I dont see how a wyvern is conparable to a Colossal Squig or more Survivable.
They wont shoot you with soft slingers and let you reroll your save, they will deal with it with mortal wounds and will kill the nake ofcs with the weight of fire, not the other way around.
Bad news is that 2 Thundertusk sneezing in the general direction if your Wyvern means he kills your wyvern without rolling a. single. dice.
If anything 11wounds in the age of Mortal wounds isnt enough without some sort of 4+ invulnerable like Dreadmaw or Nurgle Toad

So I've assembled first box of Tzaangors (of 2 that I've bought)

how do I do another box to make any kind of useful combination?

I started using space marines as sigmarines in AoS but everyone is complaining about it. But I can hardly see the difference really. Based correctly.

I dont want to buy more models. I think they are just annoyed I am winning. Would anyone care if I used Space marines as Sigmarines? I need to tell them to stop being women about it.

why are the crossbow's limbs placed vertically? wouldn't the string between them be useless with the magazine in the way?

it just has to look cool, it doesnt have to make sense

The better question is why are the arms of the crossbows on the aiming, resting, and reloading models all in the same position?

It's almost like they aren't actually crossbows, but the models needed a visual cue to make them distinctly NOT guns.

None of us are really arguing the point that mechanically these things are absolutely retarded. Just spouting trivia as our kind are wont to do.

The piece the reloading guy is holding looks like it's just a cap. So they have to pull off the cap, manually load the bolts, and then recap it. Just about the least efficient design ever.

Good point about the mortal wounds. My logic was that Mathhammer (based on averages, since the Colossal Squig is is a nightmare of random variables) puts the squig .2 wounds per turn above the Warboss on Wyvern.

So, I was talking to the local redshirt today about the new stormcast stuff.
Vanguard. Same statwheel as a Liberator. Melee sits between Liberators and Judicators at A2 4+/4+, but instead of the save or hit reroll options they get a short-ranged crossbow. Can make a full advance in your first hero phase. Battleline.
Gryph-hounds stay exactly the way they are except for a unit leader of sorts.
Gryph-chargers are semi-light cavalry Vanguards riding demi-gryphs.
Battletome contains ways to make Prosecutors and Dracothian Guard Battleline.
Lightning Strike is *not* the allegiance ability; instead both regular stormcast and chamber extremis get their own allegiance abilities.

It's probably all made up or straight-up a lie, but I figure I may as well post it.

I've been working on Stormcast for a Path to Glory campaign.

I have an urge to go back to my Wanderers, though, but I just don't have the tolerance for a high model count army right now.
>>
>>51393036
Thinking of Starting an Aelf "Griffon" army with a mix of Wanderer's and Swifthawk agents.

Leaders
Glade Lord on Great Stag (100)
- Bow of Loren
Spellweaver on Purebred Steed (120)
Spellweaver on Purebred Steed (120)
High Warden (220)
- General

Battleline
8 x Glade Riders (200)
8 x Glade Riders (200)
10 x Silver Helms (280)

Units
3 x Warhawk Riders (120)
1 x Warhawk Riders (40)
1 x White Lion Chariots (120)
1 x White Lion Chariots (120)
1 x Chariots (80)

Behemoths
Flamespyre Phoenix (280)

Total: 2000/2000

Glide riders to bulk out the force with Spellweavers to support.

Silver Helms for a decent centre unit

Lion Chariots for hardhitting, Pheonix for Behemoth

Hawkriders for Harriers, again supported by Spellweavers.

It's a spit up between the Lord on Stag and the Griffin general.

Can someone show me if there is any lack of synergy here.
>>
>>51393338
Your list has a lot of units that don't do much. The heroes are at risk of being sniped or sitting around and doing nothing due to the rule of one.

Due to an FAQ ruling on rebirth effects, Frostheart is better than Flamespyre.

The High warden doesn't do much either. Why not just run the Swifthawk Agents battalion and toss in some Skywardens if you want a casual list with some punch? Convert the deer riders into Reavers if you like their models or something.

