Pathfinder General /pfg/

How come /pfg/ hardly has any archers in its apps for Roll20 games? Is it because archery is great in Paizo only but not really supported by 3pp stuff like PoW or avowed?

Nope. Basic shit like Raise Dead doesn't do anything of the sort. You can still Res or True Res a guy whose old body is currently a skeleton.

Pretty much. It also tends to be a very static playstyle ('I take a 5' step and full attack' every round forever).
>>
>>52266060

Could be anywhere from her late teens to early thirties.

Personally? Make her 23; young, beautiful and ready to be a lovely wife and caring mother, her future was torn from her with a demonic child ruining her womb and the scars of an oversized monster ravaging her.

" The state of undeath is considered a severe moral crime as it violates both a person's body and soul."

From 'Black Markets'
>>
>>52266096
But then if undead can spawn naturally how can we say that they're truly "unnatural"?

Also if raising basic undead didn't do anything with a person's soul then why would Pharasma actually care?
>>
>>52265862
Dropping this in the new thread too.

>Corrupted Modulation
>Prerequisites: Aether pulse class feature, at least one modulation clause known, avowed level 3rd.
>Benefit: Choose one modulation clause you know. Whenever you use that modulation with your aether pulse (including alongside a shape), you can choose to gain additional corruption to overcharge it. If you do, your aether pulse deals an additional die of damage, plus one further die of damage per 5 caster levels you posses. In addition, you take corruption equal to the number of dice of damage your base aether pulse would inflict, including the additional dice provided by this feat.

>If your aether pulse deals damage dice equal to your caster level (such as from a second-selection aether blast), the overcharged modulation instead adds twice as many additional dice of damage. This additional damage does not increase the amount of corruption you receive.

>In addition, your aether pulses using the selected modulation (regardless of whether or not you altered its function with this feat) ignore resistance to its damage, and creatures that would normally be immune take half damage instead of none.

>Special: Whenever you gain access to a new grade of clauses, you may choose to change this feat's selected modulation to another one you know (including one you just learned). You may combine this feat with overcharge modulation; if you do so, calculate the corruption you take from this feat before adding the additional damage dice the overcharge modulation provides.

I added in a note so that it doesn't punish blasters more than shape users but functions properly for both. Assuming this looks good I'm gonna grab it for Adalicia I think.

Pharasma cares, its a violation of the soul

And all undead are evil by nature, so maybe creating a bunch of horrifying monsters who have instilled in them an instinct to tear apart all living things is.. Bad.

Except there's nothing in the rules about that.

A skeleton is just a skeleton. It does not have or possess a soul. Only intelligent undead have or are souls, and even THOSE aren't necessarily the soul of the original creature. Only in certain circumstances is this a thing, like Liches.

So you know, when you raise a Phantom Armor? You're not pulling a guy's soul back down from heaven. You're CREATING A SOUL WHOLESALE OUT OF NEGATIVE ENERGY.

>>52266146
Ignoring the possible answer of 'Paizo a shit'...

The aforementioned would be a good reason why. Because you're saying 'fuck the system' and making souls out of negative energy.

>>52266165
Undead don't have to be evil. There's some nonevil ones. And I mean one could just cast Celestial Healing a few times and they'd be right as rain! Heck, even a Devil could do that! They'd still have the Evil subtype, but they themselves would still be Good!

>>
>>52266209
Clearly, the only choice is to run two bi-weekly games with alternating groups AND one weekly game.
>>
>>52266209
I honestly think you should run the single group weekly with the player you want in. I mean you might displease some of /pfg/ for doing that and making it clear choices are being made with the background in mind, but as a DM your biggest responsibility is making the game enjoyable for yourself.

The idea of having two bi-weekly groups to satisfy so many players might be nice but you'll still get the same amount of sessions personally with just one. Long term issues like drop outs or simply coming to prefer your A-team are possible. Just keep it easy for yourself.

