I mean yhea, that's a lot of flamers but what are you hoping to kill besides orks with this thing ?

Any proper gunline or mechanized army just rolls over your list. As IG, you need long range or you will get crushed.

I would can the entire Fast Attack slots for one more Wyvern and a couple of Manticores or Basilisks.

I would lose the Platoon entierly and upgrade these vets Chimeras into Valkyries too, and lose the Heavy Flamer on that melta squad, it serves no purpose.

You should have enought points left to get yourself another Leman russ too.

If you REALLY want to play blob guards with mortars and shit then try a Krieg list. But be aware, that shit costs a lot of money and your turns will last half an hour.

Alright, I got this so far, total would be 1750.

Questions from a beginner:

1) Is this even a legal list, so far?

2) If so, how fucked am I? I'd play it online, no need to be a WAAC army, just want to have fun and not lose every single match ever.

Obs: Uriah would deploy with the meltacunts in the metal box. Interrogator deep strikes with one of the terminator formations.

3) What toys should I kit the Interrogator with?

4) Wat add or remove to make it okay?

Reposting from last thread:
Looking to sell some models. USA only. Most of this is NIB with the following exceptions:
-The Dark Eldar Wyches, Warriors, and one Raider are open but complete
-The Dark Eldar incubi are partially build but complete
-The Eldar Cloudstrike Squadron (the 3-Falcons box from Apocalypse) is open and one model partially built
-One Catachan battleforce is open and missing a few pieces (used in a Cadian/Catachan kitbash from half a decade ago), but the other is unopened.
-The Leman Russ is open but looks complete.

The Cadian boxes are all of the older 20-count packaging, NOT the current 10-man format.
I'm not sure I'm willing to get rid of the Russ or Chimera as I could still use them.

I thought of a way to buff horde armies like Nids and Orks through a global rule :

>The turn an unit makes an assault, if this unit is locked in combat with another unit counting less models, then each model of the assaulting unit gains +1A. If the assaulting unit counts twice as much models or more, each model of that unit also gains +1S.

just got back from my local GW

dude that owns the store is saying there are very significant rumblings, basically confirmed, of plastic sisters coming down the pipe this summer or possibly winter at the latest. Veridyan sold way better than they were expecting.

>>
>>52240188

Elite command squads say you're fucking wrong.

Also, having a priest as a legit HQ is a nerf because before you could take up to 5 priests whereas now you're limited to 2 and have no other HQs. However, you can ally a priest I suppose with its solo formation.

>>52239522

They have 2 official codexes, both of which are legal. The 6th Ed Adeptas Sororitas Codex has rules for old Celestine and more priests with a proper henchmen squad. Imperial Agents is mostly the same except Command Squads are elite, which is awesome, Rhinos and Immolators are solo FA options, and the henchmen have been split into solo squads.

There are 3 formations in IA:

>Priest Delegation
Literally a priest and up to one elite. This give Shield of Faith to the formation.

>Vestal Task Force
Alternate CAD that requires HQ, 2 Troops, 1 Elite. Instead of ObSec troops, once per game, you get to reroll all saving throws of 1 until your next turn. It's shitty.

>Ecclesiarchy Battle Conclave
3-10 units of henchmen and a priest that all form one mega blob and have Shield of Faith.
>>

I was thinking about some anti-blob measures, but you're right, it's kind of pointless if they don't have the mobility for flamers anyway.

And I heard he was bretty gud, but okay I changed it for a priest who still lets me reroll hymns and acts of faith thanks to his litanies and costs a lot less.

More suggestions?

>>
>>52240683
Exactly why I don't want to play Suit spam. From my recollection gunline benefits from markerlights and can generally shit out more of them, but doesn't immediately become useless once they die off. Its easier to protect your markers too.

Anyone, please correct me if I'm completely off in my recollection.
>>
>>52240562
I said 6e you twat.
Non FoC priest is the best thing

IA has elite Command squad, with Castellans they are HQ. You can have a squad as your HQ no idea why but you can.

>>52240602
Priest are good and Jacob is good, but they are not very good outside of Melee squad or squads that you know they are getting assaulted. (IG blobs for tarpiting, priest are awesome there)

Veterans are a hit or miss. Most of the time they are not worth it. You can give them a Storm Bolter for extra 24" dakka.
>>

You can count them as 40k if you want, too.

