better than my first guardsman, though no offence but the colour is kind of drab, I mean sure it's realistic but idk, he seems to realistic for 40k.
otherwise for a 1st mini it's pretty good
only other issue I have is on his right hand the silver is on his fingers, which could do with a really fine touch up, other than that the white stripes should be thicker for the road. Also the road is an interesting concept, maybe try and find some reference to how 40k roads are like, so that you can fit in better fluff wise.

>They're supposed to be deep striking in the pod.
I know they are, but they can't assault out of the pot and the fact is, once they're out, they're fucked. They might make it to assault with one or two units all game, depending on how lucky you get with the Skyhammer's pinning tests. That's why I said give them jump packs, since they can still deep strike (albeit less reliably, but locator beacons exist on those pods), they have a decent melee threat range once on the ground, and also you don't pose out on Drop Pod Assault since your total non-Skyhammer pods will still round up to 2.

Small elite teams can be very useful in kill-teams, but you're capping yourself at only 5 models, with no 2+ saves.. So they actually can't afford to take any casualties.

You can and probably will run into problems if you face a team that focuses on larger numbers though. Like for example the infamous "100 levys" list would just hand your ass to you on a silver platter. Same with the alternative 50 conscripts or 70 militia. Of course you will SHRED other elite teams to pieces with your AP3, but you have nothing to deal with hordes.

With no Transports and no Infiltrate or Deep Strike, they're going to get mown down before they can do anything. Same with the Cultists - there just isn't enough of them to make an impact. No legion makes this kind of list a hard sell. Your dudes are foot slogging and they are extremely reliant on just a 3+ save. Your melta dudes are gonna feel it the worse as getting into the 12" range is going to be a bitch. The three forgefiends are probably your best units but even with 8 s8 ap4 shots between the two of them, BS 3 is gonna screw you over. The ectoplasma is solid and the 24" shouldn't see problems at 1000 pts but you might feel it hurting you at higher points brackets and everyone having more points to bring dedicated tank hunters.

Hope this helps

There is rumor of Bobby becoming regent of Terra and second great crusade.
>>
>>52088457

Most recent rumours points to Gulliman becoming Lord Commander of the Imperium, second only to Emps, massive increase in Warp Storms across the galaxy making navigation and communications difficult, and Gulliman starting a new Crusade to push back Chaos.

Literal meat shield for your footslogging monsterous creature.
I mean, if you want him to survive it's not a bad idea, but you'd have to protect the meatshield itself somehow, as it's fucking expensive. Fast attack rhinos making a wall in front of it is my best idea, and you can even store some of the squads in them.
Not an amazing formation, but could be used very well in a large army.

Assuming he is saving on his 3++, he will need to eat 30 wounds. I figured this by working in batches of 10 wounds. For every 10 wounds he takes, he will save 6.6 on his 3++ in average. He will save another 1.1 on his fnp, taking 2.2 wounds at the final tally. So on average, Guilliman will take about 30 wounds before he dies.

'WHEN WE CONFRONTED THE CORRUPTED, HOMICIDAL HORUS WHO ONCE USED TO SHINE LIKE THE BRIGHTEST STAR, WHO USED TO BE OUR BELOVED FAVOURITE – WHEN THE FATE OF THE GALAXY HUNG BY A THREAD – WERE WE NOT COMPELLED TO EXPEL ALL COMPASSION? ALL LOVE? ALL JOY? THOSE WENT AWAY. HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE ARMOURED OURSELVES? EXISTENCE IS TORMENT, A TORMENT THAT MUST NOURISH US. EVIDENTLY WE MUST STRIVE TO BE THE FIERCE REDEEMER OF MAN, YET WHAT WILL REDEEM US?’
‘Great lord of all,’ whimpered Jaq, ‘did you know of the hydra before now?’
‘NO, AND WE SHALL SURELY ACT IN DUE TIME—’
‘YET SURELY WE KNEW. HOW COULD WE NOT KNOW?’
‘ONCE WE HAVE ANALYSED THE INFORMATION WITHIN THIS SUB-MIND OF OURS.’
‘HEAR THIS, JAQ DRACO: ONLY TINY PORTIONS OF US CAN HEED YOU, OTHERWISE WE NEGLECT OUR IMPERIUM, OF WHICH OUR SCRUTINY MUST NOT FALTER FOR AN INSTANT. FOR TIME DOES NOT HALT EVERYWHERE WITHIN THE REALM OF MAN. INDEED TIME ONLY HALTS FOR YOU.’
‘WE ARE AN EVER-WATCHFUL LORD, ARE WE NOT? DID YOU HOPE TO GAIN OUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION?’
‘HOW ELSE SHOULD WE SOUL-BIND PSYKERS AND OVERVIEW THE WARP AND BEAM THE ASTRONOMICAN BEACON AND SURVIVE AND RECEIVE INFORMATION AND GRANT AUDIENCES ALL AT ONCE, UNLESS WE ARE MANY?’
‘AND YET STILL WE MISS SO MUCH, SO VERY MUCH? SUCH AS THAT WHICH GUIDED YOU HERE.’
‘OUR SPIRIT GUIDED YOU.’
‘NO: ANOTHER SPIRIT, A REFLECTION OF OUR GOODNESS WHICH WE THRUST FROM US.’
‘WE ARE THE ONLY SOURCE OF GOODNESS, SEVERE AND DRASTIC. THERE IS NO OTHER SOURCE OF HOPE THAN US. WE ARE AGONISINGLY ALONE.’