A possible compromise though. Run one group weekly with your key player, run a second group bi-weekly if you really need to. But I do think you should just run one weekly if there's someone you want in.
>>
>>52266165
See you say that but any undead that are manually created are made to do the bidding of the person who created them, and if they aren't intelligent undead then they don't get any kind of saves to resist your will. Therefore it doesn't matter if they "have an inherent hatred of the living", if I want to raise a zombie then have it give me and my crew massages, and nothing else, then that's what it's going to do.

I'm gonna be a Myrmidon Lore Warden Fighter. I plan on using a Dueling Sword. Should I go Mithral Current and Scarlet Throne. I'm having a hard time deciding.

The other discipline I am focusing on in Golden Lion if that effects the recommendation.

The plan is either Mithral Current or Scarlet Throne is my focus and Golden Lion is my secondary. The focus with be about 60/40. Since I'm a fighter I can afford to spend feats on Advanced Study and the like.

Also is there a guide somewhere for the full list of things that interact with the Dueling Sword. I found the Sword Lord PrC, but it doesn't play well with initiating, and I found a number of feats that help, but it seems like there are a bunch of odds and ends knocking about.

So hey. I've started fiddling with Armorist, fixing it up in a few places, and I'm looking for some feedback on it, as well as some potential ideas for Arsenal Tricks and Advanced Techniques.

TL;DR, Arsenal Tricks are for the bigger things, and Advanced Techs are for smaller quality of life things, or things that would be nice but not worth spending an Arsenal Trick on.

It's not finished yet, but some changes that immediately come to mind are things like staves being available for binding at 4th, and summoning weapons is the same as drawing them, so things like quickdraw or Improved Quickdraw affect it.

I'm also gonna go rewrite Blaster once I'm done with this.

Make her 23; she got ravished at 17, had the kid-monster at 18, spent a while broken and depressed, and then got her life together at 21 and spent the next two years becoming a Paladin.

Also, what do you mean her "first" marriage?
>>
>>52266378
Despite a lot of general discussion on both games, neither of them have managed to put out a single meme character. Maice and Lysander are the only Puellas I've seen mentioned, and the same goes for Gamze and Sakara. Incidentally I think Maice and Gamze have the same player.

I think Maice is the only one there with any hinted interest in romance, so I guess her with someone from Legacy?
>>
>>52266444

You need to figure out what they're playing first, since it could be anything from an AP (good) to Society (get away.)

>>
>>52266585
You can be a Bloodrager.
>>
>>52266209
It sounds like you need to corner this "key player" and rape them to show dominance. The DM always controls shit, not some vain player bitch. Maybe some rough butt love will show them who's boss.
>>
>>52266540
I figured they got name dropped but never discussed. I might've missed it though. All very cute, but the pickings might be slim on Legacy side even with /u/. Interesting characters but I think the app format makes them harder to grasp and the lack of lewd leaves them way more down to Earth than most lists.

>>52266556
Actually, I bet Lysander would be down to bang a snake so we can start there. Might be too easy of a couple though, like, I don't know if they'd have any shenanigans.

I may be overthinking this.
>>
>>52266577
Kinda. They helped construct a great deal of it, I'm interested in having them as a player and I like their character concept. I mean there's a chance that it might not pan out that way but it's pretty slim.

I'm sorry if you're an applicant and this leaves you feeling upset, betrayed or cheated.

Next Up Is... Rhea.

Rhea! Rhea! Rhea!

>Little barbarian girl wants to be a hero!
>Trains for years to accomplish her goal
>Helped by an unnamed mentor
>Spends a while doing minor heroic shit.
>Meets an unnamed friend (Gonna call them Toiletbowl)
>Toiletbowl is traveling to Kintargo, and informs Rhea of the shit going down there
>Rhea hears about martial law being declared, travels to Kintargo to find Toiletbowl
>Finds things are better than expected, but no sign of her shiny porcelain friend.
>Rhea vows to solve the mystery!

An idealistic wanderer gets in over her head, and dragged into the birth of a rebellion.

Good:
A missing friend gives her an immediate and strong connection to the plot.

An outsider's perspective, and one not even from Cheliax, provides some unique storytelling angles.

Oh god, someone who's not a skill monkey!

Bad:
NAMES! NAMES! NAMES! Toiletbowl is a major, major part of the bacsktory does has no name. Why?

