>>51987244
Define cheese. If it's a lot of Rhinos then 4 ML should pop one a turn, the Devs don't have split fire anyway so you gain nothing from overkill. Bunch of hammernators, jinking shit and AV14 ? Yeah, I guess it's worth the few more points then.

A Black Knight costs 40 points so by dropping one you can afford two more devastators AND the auspex for the Libby. Since you want to have him go solo from time to time (which I wouldn't advise since he doesn't reroll jinks or have a invul save by default) you could also give him a melta bomb for the last 5 spare points for some hit and run on the enemy vehicles. Or an auspex for the Devastator Libby in case you don't roll ignore cover.
>>
>>51987401
Seems decent except against flyers or hordes.
>>
>>51987365
I don't think they're dedicated, but they are pretty solid from what I recall. They've got a twin-linked Deffgun by default, and they're Fast Skimmers. That makes them very good as both firing platforms and as assault transports. Being able to Jink also adds to their survivability a bit.

Downside is that they're like 60 points, so you're spending double the cost for all this. It may be worth it for something where a Trukk is too cheap but a Battlewagon is too expensive.

Im pretty sure you have to take a PCS and 2 infantry squads to make a platoon, not just the command squad.

For 200pts you could either go 3 Ogryns and one Chimera or 4 Ogryns and 5 Ratlings.

I use plasma for that.

TA is mediocre weapon and there is no way around it. Against vehicles it one S7 shot on average. Against infantry you need ~4,5 shots to kill single guy from 5+ cover. Only thing going on for it is long range. But everything else is just bad.

And its bad because you cant count on it to do its job when you need it. Its just random shots plinking at your opponent and its rare if it does anything worthwhile.
>>
>>51988325

Killteam requires four non-vehicle minis, so three Ogryns and a chimera wouldn't be legal.

Four Ogryns only leaves 30 points though, it's hard to find something that would fit into that because you can't give them wargear.
>>
>>51988055
No.
He has an in built life support system, but that's hardly the same thing as being interred in a dreadnought.
>>
>>51988345
Any horde army, I suppose?
>>
>>51988323
Generally people pick their armies because of how they look and how the fluff appeals to them, christ theres a ton of Ork players who love Orks despite them being shit in the table, same with Black Templar players.

Pick an army that you want to paint and build for months on end because thats what you'll be doing most of the time, working on your models, the rules might change in the future, YOUR models wont.

My advise is get a Start Collecting box or a transport+troop box and play Kill Team for now.
>>
>>51988345
500 points isn't even close to an accurate representation of gameplay for many armies.
>>
>>51988408
That's not a Primarch though. That's the Space Wolves Commander.
>>
>>51988388
Vect is fine with Harlies though, he employs a lot of them.

As long as you're using only Deldar and Harlie units than the fluff is perfectly in tact. The 'soul burst' shit actually feels more like the old school PfP anyway, is it that hard to reconcile in your mind that the Deldar are just getting drunk of bloodlust?
>>

Honestly they work hand in hand. Give the Ironstrider a TL Lascannon for more reliable penetration on heavier tanks, and let the Rangers pick off transports, and they can both work together to put the hurt on MC's. Of the two I'd say the Rangers are more useful to cover more bases; you can pick off light vehicles while on the move and then harass infantry squads with massed Precision shots to single out sargeants and special weapons.

A Primarch is going to wade through anything they come up against with distainful ease, barring another Primarch or daddy/the four slapping them down for talking shit.

It just mashes them together in a bad detachment. Giving your vehicles IWND would be nice and all if you actually had vehicles to easily spam. You only have Onagers, Ironstriders and Dragoons. Both Cavaliers are usually just penetrated once and then explode if they take damage and the Onager you can't reliably spam since it's 90 points and you already have 300+ points in Troops and HQs.

That 300 point minimum tax of units that won't even get a Detachment bonus makes it impossible to use in small point games.

well shit, it appears that geedubs is really translating of 40k into Brazillian portuguese

a friend of mine stated that EC is almost fully translated, and when he and someguys went to PCG event, he asked relic and some sega about that, and it looks like geedubs asked them to translate the game and the units into hue language due to the new demand.

since there's a strong but small WHFB and 40k scene there, losing only to the shitload of players who plays SW, GURPS, D&D and defenders of tokyo/FATAL/3D&T

Actually now I do have a question about my beloved stormpoopers: what's a good army to pair them with? my mechanicus stuff will be further down the pipe and my lore for the Thousand sons will expand on the kabal and their motives, they will be called the "Seeds of Prosperity" and their interest in Settra prime would be the fact that a number of Prosperan architects and engineers stayed there to help the construction and integrated with the locals, though they still fail to take the planet, they did manage to steal promising specimens to try and breed a new generation of the once extinct prosperan genome, with the necrons standing as the main obstical between them and turning Settra Prime into a new Prospero

Yes, they can definitely take over a Chaos cult. But the same can also happen in reverse, where a Chaos cult can supplant a Genestealer one. Crisis Suits are too versatile for there to be an answer. Just don't mix weapons, whatever you do.
It all depends on what you expect to see and what the rest of your list looks like.

Fusions for vehicles and MCs.
Plasma for MEQs, TEQs, and MCs.
Cyclic for blobs and light vehicles.

Think about your local meta and decide between those. Remember that at AP1, you don't need that many Fusions to pop a vehicle, whereas when it comes to hitting units you'll want volume.

