Ok, what link should I add/remove from resources pastebin, discuss.

I'm looking forward to disciples of Tzeentch, unfortunately I'm flat broke. Still, I'm wondering about the minis for it, Kairic acolytes have plenty of options, halberds, shields and dual-blades, but is there really only one way to build the ogroid thaumaturge? And are you going to actually need a Kairic acolyte kit to convert tzaangors? Seems like there's not a lot of models in this particular range.
>>
Dumb question, but I just need it to be clear: "Stormhosts" and "Strike Chambers" are essentially chapters and companies respectively, correct? And Lord-Celestants are basically captains, while Lord-Commanders are chapter masters?
>>
>>51304410
There's a fair bit:
-ogroid
-tzaangors (we are getting a box just for us)
-kayric acolytes
-summoner
-skyfires
-enightened dues
-curseling
-magister
-sorcererlord
-Kayros
-LoC

And then all StD with mark of tzeentch.
>>
Complete scrub question, and I apologize in advance, but can wood elves and dryads/tree people be taken in the same army like they could in old Fantasy?
My friends were thinking of starting up a Sigmar league and I like the way they look.
>>
>>51304647
Absolutly. They're both Grand Alliance Order and can be freely mixed in Pitched Battles.
>>
>>51304667
Good to know, thank you.
>>
>>51304610
Not, really. To begin with there's no such thing as lord commanders. The second thing to add is that chambers are batallion sized and that stormhosts are about the size of pre-forgeworld Legiones Astartes.
>>

You wont need Kairic Acolytes to convert tzaangors. In fact you can buy the 40k kit for tzaangors since they come with all the fantasy gubbins you need to make a legal age of sigmar unit. Other than that it is as

How's everyone's painting coming along this fine friday?
>>
>>51305167

Hot damn those are some sexy Tzaangors. I'm running bloodbound and am still trying to paint the stuff from the starter set, but I need me some of those tzeentch models, they're so nice.
>>
So do any of you change up the color schemes in your units?

For example, I want the leader of every liberator squad to be silver instead of gold, would this look odd or should I just stick to one color scheme?
>>
>>51305167
>Base even looks like bird shit

Realistic / 10
>>
>>51305272
Well you know, It's always important to stay on theme!
>>
>>51305253
It's a bit tricky, but if you want to change the scheme like that it's important to make sure your unit has enough common elements, paintwise, to make the outlier still fit in.
>>
What are your lists for Tzeentch?

Can I take a Fatesworn Warband and maintain Tzeentch allegiance (the battalion only says Everchosen).
>>
>>51305253
I have variations for squads, leaders tend to stand out based on their poses.

For example, my chaos warriors all look the same, except one group has purple capes and brown shoulder fur, while the other has reddish/pink capes and bone colored shoulder fur.

One group of pink horrors is very pink, while another is an almost orangeish pink.

My tzaangor are probably all going to have the same skin tone, with different feather/hair colors for each unit. etc etc.
>>
>>51305492
According to the current rules, no you are stuck with regular chaos if you go fatesworn warband.

Damn shame, because rend -1 6+/6+/6+* (not even counting their armor save,) cultists would be very nice. Probably nice enough to ignore the tzeentch book, even just for a battle or two.

*the third 6+ is a warshrine. If you aren't taking a warshrine in the FSWB, then I hate you and you should rethink your choices.
>>
>>51305645
I really hope this gets FAQed... The Fatesworn Warband got fucked by the rule of 1 anyway so it would be nice to throw it a bone.
>>
>>51305658
I wouldn't get your hopes up. It may be a Tzeentch themed warband, but they are Everchosen. If my understanding of the lore is correct, they basically hate the Chaos Gods, and are simply abusing their power in order to overthrow them.

Or I could be entirely wrong, who knows. I don't read so good.
>>
>>51305725
There are also I think some O&G battalions that have the same problems, some of the spider dude battalions are marked O&G.
>>
Am I right in thinking a Gaunt Summoner from DoT gets:

-An Artefact of Power
-A Daemonic Gift
-A spell from the Lore of Fate
-A spell from the Lore of Change

Because he's both an Arcanite and Daemon Hero/Wizard?

So, to make Tzeentch Marked Chariots, I'm thinking of replacing the riders with Karic Acolytes. They should fit, yeah?
>>
>>51305965
They're support troops, and thus are in the support/command section. Makes sense, actually... sort of.
>>
>>51306056
Most likely, they're buff but not taller than the normal human models, so should fit in fine.