Where is she from? A character from the Land of the Linnorm Kings is different from a Shoanti which is different from a Bekyar which is different from... etc, etc. A tiny bit about her culture would be great.

Personality is kind of generic; she needs an x-factor, something to differentiate her from other characters.

>Appeal 4/10, some potentially interesting plot threads, but nothing makes me want to see those plot threads explored.
>Backstory 3/10, BORING. The culture shock could be a worthwhile angle, but her culture is never mentioned.
>Compatibility 7/10, I can't see anyone have problems with her personalitywise, and being a tanky melee fighter sets her apart from the Bards.
>Rebeloscity 8/10, an outsider clashing with a culture she doesn't understand, to save someone she barely knows.

BARD COUNTER: 1

Up Next, Noel!

Using 1pp, is there a way to leverage Skill Focus (UMD) to be more useful and/or set me up for something good a few levels down the line?

Got a scroll & wand crazy bard (Constantly buying scrolls of flaming sphere, searing ray, fireball, etc. ends up cheaper, offers great utility than just sinking it into magic weapons) and want to improve my odds to succeed when I UMD in combat.

He didn't give specific approval of this side session. The side session though was more he wanted to work out things in his back story and didn't want to have the other players wait for this.

A brief summary is:

I think because archery has become somewhat despised.

People who want to play a ranged character don't want to create a character in EZ-Mode, and try to instead optimize something different.

Like kineticists, firearms experts, tech users and so on. Things you can take the CharOp into maximal-autist mode for without having to worry that you'll be leaving anyone behind.

Hey who wants to play a PvP F/SN game?

7 players, you have to be PoW except for Caster who is a Spheres Caster with Advanced Talents. You're all level 10 with a level 5 Master following you around.

You build the level 12 servant I give you a master. You still get to control both characters but you randomly get assigned a master. I as the GM can have the master do a certain number of things against your wishes every session depending on their personality. Every time I do this it gives you a "Fate Point" (we're using hero points).

Also you get a noble phantasm which is a single level 9 Maneuver or minor artifact weapon which I work with you to design.
>>
>>52266332
Hey guys, FYI, i'm extending the application period of this so I can wait out the other games and pick off their stragglers i mean not force people to pick and choose and give them more than enough time

With the item mastery feats, it says I need a base fort save of +4, +6, or +7 depending on the feat. Is that coming from my class, or if I have have a high con, class bonuses, feats, and traits will that satisfy the requirement?

Because that definitely interested me, but it seemed like it was off the table.
>>
>>52266968
It's not weak, because you can focus on boosts and still wreck face. It's just that it's way easier to make even better, so it's boring.
When you're given a bevy of options, few people will want to go for the already-strong things to make stronger. A lot of people, given the choice, will instead choose to take weaker options and then trick them out to be cool and fun; it lets them flex their optimization-muscles without actually breaking anything.

Base <X> Saves refer only to bonuses coming from your class levels, nothing more. However, by RAW (if you're not using Fractional BAB/Saves), if you multiclass into multiple classes with good Fortitude saves, you'll get that extra 1st-level bump to a save multiple times, allowing you to access Item Mastery feats slightly faster.

A young nobleman (female), who uses his skills to fight injustice wherever it rears its ugly head.

Good:

The writing does an excellent job of reflecting the character's devil-may-care personality. All the little tidbits in the bulletpoints at the end significantly flesh her out by using her actions, rather than simply saying "she thinks/feels/does X," a trap which even the best apps I've reviewed thus far sometimes fall into.

Character perfectly fits the tone of the AP. This is one of the few characters that wouldn't work anywhere else.

Background NPC is named! And said NPC isn't a mentor!

Bad:

Dunno if I could "buy" this character's jump into the more militaristic aspects of the revolution. I think she needs a slightly bigger push.

Other than kidnapping her friends/family, I don't see many potential subplots for the GM to take advantage of.

Yo dawg, I heard you like Bards...

I just took a shower and I'm wondering if his Devil Fruit honestly just made him into a lich without the evil.

