Hm. Wanted to leave this in the last thread, but I was a bit too late. Apologies.

>One, citation please.
Exalted Core, page 81. The end of mortal character creation.

>Two, I think you are reading a section about starting your (PC) character is a mortal in a prologue.
It's not quite for prologues (preludes are a different thing), as much as it is for converting any mortal into an exalt in play.

>That is so going from mortal to exalted in play does not cost you, the player, starting charms.
This still holds though, as it is intended for PC.

>Three, the books are inconsistent (and even PC backstories) on that matter. the starting charms a PC has can be stuff they got by initial exaltation. Or they could have just manifested one the few they needed to survive whatever made them exalt, and developed the rest after exaltation but before the campaign started.
Charms are rarely ever mentioned directly in character fluff anyway.

And what PC backstories? Those are up to the player anyway. Do you mean the 'can have been exalted for a day or a year' bit for a starting character?

>Fourth no, NPC's and PC are NOT treated the same. PC's have XP for one, which in not tracked for NPC's. They have their stat block, regardless of if it would be legal for a PC.
...No, that's what I just said. They don't track XP. That's the ONLY difference between a NPC character and a PC.

Tell you what... If you can point me at even one example of any character having less than the starting amount of charms, I'll concede the point to you. Sound reasonable?

No comment on the non-charm stuff though? That seemed much more interesting to me.

You know when I first wrote the perk, I never thought people would take advantage of Self-duplication the way they have. It's interesting to see, and also slightly worrisome.
>>
>>52231210
...alright, so. I just noticed that I jumped the gun really hard and forgot to include a canon character update. As well as remove the limit on Longinus purchases.

Whoops. I'm gonna go do that now. Uh. Leave any other suggestions on this post while I'm touching that bit up.
>>
>>52231210
Why do the Longinus have a mandatory drawback? Isn't finding them supposed to be a huge deal for everyone? Why should anyone notice or suspect you if you don't display anything out of the ordinary?

From a romantic standpoint? Not at all. It would be ridiculously hypocritical of me to get all worked up about my wives/girlfriends/whatever sleeping around when I am a not insignificant amount of manwhore. As a result, we have a don't ask; dom't tell policy. It mostly works.

From a physical standpoint, even though they are functionally immortal, the easiest way to get on my bad side is to hurt them
>>
>>52231305
It's possible to sense if someone has a Sacred Gear in them, especially if it's a powerful one. That's why Raynare kills Issei at the beginning of the series, she doesn't know what he's got but she knows it's a threat. Kind of foolish of her, if she had taken the time to investigate further she could have extracted Boosted Gear for her own use, instead she killed him because "fuck this kid, I'm not going to spend any more time than I need to on him". Anyways, presumably supernatural agents would be able to sense your Sacred Gear, even if they wouldn't know what it was.
>>
>>52231362
Anon, when I say "green", I mean straight up emerald green. They're not going to mistake that I hope.

Okay, let's try this again.
0.2: Removed mandatory drawback and limit on Longinus purchases, added canon character purchase.

Noticed is a minor drawback and it doesn't really fit into the price scheme of the perk. Besides, if you've got one, people are going to sense in in-setting normally. Fiat enforcing it is kinda silly, in hindsight.
>>
>>52231210
>The final two Longinus, Innovate Clear and Telos Karma, have yet to be revealed. Should that day eventually come during your stay, you may purchase them with this option as well
I understand why you put this here, but it seems kind of silly as written. They're presumably going to "be revealed" during your stay, because you're not "staying" in a world bound to the conventions of a random manga somewhere, and thus not limited to a reader's viewpoint. It might be better to come up with some OC, or at least put this passage in the notes, which is less egregiously immersion-breaking.
>>
>>52231196
Reminder that the best way to go through this jump is to turn yourself into a rat and secretly puppeteer another student.

But yeah, it looks interesting and I intend to read through it more thoroughly in a little bit.
>>
>>52231481
>Fiat enforcing it is kinda silly, in hindsight.
Not him, but I just kind of assumed that people would have detected something in your background, before you got any concealment perks. Kind of immaterial, regardless.
>>
>>52231481
Neat. I don't think I'd purchase more than one Longinus, I can't really afford it outside of my unofficial Daydream Chain where I have infinite CP and never actually write down my build. But it's nice to have the option. I'm sure someone will use it, probably.

>a lot of subtle but useful applications.
List some of them, plz. All I can think of is using it to find people who will be important.
>>
>>52231565
Explain further, but I'll go ahead and theorize, the mangaka is incapable of focusing on anything that's not fanservice at this point so he's rushing it.
>>
>>52231157
Extremely. Being yandere is one of my flaws.
>>
>>52231744
Surprisingly little fanservice compared to it's worse actually. Pretty sure it's likely either him having the same poor pacing as ever, since there's lots of hyped fights that ended instantly in shit ways like this before OR it's a bleach thing and they're cutting the manga soon so he has to get to the final fight sooner then planned.
>>
>>52231565
And now you know how a certain someone felt.
>>
>>52231763
If it's a Bleach thing I hope that doesn't become a trend, might hit something that's actually good eventually.
>>
>>52231740
Okay, yes, that's the only thing it actually does. But what I mean is that I can think of a lot of uses for that information. Like granting people power so they have the potential to be important, then taking it away from them at a critical moment so as to break them. Or finding someone who can be important and shaping them to be your tool while they're still inconsequential, so that when you empower them they'll be loyal to you. Stuff like that.

92. Young Justice
Location: Washington D.C.
Origin: Drop-In, Race: Human, Age: 11
Skills: Manipulative, Stealthy, Smooth Talker, Gum Up The Works, Removed From Context
Super Powers: Most Common Superpower, Required Secondary Superpowers, Drain No, Incomprehensible, Toggle
Items: Costume
Drawbacks: Just A Sidekick, Never A Dull Moment

I wish to Super Powers responsibly, and this is the best way to do it. Jumpchan picked me a world of trouble for it, but I don't mind all that much. I like keeping busy.

