I finished Dragon Age: Origins through Dragon Age: Awakenings wearing a wedding dress. No armor. I miss those times, watching some elf in a blood soaked wedding dress dagger-climb an ogre to slice it's head off. With high enough accuracy/agility and crit ability, practically every kill was a severed head or a special finishing move. The dragon ones were pretty fun to watch in particular.

Depends on the level. Depends on how the game handles these kind of things. After all they are abstractions, but some games like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game take wounds very seriously. In D&D a low-level fighter can still get killed by a bunch of goblins and a high level fighter is still wearing it because this is his means of negating received damage.

Depends entirely on the tone of the setting, contrary to what some people might believe not all RP experiences are separated from the general themes of the narrative. If I'm running or playing in a more grounded setting, even one with magic, I'd raise an eyebrow at slut-armour if it doesn't have some sort of excuse, but at the same time if we're going full high fantasy where the theme isn't at all about grit or realism then I'd be far less perturbed.

Sure, there will be individuals out there who gain a sense of pleasure or satisfaction from flouting perceived knowledge, but that doesn't make the answer to the question any less subjective. This is fiction, fantasy, intended to cater to the mentality of the readers in a way that invokes at least some levels of entertainment, therefore whether skimpy armour is valid or not entirely depends on the background of the recipients and medium to begin with. If I were GMing a gritty setting I'd probably treat unrealistic armour as unrealistic, but I'd also make sure my players understand what kind of theme I'll be setting. This really isn't that hard and is just another case of people telling everyone else that they're having badwrongfun.

Hi, not sure if that's me but in the last thread I said I didn't mind slutty designs for women as long as the men could be slutty too. I said it's uncomfortable to be in a room with seventy dudes, no other women, and have the wall covered in posters depicting nearly naked women. Depends on the setting and group. Personally, I prefer having all options available for all genders (you can interpret that as "both", but I'm assuming someone might play a golem or robot or something). I'm fine with uncovered fighters in most scenarios, but in some you may have to justify it a little (ex: Gladiator, proud of one's physique, etc.). Others, it can probably be ignored and treated mechanically as if it was realistic armor.

If the setting is super serious, dark, or historical, I might get a little autistic over "unrealistic" armor.

My point is that one thing leads to another the majority of games .No ones would put a ingame (im not taking about ilustrations) character that looks like you said "stepped out of Tera games" without an ulterior motive, consciusly or not.