Think about it, liches are undead so they have no Con and use Cha for everything, and when statting a lich I believe it gives you a template that boosts your Cha (among other things) during the ritual. That kind of thing would be PERFECT for a minmaxing Bard/Swashbuckler, both of which use Cha for almost everything and also explains why Brook isn't quite as strong in combat as the Monster Trio.

That just leaves me wondering, if I build him assuming he's a lich, is there an ability stat spread that I should use or do I build him as his original species first then apply a template?

John Henry as Berserker?
>>
>>52266864
Yeah, go prestige into Arcane Savant. You eventually get the ability to cast from scrolls using your own caster level instead of the caster level of the spell on the scroll. Since the UMD DC for activating a scroll is based on the caster level, it means the DC for you to activate a scroll will increase by one ever time you level up. At that point, you need bonuses other than just your skill ranks to keep up.
>>
>>52267205

I was just about to look into that because magical aptitude offers a better bonus over the long run.

I agree, and I'm going to imagine for hilarity's sake that his Phylactery is his afro. At the very least, from a Pathfinder perspective, it would make sense to have it be that to give a mechanical reason for him to be so protective of it.

Also in response to the current Ranged debate, one thing I always find funny that people neglect to think about a lot in these kinds of discussions is the inherent difference between Range and Melee, that being that Range is almost as if not just as powerful as Melee but you know, AT RANGE. Meaning that you're dealing just as much punishment as the guy with the sword but from all the way over on the other side of the battlefield.
>>
>>52267281

I'm playing a bard and really trying to have something for every combat situation to give my party the edge. Three guys stack up in a 10 ft square? Drop a grease. Swarms. Alchemist's Fires and Acid Flasks aplenty. BBEG has high AC? Aid another! BBEG has a save-or-suck? Saving Finale!

My last adventure, the heavy dpr guy wasn't there, so the party kind of sucked. Decided that I need to pick up some damaging options too, so at least my character survives if no one else does.

Psychic Armory isn't even a PoW archetype, that's the Warsoul. A regular soul-archer would basically be using a longbow anyways, just a wis-based one.

Without even touching Aegis (and boy can aegis ever touch things):

Elemental Nimbus Fire: 2x Initiation Modifier per shot in fire damage (oh don't even try to whine about the type we'll deal with immunities in a moment). However, on the off-chance it can't stack with Cascade, we'll leave the stance entirely out of it for now.

Elemental Breach: Ignore all Energy Resistances/Immunities and +50% to all damage of your active energy type for 1rd.

Cascade of Elemental Wrath: Full Attack, + 1 additional shot above and beyond everything for just 3 animus if you have it. Each shot is entirely of your active damage type and deals additional damage equal to 1d6+Initiation Modifier of the active damage type.

From the boost+wrath alone your volley at BAB 16+ will be 8 arrows (Animus Shot + Haste + Rapidshot + Manyshot + 3 additional iteratives). Each will tally all that damage up and x1.5 it, ignoring resistances and immunities of the target.

With no effort, NO FUCKING STANCE YET, no type-switching like you SHOULD be doing with the feat chain, with init-mod of +8 we're already looking at a bare minimum of 2d6+5(Enh)+6(meh Str)+10(Deadly Aim BAB 16)+1d6+8, or due to type-change: 1.5*(3d6+29): an average of 59.25 per arrow, with virutally no optimization and just a single fucking stanceless pair of a single discipline's abilities.

Add in the stance damage if nimbus combines, or worse yet throw in a twisted-wind-shot from solar wind by using the riven hourglass level 8, and you should clear into the 4 digits without much work.

If you REALLY wanna start doing big damage though, well, we'll have to pick our class and abilities a little more closely.

Several +1d6 options or better: Nimbus Stance lets you pick between Fire (init mod to damage), Electrical (+1d6) or Cold (+1d6) and if that would be a problem you can switch to Earth (+1 effective weapon size) instead. At level 6 you should have manyshot, rapidshot, can easily have haste (RH), and two normal attacks.

A level 6 Flux/Hourglass user can thus be running around with, before any feats or enchantments, 5 arrows per round, 4 of which are fired at full bonus. You still have a swift action to either add force damage to an attack, or to have used a counter; solar wind's intercepting shot is particularly nice as it helps protect allies as well. If solar wind, level 7 would unlock searing break, where you'll add an additional 3d6 to each attack.