>>

>dude that owns the store is saying there are very significant rumblings, basically confirmed, of plastic sisters coming down the pipe this summer or possibly winter at the latest
Store owners don't hear anything that far out, like ever.

If this is "basically confirmed" point to a rumour-monger with a successful record who can verify, because those guys hear stuff like this way before the redshirts.

>1) Is this even a legal list, so far?
Yes
>2) If so, how fucked am I? I'd play it online, no need to be a WAAC army, just want to have fun and not lose every single match ever.
I can't speak for the Deathwing portion, but the sisters side is getting you nowhere. The biggest problem is the troops not having a transport. If you can't get immolators, get rhinos.

>Obs: Uriah would deploy with the meltacunts in the metal box. Interrogator deep strikes with one of the terminator formations.
You have a priest, I'm sure this is a mistake. Uriah shouldn't be with a suicide unit, which is what melta doms are. He isn't needed, really.

>4) Wat add or remove to make it okay?
You need a transport for those troops, and you don't need or want the extra body. Keep them at 5 because there is no benefit. They're cheap enough that even if you go to 10, you might as well take another unit for more weapons.

>>52240602
>pretty good
Jacobus is a meme from 5th edition when they changed how faith worked. You don't need a priest by any stretch of the imagination. If you really want to reroll faith, pay 10pts for loud Hailers on your tanks.

Speaking of, your troops still have no ride. Changing them to SB/HB makes them tax units. If that's how you want them, don't expect them to accomplish anything but sitting on an objective and dying.

You don't really need to go back to the drawing table. Celestine, 2 HF/F troops in rhinos, melta doms in an immolator, and 2 exorcists is a solid starting point for sisters. Rhinos aren't ideal because immolators are a cheap upgrade, but they're still fine. If you want to reroll faith, Loud Hailers are 10pt vehicle upgrade that lets everything within 12" reroll failed tests. You can take 3 them for the price if a naked priest and will do a lot more for faith.

Hey guys, I'm new to all of this. I'm building my Imperial Guard army right now and I bought the "Start Collecting" pack and I'm not sure how I should put together my Cadian Heavy Weapon Team. >>
>>52240900
>>52240566

I'm going to assume most power weapons are swords.
Storm shield and any power weapon is a shitty combo. Take a Lightning claw or a power fist instead.
10 man veteran units are a huge target for anti-MEQ units, which have no shortage in this meta. Split em up as best you can.
Put 4 frag cannons in a drop pod and 3 meltas + shotgun guy in the other pod.
Leave the stalker bolter unit to camp an objective and put wounds on high toughness units.
The bolter unit should also camp some midfield objective.
Give your vanguard vets lightning claws instead as your not benefiting from the 2 CCW bonus.
Your Valkyrie is better off with rocket pods and a Multilaser.
I don't like that people use the old inquisitor *just* for servo skulls. What power are you hoping to get with a single mastery level?

Welcome to Sisters of Battle.

If they're a problem in your meta, you do have options. Retributers with an ADL quad gun, IA Valkyries, or an Avenger from FW. Dangles have fliers, too.

Otherwise, the sisters list looks good, just you don't need the SB on the Dom immo. They're ok if you have points to spare, but they're not like exos where you really want to save the turret.

GW will make them full-on Sigmarine style reworks of the concept if they do make numarines, not just a slightly tweak to the design.

Otherwise every cunt in the hobby will just proxy the numarines with their existing marine force and they won't sell any.

This is like hunting through pics of chapter masters before the Guilliman mini was revealed, thinking his model would just be a slightly scaled up version with a headswap.

Literally, the only official VISIBLE differences are these 3 things.

I think it doesn't really matter if little Timmy wants to make his searg a mk8 or not.
>>
>>52241977
In all the early designs, Mk 7 and 8 used the same legs and the same backpack, both of which were different from Mk6, as seen in >>52241574. Having models with those designs does not make those models not what they are.

Furthermore, the entire fluff behind Mk 8 on sergeants is that Mk 8, being in limited production, is only given to veterans as a symbol of status. A Mk 8 sergeant is supposed to be visual representation of a veteran sergeant versus a regular sergeant. As far as GW and the fluff is concerned, that IS a Mk 8 model.

Not him, but for fun, notice that the Honor Guard on the left doesn't have the inside disk on his foot, but I think has one on the outside.

Also notice the Deathwatch biker has the disk on his foot but is clearly not wearing Mk 8.

