Well I really like the look of pic related on the OP post. I'm wondering if theres a huge difference between the normal Chaos Codex and The Daemonkin one. They both have similar units it seems.

Ideally I want an army that can shoot decently enough but also get stuck in real hard when its time to assault.

If you doing a khorne army just play World Eaters CSM. It'll serve you better. Unless you love the whole daemon thing if so then ally daemons, its better than Daemonkin anyways.

Chaos Daemons goes like this :
Magic with no damage (tzeentch)
HP with no speed (nurgle)
Damage with no magic (khorne)
Speed with no HP (slaanesh)

So basically Just use CSM codex and ally daemons to fill out the other roles then.

Yeah but pick up the Traitor Legion Supplment. Pick one of the 9 Chaos Legions to play and get buffs that make you not suck. Most of the rules are pretty good no matter what legion you play(except thousand sons)
