>Friendly reminder he was soloing the equivalent of daemon princes before getting his armour of +2 edge

Buddy has built and painted almost the entire clan company Raukaan. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a transfer sheet with enough squad numbers 1-10 in white, and he wants to keep their knee-pads black. He could paint the knees white and put the black numbers from the Ultramarines transfer sheet on there, but it would be better if he could find white ones.

There is the FW Iron Hands transfer sheet, but that only has one set of 1-10 transfers for some bizarre reason so it's useless.

Anyone have a clue?

Beginner looking to get into the game, currently getting myself acquainted with the rules. Trying to pick a good starter army, are the admech a good choice? I think the flavor is pretty sweet, and I like that the rangers and vanguards can take two wounds while still being good shooters.

Things against them is used figures will be pretty hard to come across and they look harder to paint than SM. Having to buy two codices is also lame.

AdMech are a good army but they'll be very hard to paint for a beginner, have a shitload of rules to know and need 2 codices and the core rulebook to play.

This site has pretty good guidelines:
http://twoplustough.com/start-collecting-40k/
>>
>>52229950

I fully intend on just downloading whatever it is I go with at first but I don't know if it'll be too annoying to be digital only when actually playing or not.

Modelling question.

>>
>>52229906
AdMech have a number of logistical issues like the two books, and their strongest detachment being an old White Dwarf special that means they aren't a great starter army. That said, if you aren't twelve years old I wouldn't worry about that and go with whatever you think is coolest. You're going to spend a ton of money on them and a bunch of time painting them. The models might as well be something you think looks dope.
>>
>>52229906
Admech are in a pretty good place right now, besides the whole two codex thing

The flavour is patrician tier and vanguard are my favourite unit in all of 40k

The finger claws are a part of why I don't like them actually. I vastly prefer the Tartaros pattern lightning claws.
Too bad I only realized this after I built mine.

They are dogshit bad, but if you turbo boost a party bus or three full of them into the enemies face you could probably get some work done, it's just so hard to get units into melee

>T. Dark Eldar player

>>52230285
Really bad. If you really like the models consider doing conversions using the Wych bits for Reaver bike riders. Reavers are Wych cult too.

If you really must run straight Wyches go for one of the Ynnari formations with them. Still not good, but then at least you're getting some benefit from running them.

Tartaros unit of 10, combat squad them.

5 get lightning claws, take the grenade harness.

Other 5 take two heavy flamers, a Volkite on the sarge, then swap the sarges sword for a Chainfist because it's free. Rest of the squad can keep their fists or go claw, you only have two combi-Bolters out of five guys and since it's short range anti-horde firepower in general being twin linked in rapid fire range is maybe a few extra wounds.

You beautiful bastard. I still fondly remember the day my Leviathan Solo'd one of those at an apocalypse game. The sad thing about all this is that the only thing that would give my 2000 points of dreadnoughts any trouble is the Knight. Everything else would just get shrek'd in a combination of melee and shooting.

Dred Mobz are still my all-time favourite army to fight against. There's just something about an enormous army of walkers getting into a huge brawl that gets me hard.

There's also Conclave Aqcuisitorius and the Cohort Mechanicus.

Pic related is what the Conclave has to take in order to get all its formation bonuses. It's really not a good idea.

War Convocation is the most competitive one, Grand Convocation is good if you want to play fair and use many Dunecrawlers and Ironstriders, Cohort Mechanicus is alright if you just have every unit and want to play a 2000 point game without relying on a War Convo.

Pulling in old players for a starter kit really depends on the models its packaged with. Look at that upcoming NM based kill team thing. No old players is going to shell out 130 bucks for some terrain (which while cool looking is really more of a set piece than "terrain."), SM scouts, and Ork shoota boyz. No, they'll just buy the rulebooks on ebay from people breaking up the boxes.

