That cab looks cool, wedged in the middle there. Fuck 2 crew in the front, fuck visibility, but it looks neat
What one South African company does with Hinds is pretty neat - I think they were used by PMC forced, and they have a home-grown chopper similar to it too (Denel Rooivalk) - just a shame there's so few
Also there's the Marauder 4x4 and anti-carjacking flamethrowers, because driving in SA is a bit... fraught. And clearly cyberpunk af.

The one with the funky name that looks like a hind but isn't one is SA, not sure about the various super-hinds - I know there's at least 1 SA company that has done though, and they've been used by PMCs, but as you say a lot of people mod hinds

>>51673644
Shame it didn't go so well - mind you, I'd guess a lot of the people who wanted to buy it weren't the sort the US wanted to sell to.
The A10 is great for the design concept of:
>Hey check out this gun - it's as big as a VW beetle and eats tanks
>I want to make this gun fly
>Doesn't fit on any current airframe? I'll build one around it.
>And make that airframe ludicrously tough

An idea whose time has come again. The US military is looking into compound aircraft again for longer range and more fuel efficiency.
Someone sold them on 'green' policies as 'if you use less oil you don't have to haul as much of it to a combat zone, and don't have to spend so much fuel hauling fuel'.

Are those two rotors on the tail?
>>51663969
All I can think about is the two with jet engines starting up and immediately flipping into the ground.
>>51677821
One tail rotor, one pusher prop. It's a compound aircraft, designed to unload the rotor with wings and a propeller at high speeds.

I've been on top of that specific truck in your picture, anon. Wasn't expecting to see that here, haha.
>>51678429
True, but the original Russian plan of using them for hit and run against ships fell through as it became faster and easier to use satellites for tracking stuff wheher it was on radar or not and send the info to people who could use it. Before that they could rush toward targets, fire missiles or torpedos and be gone before a gun was even trained on them. Only in firing range for a few seconds iirc. That would be a scary situation if it had actually gotten to happen.

In their case, it's more 'we have no money to replace this stopgap measure'.
> Jet engines are too thirsty
> Turboprops used instead
> Four fucking huge engines would require props that'd push the wings way too high
> So you use contra-rotating props
> Props still so big and fast that the tips go supersonic
> Anti-submarine aircraft appears on sonar miles away, underwater
> Strategic bomber gives intercepting fighter pilots hearing damage
> Crews permanently deaf
> Ground crew permanently deaf
>>51680124
Recently started happening. They got rid of most of the original B-52s with SALT treaties and the like. Chopped the wings and tail off with a guillotine, and left them out in the open for long enough for Soviet satellites to see it, then scrapped for parts. Traded the shitton of obsolete B-52 early models for old and obsolete Soviet SSM launchers being taken out of service.
The Scorpion King is truly a thing of beauty.