Checking here before I put em up on ebay. Anyone here interested in Brets? I got a force which I am going to sell because I have huge backlog that is never going to be finished.

I think it is something like 32 men at arms, 32 bowmen, like 27 or so knights of the realm, 5 questing knights, 3 pegasus, 2 lords and a green knight. They are all assembled and like 50 % is painted and the rest is base coated.

What do you guys think of this skink based seraphon army? I really like the skinks and the synergy they offer while also keeping irl costs down.

3 x Terradon Riders (140)
- Sunleech Bolas
3 x Ripperdactyl Riders (140)
5 x Chameleon Skinks (120)
5 x Chameleon Skinks (120)

Behemoths
Bastiladon (300)

Battalions
Heavenswatch Starhost (100)
Shadowstrike Starhost (120)

Total: 1980/2000
>>
>>51305167
Good to see you've painted up more Anon.
>>
>>51313130
Why take the Reckless trait? You can already reroll run+charge with the skink priest

I would swap the Starpriest for a Sunblood to give you a decent melee hero
>>
>>51305253
Change a small aspect of them, like an arm being silver. It changes things up a bit without ruining a set scheme
>>
>>51313159
Order traits suck for non combat heroes so it seemed the most useful to me. I need the three skink heroes to fulfill the battalion requirements unfortunately, otherwise i had considered taing a more combat oriented hero or one with a command ability.
>>
>>51313130
Illegal

You need 3 skink heroes for Heavenswatch and 1 more for Shadowstrike.

Units can only be in one battalion
>>
Just finished City of Secrets. Pretty good, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I mean, yes, it was predictable, especially the epilogue, and more than a little cliche, but that doesn't necessarily detract from the whole for me.
Solid plot and decent, if generic characters made for a good read, but, like everybody expected, the secret star of the story was the description of the city, its customs and its people. I kinda want to run an rpg there.
What are your thoughts?
>>
>>51313779
Want to read it, but need to finish Hammers of Sigmar first.
>>
>>51313779
I liked it pretty much the reasons you just said however I thought the villain was lacking a bit and the Tzaangors were underused
My favourite parts was the the initial meetings of the Lord Veritant, and that it turned into a Freeguild novel near the end
>>
>>51313980
Is there something even remoteley simmilar to the German WHFB empire in that freeguilders bit?
>>
>>51313980
>>51313824
You seem to have read the ebooks, are Lizardmangs or Serabros actually playing a role in any of them?
In WHFB they were petty much a footnote when it came to non codex fluff, are they more prominent now? do they get any characterization or personality?
>>
>>51314064
They still have fabulous mustaches, if that counts for anything?

>>51314112
No, lizards are forever boring.
>>
>>51314064
Yes, I'm not that familiar with the WHFB Empire but there is something that definitely reminds me of them
They bust out the steam tank and at one point the artillery fires on their own men

>>51314112
Read Skaven Pestilens, and it's one of the better books as well IMO
>>
>>51312875
They're waiting to get you your Fall of Cadia card
>>
>>51313980
I thought the betrayal was visible from a mile away and the ending was sorta rushed overall. It wouldn't have hurt to actually see the duel between Synor and the chieftain, for example. Also, the glimmerings never being explored any further felt odd.
That said, a very entertaining novel overall, even if the description of life in the city was the best part. People that wanted a ground-level view of the setting finally got that.
That cliché-storm of an epilogue made me roll my eyes though.

I think that's a perfectly fine idea, and that it won't ruin consistency at all. If one leader of one squad is Silver he's an outlier, but if every leader of every squad is silver, then a recognisable pattern of silver leaders emerges. You don't need to have perfect consistency between squad mates as long as you maintain a cohesive look between units! Besides, varied colours on Stormcast are both lore friendly and help break up a tragically monochrome army.

It gives us that human level grainyness that AOS has been missing so far. The idea that there are cities isolated in the realms where elves dwarves and men all kick about together (As well as under sea pirates riding giant crabs? that was unexpected i'm gonna be honest. ) Is something that really enriches the world.

It's the perfect setting for AoS skirmish games . Maybe taking the regiments of renown rulepack and expanding it with the path to glory campaign structure to make a sort of AoS Inquisimunda?

(cus god damn it i wanna run witch hunter dwarf bros and their retinue fighting cultists in the rat run slums and elf mafia run harbours of some arcane city!)

All in all I'd say 7 out of 10. Not perfect, a bit cheesy and obvious in parts, but it's nice to have a plot that isn't just "we kill the dudes" and has a little bit of intrigue in it.

