has any of you ever tried playing warhammer/wargames digitally? If so, how so and with what?
Looks like this thread isn't getting any love.
I can't really contribute much at all, I can only say this: I'd love for a way to play Hero Quest or Space Crusade on-line that looked somewhat like your picture.

Completely possible to play with Tabletop Simulator. And its fun!

Well i do think heroquest has a couple copies on tabletop sim however you need to be quick since GW is pretty fast on the banhammer. Also I just made this thread so it might explain why its not getting any love. just needs some time.
I can't say I've ever done wargaming with it, but last night me and my friends played a game of Warhammer Quest in it, worked perfectly, and we are excited to start exploring some 40k action.
We all live far apart now, and our armies are collecting dust, so this would be a great way to still get to play.
I regularly play Malifaux with Vassal. It helps that they even list the module on the official Wyrd website.
It generally works fine as the game doesn't use TLoS or anything and isn't too vertical.

but that game isn't free so its not really worth /tg/'s attention

I tried using VASSAL and the 40k mod but it just befuddled me.

After mucking about with Vassal for few years I gladly paid 20€ for TTS. Playing 40k is so much more fun with it when you get hang of it and start to play faster.
TTS is the best way to play 40k online. I just wish other wargames had more support.

Oh? I'll have to look into that. Thanks anons!

Mh, wonder if it can be done with this then.

I've played some regular board-games in table-top simulator (a fest for Odin and such games), and it worked great. With wargames I'm not completely sure. If there are a lot of small components, like soldiers walking around, it will take much longer time than it would IRL. If that is not an issue , then TTS is great. Also, you can save in it, which is fucking great imo if you want to play long games but have a job and other real life BS.
Anon who is considering buying table top simulator here, how easy is it to get a game? Do you need to know people or is there like a lobby or something?

There is matchmaking so you can just make a room and wait or invite people. dunno how many 40k players there is however.
>>51917897
Thanks, good to know.
roll20 does a decent enough job
>>51917227
but why, the internet has proven with porn and AAA games that the best is free
>>51918279
You can just pirate TTS and play it with friends rather than with random people then.
>>51917786
yeah but they'll just flip the table or throw shit around, you have to have friends.

There was a whole thing with BattleBox3d for a while. Good free tool, but it lacks the database of models that TTS has to really make it worthwhile.