Shifting Goalposts, asshole. "Archery is weak".
Not "archery is not as powerful as X", flat out declaration: "archery is weak in PoW".

That means it's a positive declaration, which means burden of proof is required from you, not from the people who didn't even need to try and prove you wrong until you provide this.
>>
>>52268034
That's not even close to the same thing. The difference is the following: A monk cannot function on their own, without a party to support them (many characters are like this, those that aren't are considered overpowered, such as the INT-SAD wizard). An archer still does perfectly well, even greatly, in PoW while competing against Scarlet Throne users, because archery goes from Great into Fantastic, while melee combat turns from Decent into Fantastic; the jump is more noticeable in the latter, but they are at the same bracket at the end of it all.
>>52268054
Hold on, are you against Fuckface's claim, or against the rest of us who are shitting on him for the claim?
>>
>>52268067
I am against the claim that archery is weak in PoW, and against the shifting goalposts of "no one plays at these levels you can't do shit at level 5-6".

Way I see it, anything that with only basic optimization in the field can take down at least CR+1 and better as you put in more effort is not a weak combat style. Archery opens you up to doing way more with your remaining "build" than trying to get your damage up to par. There's no way the most multiattack-happy single weapon is weak when it's going to be grabbing all those per-shot upgrades available.

>Ends up getting involved in Wizard Ball

A young gamer, streamer, and general dva.

Good:

OVERWATCH MEMES SON

A sports star is an unexplored angle (for some reason /pfg/ doesn't have a huge love for sports) that could potentially be interesting if the flavor was fully embraced.

Bad:
Wizardball and its related paraphenalia is anachronistic as fuck, with no good reason; other than the author wants to play DVa. The joke may have been cute if it had been executed with any degree of finesse or subtlety. A Diva bard named Hana is *plenty* to get the point across. This is just kinda insulting.

Being on a first-name basis with Shensen is a bit much, especially considering she's the iconic NPC of the AP.

Personality is bland and one-dimensional; the bit with her parents at the start is really the only bit of human emotion we see from her.

"Inner fanaticism and rage" is hardly the term I would use to describe her reactions to Thrune.

Yet another Bard. A bard with a backstory that had to be twisted and contorted to support a bard.

This is Hana's submitter.

I do agree with you that Hana was a parody character. She's written to be a gamer girl, and I had to finagle the whole "gamer girl" concept into Golarion. She has a lot of jokes built into her character as well - only her name was Overwatch, but she had "Wizardball Python" and others as well.

However, I wrote her that way because I felt she was a good fit for the general silly and lighthearted tone that the GM wanted for his campaign.

I don't necessarily disagree with your review, but I look forward to your writing in hopes of getting constructive criticism to improve my writing, and I felt that there wasn't much of that in your review, and there wasn't any specific points on where or how the personality might be made more interesting other than a generic "it sucks" as soon as you got to the gamer girl part. So, in the interest of personal improvement, can I ask how you would improve the post-gamer girl parts of her personality? She's currently written as:

- Ecstatic that she found something she's good at, and annoyed that the government took it away from her.
- Wants attention and popularity to offset her past depression, hence the "streams".
- Puts on performances for her fans, both out of caring and out of a need to be popular.
- Still very devoted to her parents, and doesn't do what she wants to (protest) in order to not drag them into the mess.

Thanks.

Something about the reviews tonight has been bothering me and this made me understand what, they feel more rushed and less constructive than usual. Usually I like to stick around for these just to see what's said about other characters but it's kind of felt less useful with the current batch, not much beyond the usual call for names.

Which I still disagree with unless you need to refer back to someone a lot, just because it leaves the DM room to fuck around if you leave names out.

First off, thanks for trying to initiate a dialogue, rather than just calling me faggot! If I'm being unfair, I'd like to know why, so that *I* can improve.

Alright, now on with the rebuttal.

> I felt that there wasn't much of that in your review, and there wasn't any specific points

Correct. I didn't dig into specifics, because this character looked like a one-note joke. Now that you've actually demonstrated that you care, I'll be more than happy to dig into it in-depth.