Yeah. I could vaguely live with it if they just got some random under-performing orphan from a new intake and told the cadet to shoot it, but it's explicitly stated it's done right at the end of training, with another recruit from their platoon, who's made it through nearly a decade of the exact same training. i.e. is basically ready to become a commissar/scion/sororitas.

Even just 'hurr shoot this kid to prove u have what it takes' is dumb as fuck, have them execute a criminal or someone that deserves it, forcing anyone wanting to be a commissar to execute someone for no reason would just mean you'd end up with a commisariat full of psyc.....oh right

Anyway, dumb as fuck.

Don't even get me started on the 'cemented an entire intake's worth of recruits into a wall as a warning because they disobeyed orders' shit.

Not only does the """"""codex"""""" only have five units, one of which is redundant if you want CAD, the fluff reads like some 12 year old's edgy fanfic.

Paladin of Khorne is a great combat knight, and the renegade can be built with two dakka arms. Both have a really nice build.
>>

From what I remember a renegade knight is just a knight you can pick any two arms for and is chaos aligned on the ally matrix.

It has the advantage of allowed you to take two of the same gun on your knight so twin rapid fire battle cannons or double gatling cannons for maximum dakka.

Considering the positions of authority occupied by proper commissars, I don't really think so. They're the guys watching the command structure of regular imperial regiments, ensuring that officers act in a way that befits their station. The guys who will make the hard decisions for those unable to do so.

They HAVE to be able to blow the brains out of even their best friends if the situation demands it. Parasitic aliens, psychic domination, chaos corruption.. turning comrades against one another is a pretty common occurrence in the 41st millennium. And if they hesitate because of sentimentality for any individual, uncountable numbers of people could be killed. The Imperium itself could be thrown into jeopardy.

The Emperor himself put it best.
>THEN WE MUST BE MALEVOLENT TOO. FOR WE HAVE EXPELLED OUR SENTIMENTALITY LONG AGO.

>Orks next in line to get fucked by GW in the fluff
I would agree with this, if it weren't for the fact that the last two races that got dildo'd (Humans and Eldar) are usually the go-to "good guys" of the setting (sort of), with the space commies/Spanish Conquistadors we know as Tau being the other 'good race' in 40k.

Going by the 'something terrible happens to "insert good race here-" in the fluff' trend (Cadia go bye-bye, the craftwirkd Eldar get fucked over hard), I'm inclined to think the Tau are next in line.

I don't know, maybe T'tau's innermost moon (that planet has 7 goddamn moons.) is actually a derelict Ork Attack Moon which the Ethereals have been keeping quiet about and somehow Orkimedes reactivates it remotely. Some "shit has hit the fan!" event like that.
>>
Rate this ork fluff:

Warboss is only an average fighter, but he is extremely intelligent for an ork. This allows him to properly supply his Waaagh and leads them to the most successful and enticing battles. The nobs and boys underneath him are willing to follow him even though he's not the most impressive boss, because he always, ALWAYS finds the best fights.

Their favored enemies are Ultramarines, because they have an advanced enough supply chain and battle strategy to actually match or beat the Ultramarines at their own game, leading to very protracted fights.
>>
>>52232227

Always take a special weapon: it's the only reason to take a tactical squad other than because you like the models. Either melta for vehicles or grav for general firepower.

Generally you leave out the heavy weapon because it slows the squad down, but a Grav-Cannon is the most commonly used one especially in a Rhino. If the squad won't be moving around much, a Lascannon or Missile Launcher can also work but the unit is not ideal for this role.
>>

>>

Cool, how about for the seargant? combi grav?
>>
>>52232312

>>
>>52232316

A combi to match your special, or nothing at all. Melta bombs also have niche use. Always take a bolter over a chainsword unless you are doing something very specific, like playing chainsword tacticals or triple weapon tacticals via Carcharodons or Space Wolves or something like that.