Avoid Burst, Airfrag, and Missiles. They do well in their specific niches, but they're not allcomers. Flamers are only good for overwatch.
>>
>>51987219

>>51990563

>>

>>51990676
Oh, and don't ever invest in Twin-Linked unless you're going for Fusion Blades. Having two of a weapon is better than one twin-linked one.

>but it feels so lackluster
Because you're using Burst Cannons and Missile Pods. Twin-linked ones at that.

>or they get targeted and wiped out before they use their full potential
There are literally only two ways to use Crisis Suits
Either Jump-Shoot-Jump, meaning they should never actually get hit
or a suicide bomb, in which case they should completely wipe a unit before dying

What's wrong with riptides anyway?

You think removing riptides from the game is going to somehow make orks more competitive? You're a fuckinh idiot if you do.

Against mid and top tier armies 1 riptide (or 3 at 1850) is no problem and you know it.

Having a contingency for riptides is part of list building just like you have to include AA and AT in a succesful list.

Don't reply. I want to see how many take this b8
>>

Outside of a borderline racist dub for their video game, there isn't really anything weeaboo about Tau, though.
Mechs aren't weeaboo, unless you're proposing every faction short of Tyranids are just as weeb.
They don't have samurai. They even hate close combat.
There's no bushido code or sense of personal honor. It's a caste system where everyone has an assigned job.
They're communists, not imperialists.
They don't do any of the anime tropes.
I genuinely don't understand what's even remotely weeb about them outside of GW paying a bunch of Japanese people to voice them.

>>
>>51991008
You're absolutely right, because if the Riptide by itself was such a star-spangled unit then Tau's winrate would reflect that. The only genuine complaint is more against the Formation and Allies system in 7th Edition, but people rarely ever actually call that out specifically. And it's not like the Riptide is the only tanky MC in the game; Wraithknights rarely get called out on here, and they even come stock with D weapons and an even more busted formation. Riptide hate isn't really supported by the numbers, it's just a meme to hate on Tau at this point and the Riptide is the low-hanging fruit.

There's actually a really simple test to see whether or not someone is retarded. Ask them what the strongest Tau unit is right now, and if they answer Riptide or Stormsurge, they've outed themselves as not actually playing the game.

A bunch of their aesthetics and language are drawn from Samurai and "wise Chinese general" cliches though. It's all Sun Tzu Said this and Be Patient, Grasshoppa that.

>There's no bushido code or sense of personal honor. It's a caste system where everyone has an assigned job.

My meta doesn't really care much (openly) about recasts as long as you don't ever try and sell them as if they were official.

If you show up with a 100% chinaman army I'm going to think you're a dick and probably give you some grief over it but I'm not going to refuse to play you or try and ice you out or anything.

Ultimately it's your time and your money and your hobby, if you want to play but you legitimately can't afford to buy GW plastic or FW shitcast and buying pirated minis is the only way that you'll be able to play Warhammer 40K than fuck it man, buy whatever you want.

Some metas will outright ban you and you'll never be able to step foot into a GW store if it's obvious they're recasts though. Shit like bad moulds or minis that are only available in metal not being heavy enough, or resin that's the wrong color, etc will give you away.

Well, according to the Chaos Warband formation, Warbands are, in fact, just like chapters, if you compare it to the Demi-company. Just no razorback or rhinos or grav or drop pods!

Split the bundle with someone who wants girlyman and make a Fallen based kill team to mix things up.

Isn't the twin-linked cheaper than two separate?

Y'varha and Ta'unar.

Unless you're playing a Taros Campaign scenario, Gue'vesa are illegal. (I'll sometimes run a governor. The truly impy shoot at him more than actual units.)

>suggests units from outside of the codex to be the strongest unit in the codex

>implying the Y'vahra isn't directly comparable to the Riptide and as of now plays second fiddle to the Riptide Wing
l m a o Riptide owners everyone

Different anon. I didn't assert anything about Riptides.

It is, but you have the ability to fire two weapons. Think of it this way, if you get two weapons, you'll make 8 rolls with your guns, and get up to 8 hits. If you get a twin-linked weapon, you'll potentially make 8 rolls with your guns, but only get up to 4 hits. Two guns will land just as many hits as a twin-linked gun on average, but have the potential to do much more.

Twin-linked is more useful when you already have two weapons to fire and want to improve one of them, or for when it's a really expensive gun and you're out to save points.

>Two guns will land just as many hits as a twin-linked gun on average, but have the potential to do much more
What everyone forgets is that Twin-linked guns had a smaller standard deviation in their results, that is, two guns has the potential to score more hits, but a Twin-liked gun has a higher chance of scoring AT LEAST one hit. This can make a difference if you like reliability, especially with a gun that is both expensive and has few shots, like the fusion blaster.

>Twin-liked gun has a higher chance of scoring AT LEAST one hit.

How do you figure?

If you shoot two fusion blasters, you roll two dice. If they're both 1s, you don't hit anything. If it's a 1 and a 4, then you got one.

If you shoot a twin-linked fusion blaster, nothing changes. You're still rolling two dice and getting the same thing for those results.

The only difference is that rolling two fours on the first is two hits, and rolling two fours on the second doesn't happen because you don't need to re-roll.

Essentially, you're saying that a twin-linked gun that got to always re-roll for a chance for an extra hit is somehow less consistent.

I started by picking up a bunch of models based on units I actually liked from games like dawn of war and various fluff, but once I finished painting them and I got interested, I realized I had effectively enough for a starting DE army so I got more.

So now I have about 1600 points of dark eldar, a baneblade, a squad of daemonettes, a techpriest enginseer, and a dreadnought.
