I kind of wonder, are there any systems that could do atelier well, more specifically than just having magic item and potion crafting? Or even the atelier Iris way, where someone just sits back and does all the useful mundane things while others are combat/gathering drones. The meme exists because Blue Rose is a game that specifically caters to how women roleplay and react, and the kinds of games they enjoy, as opposed to the kinds of games men enjoy.

It's ot nearly as pretentious as people say it is, but it is definitely aimed at social interaction>combat interaction and the kind of interactions that women enjoy as opposed to how men think they should be played out.

So, yes, it is liberal in the sense that it isn't combat- and mechanics-centric, but it isn't pretentious in the sense that it thinks of itself as an enlightened game system. It's just a game system fixated on a specific player base, much like JRPGs are focused on enforced cooperation and corruption-inducing power mechanics - a result of the type of player, not the game system being pretentious.
