Would writing and selling D&D adventures on DriveThruRPG be a decent way to make money on the side? Does anyone even play them?
>>
I wouldn't expect a whole lot. You could maybe make a bit of petty cash, but unless your stuff is really fucking good then I wouldn't expect much.

If I made 50 dollars ever, I'd be happy.

My question is: what game should I write it for? I know GURPS, Savage Worlds, and D&D 3e through 5e the best. Dunno what people play. Or are system-agnostic adventures okay? Usually I avoid them because they require extra prep work in the case of NPCs they introduce.

You could. You could also sell directly through roll20.

I don't know what the exact salesfigures are so I can't tell you but obviously someone buys them to some degree, otherwise nobody would keep making them.

Personally I don't buy anything unless I love it, but perhaps the barrier of purchase is lower for other people.

>system-agnostic adventures okay?

Well, if it's prepared for a particular genre, without actual stats, but decent descriptions that's still ok.

If you have decent art, decent maps, decent plots, with decent characters, then that still trumps having premade npc and monster blocks because writing up stats or even copy pasting slightly modified stats from something else is very very simple.

Most GMs worth their salt already have plenty of statblocks prepared anyway in case things go in an unexpected direction. They also still have to modify completely prepared modules to make them fit in their setting, or to adjust things for their players. There is no such thing as zero prep.

5E is by far the most popular now.

I make about 25-50 bucks a month pumping out Dungeon World playbooks. It's not a lot of money in the long run, but given that it's a pretty painless process (basically just a weekend of drafting up the class + doing artwork) and it pays for my monthly Humble Bundle subscription I really can't complain.

5e is your best bet, on DM's guild. You're going to get the most sales that way.

Wait, really? There's new DW content?

If I'm not a big DW fan, how hard would it be to use with another system, perhaps a different AW hack?
>>
>>51860276
Make it for 5e with a few notes on how to run them for other games.
Don't expect many buyers.

What are you on about now? I can make money with D&D stuff?
>>
>>51864119
Not a hell of a lot. But yes.

People make some cash through GMs Guild for 5e, and others make some cash through becoming indie 3rd party publishers for of and 5e on dtrpg.

GMs Guild is easier.

Do you have any advice?

I only like some less common systems so I feel like I'm going to need all the help I could get.
