Except one guy who basically plays a boring self insert human in every game. Same name as him, too. I've also had one guy who only played females, but they were still somewhat different.

Yes, every person plays characters of only one class for their entire life.
I myself have never not played a ranger, and I intend to play rangers again and again.

No. I've seen this happen, but I've also seen players with characters that are roughly similar to them, and I've seen both (and characters on a spectrum between the two) with enough frequency that any "pattern" I were to infer would simply be the result of the human brain grasping at pattern-finding straws.

I used to really like wizards. Now I pretty much play fighters/warrior/barbarian/paladin/knight/whatever.

I don't know if the move is because I've gotten into fitness and weight lifting, or because I'm just largely bored with playing the game-breaking wizard.

In my experience, there's no real correlation between a specific type of person and a specific type of character. And only an extreme minority of people always play the same kind of character. People enjoy variety.

I mean, I wouldn't know. I'm kinda fit myself, used to do martial arts and was a black belt in it. Nowadays I just exercise to stay in shape and my characters are mostly fighters/kinght/warriors variants.