>However, I wrote her that way because I felt she was a good fit for the general silly and lighthearted tone that the GM wanted for his campaign.

This is the core of the issue.

I don't think the joke works; the gamer paraphernalia feels out of place, and is actively detrimental to the app, because it weakens the traits you've put into the character; since all of them are part of the archetype.

I'll try explain using the traits you've listed.

>Ecstatic that she found something she's good at
That's true for basically every streamer; few people hate the game they're streaming.

> Wants attention and popularity.
While it's not true, there's a pretty huge stereotype that the only reason girls stream is for attention.

>Puts on performances for her fans, both out of caring and out of a need to be popular.

Once again, not a unique trait.

With the exception of her parents, which I said was legitimately good, and the constant battle with depression, which isn't really supported by the text (but is also good), every personality "trait" you've listed can be summed up by saying she's a "gamer girl."

That's my issue with the character, and the app in-general.

It spends too much time building up the machinery and framework to support the joke, that it seems to forget that there needs to be a well-rounded character at the core.

Whether I'm being fair or not is certainly debatable but that was the thought process behind my original rating.

BUT, it doesn't have to be that way!
>>
I am entirely against this. Running two biweekly games will not actually reduce your workload (since you will still be running Hell's Rebels once a week) and will reduce the individual quality of each game (because your focus is split, the players' overall investment and attention span is lowered, and the group does not have as clear a picture of what happened in the last session).

If your reasoning for reducing the game's frequency to once every other week had something to do with an extremely tight schedule from day to day with minimal time to dedicate to tabletop gaming, I suppose I could understand such a thing. "I cannot decide which players to choose, so I will " however, is flimsy rationale that makes you sound weak, indecisive, and more concerned with trying to please everyone because you cannot bear the thought of turning people down.

Also, bear in mind that a campaign that takes place every other week game actually makes scheduling more inconvenient for some people, myself included. If I, for example, devote every other Thursday to this game, then unless I just so happen to find an every-other-week Thursday game that slots in perfectly (unlikely), every other Thursday of mine will be spent doing something other than actually playing.

As well, you had explicitly stated in the original listing that the game would run once every week, possibly once every other week due to your own scheduling concerns. If you run two games every other week, then there is the distinct possibility that you might have to cancel one group's game in a given week, which means that that group now has a four week gap between sessions.

What did he mean by this?

I'm obviously not finished yet, but here's what I've got so far for the Brook sheet. I opted to have the Skeleton count as one full level since the amount of ability score boosts, DR, and everything else is more than enough to equal out against a gestalted level IMO. Also it's just easier having the actual classes be even instead of choosing one level to be Skeleton Warrior/Bard, for instance.

>>
>>52268900
I completely agree with touhou here, actually.
Running two games is fine, but hindering one just to let the second happen is bad practice.

I think the GM's new idea to run the first as planned, and the second alongside at a slower rate, is an improvement, though it might lead to other problems.
>>
>>52268935
He's not wrong though. It means some of the story is getting split up, less attention to either set of characters, and the scheduling pretty much means a single cancelled session is a deathblow.

Does that really sound okay?
>>
>>52268892
Now for part 2.

Gonna break down potential changes that I'd make, by area.

Personality:
As-is, she seems too nice, too good, too considerate, too... bland. Even a good person has negative personality traits, but I'd be hard pressed to name any Hana has. Given her profession, pride would be the obvious sin for her to commit (but one that's been done to death), although envy and greed also make strong cases.

Perhaps she subtly sabotages her teammates, because she *needs* to be the star, the center of attention. That would give her a decent personality conflict during the campaign.

Maybe she wants more money, more fame, more everything, and that greed drove her to take a bribe from Barney, to put a positive spin on the game's banning. It gives her a bit of a weakness, and makes her initial refusal to join the protests more than just "I'm too nice."

Dunno, there are probably tons of better ideas; but there should be something.

Bring up her depression more. It should feel like this rumbling black cloud, just kinda sitting in the background, reminding her of what happens if she fails.

Backstory:
If the sport is the only thing keeping her from falling into a blackhole of despair, why isn't she the one addicted to Pesh?