The real problem is that no one actually listens to me, except when they need a good source of encouragement. Which is all the time because we're all fucking exhausted. I keep up the teams spirit and am the official group healer/anti-mage. My attacks cut through magic and I still have JAM, and that turns the table on most magic-based enemies. I can't solo Klarion or anything, but the Helmet of Doctor Fate took a few more years to graft itself to a new host. I feel bad for Aquagirl, but she was going to die and this seemed a decent way to put her extended time to good use.

I mostly took advantage of Not Dumb Luck, Dumb Skills, Slapstick, Numb-Minding Brilliance, and other underestimation/dumb but successful perks to actually get changes going. Robin noticed how "lucky" I was, but he was always too distracted by the mission to take advantage of it.

>>52231157
I do a terrible job at being possessive. Most of my "relationships" are just two people repeatedly seeking each other out for comfort or excitement, combined with a strong friendship. Like, when I do hook up with someone I'll still try and play matchmaker with them, and have a couple times used "You two fuck like you'd be good at fucking each other" as a reason for people to get together. The only exceptionally long-term thing is Zeke, and in that case we're more like comfort food after a break-up or bad night on the town.
>>

I'm more yandere than I generally like to admit.

But I don't actually stalk my waifus or kill anyone who could threaten our relationships.

I just ensure they only have eyes for me. Gravity Falls love potions are very helpful with that.

Of course I don't dose them in order to get them to love me in the first place. Charisma, harem, and seduction perks make it unneeded.

I dose them after we've been together for a while. It's insurance.
>>

Yeah you don't give options to buy stuff in other settings. Saying you have to steall it and pay 600 cp for it in future jumps is just splitting hairs.

As far as ISOs a perk to program dna as a code or a buy item disc that you can link to people to remove damaged code to heal them would rock. But that other idea is just terrible.

There was a series of ship imports that when applied to the Light of Terra made it stupidly fuckhuge.

Then a jump for Empire from the Ashes appeared and offered an Asgerd (planetoid warship larger than the moon) as a reward for winning a drawback scenario

People put their Asgerds into mentioned series of imports instead of the LoT with the end result being a warship roughly the size of Neptune.

Zombie, actually. It can restore you from complete obliteration, which cannot be said of Immortal. People fail to realize that Val's jumps are also powergrabby as fuck, the only difference is that she knows how to make every option equally appealing and powergrabby, unlike SJ who always OTBs and writes in an absurdly dry manner.
>>
>>52232499
Don't mention other jumps at all.
We already have stuff like garages that extend the CP bennies (auto repair/respawn) to the vehicles held within in multiple jumps.

Call it a Tron Secure Backup Server or something. Lets you create digital Images of an item to back it up, and it can restore it to a previous backup, even if consumed or totally destroyed.

Like what system restore does for your computer, but works on any item.

It has X backup slots available, and you can clear one items backup data to back up another.
Or is can backup one item now, and gains another slot for a new item every so often, like ten years or so.

Either way, it cannot backup something intelligent enough to be sentient and sapient for safety reasons due to 'issues' when the creator tried it on himself, the backup sort of taking over the server and becoming a facist tyrant.

I don't get the big deal. Why can Val's jump offer something, but SJ offering the same thing is terrible.

What qualifies as a Magic System? I'm unfamiliar with the setting, and the wiki is kind of sparse on knowledge. It seems to imply that The "Magic Systems" are all derived from the various races: there's mention of Angel, Fallen, Devil, and Human magic (Western or Eastern).

As an independent dragon, could I go for any of those as my magic system?

Or am I misinterpreting what the setting considers a proper "Magic System"?

There was a discussion a few threads back. I think people said Drain No and similar perks, except for mundane effects or things which only do it as a side effect. But I think the only thing that would really not cover is stuff like intense heat and corrosion, the former of which you can gain immunity to in lots of places and the latter which the Break power in SDS covers against.
>>
>>52232898
Cracker Jack and Heaven's jumps tend to be the same way. Those three are proof that the thread will let jumpmakers do whatever if they have plenty of fluff and good internal balance. Which doesn't bother me at all, it just amazes me how much good fluff makes a difference in how the thread reacts.

>>
>>52232985

>>
>>52232992
No, the Biggus Dickus Formula is based on certain perks and options applied to a ship that follows you from jump to jump. As opposed to jumper applied modifications to increase size then might possibly be left behind when you leave the jump, you only taking along a hunk of the ship as big as you paid for with CP with you.
>>
>>52232928
>>52232982
Internal balance is really what matters. Like, most things offered in all of their jumps (with the exception of Nametag and similarly jump-notes stuff) are justified in-setting, it's just SJ-Chan has problems pricing things relative ti each other. It's not like SJ-Chan's are usually like Vampire Diaries where the setting is made out to be way more powerful than it is, but offering immortality for 200 CP is much better than other 200 CP options in the jump. There's also the bit that Lost Odyssey was a HUUUGE game and people... were expecting a bit more, to say the least.

Magic is a bit freeform in DxD, but every race and faction has their own ways of using it. The Church/Heaven uses prayer and crosses, Hell uses vaguely Solomonic-appearing magic, etc. They're mostly 'styles' and different ways of using Magic, which is a combination of flavor and what that race/Faction would specialize in. Holy magic for Angels, Infernal magic for Devils, etc.

To anyone who was planning on making a Gamer build soon, the last four chapters have revealed that the eleminons perk is way better than we thought it was.
>>
>>52232935
>>52232952
Basically the Biggus Dickus formula goes like this:

In the Dahak Chronicles jump you can get a ship, an Asgerd-class, which is the size of the moon. Then you import that into Supreme Commander as an Experimental ACU, doubling its size. Then you import it into Five Star Stories and blow all of your CP on Size Modification. Then you import it into Titanfall and blow all of your CP again on increasing its size.