Using the disk as a basis and pretending its standardize is very disingenuous.

mk7 and m8 are completely compatible. The fact that literally every tactical squad mixes the chestpiece and legs should be enough of an indication that it's possible.

Ravenwing knights also have mk8 legs.

Honestly, I don't even use Hailers. Preferred enemy for a turn isn't exactly game breaking, though having them for the Doms is often the go-to.

That configuration is fine. You can have the HB squad bunker down 12" away from rets for their rending and provide a decent area of HB fire and send the sacrificial troops up field.

Or

You can shift rhino Hailer to an exorcist, park that 12" from you rets, change the HB troops to HFF troops and then roll both squads up the table together.

Both options are fine. I prefer the latter because that's just how I play with my SoB armored column.

OK, I decided to do my batrep anyway. Apologies for blurry pictures.

Slight proxying occurring, because he brought a Baneblade and a Knight to a 1500 game and was smug about it while we were writing lists. KatDs are Arc Breachers, Plasma Calivers are Arc Rifles. No idea what the hell was up with his Knight Crusader.

Took a pic of my army while he was deploying. Coteaz did not help me seize, and I was scared because Kataphron Breachers don't respond well to Avenger Gatling Cannon. Then something magical and idiotic happened.

Turn 1, he moved everything forward slightly and Fired Ze (hunter-killer) Missiles, as well as everything else, and the most amazing feat of Distraction Carnifex I've ever seen happened.

Literally everything shot at the Kastelans, and the second one keeled over just as the last Storm Bolter shots bounced uselessly along ceramite plating, leaving the Datasmith hiding behind a box and First Blood unclaimed. >>
>>52242660
because every unit in it is overcosted, you can't take their basic walker is squadrons, where you can take fffffucking riptides in squadrons, etc etc.

Because shooting > assault by a large margin in the current edition and the orks are a melee focused army, and on top of that they have fucking I2 and S3 despite being a "melee race".

Because nobody on the planet seems capable of giving the orks anything without taking something away. The only respite they have from their shit aim is gitfindas, which can only be taken by one overcosted anti-infantry unit, and they only work when they stand still anyway.

Compare, for example, the ta'unar supremacy armour to the stompa. the ta'unar is 600 points and the stompa is 770 points. you can figure out the rest.

On my turn, my sneaky Infiltrators dived behind a building to block LoS from the Knight and Baneblade, and everything else poked guns and optics out of their various hiding places, Benediction of Omniscience in effect.

Pretty much everything with a Haywire gun shot at the Baneblade, downing it once the Dunecrawler chipped in with a Neutron Laser blast. It scattered 11" towards me with a Titanic Explosion, and killed three of my Vanguard, as well as glancing his Sentinel.

Rangers managed to shave off a hull point from the Chimera, and the Infiltrators took a wound off a Weapons Team.

He refused to remove his arm for photos, and his whole army pushed up and opened fire on the Kastelans. I lost two from one unit and one from the other, plus a wound off my Inquisitor, but luckily they both held morale.

My Datasmith poked his head out of his hiding place and decided to go down guns blazing. He and the Rangers shot the Taurox dead, with a little help from an Inquisitorial combi-melta. There is a TWO YEAR DEVELOPMENT CYCLE!

As in it takes TWO YEARS, that is TWENTY FOUR MONTHS, as in ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR WEEKS which is like SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY DAYS, for any miniature project to be developed from test sculpts to final sculpts to masters to CAD to die to cast to box to warehouse to shipping to sale.
Now that is an approximation, some take a few months less, most take longer. Sometimes by an order of several years.

Unless GW has has final CAD sculpts done, then Sisters will still be at the early stages of development, and of course they would be as GW will endeavour to not sit on a mostly finished product for to long as that is a product NOT MAKING THEM MONEY! Once they approve the final test sculpts they tend to go into production as quickly as possible.

If Celey and Miss Failcast were 'test' minis to gauge interests then Sisters were barely yet in the development cycle.
If they are going all out and bring us a full Sister army now, it won't be till the END OF 2018 at it's soonest.

And if they were not the 'test' sculpts then Sisters are even further out as if they were coming soon it would be here now already to capitalise on the recent attention the Sisters just got.

Tl;dr read first sentence.

What tips would you have for someone who bought the Dark Vengeance set but is finding it VERY hard to keep up with all the rules and specific situations that you need to take into account?

