realized he fucked up something that would have moved the plot forward by being a terrible employee
>>
>>52278774
In pathfinder? Very.
You can get a lot done if you enslave people the right way. Get an at will charm item, just charm a bunch of people, and get them to willingly fail their saves, and you're good.
>>
>>52278774

Slavery is always profitable so long the job is simple and thus easy to supervise. The size of the land and the number of people farming also influence how profitable is to engage in slavery.
>>
What the fuck is this living campaign?
>>
>>52278774
Depends oin the kind of slavery. Indenture contracts can be quite useful and hold an strong economic place for a long time, and tend to be quite sustainable.
Chattel Slavery rarely lasts a long time, and usually requires it to become culturally ingrained for it to last a long time. Further, by its nature it only tends to be concentrated in the richer members of the population, much like how even in the Confederate South only 10% of them held slaves, and only a smaller percent of that owned 10 or more.

Further, at a certain point of technology and industrialization, chattel slavery becomes way too inefficient, and eventually Indenture becomes just too much to handle as the social class dynamic changes drastically.

Its one of the reasons why, even had the Confederates won, in order to become industrially and economically viable on their own, they would've gotten rid of slavery within 10 or so years as the Economic incentive for it dissapears and the Religious movement realises that there's no reason to accept it as a necessary evil, and half of the reason why the Southern Aristocracy started the war would've been made moot.
>>
>>52278911
Of course, if the job is simple enough, you might make more money renting skeletons from a necromancer compared to buying slaves.
>>
>>52278941
>renting skeletons from a necromancer
So, slavery of undead, rather than of the living.

Thanks for the compliment! I didn't expect her to be nearly as well-received as she was. I'll look into whatever other campaigns /pfg/ is cooking up, but there seems to be an awful lot of other people applying, and some talk of campaigns dying right off the bat. Do you have any recommendations for one that looks solid to apply for?
Also, was that Divitia?

To be fair, basic bitch 1hd skeletons arent that impressive. Their biggest advantage is their DR, and you can just get a club. Also I think the average person is like level 2.

On a war scale, the major advantages are no need to sleep or be supplied.
>>
>>52279070
Shayliss's father is a LEVEL 7 COMMONER.
>>
>>52278981
>>52278989
So if I did int damage to people until they're int 0 and then kept them like that, and then used their bodies as slave labour via puppeteer spells, that's not slave labour?
>>
>>52279029
Yes.

Legacy of Fire is probably the closest to VLC that you'll find, though I'm not sure Minty can be converted there unscathed (unless you take the exiled campaign trait?) and sounds to be the most fun campaign that's currently recruiting, so I'd say look into it. You're a quality player, too, so I don't doubt you'd have good chances of getting in.
>>
>>52279084
But they still have souls and are living, albeit trapped in a horrendous state. Also they technically wouldn't function at 0 int at all and I don't think there's much in the way of spells that can puppeteer the living.
>>
>>52279083

How many of her boyfriends do you think he's had to chase off with a stick, anon? The XP adds up.
>>
>>52279084
That's still slave labor since you can just heal the int damage to bring them back to normal, 1 hd undead were never "smart" to begin with so there's nothing about them that we're inherently bringing down by using them for labor.
>>
>>52279084
You'd need to be physically controlling them with like telekinesis.

And it's still tamtamount to slavery and imprisonment because it's the disenfranchisement of a sentient being.
>>
>>52279083
Jesus fuck, how many people has he killed to get there?

What up hombres! Well, I've come to fulfill my promise.

I give you, the initial alpha version of the new Unchained Sphere Magus!

Now, its only the initial draft, as I've been sick for the last week, so its probably a horribly balanced mess. But hopefully you smart and wonderful anons will help me out and point out any stupid things that need to be critiqued in this Doc.

Please feel free to critique, shit on, and tear into this at your heart's content!

Disenfranchisement. You're still taking away the rights of living beings.

You're just being more evil at it.
>>
>>52278223
Starting level is 3, so they already get to bypass magic which is what Moonsilver is. Vult insists it's not exactly the same, but there's no clear difference.
>>
>>52279202
What if your feature lets you treat an attack as magical for overcoming DR? Would it not work minus a moonsilver weapon in that case?

>>
>>52279176
Listen, bub, don't tell me how to run a slave trade. You take the dissenting people, put on a ring of sustenance, cut off all their meat from the neck down, and animate their body while letting the head still be alive and aware of everything, and then you see how many people will try rebelling.

>>52279199
Well, that IS slavery, and animating skellies is also evil.
>>
>>52279239
I don't know. DR/Moonsilver is bypassed by a +1 weapon, and there's no mechanical difference that Vult's mentioned, so one would assume a Monk's Ki Strike feature would bypass it just fine.
>>
>>52279042
Well, there are 19 apps, so 10 of the apps won't be getting in. A few of them are flat out incomplete, and can be discarded right out the get go, leaving about 15 apps left, so only six apps are getting cut from the final product.
>>
>>52279269
>spend a spell point to make a melee attack as part of the spell
>adding an additional cost to spellstrike, defeating half the purpose of spellstrike to begin with

??????????
>>
>>52279272
>animating skellies is also evil

What exactly makes it evil?
>>
>>52279272
I mean, I guess that's true. Golarion doesn't punish or reward shades of evil. If you're gonna end up with an arbitrary Evil alignment, why not go all the way?
>>
>>52279272
Necromancy runs into potential evil at two points. Killing people for their bones. This is evil. And use of people's bones without their permission, which is just theft.

And how much are bones even worth anyway? To people other than necromancers.