Mention how the money she made went back to support her parents, and how she feels like she "owes" them something. That makes the loss of the sport more of an emotional gut punch, and would explain *why* she's willing to take the desperate measures that the campaign will require her to take.

I'd lower the important of Shensen. Having her be the team's sponsor and inspiration? Great. Having her directly train the PC? Not great.
>>
>>52269027
I have a very hard time buying that 2hu could believably play a character with the silly hipster vibe the game is going for. What's more, it's an AP, so there's roughly a 100% chance he has read all 6 books cover to cover. Do HR applicants want to play with someone who has read the entire book, plays only anime traps, and is probably doing the Int-optimization thing?
>>
What's this about touhou having a guaranteed spot in HV?
When did that happen?
>>
>>52268892
Many thanks for the clarification. I think I have a better idea of your criticism now.

> the gamer paraphernalia feels out of place

I kinda understand this, but Hana actually came out of a convo with the DM about him wanting to start the players off in a maid cafe, and I directly got his greenlight on Wizardball and the gamer girl part before even writing the character.

From that and the other stuff I gathered, it seems that HR is more meant to be a silly, hip, and fun game that's making fun of the premise. Hana isn't a character that I'd insert into a more serious premise, but she actually seemed to fit the campaign's tone well, and I actually kinda want to play a gamer girl type of character.

> ...is actively detrimental to the app, because...all of them are part of the archetype.

I understand your complaint now, but I don't know if just removing the gamer girl part will actually make Hana a better character. Sure, an attention-seeking gymnast or ice skater would be more novel of an idea, but in terms of actual roleplaying, they would be the same character - just one that occasionally rolls Profession (Gymnastics) rather than Profession (Wizardball).

It's something I'll look into - though I did make the "gamer girl" attributes unique to her in the writeup. For example, she's so into wizardball not just because she's good at it, but because she failed at the two other things she tried and just wants something that makes her special so that she can please her parents. Her desire for attention was born from the same; it's not just a trope, but something that's reasonable for her to possess as a character. For me, I think it's the difference between, say, a generic tsundere and Aisaka Taiga - one uses it just as a trope, while the other tries to justify it.

I'll see if I can write the backstory in a way to make this more clear though.

>>
>>52269093
Those are really good ideas. I'll need to give this quite a bit of thought - though it will have to fit with her desire to appease her parents by being successful. Off-hand, a lot of those ideas fit really well, and I think I can bring up her depression and her need to be the best to live up to her parents' "indigo child" expectation.

The reason why she isn't addicted to Pesh is mostly for RP reasons. I didn't want to RP a drug addict, so that got left out of the character's table.

Many thanks. This is the sort of criticism that I'm really looking for in your reviews, and I now have a lot to think about. I think I can still rewrite Hana in the few days before the choices are made.

I can see that now that you've explained it, but here's the thing. Showing them as part of her past isn't enough; because none of those issues just go away.

They're still lurking around, shaping and molding her personality. So... if you're going to re-write, I wouldn't solely focus on making the root causes more apparent, I'd also show the effects. This isn't a healthy mindset for a teenager to have, especially not one in a such a stress filled environment. Something's gotta give, and I think the audience wants to be there when it does.

Does rapid shot count as an iterative for manyshot's combat trick?

2hu was apparently instrumental in designing the game.

Got it. This has been very insightful. Thank you very much.

I apologize for taking up so much of your review time on my character.

I'm just saying, he likes maids, especially if they have a penis. He apparently had a great deal of input on the game. The maid cafe is almost certainly his idea. It'd also be a good bet that his character is a trap that works in this cafe.

oh god you're not even wrong

>It'd also be a good bet that his character is a trap that works in this cafe

of course nobody has seen this character that is apparently automatically getting in the game

Yeah, but I feel like having a crack at it myself. He and I see to be thinking along different lines anyway.

>Enchantment spending system
I wasn't aware that was one of the Armorist's issues. What would you suggest in its place?

>Just shiny new toys
I was of the impression that a lack of actual toys WAS the Armorist's problem.

So are these the same poster, or two different ones?