Aeldari = Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Ynarri
Xenos = Taus, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids
Chaos = Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Chaos Squats, Chaos Undivided, Abaddon's EverArmless army
>>
>>52088934
No, they already FAQ'd the Ynnarri book. They count as both Ynnari AND their own faction (CWE, DE, or Harlies), and you can't have any faction mismatches for transports. So the the two new characters can ride in transport just fine (since they only have the Ynnari faction).
>>
>>52088934
"Ynnari models have two Factions (except in the
case of Yvraine, the Visarch and the Yncarne, who only
have one). You must consider both of their Factions to
determine their levels of Alliance and which Transports
they may be embarked on at the beginning of the
game. For example, an Eldar/Ynnari unit shares the
same Factions as other Eldar/Ynnari, but is of different
Factions from (though Battle Brothers with) Dark
Eldar/Ynnari and Harlequins/Ynnari. An Eldar/Ynnari
unit can therefore only begin the game embarked if it is
embarked on an Eldar/Ynnari vehicle."

New Name (although still using 40k), contents/design will remind to 2nd edition starter, (but unknown if it will include SM vs Ork), new rulebook (Streamlined rules similar to AoS General handbook but slightly more complex), another book is like old codex imperialis.

iOs/android app after release
All existing army's will be available online (app/web).
Not codex, but future book release is similar to AoS battletome, etc...

GW will also launch a new game for organiced play (Although basically it will be a rulebook) for fantasy models that will share some "rules" with this new 40k.

So other than Cadia what major planets or battles has it lost?

Far as I can see it lost Cadia and that's it. Not to mention the only Daemon Primarch we've seen do squat, Magnus, has been repulsed both times he's tried to attack the Imperium. Not impressive.

On the other hand we now know that the Imperium is apparently about to unleash an EVEN LARGER army than the Fuckhueg one they've always had, and about to unleash EVEN GREATER tech than the awesome tech they've always had, and the Custodes and Sisters of Silence are joining AND all the rivalries are being put aside.

Considering what Chaos has achieved pre-this (destroying Cadia...and that's about all we know) I doubt Chaos will achieve anything post this.

Honestly this is way more an optimistic ending then I expected.

>Calgar destroyed a tiny tendril of the hive
Wot? He literally takes part in destroying Behemoth, the biggest Hive Fleet seen till then.

Over the entire imperium?

Yeah.

>Nids are a threat, sure, but if Calgar beat them Guilliman can do it without breaking a sweat

The small filaments are tendrils.
And a Vulcan didn't beat a billion orks.

Magnus made Fenris inhabitable and thus doomed the Wolves, so there's that.

To be honest he's right. Vulkan alone, without the Emperor's sword, is able to fight a planetary invasion of Beast Orks. The 'he's a Perpetual' also doesn't matter here as he doesn't die once.

Later on he also shows he can walk through and endure a gravity beam the Orks use to break down planets for constructing their Moon Bases. So yeah, if Guilliman is even half as durable and strong as that (and has the Emperor's Sword and canonically among the greatest intelligence/strategic skills ever) he probably could.

Actually I meant Armageddon. As far as I remember the most recent Ork Waaaghs of note were Armageddon (which has not destroyed any worlds), the Red Waaagh which I believe destroyed three worlds and the Charadon Waaagh which I believe has accounted for two worlds.

Paltry numbers and, in many cases, barring Armageddon and Ryn's world the worlds invaded were of minor importance.

Yes Vulkan did. He fights an enitre invasion of Orks in the Beast series.
>>
>>52089277
Wolves aren't doomed. Book itself says the Corruption got bled out and the mutants taken. The remaining inhabitants are fine, the world is purified and the Space Wolves can still recruit.

