Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

Maybe he made them himself? I'd do that. Just run off some cheap blades with whatever's cheapest. Lets you make them official game-line weapons, too. And as long as you don't promise they'll be made in an authentic way, you could easily run off two dozen of them by renting access to your local machine shop for a week. Hell, you could even offer personalized crossguards.

For this tournament, can we launch Joint Thrusts at areas that are not covered by weak point armor, or does it HAVE to be covered by weak point armor?

For the purposes of the tourney, we will leave that up to individual fights. If both fighters allow it, I see no reason against it.

Did the Byzantines ever start wearing plate? If not, why not? Just seems weird to me that they existed alongside it without getting into it, but I've never seen any pictures of a Byzantine wearing even a piece of plate, let alone a full suit.
>>
>>51985093
"As for other projects, we intend to fully support and grow Song of Swords indefinitely. That being said there is a sci-fi project Jimmy has been working on and playtesting with that we have our eyes on for the future."
>>
>>51991786
They were mostly fighting the Turks, who didn't have weapons that really necessitated the heavy use of plate until literally just a short while before Constantinople fell.
>>
>>51991919
But plate is lighter than the various Byzantine armors. Plus, better protection is never bad.
>>
>>51991968
Money, infrastructure, culture.
I can't speak to specifics (different anon), but the greeks were a failing empire bankrupt of glory by the time of their fall.
>>
>>51991968
>Plus, better protection is never bad.

People don't always fix something that's not obviously broken. Lamellar armor and mail was more than sufficient to defeat what the Turks were throwing at them for centuries, so they didn't really need to develop plate armor.
>>
>>51992152
They didn't have to develop it themselves, they were fighting alongside or against people who already developed it. And while the Empire might not have been wealthy enough to buy plate for everyone, there were plenty of rich individuals.

So what's the average werewolf gonna do against your regular old pike formation? I think the longer the better with that kind of thing.

>>
>>51991564
EXTREMELY underrated post. Is this the voice of Bocanadessia?
>>
>>51992714
Well there are Werewolves, and Bisclavrets. Werewolves are men who literally turn into wolves. Bisclavrets are men who turn into wolf-man things. The latter are high-tier brutal shit and will seriously mcfucking kill you, the former are more like oddities, normal people who their wives think are cheating on them but who are actually just sneaking out at night to into a doge somewhere far away from people.

Bisclavrets are the ones whose wounds close instantly if they are not inflicted by silver, and who all seem to thirst for human blood. Impaling one on a pike would actually be sort of effective because the wound couldn't close until it became clear, but you wouldn't really be able to kill it with pikes unless you seriously got so many spearpoints into its lungs that it just couldn't breathe anymore and then held it down until it suffocated to death as it thrashed around.

If the abomination somehow got through and into the block, it would be terrible, unless someone has a silver katzbalger on them... Many men actually do carry small knives made of silver for precisely this reason, particularly in Galli and the Kaselreich.

Look, it's better than trying to pull a silver piece from your purse to try jam into its eye as it picks your entire body up by the skull with one hand and pulls back the other in preparation to punch its hand through your sternum and pull your still beating heart out of your chest to feast upon and increase it's powers and longevity.
>>
>>51992932
What about silversteel and orichalum? Poison? Mustard gas?
>>
Are wounds cumulative or do you just pick up duplicates?
>>
>>51993251
Cumulative. Getting hit with a level 2, doesn't mean the next level 2 to the same spot doesn't hurt
>>
>>51993440
>>51993251
Unless you mean cumulative as R1A1 L2, R1A2 L2 now you have an L4. That's not how it works.
>>
>>51993450
That's what I mean. If I just continue to take level 1 wounds to the same body part they don't turn into a level 5 right?

That's good, that'll make plate armor fights interesting.

And unless I'm misreading the combat rules...

If a guy in full plate is fighting a plebeian, could he just pull blue and refuse initiative, then (on second round, due to blue restrictions) ignore the enemy's declared attack and declare one of his own?

If you take a hit that does no damage your own attack isn't affected right? Wait till he spends his dice then force him to use quick defend and probably die anyway?

If you trust in your armor, you can do that.

So the counter to that is to not attack somewhere your enemy has armor, or when that's not viable, do something that affects even people in armor: Hook, Disarm, Blind Toss, go for grappling, or maybe even those Mobility maneuvers that no one ever uses.