After adding up all of the increases you end up with a ship that's the size of the Milky Way.
>>
>>52233169
>eleminons
Who?
>>
>>52233169
Eleminions just starts you out with an elemental pet/waifu, you can get one on your own fairly easily.
>>
>>52233185
How does one even travel within their ship, let alone power it?
>>
>>52233138

Ey! Same here! Magic Archer was the best. Regular fire was great, Ricochet Arrows inside a corridor was great, setting a squad of zombies on fire with a shining arrow was great, but I'll tell you my real favorite part.

Self Immolation then tossing myself on an enemy to gut and carve them up. The magic flames spreading over their soon to be corpse as I hack and slash with maddening glee. If they were too big to climb on, I'd just grab them, letting the flames consume them as they struggled in my grasp.
>>
>>52233185
Didn't someone point out that the size increase in Titanfall only applied along one axis or something, so you'd end up with a ship shaped like a galaxy-long, planet-wide pencil?
>>
So, Gamer's Loot allows to, guaranteed, obtain at least /some/ loot from things that normally shouldn't allow it, like illusions. Summoning from Samurai Jack allows you to summon anything you've killed. Keep on killing Darkseid as many times as you want for whatever you want. ;^)

Check, nerfwhores.

First of all, don't reply to bait. Second, Gamer's Loot allows you to get loot from illusion, so it should probably work for summons. Though it's pretty obvious bait, and it doesn't really make much of a difference in the long term, because you'd have to fucking... I dunno, kill Darkseid first.

If you buy a 50 CP dinghy from a historical jump, or even the free Starship in Star Wars the original trilogy that is 55 meters long at max, and then add stuff to it until it is the size of a super star destroyer, or even bigger, to you really think the miles of metal you added to a meters long ship ship come along?

If that works, then look at properties that follow you. If you have this parcel of land you farm, why not just buy or conquer the land surrounding it to make one big farm and say the larger area now follows you, since it is all one thing?

I'm not saying improvements cannot be made, even making it a bit bigger, but there comes a point where it just isn't believable anymore.

Not really, it is paying a pretty high price to just start with a summon that can be obtained with a simple ritual. Sure the summon is great and buying one with CP makes it start a little stronger (according to the jumpmaker, the text currently reads as having it start at the lowest level) but you can just create your own elemental waifu or daughteru in jump.

FUCK YES, BEST PART!!! I loved to imagine even in-universe that I acted like a cackling loon because who in their right mind lit themselves on fire when they had all sorts of magic available too them? What's the enemy gonna do, try and kill you? You're already doing a good job of that yourself and bringing them down with you. I loved fighting Chimera like that, because they'd try and throw you off or roll around or snatching you away with the snake tail, but you just kept going after them, digging your daggers into their evil flesh and reintroducing them to the Arisen God of the world piece by piece until all three heads were dead and you were allowed to go about your merry way, scorched and burned but alive.

Not an import, but Non-Euclidean Mind from Creepypasta allows you to expand the inside of any spaces with expenditure of materials. YJ said it also works for vehicles and cybernetics and other "moving spaces", but that they'll cap out in size. There's no such limit for relatively stationary things like buildings, though.
>>
>>52233324

>>
>>52233216
There are generally ships that already have the problem solved. The LoT never specified because all of the improvement systems were external. I don't remember whether the Dahak had a full transport system built inside. The third "free" ship involves you fixing it up, and even if it's bigger than the LoT structurally it never has transportation issues either because most systems are concentrated.

>>
>>52233382
well that certainly puts a dent in my storage and overpopulation problems aboard the light, but I'd still like to have a titan. Quality is nice but quantity has a quality all its own, and I do so lust for a large quantity of huge ships. my own trans-universal migrant fleet. I also have a habit of dispatching numerous agents to do my work in conquering and being able to field more than one capital ship and the shard would do wonders to bringing unruly galactic populations into imperial compliance.
>>
>>52233324
Because you're not modifying the lands or structures of the property, you're just getting people to act like you own it. YJ_Anon, for example, has very much said that if you directly "modify" one of the buildings that retain modifications, then you may well have planetoids following you eventually.
>>
>>52233358
No creator mentions anything because the entire ship argument is bogus. We've already had two jumpmakers make a jump just to give themselves massive ships. When you have people willing to make a jump to get something, there's generally no point to arguing with them how it works. They're clearly more invested than you are. And even if you wanted to give them shit on their ships worked, you wouldn't be able to because they're already gone.
>>
>>52233227

>>
>>52233458
All three scenario ships in the chain are easy to retrofit into making smaller ships, two of them are basically built to do that already. With the Light of Terra being the smallest of the ones on offer, you should really just say you want a Titan because you want the EVE aesthetic, because getting a massive migrant fleet is already easily possible.

Here's my build then, it's pretty simple all things said.

High School DxD

POINTS: 1000

Start: Kuoh Academy
Age: 18 [F] (both free)
Status: Neophyte
Race: Dragon (600) +Western, Lightning aligned

Faction: Independent
-Sacred Hospitality +can bum a couch to crash on so long as I remain neutral.
-Senjutsu (100) +Ki manipulation! Always useful

Skills: Mana +access to own mana pool
Magic System +Draconic
Magician (300) +vast mana reserves for a dragon, magic power boosted, spells cost less mana

Alright, so I need to stop the Khaos chuckleheads from upsetting the peace, I figure as a draconic magic user I might stand a decent chance of that. Especially when I fold my DxD dragon form into my dragon altform gestalt thingy. All the power of a kaiju sized dragon monster scrunched down into a human-sized form.
Question about the setting: As a powerful dragon, how hard will the other factions try to recruit me? Who will go for the soft sell, and who will go for the hard sell?

Are there any individuals in particular I need to look out for as a dragon?
>>
>>52233617
You don't need to minmax to realize that the Titans don't really hold their weight size wise against the three scenario ships. The Light was already anywhere from 20 to 30 km. The Colony ship is 30 km. The Dahak makes both of those look like fleas. The Dahak with SupCom tech alone can pump out ships the size of the Light or the Colony ship.

