What are some more obscure races that are rarely ever used in fantasy settings?

Anthropomorphic animals, outside the more common varieties such as cats or wolves.

For example, I had my party fight some frog-people this week. They're rarely seen, and can fit into a variety of settings - just base them on different species of frog for different areas.
>>
Aboleth, apparently.
My party of five, four veterans of gaming, had never heard of the things before last week.

Borrowers or other extremely small people that live hidden from normal humans.

Ones you have jet to come up with.

No big deal. Furries are the absolute laziest race a DM can introduce. Frankly, I'd rather take straight up talking animals than that.

hobgoblins.
githyanki.
both are awesome, but theyre rarely used and basically never played

Boy do I have a story for you!
>>

You know I actually merged those two into one race. Gith are hard to fit into a setting that isn't big on plane-hopping or mindflayers. I'd say hobs get a fair bit of show though.
>>

even without a fo us on planehopping most d&d includes astral, ethereal, and shadow planes. they can easily fit in on the ethereal instead if astral.

i dont run them very similarly though. the githyanki i run like raiders.

the hobgoblins i run like a militant selective-breeding rome+china.
>>
You can usually find plenty just looking through older splat books, and finding things that were forgotten or just not popular enough to port over.

ex. Furchin, nomadic halflings from tundra regions. From a 2e splat book. Can't even find a picture of them
>>
>>51391652
Most d&d campaigns I've been in don't really have planar shenanigans to begin with. Sure the other planes exist, but it's fairly high level until you actually start interacting with them
>the githyanki i run like raiders.
Man, 90% of the monster races are raiders.
Hobgoblins are raiders. Might as well blend the eastern themes and make them mongol ruled china

Past the yiff barrier, there's a bunch on deviantart. A few are even cool.