And then the counter to that is to not stand still and do nothing like Homer Simpson's boxing career.

So answer true as have told you,
In fencing you will find no end,
as every backhand finds its fore,
Counter by counter without end

>We had to balance things so that a historically depicted human knight with a sword and shield could go toe-to-toe with classic fantasy races. Or fight giant monsters and dragons
I get the idea behind it but is this really reasonable? A lot of the point behind monsters and dragons in general, especially in medieval stories, is that they represent a deus ex that normal people can never defeat. They either represent a truly insurmountable obstacle you have to either work around or outsmart, an insurmountable obstacle meant to show you that yeah there actually is always someone better, or to be worfed by St. Martha or Beowulf to show just how awesome these literally superhuman heroes are.

There is a real Inspector Makarov after whom the stories are based, but according to the Vedrim bureau of justice, Sergei (he refuses a "hard" name, which would be Sergock) Makarov is basically a private detective who mostly handles divorce cases, and is only rarely called on to advise on serious crimes. According to the lore of the many plays and novelas that feature him, though, he insists that his name never be mentioned to the press or in public announcements, and is in fact involved in every high-profile case in the city and even in many abroad.

The humility of Inspector Makarov is part of his charm, he never attributes his achievements to his own brilliance, but to the excellent work of his staff and the justice system of Dace. He is just a humble public servant who would never presume to take credit for the achievements of his subordinates.

How much is fact, and how much is fiction? Who knows?

Just because you can go toe to toe with something doesn't mean you're going to win half the time, or even a quarter of the time. The point is that you have a chance. Fighting monsters is definitely no small endeavor, but you could build a character who could at least have a better chance of it than the average joe. As >>51994325 says, even Undead are fucking bad news bears for even high level PCs. A Dobarcuu would be a TPK for most groups. As always the key is to stack the odds in your favor before you engage.

Groups like the Unkindlies succeed because ten of them bushwhack these things at once, and four of them bring Abus Guns. It ain't the migration era anymore, the rats have forged steel.

We wouldn't be in the four digits. We funded in the first 24 hours based entirely on existing fans. The lowest we could feasibly be (given what we know now) would be around $16k if Jimmy and the boys had done literally nothing to promote the kickstarter.

That said, Galt's conservative estimate would be a reasonable (though very pessimistic) lower bound before seeing how the first day went. A third of the IPs being phones is a high number but not out of the realm of possibility, anf it's not strange to imagine only half the posters fronting their money.

No I understand that, but my point is that it shouldn't be possible in "low" fantasy for anything to touch a valkyrie-class threat.

Listen. I have people in my company whose only job it is to observe Kickstarter trends and determine possible outcomes based on their appeal, and the prior histories of the developers. I promise you, and I mean this with all sincerity--this is a fucking miracle. We have outperformed people with five or six times our industry credibility. We are climbing this ladder faster than many people would have thought humanly possible and we're doing it on a shoestring budget. I've had people Email me personally asking me who I work for, because they cannot rationalize this outcome except that Opaque Industries is the catspaw of some other publishing company.

You have to understand what goes into success in this industry. So much of it is who you know--we don't know Dickabod Crane much less anyone important. Our method is brute force, and it's working. A company's first venture is it's most dangerous and we've slugged it out of the park. Our next venture will be bigger, and the one after that, bigger still. Big picture, we're a space elevator. We have VERY big things in our future if we maintain our current trajectory.

Dahaka the Black. She is human, but of the sort that anyone who looks for a moment can tell is part Zellish. She is a bit under six feet tall, with long black hair and yellowish-hazel eyes. She is handsome, with strong features and deep-set eyes beneath a very strong brow, and high cheekbones. She normally wears her hair in a long thick braid with an obnoxious silk bow fastening the end. Her arms are unusually brown compared to her face, because she spends a lot of time outdoors and often rolls up her sleeves. Her knuckles have the white scars of repeated bursting, and her fingers have broken so many times that they audibly pop and crack when she moves them. Her left canine tooth was replaced with a silver replica after she lost a fight with a boy in her youth. She has a liking for torques on her neck and arms, and wears an inappropriate number of them in court. She used to wear two large silver hoops in her ears, but one of them was torn out, and the lobe of her left ear is now slightly asymmetrical to the right. She no longer wears earrings.