If you like Gryphons, why not wait for the glistening Gryph-hound release? Swifthawks with a Vanguard battle line and a Guardians of the Dawnspire battalion and a Phoenix or two sounds actually interesting.

>>
>>51393162
Speaking of which, how do they stack up? I'm sure they don't do well against "top tier" armies like Seraphon and Sylvaneth, but how about aside from that.

I tried playing a small army of them a year ago and got destroyed in games against Brides of Khaine and Stormcast. I figure it's because I didn't take full advantage of their shooting spam, though, particularly with the Glade Guard. Their primary tactic seems to center on alpha striking and shooting the enemy as much as possible, before being forced into melee with the Rangers and Eternal Guard.

All of that went out of the window around 8 months ago with General's Handbook release. Most people play with points more or less, and I've never seen anyone mix Grand Alliances.

The IRL stuff all got taken out, and what remains is likely to be removed anyway. It's FAQed you don't need to do it.

The Thaumaturge is strong but points heavy and really needs a fair amount of the list built around him to avoid wasting him and the points you spent on him.

Also the above list was literally just an attempt to see if I could fit in one of the 'Warscroll Battalions inside a Warscroll Battalion' things at 2000pts, not a serious list.

You know who is REALLY experienced with the art of Death?

These all new Stormcount Eternals. Forged only from the bravest vampires, these unundead soldiers will fill the world with the light of Sigmar, and bring ORDER back to the Realm of Death.

I think the problem with Death is that they took the Vampire Counts range and broke it into so many factions that each doesn't have a lot. For FEC they pretty much had to create heroes and a new unit out of all ready existing kits.

Seems like all they could really do at this point is give the Grand Alliance book the battletome treatment.
>>
>>51390151
imo, quite good and worth the low price.
>>
So how does this look for a Wanderer's Wild Hunt Army?

Leaders
Orion, King in the Woods (380)
- General
Spellweaver on Purebred Steed (120)
Glade Lord on Great Stag (100)
- Normal
Spellweaver on Purebred Steed (120)

Battleline
8 x Glade Riders (200)
8 x Glade Riders (200)
8 x Glade Riders (200)

Units
10 x Wild Riders (280)
5 x Sisters of the Thorn (220)
3 x Warhawk Riders (120)
1 x Great Eagles (60)

Gf currently has Sylvaneth and we plan to play doubles at the local and I wanted to do a thematic list.

>>51397172
>The Thaumaturge is strong but points heavy and really needs a fair amount of the list built around him to avoid wasting him and the points you spent on him.
How would one build a list around him? He seems like a fairly solid support hero to run alongside Tzaangors.
>>
>>51397735
All the list building he needs is a pile of 20+ Tzaangors to escort. That's it.
>>
>>51397735
Exactly what you mentioned, run him with a Tzaangor coven and a Shaman, but properly tooled up that's a fair few points.

>>51397795
I didn't say you have to build a whole list around him, just that you can't whack him into a list without thinking. 20 Tzaangors costs 360pts in one go, not chump change.

With all these traces, releases, novels etc - what do you think we will see in next starter set? Maybe Nurgle mortals vs Sylvaneth?

Keep the Sisters of the Thorn near her Dryads to make them nasty.
>>

Some advice.

Do the Order battletome and the PDF online Wild riders overide the Wild riders in the Wood Elves PDF?
>>
>>51397694
I think you will struggle to get 10 Wild Riders into combat, so 2 units of 5 will likely be better, since you can spread them out easier.
>>
>>51397901
We "kind of" had a second starter set. For all intents and purposes SoD is a starter set (and does the job better for AoS that it did for WHFB... I mean, the high elf list was illegal for all intents and purposes, just to begin with).
>>
So at the moment what do we consider the most OP and UP things in AoS?
>>
>>51398045
Yeah, I know. But still, it's just look-like-starter set, without range rulers, dice, book etc. In my opinion they will release a next set like this but maybe with other armies - maybe with sought-after ones to sell even more models or with unpopular ones to make them cheaper and remove some of them from warehouses

Order is getting a third Stormcast Battletome, it got new Sylvaneth, Fyreslayers and repacked Seraphon.
Chaos got Bloodbound, Tzeentch, Everchosen and repacked Pestilens.
Destruction got Ironjawz and repacked Savage Orcs and Ogres.
Death got repacked Flesh-Eaters and no new models whatsoever.