Honestly a lot of people, seemingly, have never read Wrath of Magnus.

>Maugan Ra defeated a swarm from a Hive Ship.

It was an entire Hive ship that got split from the main fleet.

>No Phoenix Lord has ever done anything close to that.

That's their whole MO. Fuegan killed 32 Daemon Lords in a single battle and Irilyth faced a Keeper and it's horde alone and won.

Only one of those that is impressive is Fuegan taking out 32 Greater Daemons. Does he do it at once or over time? He's a primarch, he easily could be killing 100's with each blow from Doom tremor. In the book he literally jumps through Stompas and they all instantly detonate, killing everyone inside, then he jumps out the other side. Or at one point he wipes out two battlewagons in one go, with all the Orks inside.

If Maugan Ra solo killing a nid swarm is impressive, I don't see why Irilyth solo killing a daemon host isn't. Fuegan got the high score at The Battle of Harenshemesh. It's in his 6th edition codex entry.

I doubt it. They included a formation in FoC that includes Crusader squads and requires Templar chapter tactics. Plus, Castellans of The Imperium can incorporate Crusader squads and Templar characters.

We also know based on the pictures of the dioramas in he book that the Templars at least make it as far as the fight with Magnus' forces.

All Primarch lore since the heresy novels started adds nothing of worth to the setting.
>>
>>52088190

Is there any way outside of vehicles to add mobility to these guys? Or a way to protect them against shooting?
>>
>>52089392

Saying Karandras was "defeated" by a dread is like saying Curze was defeated by an assassin. He didn't even fight the thing and got up two paragraphs later to hunt it down. Also, since when did dreads count as "normal" marines? If that counts as normal how bout the time Angron joobed in single combat to a Brother Captain? Or that time a freshly appointed Grand Master mopped the floor with Mortarion AND his honour guard? Or when Magnus got sent packing by a chapter master and his khornate axe?

Jain Zar single handedly wiped that warband down to less than a dozen members and forced their retreat. Talos didn't even kill her in his suicide explosion, just maimed her enough for a dread to follow up. It was an Eldar victory in their own novels. That's how pathetic Night Lords are. They lose in their own books.
>>
>>52089398
I...don't think Maugan Ra killing a swarm is impressive. That's why I said the Fuegan one was the only impressive one.

Also I saw the Fuegan thing and, importantly, it certainly does not say he took them on simultaneously. But, regardless, I'd still give that as probably the single most impressive thing a Phoenix Lord has ever done.

Also Jain Zar was explicitly defeated by Marines. Like Karandas.
>>

Curze won but suffered two wounds. Girlyman was dead to rights and had to talk his way out.
>>

Agreed that that is complete bullshit, especially since all the new stuff is probably going to be nothing but Marines, not anything for any actually relevant fighting force. Maybe he'll advise the Skitarii to get themselves some Chimeras, though.

>>52089161

The Admech always had the WTFbullshit tech though, they're just a tad reluctant to break it out.
Also, the Custodes are irrelevant. There were only 10 thousand during the Heresy, there's probably quite a few less now. Won't do much good on this scale of warfare. Guard, Skitarii and the Inquisition will probably do the actual work, as usual.
>>
>>52087724
There was still nothing in 7e fluff suggesting that the "only 1000 Templars" crap from that novel still holds any value.

Losing a crusade worth of guys is obviously a notable hit, but not enough to remove them entirely.
>>
>>52089437
Didn't the audi drama VASTLY expand on Mortarion's defeat? And wasn't Magnus actually defeated because the entire combined Grey Knight 3rd Company poured their psychic might against the breach his axe caused?

Both cases certainly were more involved than 'grenade' and then stepped on.

Also doesn't Void Hunter literally end with the reborn Prophet rallying the Night Lords for a combined attack on Ulthwe as prophesied? (admittedly said plot point was clearly forgotten about, but in their own book if I remember correctly the prophecy wasn't interrupted)
>>
>>52089454

Sure, I'm just disgusted by canon is all.

It's one thing to have marines be super wanked up supersoldiers. That's totally fitting with the spirit of the setting.

Doesn't really change my point though. Makes it seem like the only reason Tyranid, Abaddon and Ghazz have been even the small threats they are is cause the Imperium wasn't bothering to fight them.