Her name is ostensibly for her hair, but there hasn't been a monarch of the Krajina without black hair for five generations. In truth, it is a reference to her temper. She is neither left nor right handed--she sometimes jokes that she is ambisinister--equally inept with both hands. Her favorite color is a brownish red, and she insists that drapes of the horrid color be hung everwhere. Her favorite food is roasted eel. She is very fond of bleedings, and has herself leeched from the shoulders every night before she goes to sleep.

There you go m8. There is some confusion lore-wise as to which Dahaka is which--Dahaka the Black is the current Queen, Dahaka the Strong was the first Zellish Queen of the Krajina.

Dumb people though. You've had constant threads for ages here on 4chan. What's it been, four years? More? That's all time that's built your brand, and your reputation for being reliable. At least in the long run, but your market cares enough about quality and is old enough that missed deadlines aren't a huge deal.

>muh trajectory
Don't forget to factor in the years of constant threads when calling yourself a space elevator. You'll get bigger than you are now, because having an actual published product that's known in several places will definitely expand the brand, but don't necessarily take the first kickstarter as concrete guarantor of rate.

tl;dr: Employ moderation in the Laser Whale kickstarter too.

So while we wait to get our hands on these army decks, does anybody ahve a good system for quickly creating NPCs, or a repository of dudes people have made, (preferably of the non-murderhobo variety, which is why I'm not just pulling shit from the tournament)

I've been making my NPCs by hand via regular chargen which is mercifully not as time-consuming as some games, but still.

At the same time, there's something to be said about doing them this way. The game has a really gnarly, up-close-and-personal combat system and it feels a lot more meaningful when all the NPCs people are killing have names and you actually worked on them.

On that note, way of the samurai would be a good model for a campaign, minus the goofy shit.

Build a locale, put some competing interests in it, stat all the NPCs, and let the players do whatever they want and roll with it.

So, couple of questions. I have been out of this general for two years and there are three pdf's in the main game folder. Which one should I get? What is the difference between 1.9.9 LATEX and 1.2. They seem to have been uploaded at the same time so I don't have a clue. Also, in what way will the kickstarter be different from what we have here allready. And what will shipping costs to the EU be? And lastly, is there a historical supplement.
>>
>>52002081
1.9.9 LaTeX is the actual current version. 1.2 is what's on the SoS website.

>in what way will the kickstarter be different from what we have here allready.
It'll be an actually finished product, with art and layout and rules tweaks and editing.

>what will shipping costs to the EU be?
It tells you when you go to pledge for any level that includes physical items. You click on the pledge level and there's a dropdown menu that lets you select your country, with the shipping price in brackets after the country name. For instance, it costs 25 USD to ship the hardcover to New Zealand.
>>
>>52002081
>What is the difference between 1.9.9 LATEX and 1.2.
Do not use 1.2. 1.2 is some strange garbage. Opaque says it'll be taken down from their site soon.

1.9.9 LaTeX is 1.9.9 with most - but not all - supplements.

The actual current version is:
normal v1.9.9
grappling oct '15 update
equipment update
combat initiative update

I believe LaTeX does not have the grappling update, but does have the others.

"Legio VII (The 7th Legion) is drawn primarily from Valua, one of Illegon's northern cities that served as a hub of Zellish trade activity thanks to the machinations of Admiral-Prince Draguvic.

The VIIth originally had no number, because it wasn't a Legion at all, instead an auxiliary socii unit, but over time its prestige and effectiveness became such that they were granted the unique privilege of becoming an official Legion, and were given the number VII (an abolished Legion destroyed in war against the Kamens) at their request.

The VIIth is made up almost entirely of Zells, though its upper officers are humans from Ruvia itself. They were once known for their use of weighted throwing-disks called martiodisci that they would fling with great effectiveness instead of javelins or darts. These days they have stubbornly resisted the move to firearms in favor of keeping their traditional weapons, and their skill with these weapons are legendary.

The unit has been nearly destroyed several times, as it is one of the most reliable units in the Ruvian military, and is often employed in rearguard actions to delay enemy progress whatever the cost.

They do have an unfortunate reputation for drink, however, and are never quartered inside city limits except in Valua."

An old lore dump. This is cool. Do these guys basically fling discuses into the enemy? Would that actually be effective?