>>51396817
Oh ok well that doesnt' sound too bad. What I mean by grand alliance/racemixing is just running like, Dark Elves with Stormcasts and Duardin or w/e they're called.

I'm interested in finally jumping from lorefaggin' to actually playing but theres just some reservations I've had about the game despite how much I like Warhammer Fantasy, mostly with TW:W and Age of Reckoning.

>>51398339
Yes, but with some swaps for the arms/hands
>>
>>51398304
I personally jumped from 6E to AoS and haven't looked back.

The race mixing is actually nice, it means you can really have 'your guys'. I had a beastman/daemon/chaos army in 6th, which was illegal until AoS, and that made me very happy. It makes sense lorewise, and most people will field a coherent force. There's a lot of synergy between fielding units of the same type, and if you want to break that, then the player generally has some cool fluff for it. The only 'cheese' ones are Stormcast/Seraphon mixes and Tzeentch/Skaven mixes.

Honestly it's best to just give it a go, if you have a local GW go and ask for a demonstration game, set up an escalation league, play with friends. You can't tell if you like it until you play it.

It's easy to learn, hard to master, and lots of cool combos and synergies in lists which is nice. What were you thinking of playing?

FWIW your first game will end up as a pile-up in the middle, this isn't representative of high level play. You need to get used to manouvering and planning charges.

We've been playing 1000 for a while, and it's nice. You can have fluffy lists that work, space for a cool unit or two, and all the cheese is avoided.

What about you guys?
>>
>>51398566

The treepeople, Dark Elves, and Tzeentch monsters all seem pretty neat, at least aesthetically. Most daemons look pretty cool as do beastmen.
>>
>>51399138
1000 pts Vanguard. I don't have a lot of money so running a casual pocket lists is fun and wallet-friendly. Now I'm playing with Rats from SoD but thinking about Nurgle Daemons or Ironjawz or Dorfs if they receive their own SC box
>>
>>51399148
Tree People are a pretty solid choice, the models are cool too, and Order is a really good grand alliance. Dark Elves are a bit neglected at the moment, so might not be a good time to invest in those.

Tzeentch just got a fantastic new release, and you can't really go wrong. I've been a Tzeentch guy for a while, and I'm working through Tzaangors and Silver Tower right now!

Generally, unless you're going for tournaments, just get models you like. It's painful to paint stuff you can't get into. I love Chaos Knights, so my army is basically Knights + Daemons + Beastmen. I'm rounding it off with a new Lord of Change, a Gaunt Summoner and some Tzaangors.
>>
>>51399205
> Ironjaws
4 units in an ironfist, plus a war chanter and megaboss. 1000 points on the nose, can be as few as 14 models (I run two 10 Ork Hardboy mobs and a 10 Brute murder squad, but since all the units cost the same, go crazy), and can be fairly strong to boot.
Ironjawz models also rock as an added bonus.

Well, that's kinda why they need more battletomes; there's not a lot to distinctify the subfactions within Death, and a battletome would help give them (such as, say, Soulblight vs Deathrattle) more distinction. All they currently have is the Grand Alliance: Death book and Flesh-Eater Courts, the former only summarizing the subfactions, whereas the latter is generally regarded as well-fluffed and helps give the ghouls more personality.

Same thing can be done for Soulblight, Deathrattle, Nighthaunt, whatever. Of course, they also need new models, either to replace the aging line, or to buff out their lists and give them more meat. Soulblight can get some commoners aspiring to become vampires, for example.