I'm trying really hard to get into it, but it took me half an hour just to resolve a single squad's shooting phase, and I have no doubts that I fucked that up somehow too.

Am I missing something, or was Cypher's plasma pistol nerfed by removing the does not get hot rule? The Cypher data slate had the following sentence: "Note that Cypher's plasma pistol does not Get Hot".

Also: Is it even worth it to field the Fallen Champions formation from Gathering Storm instead of the version from the dataslate? Chosen are cheaper and have more options and having ATSKNF around Cypher should even out the Ld9 vs Ld10.

The new formation still cannot have Rhinos, right? I am asking because they don't even write that they have Power Armour and having no special rules at all seems strange in 40k.

Game ended there, since I'd amassed so many points from killing the respawning Scions that I could have just hid the Dominus or one of the Inquisitors in a crate and waited for the game to end before the Knight got there to smash him. Glorious victory!

Ave Deus Mechanicus, playing that guy was a slog. I had to constantly remind him how every bloody weapon worked and that lascannon were not in fact Heavy 2. When the newbie Dominus knows the Guard dex and the basic rules better than the Baneblade owner, problems exist.

Next game, remember not to shoot easy charge targets so my Infiltrators can move forward more, and to talk up the Kastelans so they can absorb more entire turns of fire.

I'm pretty sure he didnt have 1500pts list. Baneblade + knight crusader are already 1000pts. Taurox is 80, chimera 65, lemanruss 150, heavy weapon squad 90pts, command squad 60pts, 3 ratlings 30pts.

Thats more like ~1750pts than 1500pts.

One squad of Havoks down. Not sure if I should do the second squad of ACs, the ML squad, the plasma(volkite)/melta chosen, or the tacticals/csm next. There's also a second squad of raptors to do, too, plus termies.

What do you guys think?

Also, should I put the backpacks and/or shoulders on before painting, or wait? It doesn't seem like that big of a deal painting around them, especially since I can remove the weapons.

Also, you can't see it from the blurry rushed photos, but the Admech emblem on top of the Knight was painted a blotchy and thick blue and yellow, along with the literally blutacked together weapons. Seeing as I bought myself pic related, I like to think my Dominus is having a go at rehabilitating the poor thing. Going to have a crack at magnetizing it tomorrow, since my greenstuff and magnets showed up too.

>>52243157

I suppose I can't complain, since I had primed stuff on the table too, but I admit that did make me slightly pissed off, especially since it was apparently a Scion with a Volley Gun. At least give them the semblance of functionality.

>>52243239
>>52243279

Son of a bitch, I was too busy trying to remember all my Psychic powers, Doctrinas and Canticles and such to realize that, Admech is a tad complicated. I should make a little cheat sheet for writing down powers and used Canticles, and such.

5 ratlings, there was some special weapons and such in the Command Squad, sponsons and such on the Russ, few other bits. Didn't have time to add it all up, but with upgrades that's looking like an 1850 list to me.

>>52243322

I will admit that's making me feel a little smug. He was a bit of an idiot with his target priority, though. No idea why the Heavy Bolters, multilasers and Taurox Prime are shooting the Kastelans, he got really fixated on them once they tanked the Baneblade cannon.

>>
>>52243125
>>52243166
Removing the removal is a nerf. The dataslate mentions that it does not have Gets Hot (I was citing that) while the Gathering storm does not mention anything about this at all - oh wait... it is still there! Because all plasma weapons have Gets Hot in their profile but this profile does not, it just says it's a plasma pistol.
This makes the Fallen naked under their robes though because the whole book does not mention power armour as equipment, that is just part of their stats now.
I hate their inconsistent writing style of the rules.
>>
>>52243363
Hmm. The Vanq had Hbolter sponsons, the Sentinel had a hunter-killer, there was a Guard squad with two flamers and two grenade launchers in the Chimera, three Volley Guns per Stormtrooper squad, the Taurox has a gatling and the CCS had an Astropath.
Hang on a min, I'm going to list his army with what he told me it had, and see how many points it was.
>>
>>52243473
No, it says it's Cypher's Plasma Pistol. Not a fucking plasma pistol. Your autistic interpretation of the rules isn't RAW or RAI
>>
>>52243478
Well, normal Guard squads can have 1 special weapon. Their Platoon Command Squads and Company Command Squads can have 4 special weapons. Their Veteran Squads can have 3 special weapons.