Not to mention I doubt the Custodes will be irrelevant. If GW can have groups of 500 men at a time swing battlefields occuring across planet wide fronts where, realistically, enormous numbers should be invovled, I'm sure they'll let a force of 1000 'Better Marines' have a major impact.
>>
>>52089440

Do you have any idea how many nids there are on a Hive ship? Tens of thousands of Warriors alone. And he killed every single one of them. If that's not impressive then nothing is as that's logistically impossible for one infantryman to do that. Killing 30 something big Daemons is way more possible seeing as PLs have defeated them in a single blow almost every time. That's 20 minutes tops. How the fuck do you kill a million nids in alone? There's only so much synapstic backlash a skull elf can cause.

Immediately retconned by the Codex, which hilariously made the fight even MORE one sided in Draigo's favour.

Void Hunter ends with a consolation prize for them losing the battle in the form of a vague prophecy against the faction that has so many vague prophecies they have entire libraries dedicated to them. It's not even a prophecy that makes sense. It was just the promise that another could take on his gene seed and mantle with no guarantee he wouldn't get slapped around by Jain again.

Because people like planetary gouvernors have shown in the past to generally not give a shit about the Imperium at large, the Administratum as well as the AdMech and other organizations are built on inertia and rote by this point and production lines have been working 24/7 already to stave of the impending doom, even Guilliaume can't make them work 24/7-ier.

I think you're getting confused. Magnus never faced GK as far as I'm aware. He was defeated by Space Wolves because Grimnar smacked him with a Khornate axe.

You're mixing it up with the First War of Armageddon where Angron and 12 BloodThirsters were defeated by the GK 3rd company. A young recruit called Hyperion destroyed The Black Blade with psychic power and Brother-Captain Taremar Aurellian personally banished Angron, but died in the process.

IIRC, they're all cross-compatible. Go check the 40k RPG thread.

Tabletop wise, the beginning investment is pretty expensive, but in my opinion, worth it if you find you like painting and/or building models, as well as if you limit your spending, will probably cost more or less the same as any other /tg/ hobby, such as collecting Magic cards. The rules are a bit complicated and a tad unbalanced, but so long as you play casual games it's all good.

RPG wise, there used to be the 40kRPGs by FFG, but due to legal disputes they are no longer printed and you'll have to download them from the /40kg/ thread.

What I'd reccomend you do is go to Games Workshop's website, go to their 40k section, and look at all the available factions. See which one catches your eyes so long as it's not Tau or Eldar or Orks or Tyranids or Dark Eldar, then read up about them and see if you like their fluff as well. After that, decide on a color scheme that you like, canon or not, look up how to paint videos, and get started!

And here's some advice:
DO NOT buy more stuff until you've finished building painting what you have.

DO thin your paints.

I hope this helps! If there's anything I missed, other anons can probably help you further.

>Calgar notices the commotion too, and watches in horror as Yvraine raises her sword above Guilliman. He shouts a command to Tigurius, ordering him to stop the xenos witch, but Tigurius shakes his head in response as Yvraine cuts through the power cables sustaining the stasis field. The auto-reliquary that Cawl had been transporting then unfurls, and engulfs Guilliman.

Local stores got dick over.

Owner asked for x, y and z. Instead GW sent them boxes of Krootox along with of Box of vampire horse thingy.

The most common occurrence was sending overstock of special characters. Things that a small store didn really need nor wanted.

When as a store owner you have to tell your costumers again and again "sorry GW sent the wrong stuff again" it is a short road to killing a store.

AoS was the last straw for the last store that brought GW stuff. Before selling them a bunch of fantasy stuff the owner (an old lady that has been selling nerdy stuff in my country for long as I can remember) was told that AoS was a skirimish game spinoff for fantasy not a completely new game that was going to replace fantasy.

Even bigger stores that bought in bulk got fed up with their constantly wrong shipping.

It felt they just put underpaid interns to deal with SA

I am torn on the presence of the Templars in Rise of The Primarch.

On one hand, it's cool that we at least had a presence in it, and Marshal Amalrich was pretty cool.

On the other hand, we do take a beating over the course of the story. The Celestinian Crusade is destroyed. Sad to see Amalrich die, but at the same time his sacrifice was a glorious and heroic one.

>Guilliman reluctantly agrees, recognising the need for symbolism, and during the procession the Arch-Consul presents Guilliman with a gilded crown. But as Guilliman dons the crown, he’s struck by visions and thoughts of future glories – his armies countless beyond number, willing to die for him gladly. Planets, sectors and whole segmentums renamed in his honor and eventually the Golden Throne itself his to claim. He deserved nothing less after all…. And Guilliman rips the crown off with a gasp. The Arch-Consul dissolves into a mutant spawn, hissing and spitting, and Guilliman hears a voice echo through his mind that he had not heard since Thessala. Fulgrim mockingly welcomes Guilliman back to Ultramar and, while disappointed he resisted the temptations of the Crown of Glories, promises him that this is but the first of many temptations. Fulgrim’s voice laughs as he promises Guilliman that he will never be able to trust the feeling of self-satisfaction again. Disgusted, Guilliman slays the mutant creature, but he can’t seem to erase Fulgrim’s words from his mind…

No idea, but everyone here has had a bad experience when dealing with GW directly. When things go right it is almost news.