K, confused.

If an ability kills an opponent by turning it into a chaos spawn, or Tzaangors or Horrors, is that a summoning power?
>>
>>51401009
If it creates a new unit, or makes a current unit go above the number it was originally, yes. You need to use reserve points for this.

If it simply replenishes dead models in a unit, no higher than when it began, then no.

So a Tzaangor Shaman can basically be used to heal a unit of Tzaangors.

That seems... Awkward.

Why even include say, an ability to turn people you kill into chaos spawn in a new Battletome then?

Do any of you anons tend to feel drawn towards the "underdog" factions in wargames? Be it because they're seldom played in your area, or they rarely get the spotlight from their creator?

Like, for me when it comes to AoS, I have an affinity for Wanderers and Death. I'm currently working on a Stormcast army, but it's primarily because of their low model count and simpler painting requirements (I've gotten kinda burned out on building/painting), and although I do like the Stormcast in the lore, they don't appeal to me as much as the other two.

What little lore the Wanderers have to me is kinda charming, and they have a great model range. I do look forward to them hopefully getting a battletome some day, though, because I would like that lore expanded on, and give them a little more meat on the table.

As for Death, my interest does largely derive from them being somewhat ignored and underplayed (both in my area, and in general), but I would really enjoy seeing a Soulblight or Deathrattle battletome for the same reasons as Wanderers.

Hell, in 40k, my armies are Dark Eldar and Sisters/Inquisition.

I think it at least partly comes from the fact that it allows me to be a more diverse opponent for the people I play against, so it isn't always Stormcast vs Stormcast or something. That, and I like to be a snowflake.

I like them but you only ever want one unit of six. More and you're wasting points, while a unit of three doesn't benefit from the banner as much. It's absolutely brutal when you get three back for free.

With all of the synergy available to khorne, they're not quite as good as other options once buffed, but if you're looking for a fast unit that can do alright on the other side of the board from everything else then they're pretty good.

I've heard Skullcrushers are straight up better but only just started adding Bloodbound so I haven't looked into it too much.

>>
>>51402704
Not him but man, it's 18", all the ogre has to do is kill the big boss on a 2+ and theres is no kunning rukk anymore.

What do you think is the easiest to do, a 2+ or having 40 orruk all ultra close to annilation in front of 3 sotrmhorn, killing 1 and hoping to have the next turn ?

Also if it in an environment where you can't refuse the game (tournament) the kunning rukk will loose against a LOT of list while this one only has few counters, so chances are the Kunning rukk guy will be eliminated before you even play him
>>
>>51402754

Why is the faster Stonehorn ever in range of the Orruks ?
I mean he can sit in the back until he set up the charge he can reroll anyway and rekt the 40 orruks.

I know it's fun to point out things like that, but you make it like dodging 4 megabeast and 30 2hp orruks is SOOOOO easy when a thundertusk chasing your savage big boss has literally no chance to ever land a hit on him
>>
>>51402754

40 arrowboys behind a fodder wall of savage orruk would have more than enough time to deal with stonehorns?

The boss is never even remotely close to a stonehorn he's safely behind the arrowboys and thus behind regular savage orruks. I've seen Archaon's and Warbosses on Maw krusha's get either instagibbed or just flat out crippled in one round of shooting let alone two rounds a turn to these things.

Gitmob can be nasty with their war machines and wolves
Moonclan has thes squigs. Cave squigs deal mortal wounds when they flee, manglers can be decent distractions, and colossal squigs are nasty pieces of work

hard to say for sure, the thoroughness of it might vary from court to court, some might need more effort reinforce their delusions like wearing ragged clothing and rusty weapons and collecting garbage to recreate their royal garbs, blessed weapons, and spoils of noble crusades, while others are in such a dream like state as for their bodies to be effectively on autopilot while they imagine any manner of happy narrative, then some might flit from moment to moment in a more disjointed dream that one cant ever seem to question.

