This is the idea: A small but growing minority develops psionic powers. They also discover a dimension, where spirits-like beings live. Some friendly, some hostile. It is possible to sign a pact with the spirits for power. What the spirits want in return varies greatly.
How would the US and Canada and its citizens react to it?
