Question: do dedicated transports benefit from the special rules of their attached unit? Havocs with Tank Hunters makes it possible to plasma vomit tanks to death, but if the Rhino doesn't benefit from it, it may as well use its combo-plasma on something else, or I may swap it out for a meltagun.

Army-wise the Warpsmith footslogs hiding behind the dread, repairing any damage and hopefully granting it IWND. They get cover fire from the Rapier which should attract anything that was considering firing at the lonely IC the moment it spits out a S10 pieplate. Autocannon squad camp an objective and cover Warp/dread team as best they can, or simply dakka anything within 24". The two Rhinos and Predator blitzkrieg the rest of the table.

Because Gulliman is a streamlined dreadnought now. He's wearing an overbulky life support suit that he can never remove without dying... And I think Cawl tried to clumsily force it to look like he's not in a life support frame, leading to horribly warped proportions.

I like to think that they're an ends to justify the means kind of faction. They were ousted by the other Dangles because one side or the other went traitor. They had to take allies where they could, but they are firmly against chaos, hence their CtA alliance with Daemons. I could see them working with legions like the 8th and Alpha because they have large chunks of dudes who are anti-daemon, or at least don't straight up worship the gods.

On the imperium side, they use the Dangles secrecy against them since no one knows them to be Fallen. If a bunch of Marines in black armor and robes show up to an imperial battle and start killing their enemies, I don't think anyone in the imperium would think anything of it, except the Dangles.

The end result is that they get to move their plots forward, so they do.

I go with a very simple colour scheme for my warriors, they are not supposed to be of much importance or well maintained, they should just function. A bit of grime building up on them, since nobody cares for them.
Immortals will look a little bit better, when I come around to paint them.
The Lychguard will look nicely painted, with some fine details and bits of gold, while my Overlord has lots of gold on him, and a body looking like it was just built from the best materials.
Vehicles/Canotek will look a bit unremarkable, nothing special, save for the Command Barge of course.

I'm kinda of the opinion that now that terminators are a few points cheaper, the real issue isn't "make them 2 wound!" "make them T5", but rather that Stormbolters are a shitty, shitty weapon.

Since Termies are meant to clear bunkers and space hulks and such, I figure the ideal equipment is a heavy flamer as their standard sidearm. It's fluffy, and makes them worth talking.

Another weird bit though is the sergeant's sword. It makes a lot of sense to have an at-initiative guy to cut down plebs before they can swamp the unweildy guys, but a power sword gives up too much compared to a fist. Maybe make it a relic blade? S6 at initiative would be pretty neato.

Tau generally has one (1) viable unit or strategy. Before it was Fish of Fury. Right now it's the Riptide Wing, which any codex can take thanks to 7th ed Ally rules.
So when a WAAC sees an 1850-point Eldar list where 500 of those points are Riptides, they blame...Tau, of course. It's the meme.
I mean, after all, Riptides are pretty broken. They're so hard to kill, and they have such range! Nevermind that the Tau codex which literally has the Riptide isn't Tier 1, nevermind that other codexes like Eldar have even stronger MCs, nevermind that simply bringing Grav counters the Riptide, it's an unreasonable unit so we need to perpetuate the meme. It's vital.

If you want actual criticism of the codex, the "unfun" part comes from everything in the codex being a tailorable glass cannon. It's not very fun for your opponent when you're simply steamrolling through their army thanks to how absolutely versatile your codex is, and it's not very fun for you if you forgot to bring enough Plasma for MEQs or Cyclic/Airbust/Burst for blobs so your units end up doing nothing while blowing up for five turns.

And the Tau'nar is a genuinely overpowered unit that can singlehandedly carry a game, as the rare tournament where it's legal shows.

Why would anyone ever play an NPC race like Tyranids?
It would be better to remove them from the game as a playble faction and just add action tables for them.

The issue isn't that they're glass cannons, it's that they're tailorable glass cannons.
So your 55pt-a-model MEQs with Fusions will either stomp vehicles or simply die to any medium-sized blob because they can only put out 2 BS3 shots a turn, for example.

The logic that most Tau haters use is that, in either situation, one player isn't having fun. Which is a reasonable argument to make, but it's not really something exclusive to Tau.

Despite the appearance, I've never found it worth a damn to rely on GK psychic powers. You don't get enough units to create a battery, the dice are unreliable, and if you really want to get one off the opponent can usually crush it. Psychic powers are nice when they happen, but unless you're Tzeentch Daemons, I wouldn't dare rely on them.

The worst part is the threat they pose is completely front-loaded.

For armies that move and shoot to get into melee, or just rush into melee, you spend the first few turns getting shot at, then you have to deal with their ridiculous overwatch and supporting fire, then you just curb stomp them.

I had a game once where I charged a unit of fire warriors, and the terminator unit I charged with took 89 shots in one "instance" of overwatch and was completely wiped out from fire warriors because of ethereal buffs and supporting fire.

Posted about my brother wanting to start Necrons for cheap a few threads ago. How's this list for a beginner (He already has an Overlord and I'd suggest him getting another SC! Necrons box and their Armored Assault bundle) and what kind of power level should I bring against it when getting him adjusted to how the game works? Anything I should really not bring from AdMech or Space Marines against this list to keep it fun and fair and not too complex?

The melee ones are appropriate. You should always be having 1-2 30-50 man blobs pushing up the field ready to fix bayonets. If you don't, you're playing 7th wrong.

Yeah, it's mostly just having two lying around. Wanted to keep the list limited to those two boxes due to him wanting to not spend more than he has to, as he's not yet planning to get REALLY into it and just wants to play the game with me and a mutual friend and wants to build some things.

If you can find it anywhere, try getting the Eradication Cohort. It's a great fuckign deal and the only thing you'll not use are the Priests. Add another Kataphron unit to it and you'll have almost everything you'll ever need. If you buy a Sicarian unit on top of that, you'll literally have everything you'll ever really need since you were planning to get a Knight already anyway.