The sergeant is not durable enough to survive challenges to buy him nice melee gear, and you only get one shot for 10 points with a combi, but sometimes it's worth it if that extra grav or melta shots kills a dangerous enemy.
>>
>>52232279
>the craftwirkd Eldar get fucked over hard

They kind of don't, though. Biel-tan gets hit pretty hard, but they aren't wiped out - most of the population survives and their Craftworld is specifically described as in a state where it can be rebuilt. Iyanden also suffers a bit, but it then benefits from Yvraine awakening its Wraith population to full awareness. So they just got more ghostly, and their ghosts lost their biggest disadvantage.

As for the Dark Eldar, Commoragh gets fucked over, but the story ends in a position where it's being retaken by the Mandrakes and Haemonculi, while Vect and his allies are poised to sweep in and take over again. Those Commorites forced to flee have been accepted by the Ynnari and cured of the Thirst, so things are only going to get better for them.

Compared to the rather harsh brutalisation the Imperium suffered from in Fall of Cadia, the Eldar got out okay. I'd say they're actually in a stronger position now than they were before.

>GW lawyers will make them rename them korks.
>not realizing Orks are safe from this trademark renaming bullshitery for years because their name is spelled with a k and not a 'c'.
>See also why Fantasy Orcs became 'Orruks' in AoS. GW's lawyers LIKE the 'Ork' trademark (surprisingly enough)
And I'm pretty sure GW knows if they change the Orks' name they'll alienate their entire Ork playerbase. If they standardize the new Orks into Ultramarine levels of bland I'm pretty sure Ork players will be in open revolt. GW might be dense, but they're not THAT dense I hope.

It's either enforced or ignored, because human bodies are the one resource the Imperium will never run out of and people living in shitty conditions will naturally have more sex to seek some comfort and escape from their shitty reality. I'd help you but I can't be fucked to read that shitty picture builder to spot the individual wargear. Most obvious thing is you need a transport for the second squad. You can do this by dropping a gun or downgrading the dreadnought to a regular one. Venerable Dreadnoughts suck and the only reason you should ever run one is as part of a Firespear Strike Force, if even then. If you like the model just use it but count it as a non-ven.

If you are using the Firespear, then the tactical marines you put in that formation will no longer have Objective Secured. This is important because Objective Secured is a critical ability to have.

For that reason, I would recommend only putting FIVE tactical marines in the Firespear. If you wish to use the double shooting ability with the tactical squad.

For the rest of the models, place them in a Combined Arms Detachment or Allied Detachment (the latter will force you to choose a different set of chapter tactics) in any combination you want, 1x10 and 1x5, or 3x5.

>>
>>52233931
Most of the FW molds would be hella easy to put into plastic. But as resin they can sell them for a higher price and act like they're sooo special.

Plastic is the superior material, hands-down. It offers jsut as much detail these days (see: many AdMech models just as an example) and is way sturdier.
>>
>>52233896
Looks fun to play but hard to use. The melta gun and hot shot volleygun mix seems a bit strange. I'd make some smaller squads of just 2 melta for tank hunting and have volleyguns for normal fights. Also, maybe get some plasma in their. Your glass boxes are too weak to get your guys near armor safely and I think would need to airstrike them. Rather have a few smaller squads for that.

I think they are a 10/10 army I am currently working on my own (pic related, first squad of rangers). Yet to play a game with them though. They need a dedicated transport, it's really irritating.

They can't even make a basic Contemptor in plastic without it being garbage and you want that
>>
>>52234014
If youre playing your Kairos army competitively (which you should be) then itd have to be WYSIWYG anyway
>>
>>52233896
Commissars are worthless in Scion lists, you troops are too expensive.

You can't give a Scion both a medi-pack and a special weapon, it's either or. Ditto platoon standard and special weapon.

Mixing hot-shot volleyguns and meltas just means you've got a unit that is specialised for nothing, and specialisation is about the only thing Scions have going for them. Generally, plasma is more useful than volleyguns, unless you're facing a foot slogging marine army...which is rare.

Putting power fists on tempestors is a waste of points, they're overpriced as shit for a S3 model and your WS3/T3/W1 tempestor isn't really going to do much in close combat other than be cut down before he can slap anything with his expensive toy.