Is there any reason to choose to be a natural Devil/Angel over being a Reincarnated Devil/Angel? You mentioned that the natural ones start out stronger, but the reincarnated ones have 300 CP worth of weapons in exchange for a bit less starting power. Since 300 CP worth of gear looks like it was supposed to be what balances Human against the superior stats of Devil and Angel, because both of those races can be taken for free with the right faction, doesn't that mean having 300 CP AND a power boost/growth potential mean they're better?
>>

>>
>>52233760
You realize the whole reason why SupCom tech is amazing is because they can defy conservation laws right? But if you're going to play the jumps don't exist because you don't know the setting card then there's nothing more to say really, you clearly just want that Titan bad enough.

People who use it aren't generally the type who like effort. Nothing wrong with that though. Just means if you're not into that sort of thing, look elsewhere.
>>
>>52233864
So what, first you didn't want it because it was minmax and too large. Then you didn't care because you didn't know about the setting. Now the science and the perks are too easy for you. I mean we can point out how the Colony ship pretty much has the same things in a smaller package and a slower rate, but you probably have no clue which jump that thing is tucked away in either.

Gamer Loot is based on difficulty. If you're doing the equivalent of killing trash mobs you're going to get the equivalent of trash loot.
>>
>>52233864
It's nobody's fault but your own if you're not ready for the big leagues. You think too small. You've got a galaxy-sized starship capable of casually building solar systems and you're thinking about how you can use it to interact with a colony of ants.
>>
>>52233889
The vast majority of jumps don't need a spaceship, much less a pocket dimension. So it's not something that's altogether very important, unless you plan on taking every jump in all the drives available. Even the Light when it came out was enough to basically flatten opposition, and the two supermassive ships that followed the Light each have their own superweapons. It's just a matter of not needing the overkill.

I'm not a fan of the Jump personally, but yeah, we got one for it. It is loads of fun though. Dragon's Dogma is so great because of the shenanigans available. Like, they've got this "don't get in the fucking water" system in place like hundreds of other games, but it's not just "fall in, you die". It's this red mist that crawls all over you said to be some weird microscopic lifeform (they give it a name in-universe that I can't remember). Anyways, point is, you're not the only one who suffers. You can actually throw goblins and wolves into the ocean and they'll get eaten too. If you play your cards just right, you can even trick cyclopses into falling off cliffs and getting eaten. I spent SO MUCH TIME in the early game just tossing shit into the ocean and giggling. Speaking of Cyclopses by the way, you can climb up their leg, up their back and onto their head before stabbing them over and over in the eye.
>>
>>52233776
I tried thinking of an answer for this but I ended up getting a headache. The short version is that this was the pricing scheme I came up with to reflect both the setting and how the factions are setup, and that humans getting an item surplus while only having to reincarnate at a lower start than their pure-blooded counterparts is...basically just the end result.

I might revisit this, but it feels like I'd just end up shuffling numbers in a frustrating way so I might be more partial to handwaving it.
>>52233893
I assume you're being cheeky, but there is an actual answer to this. Azazel does in fact work on making Artificial Sacred Gears, and has done it a few times. It's also, according to him, possible to let these 'Artificial' Gears become 'real', and for 'real' Sacred Gears to eventually grow into a Longinus. Somehow.

But yeah if that's what you're into, either join the Grigori or track down Azazel. He's a swell dude. Just get his notes before he gets his ass sealed.
>>
>>52233869
Eh, as long as I get the basics of the magic system so I can light myself on fire and hug monsters to death, I'm happy.
>>
>>52233917
>is based on difficulty.
Nope, based on what you are killing. True it might be trash tier to someone capable of farming Darkseids but that still makes it pretty awesome loot.
>>
>>52231196

>>
>>52233928
Not that anon, but that's subjective.
If you can stomp Darkseid easily enough to do it ad nauseam, then he's a trash mob to you.
No idea how you'd curbstomp comics!Darkseid, though. He's pretty powerful.
>>
>>52233669
Whoops, almost missed this. If you're a Dragon actively offering your services, you can bet the Factions are going to try and compete for it, though Heaven might be leery of you since they're mostly in favoritism towards 'pure hearted humans'. Michael himself is a pretty okay dude though, so he'd be your in with them.

There's a big list, but your concerns are mostly the Khaos Brigade and other Longinus wielders, especially items meant to counter dragons and Divine Dividing.

If you encounter Cao Cao, either have a plan or run in the opposite direction. He's the guy with True Longinus.

>>52233991

It has mixed reviews because it comes off at first like a generic fantasy game and the plot can be a bit weird, but as a member of that fucker's cult following it's soooooo gooooood. One of the major systems in the game that really sets it apart is "Pawns". You basically go through Character Creation to make a permanent helper that can have any of the basic classes (and can switch like you, so you can build them how you like) at the beginning of the game. Not only that you can hire two other pawns that other people have made for an entire adventuring party configured how you like.

It's like, classic fantasy done right with some weird shit thrown in on top. Good weird shit though.
>>
>>52233985

>>

>>
>>52233951
>I assume you're being cheeky
Not being cheeky. And I was not asking just about sacred gears, but the whole "Humans are born with this" thing to empower them.

The whole distribute the stockpile to unborn souls system. I would rather not have to reclaim them unless the holder is unworthy, so some way to automate the creation of lesser gears would also be nice.

Also creating Angels, since he did that, and uplifting humans to angels.