They might be actual discus, or they might be like chakrams. Particularly if they're fighting pikemen and such, who generally don't wear leg armor. A bunch of discus bouncing along the ground would be really nasty.
>>
>>52006087
>Would that actually be effective?
In the hands of zells, yes.
>>
>>52006428
>>52006135
This is the key. Zells are like fucking Bullseye when they're throwing disk-shaped things. It's an average of like +6 dice for an average Zell. Assuming they have training, the difference between a Zell soldier with one of these and a human soldier with a bow would be the difference between a mook and a murderhobo.
>>
How does Song of Swords handle realism regarding armor? If I swing a sword at a good quality riveted maille, what happens?
>>
>>52006694
Strength + sword damage + extra successes on your attack roll
- Toughness - 6 AVC of mail
If the STR-TOU difference is big enough, or if they get enough successes, they'll cut through.
You can cut through bulletproof plate with a kitchen knife if you get enough BS.
>>
>>52006694
In the default system it is possible, if unlikely, to cut through mail with swords, getting more likely the larger and choppier they are, with your best bet being a nasty armor piercer like the Godenak. There's an alternate system that converts cutting damage to bludgeoning though.
>>
>>52006854
Wound caps when?
STR TOU being replaced with something more palatable when?
>>
>>52006694

Above is true, but practically there's not much chance if you're being conservative. If you pull aggressive/aggressive and win the initiative with a gigantic power attack he can't defend against or something you might do it.

The way the damage system works even a couple points over his mitigation can be fatal when it starts cutting his dice pool and forcing bleed tests.

There's also an optional rule for turning plate penetrations into blunt attacks so you can't just cut through plate.

If you're not doing crazy shit and you're not a murderhobo armor's pretty strong though. Grapple and daggers will get some mileage in plate vs. plate, there's rules for forcing daggers into weak points and such.

This goes a bit beyond your question but here:

Mail armor has the following three armor qualities:

>Hard — Armor with this quality is more resistant to certain weapon Special Qualities (such as Draw), and triggers certain effects with others. Otherwise, it has no effect

>Mail — Armor with this quality consists of interlocking ringlets of metal, and triggers certain effects with other Special Qualities. Otherwise, it has no effect.

>Layer [X] — If worn on the same Hit Location as another armor component with equal to or higher AVC, AVP, and/or AVB, this armor increases the appropriate AV on that area (or multiple, if multiple are higher) by X. Multiple instances of Layer do not combine if multiple armors with Layer overlap. Only the highest Layer value is used. Armor that benefits from the Textile Special Quality does benefit from Layer if its new AV is higher than the AV of the armor with Layer.

Mail is always Layer 1. So it increases the AV (which absorbs damage) by 1 when used with superior armor like say, bulletproof plate.

>Burn Damage is not reduced by TOU, but it is reduced minorly by Armor. Cloth, Leather and other light armors do nothing to reduce burn damage. In fact, they might make it worse (Quilted Armor, if worn without Plate over it, increases the Burning Time of any Fire Damage by 1. Mail, Laminar, Brigandine, etc. reduces Burn Damage by 1. Plate reduces Burn Damage by 2).

>Being electrocuted is not something that happens often in a medieval setting, but it can happen. Electrical Damage is made against TOU, but it is not reduced by any sort of armor, and in fact is increased by metallic armor (mail and scale increases Electrical damage by 1, Laminar and Plate of all varieties increases it by 2).

Some weapon qualities that affect Maille:

Why would the game allow you to become strong enough to rend metal when it's based on hardcore realism though? Seems like there should be a very low strength cap to enforce balance.
>>
>>52007130
>>52006694
>Thin Blade — When making a Coup de Grace or Joint Thrust attack, this weapon’s Thrust TN is decreased by 1. In addition, against mail armor this weapon gains AP Thrust 3. If the weapon has an AP Thrust quality, this replaces that value, it does not add to it.

>Narrow — This weapon gains AP 4 against armor with the Mail special quality.

>Hard Armor without the Mail quality halves Scatter damage.

>AP Swing [X] — Armor Piercing Swing [X]. When making a Swinging attack against a Hit Location with Hard armor protection, this weapon Inflicts X additional damage against any Armor, up to the AV of the Armor.

> AP Thrust [X] — Armor Piercing Thrust [X]. When making a Thrusting attack against a Hit Location with Hard armor protection, this weapon Inflicts X additional damage against any Armor, up to the AV of the Armor.

>Crushing [X] — When this weapon successfully hits with a Swing attack on a Hit Location with any sort of Hard armor protection, reduce all AVs of the armor on that Hit Location by X. This is done after damage is resolved for this attack, and only affects future attacks. Only the highest AV armor on that location is reduced by Crushing. If that armor is reduced to AV 0 in all areas, then Crushing begins to affect lesser Hard armors beneath it.

