How would you translate skaven into 40k as tastefuly as possible

Xenos species that worships their own dark god the Horned Rat that lives in the warp or some other dimension.

They have a very steam punk design to clash with the baroque Imperium and 1950's Mechanicus. Translating their tactics aren't too hard, they'd probably play like the Imperial Guard mixed with Orky randomness. Lots of FUN.

That said..

Skaven could be an experiment from the dark age of technology where some mutated rats were given the NIMH treatment and took over the facility and fleeing for their lives to the furthest reaches of the galaxy. After colonizing their first planet they adopted a "survive at any cost" worldview. now, several millenium later they have returned from their hiding places ready to retake their galax and fill it with skaven.

Also their collective assholery/paranoia spawns them their own horned rat deity/chaos god.

Duh, Gene Stealers from a ratling colony called "Skavvos", whose sun forced people to live underground where they ended up seriously warped by strange radations from an ancient Necron device that lay dormant underground until discovered by Gene Stealer cult. Unknowingly at first, this device's effects upon the Gene Stealers disrupted any hold the Tyranid Hive mind might have had on them or their offspring, leaving only human ambition, the nid urge to consume and overwhelm outsiders and direct filial loyalty within the various "Great Famlies" that emerged to shape the society that eventually dominated the entirety of Skavoss.

Eventually psykers Heritechs among the Families discovered they could manipulate the Necron Device to allow travel between worlds, space hulks and vast Commorrah-esque structures hidden inside the webways, under the surface of planets or even within some space hulks.

In these vast redoubts the Skaavosian Patriarchy compete amongst themselves for breeding rights, space and resources that eventually spill over into combined "marches" upon the other species of the milky way or in defense of Skaavosian Tunnel-Colonies that other races dare encrouch upon.

Entire table top army is a single titan model. With only one really tricky to paint pattern and if you don't do it right you can't use it in official tournaments (but you can pay another £5000 on top of the cost of hte model to have it come pre-painted)