(Question, did some of the angels fall when God was still alive, or is it a political thing where they disagreed with Michael after Big G died?)
>>
>>52234049
You get to design your own NPC follower to join you in the game and can summon other people's pawns get a full four person party.
>>
>>52234026
A lot of people would probably like that if they don't think through the implications of her being so flighty, easily manipulated, and cowardly.
>>
>>52233980
Well, there is technically a way. Use that one perk from Order of the Stick to pick Usagi as your rival in Sailor Moon, then fight with her/train, and once she reaches her ridiculous endgame power levels, you'll be her equal. From there, use something like Eye of Set to multiply your magical powers tenfold, and with that much power you might be able to stomp him. Not positive though, it might only allow you to beat him or be his equal, depending on what power level Darkseid's at, because comics are bullshit when it comes to that kind of thing.
>>
>>52234059
Because all of this comes from one guy feeling indignant. >>52232504

>>
>>52234068
To answer your question, there were definitely angels that fell when God was still alive. They fell in love with humans and had sex with them, something that was forbidden. Some of them are still pretty salty about it, destroying any symbol of God they can find. Considering Michael was willing to construct a chamber that allowed an angel to have sex with a demon without falling and is chill with their relationship, most likely God would have been fine with it too if they had just talked about it with Him.

Oh. Now I feel silly for missing that. Sorry.
>>
>>52234049

Sorry, had to take care of something Basically what >>52234069 said. In-Universe they're human-like beings without emotional depth or motivations of their own, existing to serve the Arisen (protagonist in the game) and doing whatever you want them too basically. They don't really fear death since they'll just respawn from the rift eventually, but they'll put their life on the line for you nonetheless.
>>
>>52233983
I kind of want to but the True Longinus and take the option to have it not be a copy just to fuck over Cao Cao. The guy is just an absolute tool. But on the other hand, I don't actually want the True Longinus that much. As powerful as it is, its abilities don't really interest me that much.
>>
>>52234169
>>52234049

Oh, right, and to add to that statement, you can also grab'em and throw them in the ocean and they're totally cool with it when you recover them later.
>>
>>52234068
Oh, that's fair. I still think your best bet would be to compare notes with Azazel and possibly observe an emerging Sacred Gear, but the system has been lost for a long time so you'd have to do some homework. I think it is possible to replicate and modify, it would just need a lot of legwork.

As for creating Angels from wholecloth, you might need something outside context or a different method, but the Brave Saint system (either from the perk or when it's invented) is a good foundation for it.

And for Angels falling and whatnot, >>52234142 answered it pretty well. Hope this helps!

The eternal dilemma.
>>
>>52234105
He's regularly defeated by the Justice League, and sometimes just Superman. Now, that's certainly nothing to scoff at, but planetary-level power should be enough to defeat him, if not permanently. What you really need to worry about is that he's in some incarnations vital to the universe's continued functioning.
>>
>>52234105
>>52234243
Darkseid's power varies greatly, often because he's only appearing as an avatar of his true form rather then the real deal. His avatars are the things that go toe to toe with Supes or the JL with his true form being where he goes into full comic bullshit mode.
>>
Looking at Gargoyles, should I get Scroll of Thoth or is the power up not enough to bother with it instead of just going Fae-Blooded?

Is there a real limit on the kinds of effects that fae magic can do, anyway? Or is it just "say anything in a shitty rhyme and it magically happens".
>>
>>52231481
>This is enough that if you had, say, the magical power of the Red Dragon Emperor, you could manifest an actual deity based on a concept you really liked
What's that mean, exactly? Seems wildly out of place with the other examples of what the perk can do.
>>

Issei once summoned Chichigami, elder goddess of breasts. Chichigami does not exist. The leading theories among the other characters is that he either created her out of nothing, or somehow pierced the Dimensional Gap to a universe where she does exist. Since creating a god is the less insane possibility in DxD metaphysics, that's what they eventually decide he did.
>>
So, am I reading this wrong, or can I not import my companions to be my shipgirls?
>>
>>52232961
Hey Anon, Dragon Magic just seems to be focused around the direct manipulation of their element.
>>
>>52234142
I think it's probably more that they had sex with humans and then were prideful and unrepentant about it. In the Book of Enoch, the Grigori fell not just because they laid with human women but because they then took those women as wives and lived among humans, creating a mixed society of humans and angels that defied God's plan for humanity. I'm not sure if it went like that in DxD, but given that Azazel is a magitech mad scientist as a reference to his mythological counterpart being the one who taught the humans of their society about metalworking and sorcery, there was probably something like that.

How would he fare against an Eva Angel like Ramiel?

How about a shot from an anti-material rifle at long range?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm reading about the series right now and it seems like the MC is a human who gets Reincarnated as a Devil and then imbued with Dragon flesh or something to become a dragon? If I take Dragon can I wank it as being a human made into a dragon? Just for weird personal preferences of flavor.
>>
>>52234429
That's probably true. Doesn't help that in the Book of Enoch the Nephilim were horrific monsters that killed and consumed everything in their path, or that mankind fell to sin because of their teachings. Really, the whole thing kind of went to shit pretty fast.
>>
>>52234436
For the most part, Cao Cao is a normal, if extremely well-trained, human. He hasn't even learned any of the chi-based martial arts or magic available to humans in the setting. However, he has the True Longinus, and unlike his comrades in the Khaos Brigade who never really take full advantage of their Longinus' power, Cao Cao is really skilled with it. It's a tremendously powerful melee weapon, capable of killing even the highest class of Devil in a single strike. Granted, it's a holy weapon, so that adds some extra damage, but it's still powerful against other types of being. It also can extend to enormous lengths, and shoot lasers of only slightly weaker power than its melee attacks, so range isn't an obstacle. Similarly, it provides very strong defenses, there's not much that can harm Cao Cao. And that's just base abilities, let me get into its Balance Breaker and Truth Ideal in another post, this is starting to get long.

>cont.
>>
>>52234496
He doesn't get imbued with dragon flesh to become a dragon, the moment his Boosted Gear awoke, he became a dragon, at least thanks to Ddraig's soul.