The Scion squads can have 2 special weapons and the Scion Command Squads can have 4 special weapons.

>>
>>52243649
That list is a mess. If that was his real list, that would be illegal and poorly made. It's like he took whatever he owned and made up rules or at least thought he knew them. Like he skimmed the codex and went from there without ever referencing it again.
>>
>>52242272

burnaz are great, very situational if you use them properly aka burn stuff.
But in melee, they are fun thanks to their power weapon

>>52243688

Probably. I had to call him out a couple times, so I suspect he doesn't know his book terribly well, but an extra 500 points is a bit of a stretch to call accidental.

I don't know how he organized his list beyond having a Hellrain, I just saw stuff that looked Guardish and ran with it, since I keep my own lists with simple Battle Congregation/Skitarii Maniple for the most part. No idea if his was some mishmash of formations and wild conjecture.

1500+ is fine. If you don't have the kind of weaponry to defeat one in 1500 points then you've made a shitty list.
>>

I don't mind LoW in 1750+ games, unless there's like 3 of them, a single one isn't the worst thing in the world and most armies can deal with them adequately.

I have used 2 in an 1850pt game, they both died to an insane amount of haywire in the second turn, but that was a special case where a friend wanted to see how quickly he could kill 2 knight with deldar
I generally avoid bringing one unless I ask my opponent if they are okay with it before hand

Honestly, I trust people playing Eldar Scatspam more than that. Actually cheating is a whole other level, even if I stand a better chance to win on the whole against the cheats.

>>52243789
Tempted. Make some written lists for varying points values beforehand, pick one and drop it on the table so I can watch him do his, too. I tailored mine for AV because Baneblade + Knight + transports + Sentinel + Russ is a bit much for plasma calivers and such to deal with when my Dominus had to run through a killing field to Haywirepunch people.

>>52243906
>>52243931

I have no idea what the fuck it was but they were using Flamers and Launchers at BS3, although that may have just been what he built them with.

>>52243839

1 at 1500 is fine for me, because Admech has a lot of ways to deal with that stuff, although 2 LoW was pushing it a little before the extra 500 points. Personally I will be saving my Knight till 2k unless someone specifically wants to fight it, because I feel I can get more essentials in my list with 400 points before then and I would feel like kind of a dick if I was right up with a Crusader at 1500.

>>52244275
BS2 has 1/3 chance to hit. So 33.33% per shot.
BS4 has 2/3 chance to hit. So 66.66% per shot.

4 shots of 33.33% is 133.33% chance to hit.
2 shots of 66.66% is 133.33% chance to hit.

And yes i know the math about these situations kinda doesnt work like that. But method like this gives general numbers how stuff works and is great help during games.
>>
>>52244287
To be fair Tau was my first army, and I played it back in 5th when we were the worst army. Also my aeldari army is harlequins and dark eldar, not the most powerful things out there.
>>
>>52244373
well, i used different method, but it still ended on 0.29 for ass4 and 0.2 for bs4 shooting
>>
>>52244419
Fair enough. I like to count stuff that if D6 is rolled 6 times, you would get all 1-2-3-4-5-6.

So there are those tac marines there. 5 of them, holding the damn objective.

How many bolters do i need to fire to kill them?
66% to hit, 33% to wound, 11% dead after saves. So 9 shots to kill one. So 36 shots.

So I'm going to take these 25 marines and shoot those five buggers because dice will always fuck with you if you expect them to do something.
>>
>>52244497
well i counted for to-hit to-wound armor pen. But simplified version works like this
Ass4 BS2 1/3 + 1/3 * (2/3)^1 + 1/3 * (2/3)^2 + 1/3 * (2/3)^3 = 0.8
Ass2 BS4 2/3 + 2/3 * 1/3 = 0.89
>>
>>52244497
>>52244532
One thing to remember though, more shots is always better.

Assuming best possible rolls
5 boyz shooting 2 shots = 10 hits max.
5 boyz shooting 4 shots = 20 hits max.

Good rolls do happen.
>>
>>52244637
considering that we both know shit about combinatorics, your method is better.
Mine just assumes that you hit at least once and does crazy branching out chart then adds every possible "hit" to general result
>>
>>52244679
It's the same reason why double the shots is always better than twin linked.

1 twin linked shot can only ever score 1 hit, where 2 shots will average out to the same, but will occasionally get 2 hits.
>>
>>52243987
calm down, it only says you can't use both profiles in the same turn
