What would be the best system for this kind of concept?
A claustrophobic science fiction horror where an alien virus mutates organic lifeforms and twists them to savage horrors. PCs are also infected but they are able to channel the virus' mutations to give then certain abilites. One end to the mutation scale transorms your body like the savage horrors and the other end mutates you into a ethereal like being with physics bending powers.
Focusing on one side of the tree risks becomes a savage horror and the other side risks being detached to reality and become an uncaring, apathetic, unknowable entity.
Gaining powers and retaining your humanity is part of the theme of the game.

Dunno, I don't personally like the system that much, but Eclipse Phase is one, though it goes into the deep end with Transhumanism etc