Sacred Gears are fucking weird.
>>
>>52234526
Oh, so would would taking one of the sacred gears with w dragon sealed inside make you into a dragon?
>>
>>52232922
Added as something you only get when getting both Ultimate tablet and Server farm. Modified a bit
>>
>>52234436
simple answer: Cao Cao will not survive a nuke if it gets dropped on him.
>>
>>52234523
Okay, so his Balance Breaker is actually based on Buddhism rather than Christianity, kind of weird to do that with the Lance of Longinus, but whatever.

The name of the Balance Breaker is "Polar Night Longinus Chakravartine", and it summons seven orbs based on the Seven Treasures. The Wheel Treasure destroys his enemy's weapons. The Female Treasure disables women, kind of weird. The Horse Treasure can teleport things anywhere in sight. The Pearl Treasure reflects attacks. The Elephant Treasure levitates whatever it touches. The Household Treasure lets him summon an army of golems. And the General Treasure gives huge super-powerful attacks, but has some sort of vaguely-defined condition for activation.

Then you have the Truth Ideal which does...pretty much anything. It's the remaining essence of God left inside the True Longinus from when it pierced his earthly form. The problem is that Cao Cao can't really control what it does. The only option he has is to unleash it and give it a general goal, like "defeat this enemy" or "protect me". It could do anything. It might even do nothing if the Will of God likes his enemy more than him, that's happened. So consider that one a crazy wild card in his deck that he might unleash if things get dangerous.

In Naruto, there's this.

>Manipulating genes thoroughly enough to grant bloodline-limits has a one percent survival rate, and if they do survive it will only have a one percent success rate, and each success worsens these odds. Successful experiment's power will be much weaker than a bought option. That's all if the procedure is preformed by an excellent geneticist and doctor.

That could be annoying. My current build is a magi-tech AI, which is focused on hyper tech and artifice. So I'm less interested in training and the cycle of hatred than I am in analyzing chakra emissions through sub-atomic sensors.

I assume after several genius perks and Eclipse Phase I would be more then qualified to play Orochimaru.

Is the one percent success rate an actual canon difficulty or just a rule by the Jumpmaker to prevent cheese?
>>
>>52234539
Not necessarily, but it would give you that option if you wanted.
>>
>>52234606
It should be noted that "Polar Night Longinus Chakravartine" isn't actually the real Balance Breaker, just the subspecies given by Cao Cao. The real one is "True Longinus Götterdämmerung", which hasn't been shown yet.
>>

>>52234539
Basically yes, since that SG is a part of your soul and there's a dragon soul inside it.

However, this means that you are weak to anything that's anti-Dragon and you miiiiiiight gain some of the instincts of a dragon.
>>
>>52234616
Pretty sure it's a canon thing.
Doesn't Orochimaru burn through dozens of test subjects on the regular?
>>
>>52234616
Its kind of both. Orochimarus attempts to splice wood genes into babies had a 1/100 not dying rate.
Course he didnt really care about fatalities so that could probably have been shaved down.
Maybe. Maybe not. Naruto genes are weird.
>>
>>52234616
Mostly based on Orochimaru going through test subjects like they were tissue paper.

You might want some purely spiritual analysis/artifice stuff before you go to Naruto, since Chakra isn't entirely physical despite having a lot of biological stuff to it.

Although I'm guessing you've already got that type of stuff.
>>
>>52234642
It's as real as any other Balance Breaker. The individual user making their own is pretty normal for Balance Breakers, sub-species are more or less expected. It would be more accurate to say that Polar Night Longinus Chakravartine isn't the default Balance Breaker.

Just remember that if you're going to go full dragon, do it now. The transformation process is very unpleasant, so if you only go part way your enemies might trigger it to resume in order to incapacitate you in the middle of a fight. Rizevim does that to Issei at one point.
>>
>>52234616
Actually it's possibly nicer than canon, the number of people that Orochimaru is implied, and at times stated to have burned through is incredible. Also the line
>That's all if the procedure is preformed by an excellent geneticist and doctor.
Means an excellent geneticist and doctor by the setting. The jumpmaker has clarified that in thread before, out of jump stuff will help your success rate but it's still going to be really difficult.

Hey guys, looking for some further thoughts on my jump.

For those who aren't aware, Ben-To is an anime literally about fighting other people for discounted box lunches at dinner time. I thought it could make for a decent jump, if small.
>>
>>52234787
The problem is that it's a reused setting with a reused plot and reused structure. DxD is basically a weaker and more ecchi oriented take on SMT 4F (or even just the SMT franchise in general), except God is more passive and less retarded than YHVH, the Angels are a less productive but slightly less fanatical version of LAW, the Fallen Angels, Demons and Humans are all basically as clusterfucky as the Pantheist. When you have so many settings out there who reuse the same concepts, and your only real draw is that you have Breast Dragons, it's a really niche crowd that you're drawing on.

It's not that the dragons aren't strong. It's that they aren't notable because they bring nothing new to the table. They have power, but aside from that there's nothing else there because the plot is so strangely mundane and the manga is so slow. If you naturally love DxD, then there's fan appeal, but outside of that, it's hard to call it a selling point because this series has very few selling points.
>>
>>52234809
Handing over any Longinus to Heaven would put you in really high standing with them, but returning the True Longinus to them? The spear that pierced Christ's side, still contains the Will of God inside of it, and the most holy artifact on the planet? Pretty sure you just became their best friend.
>>
>>52234809
Pretty sizable. I mean, it is their dad in there, or at least a tiny bit of him. Plus there's the fact that you'd have taken out a major threat to the world. I think Heaven would be quite in favor of an "Angel" who did them such a solid.
>>
>>52234773
> aren't all that notable
...you haven't read High School DxD have you?

When an old dragon shows up, people shit bricks. Certainly the Mass Produced Dragons are the Clone Troopers of the Setting, but you very quickly see the difference in power between those pale imitations and an actual dragon.

Not to mention that two of those Dragons pretty much are the reason why the carefully calibrated systems of Heaven are just barely working.

AND there's the fact that two other dragons are the reason why even the main cast won what was essentially Armageddon, they still lost and the entire political landscape has been changed for good.