>Draw [X] — When making a Swinging attack that would inflict cutting damage with this weapon, inflict X additional cutting damage if you roll 3 or more BS. This special rule does not come into play if the target benefits from any sort of Hard armor on the Hit Location being hit.

Because it isn't. It's still fantasy.

2e, then.
>>
>>52007140
>when it's based on hardcore realism
It's still a fantasy game. I mean, you have elves who can shoot lasers from their eyes and people made of rats, ridiculously strong people being able to cut through armour isn't that bad.
>>
>>52007140
At that point though you're talking about like... Literally the strongest human beings alive. There are guys who can crush steel pans in their hands, or bend solid steel bars, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch that if you gave them an weapon they'd be able to cleave through a helmet. I don't think we have the testing on that.
>>

>At that point though you're talking about like... Literally the strongest human beings alive.
6 strength, 3c zweihander, going against 4 toughness, 6 mail, he only needs 2 bs to cut you through the mail.

Not at all. Maille can even stand up to lance strikes and, with padding underneath, only resulting in minor injuries like severe bruising. I was asking as I am curious if this RPG would mechanically accurately represent High Medieval combat, which is often a lengthy smash fest. We know from period literature that knights fighting each other with swords basically had useless weapons, with anecdotes speaking about how swords would be blunted to nothing or even get bent out of shape while maille links were shattered one by one and go pinging off.

Somebody eventually cries uncle or collapses from copious bruising. Lethal wounds however are uncommon as a combination of chivalry and lack of armor-penetrating weapons at the time like picks made the high era the best time to be a knight as mortality rates go.

Typically the way you kill somebody in armor isn't by smashing through it anyway, but by getting them on the ground and shanking them to death. The exception being polearms like bills.

Holy shit thats the worst answer to give. You realize this game is also for historical games right?

Let me answer for you: Strength caps were very controversial and this issue only really applies to edge cases like a kitchen knife.

There is sort of a point about the fantasy thing. You can have superhuman-strong characters if you're not playing a normal human. But it can still happen with enough BS.

A small knife is -1p to thrust. This assumes a small knife really is as shitty as a kitchen knife, but lets go with it. If you have STR 6 (6-1=5 base damage) and your opponent has AV7 and TOU4 (11 soak)....

You'd need 11 bonus successes to get a Level 5 wound.

That means you need to use 21 Combat Pool/dice in your attack if you want a 50% chance of pulling it off. 10-14 is what an "average" combat character would have, with only the most powerful endgame characters having around 30 Combat Pool.

The absolute peak for a human is 10 STR (9 base dmg). That's 13 dice which is still very significant.
>>
>>52007439
>Not at all

Oh I'm sure there's a point at which it's technically possible, but it shouldn't be at any level achievable by non-magical means.

The game still needs some work in this department; solutions to this issue are ongoing.
>>
>>52007439
>knights fighting each other with swords basically had useless weapons, with anecdotes speaking about how swords would be blunted to nothing
Are you sure you're not mixing up "period" with "victorian"?

>Somebody eventually cries uncle or collapses from copious bruising.
This sounds more like a 15th or even 16th century fight than the age of mail.
>>
>>52007456
>Holy shit thats the worst answer to give.
>There is sort of a point about the fantasy thing.
It's the worst answer to give but it's also correct. How about that.
>>
>>52007401

That's mail though. A guy in full plate (8+1 for layer) would take a level 1 wound at 5BS, which is a long shot against an equal opponent who's defending himself.

I'm probably gonna be playing exclusively historical games with this, so I don't expect to see a lot of crazy shit. If I do, I'll houserule it.

>>52002494
It's radical, dude. But seriously, are there any repositories or places where I can find character sheets for various generic shit, or am I gonna be making them myself?
>>
>>52007576
>That's mail though

Yeah but a zweihander shouldn't be able to penetrate mail with a decent swing by a man of somewhat above average strength.
>>
>>52007538
Don't just take one line and ignore the rest. It's wrong because the person still isn't talking about superhuman elves.

It's wrong because a historical campaign isn't going to account for characters with 13 STR since humans can't have that much. This is meant to be a historical and fantasy RPG with realistic combat.
>>
>>52007439

If you play a lower power campaign and use your DM powers to mitigate weird corner cases and shit, and you use the blunt-penetration rule, yes, you can get some pretty realistic medieval armored combat.

