In my "research" of helping clarify the Tau taking multiple Signature Systems thing, I found another item that lets them evade the "1 relic per model" restriction. Aside from not being labeled as relics, there is a sentence missing from the Tau wargear list before the unit entries that is in every other "relic" using codex.

In the Tau Codex it reads:
"Only one of each Signature System may be taken per army." and then it lists the systems

In other codexes, in this case, the Grey Knights one it reads:
"Only one of each Relic of Titan may be taken per army. A model can take one of the following:" And then it lists the Relics.

This right here: "A model can take one of the following:" is what creates the 1 relic per army restriction and the Tau codex does not feature it.
>>

Nothing. Tau commanders get fucked just as hard as everyone else by the relic change.

Is the Dominus Maniple worth using solely for the Plasma Caliver reroll and a tough as nails Dominus? Is that better than having the entire force using Scout and Crusader? You could just have a Vanguard Alpha in the Skitarii Maniple and get the same re-roll, right? I really dislike the lone Dunecrawler nonsense and loss of Scout on the Vanguard.
>>
>>51314299
I seriously don't understand why there's ANY confusion with Signature Systems.

They're not called Relics. The word "Relic" never shows up in the rules half of the Tau Codex. So why do people want to arbitrarily enforce a non-listed irrelevant rule on something that's totally different in name?

I know it fucks with vanilla marines pretty good because there's relic weapons, relic shield, and relic wargear.

>They're not called Relics. The word "Relic" never shows up in the rules half of the Tau Codex.

The word "Relic" doesn't show up in most codices. It's mostly Space Marine permutations, Sororitas, Crimson Slaughter, Skitarii, and GSC. There's probably a few more that I missed, but Eldar have Remnants, Astra Militarum and Imperial Knights have Heirlooms, Cult Mech has Arcana, and most CSM have Artefacts.

>So why do people want to arbitrarily enforce a non-listed irrelevant rule on [Tau] something that's totally different in name?
Because people fucking hate Tau. The caveat is, if SigSystems are relics, Tau can (maybe) only have one per model, but can buy from the Fall of Cadia lists.

>>51314394
Likewise, a lot of non-"relic" lists have the word "relic" listed somewhere in that list's fluff, as well. There are "Artefacts," described as relics and "Relics," described as artefacts.

>>51314407
>There is literally nothing even remotely linking Relics and Signature Systems.
They're the fucking relic-equivalent. The unique wargear of the army, described as so rare, powerful, or advanced that There Can Be Only One (of each per army.) This is the same as any Heirloom or Artefact or Relic. It's incredibly clear that they're intended to be the "Relics" of Tau. "Relics" are a common gameplay convention.

If none of those are relics, then Iron Hands and Cult Mechanicus can't equip the Arcana Mechanicum of Belisarias Cawl. And Commissars can't take from Celestine's special list, but GSC can.

Would be essentially a moving fortification bristling with mid-strength blasts and have lots of HP but comparatively weak armour (12/12/12?), plus that"can be shot at at full BS" rule the Manta has.

Doctrinas and/or Canticles, a modest Invulnerable save and lots of battlements for firing down from.Troops on the top deck can deepstrike down like Valkyrie grav-chute insertion, and if destroyed must do this at a point on the explosion scatter point, but take an AP2 dangerous terrain. Ones in the hold take D hits and crashing hits as normal.

Basically imperium started in the middle, they set up first, so basically chaos got to see how the fortress was defended, but since creed is le super tactikool genius we got to redeploy d6 units before the game started

First turn went like all first turns in 40k do, a bunch of deep strikes filled every hole in our base, a crazy lucky melta shot exploded the void shield generator and killed the tech priest on it, not a good way to start and my assumption that we could hold out till turn 4-5 seemed pretty optimistic

I feel like they screwed the pooch with that turret. The KV-2's turret is less absurd!

Embed the railguns into the chassis and make an excellent tank destroyer instead. Leave the turret ring but put an Ion cannon on it that can be traded for a ghostkeel's invisibility field thingy. Behold! A mini-superheavy! Costs as much as a lord of war but is deceptively small and unassuming. With 13/13/11 armor AND shrouded, it has greater survivability than its 5 HP would suggest.

I'm thinking this as a counterpart to a Macharius.

Forgot to take a picture of the final state of the table, but basically on the final turn imperium was barely holding on, and we had abaddon come down from orbit to finish it personally, he deepstruck with no scatter and had an auto 12" charge, and we did a roll where on a 4+ he got supercharged by chaos and gained Horus' foolish and weak statline and wargear, he made the roll, and an angry Horus luprical beat a leviathan dreadnought fitted for combat with drill and claw to death in one turn, good way to end a game imo

To get the Fall of of Cadia relics, a character has to be in one of the special detachments, or be in the same ARMY as Celestine or Cawl. See pic. They don't have to be your HQ. They don't have to be in your detachment. They don't even have to be battle brothers.

A character just has to be able to purchase relics (or equivalent) and in the same army as Celestine/Cawl for their respective lists. They can be an allied detachment HQ, or even an unbound slot-in.

What the flying shitfuck does this mean?

Does this mean Alpha Legion can't bring back two units of cultists when one dies (assuming they pass two 4+ rules)?

If anything this FAQ/Errata doesn't address any of the actual rules issues in traitor legions and instead muddles what was clear ruling where two different rules would both be applied.

Now it's vague, open ended and entirely up to interpretation.

Are you kidding me?