Are you sure that dragons really aren't notable?
>>
>>52234853
You may wish to put the prices before/after the perk name, rather than at the end of the flavor text, but this looks like an amusing jump.
>>
>>52234809
Not that much. Every faction is generally composed of dickwads. The humans are retarded on levels comparable to the humans of Terraformars, the Angels and Fallen Angels suffer from plot subjective passiveness, the Demons are the only active parties because of how slow the manga is and the perspective character being aligned with them, and even they make stupid decisions all over. Heck they might just try to kill you for being a possible threat to them.

Most of what people in-universe know about his power level came without the knowledge that he managed to seal away Trihexa and still wage the Great War before he finally died. We don't know how strong he really was.
>>
>>52234884
You're thinking that he's saying notable as in powerful when he's saying notable as in unique to the genre, which, admittedly, there's nothing in DxD that's really unique in the genre except maybe the system of pawns. The Dragons are basically DnD immortal beastiary dragons at best, probably would be on par with some other shounen dragons since dragons show up as deities so often.
>>
>>52234907
Honestly I got really bored when it was recommended to me, because the guy who did sold it off as the next great piece of literature rival to the Silmarillion, and honestly I found nothing like that at all. It's a bit of fun for a casual anime I guess, but it definitely didn't have enough to hook my interest. Between this and Re:Zero that was also recommended, I definitely liked Re:Zero a lot better.
>>
So how many in story years has DxD been going for? I tend to avoid jumps whose stories have only taken place over a few years but have already seen massive amounts of escalation since you don't know what it'll be like by the time 10 years is up.
>>
>>52234927
Well, sure, but it's not like we have a lot of jumps that offer truly unique things. I'm content to just have something neat, I don't need uniqueness. Except when it comes to Sun Wukong's gear, I refuse to be swayed by their siren song. I will not buy you, Ruyi Jingu Bang! I will not! Stop trying to tempt me with your incredible extensibility!

Jumpers! What is your finishing move?
>>
>>52234298
It's late, so I'm rambling, but see what sense you can make of this.

Considering the power levels of the Third Race are really wide-ranging from "Sonic Screams" to "All of Manhattan is now asleep" to "Holy shit spiders" to "Everyone is having their life-energy drained", it depends on who you can catch with your Scroll. The scroll also works on any sort of sapient spell that you meet, so may be worth more out of jump. The Children of Oberon are basically evolved natural magic, and they are universally weak to wrought iron. The iron hurts them like a son of a bitch.

For my CP, grabbing the Eye of Odin or Grimorum Arcanorum and going discount Fae-Blooded is probably the smarter move. The strongest Fae-Blooded can get to the lower-tier of Oberon's Children, and Eye of Odin makes up for any power difference between being partially and fully Third Race, basically being about half of Odin's power. The Grimorum has been used in rituals that could have created a plague capable of killing all man-kind and has been shown to function over TV broadcasts, and is a source of Human Magic.

The Fair Folk tend to specialize, with their theme being stronger and everything else being poor in comparison. Tricksters are good at tricking and do their best when their magic fucks someone over, warriors are good at warring and their magic is best when using it in battle, monsters are good at monsting and works best within whatever narrow field of monster they are. Various artifacts were also used to enhance their power, like Titania's Mirror, and there's no reason those wouldn't work for a Fae-blooded. The Third Race were the catch-all for any sort of magic bad guy that wasn't mortal wizard or Loch Ness monster or Alien, and bred with very many different species.
>>
>>52234948
>Honestly I got really bored when it was recommended to me, because the guy who did sold it off as the next great piece of literature rival to the Silmarillion
I don't know, the Silmarillion isn't that great, either. I'm not saying they're comparable in terms of type of story, but I'm just saying that neither one is really a great book. Though the Silmarillion gets points for being written in English, the translation of DxD is god awful.
>>
>>52234951
Somewhere around a year and a half, I think. So yeah, probably not the thing for you.

No. I'm going to make my own awesome magic weapon, so I can stop feeling so jealous of the Great Sage Equal To Heaven. And then he'll feel jealous of me, because the Monkey King is not known for his self-control or ability to define himself via internal rather than external signifiers of worth.
>>
>>52234962
>The scroll also works on any sort of sapient spell that you meet
For some reason I find this line hilarious. Also, is that actually a thing anywhere else? I mean, it's a cool concept, but I don't know if I've seen it in anything but Gargoyles.
>>
>>52235050
Lots of them in Discworld, would be very handy there.
>>
>>52234977
The writing was not all that great, and honestly, the dialogue felt cliche, the pacing felt weird and the worldbuilding is extremely shallow. The pacing part I could get used to, but the dialogue just continued to feel juvenile throughout with a lot of the conflicts coming off as extremely contrived.

When it was recommended to me my friend drew comparisons to Silmarillion because apparently the world was just as large with just as many characters. There were definitely lots of characters, but most of them had little to no depth at all, a large number just showed up, dropped some exposition, and disappeared until they were needed again. To draw a comparison, I definitely think that Tolkien did a lot more work and prep for writing the Silmarillion than DxD's author did for writing DxD. There were just way too many bizarre details that felt slapped on for posterity.
>>
>>52234962
That does help, thanks. Are you the jumpmaker?

Bored now, time for moar Stalwart Tiger.

Last Time: Tiger spent 10 years as Link, again, and saved the world from Evil. Again. Then he tried to conquer the Oceans. Then he went to Hyderdimension Neptunia, where he was the first Male CPU, and he set about building his own nation. Followed by heading on to Generic Magical Girl, where he forced Raven to join him in this HELL. And finally he went to German Hollow Quest, where he proceeded to try and take over Hueco Mundo and basically ignore the plot as long as it didn't fuck with his plans. He got into more than one punch-up with Barrigan.