>Maille can even stand up to lance strikes and, with padding underneath, only resulting in minor injuries like severe bruising

In other words, a reasonable result if you're using the blunt penetration rule.

All this discussion is making me wonder if I'm confused about something though.

BS on an attack is your total successes minus the enemy's successes on his defense attempt right? Like if I roll 8 dice and succeed 6, and his parry is 8 dice and succeeds 4 I only get two BS?

If that's the case then a lot of these damage calculations are assuming the guy isn't defending himself

Well for one there's 13th century tournaments, which used blunted lances against maille. Poems like Frauendienst. Obviously these lances were likely weaker, but mentions of shit like hitting the neck is passed off as common with no horrific injuries sustained at all. Obviously the lances were likely weaker than war-ones, but you've still got a solid wood lance with a metal tip slamming into your neck at twenty miles per hour with the mass of a mounted rider and just shaking that hit off without permanent injury or horrid bruising.

Then we have accounts, such as this one from the reconquest from a Muslim warrior who struck a frank with his lance in a battle. Nothing happened.

>He bent sideways so much that his head reached his stirrup, his shield and lance fell off his hand, and his helmet off his head...he then resumed his position, erect in the saddle. Having had linked mail under his tunic, my lance did not wound him.98

However the quality of maille also varies wildly, and thus the poor do not have as good of armor, or maybe an armorer cheated them. So it sometimes fails in the same vein of events.

>...the horseman who struck Philip the knight, for verily the Franks have all been astounded on account of that blow which pierced two layers of links [back and front] in the knight's coat of mail and did not kill him.101

This guy got impaled completely by a lance, so he probably was wearing something shitty. Maille really ought to come in tiers of quality, munition and such, but expensive suits worn by the upper class should be some incredibly good shit that's not really in danger from swords, spears, or even one-handed axes. Mauls, large axes, and picks are how you get through maille. William Marshal makes reference of how a guisarme hooked his leg and tore his cuisse like fabric (which is an interesting thing to note, because of its structure maille behaves most like a fabric than other metal armors).
>>
>>52007713
>BS on an attack is your total successes minus the enemy's successes on his defense attempt right? Like if I roll 8 dice and succeed 6, and his parry is 8 dice and succeeds 4 I only get two BS?

Yes.

With AVP4 and TOU4 you have 8 damage soak. STR10 and -1p is 9 base damage. So you need four bonus successes, which requires at least 7 dice.

>If that's the case then a lot of these damage calculations are assuming the guy isn't defending himself

That's a bit more complicated to figure out, but yes.
>>
>>52007742
>blunted
Having a big round ball instead of a sharp tip makes a pretty big fucking difference in your ability to pierce things. That won't even pierce butted mail.
>>
>>52007753

What I'm getting at is a lot of these things are even less likely than the calculations suggest. Unless you're hitting him with your full dice pool vs nothing, you're probably not going to kill him through a mail coat.

And if you're hitting him with your full dice pool vs nothing you're probably pulling red/red, which is just as likely to bite you in the ass.
>>
>>52007783
It however is still a heavy object being shoved into the throat of the enemy yet deals no damage to speak of.
>>
>>52007798
That's not because of the mail. Mail isn't rigid.

4 being average was from when at 18 PCP with 3 in every slot you could buy exactly 4 in every stat

Marketing suggestion: Someone who can speak with a bit of authority on it should make a thread about the tournament on /r/RPG. As long as the kickstarter isn't mentioned in the thread, it won't break their rule on not having more than one thread per kickstarter, especially if whoever makes it isn't (and avoids appearing to be) one of the Opaque boys, but it'll still draw attention to the product and people who go looking for more info will find the kickstarter.

Which should I use if I'm running for a group of newbs? Ballad or SoS? Since they're new I want to keep the amount of house rules or flipping between Ballad and SoS to a minimum. Firearms would be mid to late 19th century, maybe pushing to early 20th century.

I just assign them a CP number, then their stats are depending on that. Assuming 4 is the human average, then a seasoned soldier with 12 cp would perhaps have more strength, agility and wit.

Then you just pick some armor and weapons from the books, maybe some talents but you'll reach the point where you know talents instinctively and you can improvise easily.

It is one of the reasons why I like SoS. Bullshitting and improvising your encounters is a pretty solid science in here.