Some times we place bets on how long a parcel will take to arrive. Since UPS is not an option unless you want to pay 50% of product+shipping in random UPS fees. Even with taxes and it shouldn't pass 30%. As to why the fuck UPS charges for "dealing with costums" is a mystery.

Brings nothing new.
Its a 770pt base formation. With bonuses only good against Daemons.

>But you get +1 Deny the Witch!
Grey Knight Librarians can already be PM3, 4+ Deny vs PM2 and lower

The Warding Stave gives +1, so we're at 3+

All Grey Knights have the Aegis so they reroll Deny the Witches of 1.

So before they could deny on a 3+, rerolling 1's within 12" of the Librarians due to their Hood.

Now this formation lets them Deny on a 2+ rerollable... AGAINST Maledictions and Witchfires. Vs Blessings and Summoning it's still a flat 6.

But the issue is its nothing NEW. It's a mediocre formation that does nothing that GKs need.

It's okay for a Narrative fight. But between the Daemonic Adversaries table that buffs the enemies a SHIT TON, a bland Valdus, and a mediocre formation. GKs got crap this book and are effectively still rocking their gutted 5e codex with 7e FAQ

GW games are having a hard time due to GW incompetence.

We are used to 1-2 month shipping, that is a slow shipping. A fast one is about a a week.
With GW? Their normal shipping is 2-6 months and their fast is 1-2 months with UPS the Random extra charges courier.

Quiet good at hunting tanks and spamming obliterators. Not top tier, but viable enough. Unusual for CSM they should avoid melee.

So let me get this straight, Rowboat is supposed to be the top poobah in the Imperium now and rather than treating all his subjects equally he just flat out makes the Ultramarines just outrank everyone else? That's pretty dodgy for a leader.

The reason why it is slow at least here is because the cheap fucks send them by Royal Mail as a letter. Resulting as low priority and annoying "letter" to deliver since it is a box and not an evelope that fits in the bag of the postman.

They went out of their way to deliver it in the worst way possible.

OKay, cool. Mastery III on a Grandmaster is neat, as is a non-Unwieldy hammer. Still, 240pts seems like a very high price.

That would require them actually putting work in.

Grand Master
>185pts
PM3
>25pts (if possible)
Daemon Hammer

So losing Unwieldy (his ONLY unique trait) is 20pts.
>>
>>52091505
he also gets the fourth power, if we're being technical about it
>>
>>52091467
At least the GK formation can just deep strike.
>>
>>52091505
Isn't getting an extra Psychic power also unique to him?

If find the worst part is that he can't even be used in the new formation.
>>

Loyalists BTFO.

>>52091472
They're priced like Chosen with VotLW (which is what the formation used to be), but they don't have the Hared (Space Marines). They also lost the ability to throw a Special Weapon onto the sergeant.

>>
>>52091472
The big differences are that the Champion can't take a special weapon (flamer, melta, plasma) like the book normally allows. They also seem to be 20 points due to VotLW, which would explain the increased leadership and price. That's kind of bad now though since all the Traitor Legions get it for free.

They also can't pick up Marks or Icons. That cuts out a lot of their options for survivability or close combat power with marks, and not having Icons means they can't grab fearless, though with ATSKNF that might be less necessary.

Pretty big downsides overall.
>>
>>52091409
Presumably everyone with a separate codex will get a separate e-update when the new edition hits, just like with AoS. Black Templars will probably get their characters and that's it, as I doubt Chapter Tactics will survive another complexity contraction. It wouldn't be the first time GW removed chapter tactics because they decided it was too complex.
>>
>>52091550
>They also can't pick up Marks or Icons. That cuts out a lot of their options for survivability or close combat power with marks, and not having Icons means they can't grab fearless
Didn't the old dataslate also disallow them taking any Chaos options?
>>
>>52091505
Honestly, loosing Unwieldy on a weapon like a thunderhammer would be worth 20 pts to me, but the overall pricetag of the Grandmaster is already insane.

>>
>>52091583
It probably did. This seems to basically be a translation of their old dataslate, save for the champion weapon change, but that's kind of bad. Chaos has gotten quite a few buffs since then, and there are far better ways to run a squad of Chosen without marks or Icons.
>>