It's a show set in the 80's focusing on the disappearance of a young boy in a small town in Indiana, as well as the mystery of a young girl named Eleven, who has strange powers and speaks very little. The story focuses on the perspective of three groups: the boy's friends and Eleven, the boy's brother and the sister of one of the friends, and the boy's mother and the local police chief. There's a secret government conspiracy after the girl, and a mysterious monster lurking around that might have something to do with the boy's disappearance...

Aaaand that is all I can say without spoiling the series. It's a really good show, filled with actors who play their roles almost perfectly, including the child actors, and a love letter to the 80's. It's like if Steven Spielberg and Stephen King worked together to make a TV show.

I remember watching this and thinking "Wow, these guys take themselves way too seriously." Then I found 4chan.

The balance of the perks all seems pretty good. I agree with Crux about the placement of the prices, if only because it seems to be "standard" and it's kinda weird seeing them at the end. Overall, I'd say this is a pretty good Jump, especially given how ability/perk sparse the source material is.

Light’s Hope (600 CP - Discounted Death Knight): In two years, the unthinkable will happen, and the first of many actions will commence that lead to the Lich King’s destruction. The Knights of the Ebon Blade, Arthas’ undead crusaders, will invade Light’s Hope Chapel in Lordaeron... And fail. And in their failure, they will be broken free from the Prince’s control, and be given the chance for redemption that many could all but dream of.

Though you will likely not be at the Chapel’s invasion, you will be given this chance as well. And many others after that. When you are at your lowest point, when the weight of all your crimes becomes too much to bear, when all seems lost for you and your path is obscured... You will be given the choice of Redemption, and taking it will guide you. Not necessarily to where you WANT to be... But where you’ll be NEEDED the most, as the Ebon Blade was needed for the Northrend Campaign to succeed.

Incidentally, your weakness to Holy energies has been negated slightly - you won’t be reduced to cinders after a Paladin smites you, nor will healing threaten to make you scream in agony.

Powers: Teleportation, Magnoscopic Vision, Phasing
Items: Super Suit, Man Cave, Nomanisan Island
Drawbacks: Jumper-Jumper, Wicked!, He's In Trouble Or He's Going To Be

I'm in this jump for 52 years, I have a best friend that I meet as children tricycling together and he won't shut the fuck up about me, and a long future of romantic problems and probably alimony/blackmail payments. So, I've got a whole life to live here, and I'm not interested in being mild-mannered by day, especially if everyone is going to hear about it anyway. I think I'll become a failing wastoid rockstar that has to drop his act to go into hiding from the government.

The movie came out in 2004, so I start in 1962, and the Supers are sent into hiding in 1989. I can go with an appropriately 70s-80s super hero name, so I'm choosing Phantgasm. I could easily be a a hair metal band with that name. I'll use most of my stealth and sneak attack skills to get things done, with some durability for safety reasons. I have roughly 7 years at full power before I become a rogue super and just keep saving people regardless of what anyone wants. Fuck their opinions about whether or not they should be allowed to die in a fire or get shot in an alley. If they're upset by it, good. I can't keep the NSA out of the loop if Tommy keeps on spreading rumors about me, but why bother. Close calls make things more fun anyway. Specialized equipment to catch me is just icing on the cake. Let them waste the taxpayer dollars, I got get out of jail free perks, and companions who wait for me to get caught to join in on the action.

The movie itself isn't until late in the story, and the Incredibles blame me for a lot of the continued stigma against supers, but I could sense that Bob was pretty jealous that I kept the costumed crusades going. And then I got to help battle the giant robot at the end.

That looks pretty powerful.

Which weapon is the one that is supposed to be a sword capable of cutting anything?

King Arthur has an absorb enchantment at an option.
An object with the enchantment can absorb other items to gain their qualities.

There's an item in Aeon that can have you fuse similar items.

Annihilation Maker is in-character considered the third most powerful Sacred Gear. The True Longinus us number one, and Zenith Tempest is number two. It's limited mainly by the need for understanding of what you're making. The "creates what you imagine" thing doesn't meant that you can just imagine "a thing that does X" and have it appear, you need to know how it would do X. Still very powerful if you know what you're doing.

As for the sword capable of cutting anything, that would be Canis Lykaon after mastering it. The current canon wielder of it, Tobio Ikuse, has refined it to the point where it cuts apart the fabric of space-time along the path of its swing. If you don't want to go for a Longinus, you may want to invest in Durandal. It's not quite as strong, but still pretty high up there, and it can fuse together with the Excalibur shards to gain their abilities and increase its versatility.

What can True Excalibur do anyway?

All the things the parts can do, along with a general power boost as a weapon.

Duct tape fusion, the maker has said that given some time in the tape they become one weapon and not some disgusting abomination.

While you aren't fusing them, Sburb Alchemy can create weapons that have the power of both and more

Who is Neeshka?

That can also lead to catastrophic results.

Or even something completely unrelated. There are only so many possible codes, after all. Like that time Jade combined the codes for all her most powerful guns and got an animatronic Johnny Five.

Johnny Five?

He is alive! He is also the star of the awful 80s movie "Short Circuit" and its even worse sequel.
>>

Bit of both. "Excellent geneticist" by the standards of Naruto really doesn't mean that much. Their technological base is screwy at best, and Orochimaru was working on a very short timetable and more than willing to kill as many subjects as he could kidnap.

It's a bit doubtful to think that Fran Madaraki's medical skills couldn't keep someone's brain alive while modifying their body (or a hundred clones of their body).

Or Anima's soul manipulation couldn't store their soul in a tree while creating a viable vessel.

Or Desty Nova's nanotechnology couldn't step in and make on-the-fly corrections.

Or just a modern approach, with extensive testing and analysis that isn't based on a desire to gain ultimate power yesterday.

Etc, etc.

You be quiet, the first is cheesy 80's gold. The second is bad, except of the last 15-20 minutes which is just hilarious.

Oh, I love Short Circuit. That doesn't make it any less awful, though. And if I really had to choose a cheesy 80s robot, I'd go with Jinx from Space Camp. "Jinx put Max in space!"
