>claims to be an expert on the game and rules
>isn't any fun to play with
Is there no greater irony?
Someone should write down all the unwritten rules of having fun. Problem solved.
>claims to be an expert on the game and rules
>isn't any fun to play with
You mean 2hu?

It's almost like the game you're playing isn't fun ;^)
>be expert on the rules
>DM is using a rule wrong
>don't say anything because it benefits the party

We have a guy in my wargaming group who:
>Is an absolutely amazing player. Heads off to tournaments and is apparently an unofficial top 20 in world player
>Requires handicaps of some sort to make the game competitive with the rest of us.
>Still can't remember a bunch of the rules, and just seems to shrug it off when he doesn't remember, and then look it up, only to forget about it a week later.
I'm not mad, but it is kind of weird.

He's making you feel better by pretending to not be a wargaming savant and just a weird guy with a head for strategy

There's no contradiction there dingus

Fun is largely a state of mind. Remember, people play a game of shooting themselves in the head for fun, and the only difference between it and pure suicide is removing five of the six bullets.