I know that BL isn't canon but in ciaphas cain they are basically trained to the standards of the modern military, daily Drills, bolter drilling, formations, stuff like that, of course in the book they are still in their mid to late teens and have barely started training in power armour, so it could really ramp up as the years go on but top 1% is a pretty hefty claim without some proof from an official source

Some think the opposite.

Indeed, congratulasions for having reading comprehension.
I will agree with you that there was more problems in TL that needed clarifying, but anyone that thought you could get two squads of cultist out of one is a dumbass.
>>
>>51315190
I have no quotes that would mention anything I said, but from what I've read about sisters compared to female guard, compared to civilians, sisters have them all beat (with the exception of "legendary" female guard). I say top 1% only because they train in power armor and would in theory, be stronger than any woman who doesn't.

>>51315140
obviously
>>
>>51315183
I have no clue why they worded it that way but it is not hard to understand

You can use it to A. Bring the cultists onto your edge instead of out flanking.
B. When the original formation cultists die you can only bring them back once. With this rule you can keep bringing them back.

Sentinels are surprisingly fun, a squad of three with plasma cannons can get messy and solve the problem guard has of just sitting back and doing nothing

Be sure to load some guys in chimeras and send them down range, even if they don't have much to do it makes the opponent feel like they are doing something

Look up laser rapier destroyers, they're artilary so they can take orders and are pretty fun, not too expensive from FW (considering) and there's always China

Pask hatefucks everything and is a very juicy points sink for your opponent

Cyclops demolition vehicles are kyoote as fuck and only $10 each on eBay

I'm trying to think of weird and often overlooked units, I usually do an artilary park with psykers twin linking everything because I literally fap to manticores, basilisks, and wyverns, but you said you were trying to think outside the box

>and yes running gunships dropping of parachuting troops is fun as fuck

I thought something similar about the bloodthirster model until I bought it.

It's too fucking big, it's nightmare to transport, it towers over all the other daemons, it has loads of little details that get caught on things and break, it's the size of a super heavy(if not a little bigger) but is just a monster.

I like the old resin greater daemon, they were just the right size for gaming even if the old BT was hideous.
The new keeper better not fucking disappoint.

Nope, we all are. There are a lot of ways you could change them but giving them super heavy and fire points would be the simplest and most effective.
Stompas are 700 points and the nauts fill a nice halfway point, but they are in the price range of riptides and knights. Both of which arnt afraid of a single melta shot. See that gaurdsman in the corner of this pic? Hes about to roll a 6+ on the table

90 pts is difficult for DE b/c most of our best units require you purchase a transport in order to not be useless.
This makes most of our units minimum cost 105-165pts for just the squad + transport before you begin to upgrade the squad.

HQ - Lhamaean 10pts + Venom w/ extra SC 65 pts total of 75 pts
Troop - Nothing
Elite - Mandrakes x7 84 pts
FA - Venom w/ 2 SC 65 pts
- Beast Masterx1 w/ khymerasx8 total of 90pts (best use is to eat overwatch for other units)
- Reaversx3 w/ cluster caltrops 63 pts (3 reavers won't scare anyone)
Heavy Support - Nothing

While true I very rarely find that to be a worthwhile investment. 40k is about creating the largest number of chances to achieve the desired result on a D6. I've always played the game in that context. I don't kill terminators with AP2, I kill them by making them take 6 saves, I don't kill vehicles by getting a good roll on the chart, I kill them by stripping hull points. I've just always found that volume is much more consistently effective.

>>51316412

This is very true - plus they're very cool models and no entirely pulp in assault with 2 S4 attacks each.

4+ or worse are common in these armies
Skitarii, Guard, Tau (infantry), Tyranids, DE, Eldar (infantry), harlequins, Genestealer cults, Necrons (warriors), Orks, Scions.

The issue is most of these armies when building a competitive list have to find some way around their shit saves by either taking cover, or not those specific units.
The only armies that have to take units with those bad saves is Skitarii, DE, Genestealer cults, Orks, and Scions.

Having said that the main benefit of a maul is the +2 str not the AP.

>>51316410
Is this from a reliable anonymous source?

>>
>>51316567

Your small paint is drying too fast on your small detail brush. To increase drying time you have a few options:

1. Buy a better brush. Kolinsky sable brushes will have a much larger reservoir to hold water and paint compared to inferior quality brushes of the same size. This is very, very obvious if you put a scrawny cheap small size brush next to a kolinsky sable brush of the same size. The sable brush will have the same sharp point but tons more hair to hold paint.

2. Use a wet palette so you at least have a constant supply of fresh, wet paint.

3. Thin your paint with drying retarder instead of water or thinner. Drying retarder acts the same as lahmian medium and other acrylic thinners, but with the added bonus of making the paint stay wet longer.

4. Thin your paints more to get them wetter.
>>
>>51316509
I heavily despise War Convocation. The only benefit that you gain from it is that you end up with a Battle Maniple, so at least one of each unit. And each of the units in the 'dex have their uses, at the very least.

That being said, I love the Cohort Cybernetica. And the Holy Requisitioner. And the Elimination Maniple. It's a shame that the Skitarii formations are kinda garbage in comparison. Ironstrider Cavalries are okay, but that Ballistarii is bound to be a hefty target after your Dragoons run off.

Personally, I'm planning on building enough models that I can run any of these formations, if I wanted, and unless I'm in a tournament or if someone brings a stupid WAAC list, I have no reason to use Cawl or a War Convocation to have fun with the game. Battle cheese with cheese, as they say.