Overall, you could do with moar command squads too. Scions NEED orders to have any serious effect, particulary if you're going to shell out for full squads of 10, otherwise you're just fielding an army of spehs muhreen scouts with shit weapons and a bloated points cost.

Otherwise, cutting the ten man units to five man is another tactic, since to get rapid fire with an 18" weapon, you basically need to be poking the enemy with your muzzles. Counter-charges will ensue from pretty much everything, because Scions are squishy as fuck in melee since they're WS3, so just guardsmen with a 4+, rather than BS4 with an AP3 lasgun, which is slighty more scary.
>>
>>52233957
>It offers jsut as much detail these days

Wrong, plastic injection will never have as sharp or crisp angles as resin. It's because you have steel molds vs. silicone. Getting the same detail as resin models would create a steel mold that is razor sharp and not viable.

>see: many AdMech models just as an example

You mean the retarded looking robots that 50% of people hate and the other 50% only like because they look so stupid? The resin 30k AdMech shit looks a billion times better than the plastic stuff.
>>
>>52234106
I havent played since 5th edition, I missed a detail. I was trying to get my head around this bat shit retarded allies system.

>>52234147
Commisar is part of the formation, he is mandatory. Other guy pointed out the mistake with the meltas.

Will drop the powerfists, Im uneasy dropping meltas since playing BA way back when having a squad without anti tank capabilities just meant it was useless.

as for swuads of five doesnt that just feed the enemy killpoints?
>>
>>52234148

The chaos gods (Slaanesh mostly) can swap any ones gender in the warp. Don't know what happens when they leave
I don't know about making them from young girls like they do with the boys but the Daemonculaba might do it if you just shove a girl in there.
>>
>>52234196
Stuff all your meltas into one unit, all your volleyguns into another, have the volleyguns DS into terrain and blast away at 24" whilst the melta unit tries to get close to tanks.

Otherwise you've got a unit that has paid for a volleygun but won't really use it to it's full because it's running after tanks, or a unit thats paid for a melta that can't use it because they're stationary so the volleygun can fire properly.

5-man squads die faster, but 10 man squads in melee are dead, whereas if you have two five-man, at least one can gtfo. With multiple five-man squads you can also cram more special weapons into the list, which is what you need.

Scions are a suicide list, if anything survives intact from your initial DS/disembarking to shoot back at you, you're fucked either way. The only difference is being tabled on turn 3 rather than 4.

Might be because people were playing games. I had two today myself. Ran my Chaos force against Space Wolves and Raven Guard.

Summary of battles: Wulfen are murder on two legs, basic Chaos cultists surprisingly good at carving through tactical squads.

Actually, I did play a game today. My bud's guard vs my Grey Knights. I actually didn't roll like shit and almost tabled him. He conceded bottom of turn 4 after i cashed in 2 extra points from D3 for killing an his Company Commander (who had Daemonic Adversary warlord buff) with my Dreadknight in a challenge.

Can someone help me with a problem with Dawn of War? I figured this would be an acceptable place to ask about it considering /tg/'s obsession with all things Warhammer. I'm trying to install mods, and basically have no fucking clue what I'm doing. I've modded Skyrim and New Vegas, but I can't even find a mod manager for Dawn of War. I'm playing Soulstorm if it matters. Thanks

I don't think games that old have mod managers, back then you had to find and download mods manually without some fancy manager to make them work iirc

It didn't end well for the Knight

>Most of the FW molds would be hella easy to put into plastic. But as resin they can sell them for a higher price and act like they're sooo special.

thats were you are wrong

plastic moulds are far far more expensive so they need a certain volume of sales to break even, resin moulds....not so much.
which is why recasters generally dont have plastic minis but resin/metal.
>>
>>52236079

It's an assault 3 S4 weapon called a devourer. Affectionately called devil Gaunt due to their low price and damage potential.