I like to imagine the guy on the zombie dragon thinks he's riding a noble pegasus, the men on the ground think their very claws are sacred weapons of any stripe that tickles their fancy

Just talked to the FLGS owner; there were none of my three ordered boxes of Tzaangors in his delivery for this week.
At least the shaman, the two boxes of skyfires/enlightened and the six screamers were delivered. I guess that means I have an additional week to convert the Tzaangors from Silver Tower, the Enlightened spears and the Screamers into Enlightened...
Still, that's kind of annoying.

Apart from a price increase, probably not. GHB does not actually change any warscrolls.

Yes, a hefty point increase.

Nobody is happy of point&click nature of the Stornhorns/Thundertusks in tournaments.
It's too easy and boring, and even GW knows that.

20 unit size minimum (if you want to be effective) total of 8 2h, 4 mutants, 1 banner, 1 horn, and 6 shields (to eat wounds.)

crazy amounts of attacks, bonus to hit and wound(?), and pile-in in the hero phase... barf.

SQUIGS
Max out yer squigs

Mangler squigs for distraction carnifex duty
Cave squigs for dealing good damage in combat and better damage when they flee (make sure to keep the squigherders close)
Squig Hoppers never, considering their mediocrity

Apart from that, never use only 1 Shaman and give your warboss a pet squig.

The obvious counter here is the huge cost associated with designing, sculpting and having tooling made for new plastics, while Fineshit exists at all because of the minimal cost in taking metal sculpts and casting them in resin.

I don't think slaanesh is getting squatted completely, I do think it is going to get a severe rebrand probably with elves so that it's friendlier to the parents of young players, who ultimately control the pursestrings.

stop spreading your personal fan fiction like it was actual lore. Obviously you didn't even read the end times books.

Alarielle was with the high elven phoenix king Finubar the seafarer I believe. Prior to the End Times it was only implied that Tyrion and Alarielle bumped uglies but it was confirmed during it. Finubar also died during the event.

I don't think it's ever been confirmed that Malekith fugg'd his mom, but he did get to marry Alarielle in a political marriage during the end times.

Morathi is doing Sigmar-knows-what to Sigmar-knows-who, however, but she's probably around.

Actual end times fluff:
Malekith unites the entire Elves race (high dark and wood) and becomes the Phoenix King. Alarielle gets married to Malekith and they proceed to prepare the elves for the final battle. Tyrion flips out that his ex lover (alarielle) broke up with him and flips out that Malekith is the true phoenix king. Tyrion pulls the sword of Khaine (widow maker) from the isle of the dead and proceeds to try to screw up Alarielle and Malekiths efforts to save the Elves from the end times. After a lot of effort and sacrifice Tryion is put down like a feral dog with the help of Alith Anar (shadow king). Teclis later brings Tryrion back from the dead with magic and for reasons that make no sense to anyone Malekith allows Tyrion to live (guesse he is trying to be a good phoenix king). Malekith is instrumental in the efforts to stop Archaeon from ending the world and would have been successful if not for Manfred (the vampire) stabbing Teclis for no conceivable reason and disrupting the magic channeling that was working to save the world. Malekith gets his legs crushed by a rock and Alarielle reveals she is a cheating whore because she doesn't help him and instead hold Tyrions hand while they get swallowed by the warp rift that consumes the world. Malekith, Teclis, Nagash, and the rest of the Incarnates get swallowed by the warp rift that consumes the world along with Archaeon.

There you go, end times in a nut shell.

he didn't. His mom is a bitch and he doesn't like her but she is him mom and he allows her to exist because he isn't into killing his mother. Morathi fancies herself a puppet master but Malekith keeps her on a short leash because she is arguably the most powerful sorceress alive and she does want her son to rule the world.

Her being with the Phoenix king was an entirely political thing. It is tradition that the Everqueen and King have a child (well, technically a child is born, since it doesn't even have to be HIS) within the first few years of their reign.

Afterwards, both normally go back to their spouses.