This lets them have "tunnels" to any of the realms. Still backstabbing each other. Even the Horned Rat is assumed to be trying to fuck over Nurgle.

In the endless and diverse Realms of AoS, can Non-Breeder Female Skaven be a thing? I want to enslave a cute rat waifu.
>>
>>51318074
Well, you'd think so, but I suppose with how the other variations of skaven you have, any female is made to be nothing more than a giant breeder. Has it gotten to the point that even if a female skaven was born, is it just another mindless rat-tool? Or an actual skaven?

Are Freeguild next in line for a battle tome? Any new rumours or suggestions for them? It makes sense with the disembarking from Azyrheim and then the subsequent construction of cities across the realms of metal and life.

Plus in the DoT book its said that Tzeench has placed agents among the human population. Plus the new book, Cities of Secrets, which focuses on a freeguild Guardsman.
>>
>>51318074
They exist, but they are rare. Typically they're Grey Seers, as they have been exempt from the normal conditions of Skaven life, due to their supernatural abilities.
>>
>>51318232
Signs point to a steampunk Duardin release, but there also enough indicators for a Freeguild release, although it may be after the Duardin.
>>
>>51318251
Why a Duardin release over Free People's? Perhaps the dispossessed would be rolled into a Free People battle tome as ironweld arsonal are dwarves and freeguild
>>
>>51318324
It might be an Ironweld Arsenal release - they've already got steam tanks and gyrocopters. All we know at this point is that there's some great big riveted brass machine with a blue orb and dwarven symbol somewhere on it in the pipeline. It was the very first Rumour Engine picture.
>>
I heard that someone posted recaster emails in this general, anyone got them?
>>
>>51318378
Ironweld can't function as a standalone army though. Plus dispossessed are in the same place as Empire/FG in terms of boxes ect as Fyrelslayers already have their tome.

Since you asked for fluff, I might as well post one bit. An Archaon one since he is your favorite.

>THE WILL OF THE EVERCHOSEN

>Once, the Gaunt Summoners were given freedom by Tzeentch to pursue their own fates. In this the god was wise, as each of the mage-lords was obsessed with the accumulation of magical knowledge and power. In these pursuits, they brought Tzeentch great glory. Even the Gaunt Summoners’ amusements – testing the mettle of warriors in their endless labyrinths – offered the Changer of the Ways occasional distraction. Yet Archaon – most powerful champion of Chaos – wished to possess the eldritch power of the Gaunt Summoners for his own.

>Tzeentch himself watched on with great interest as Archaon sacrificed the lives of many of his followers seeking to discover the true names of the Gaunt Summoners, the only
way in which to bind their services. In this duel, Tzeentch was of two minds – the Gaunt Summoners belonged to him, yet on the other hand the attempts of each of the Dark Gods to persuade the Everchosen to serve them exclusively, rather than all of them equally, had failed. This both vexed and impressed Tzeentch, for it was not often that another could dictate the Great Conspirator’s chosen course of action. In the end, Tzeentch reasoned that allowing Archaon to usurp dominion of the nine daemon-sorcerers would better serve the god’s own ends, and so Archaon went on to win the names of all the Gaunt Summoners, never realising the subtle aid he benefited from along the way. Yet ever since, the Gaunt Summoners have chafed beneath the rule of Archaon and plot one day to rebel.

>Change is inevitable…

Arkhan and the Harbingers are DISTRACTION CARNIFEX, plus curse of the years is just hilarious.

the Skeletons are the lynchpin of the army.

3 attacks per model, +1 for the banner and Damse Macabre to pile in and attack twice each turn.

>Used to be that Horrors were big blobs of invertebrate tentacles
No, such miniatures never existed. They were always short headless humanoids, with or without tentacles.
>Same with Flamers
No, not the same at all. They were always jumping fungi, and they actually had bird heads at one point. What you refer to as "lamprey mouths" are just generic scary daemonic maws with teeth all around them.
>Screamers are just big toothy rays
Except when they're disks, then they can look like anything they want.

Let's also not forget the old daemon engines of Tzeentch, which all looked like mechanical birds apart from the Silver Tower. Let's also not forget the old Champions of Tzeentch with birdlike mutations. The bird is clearly not out of place. Your post doesn't make much sense, like it or not.

>This Sylvaneth vs Sylvaneth stream

>>
>>51320570
Depends on your strategy

If you are using buffs that target specific units then you can effect more models if you have 3+ chariots in a unit.

It's also beneficial to run them in larger units so you they all charge together. Trying to make 3 charges work instead of 1 charge leaves it in the hands of the dice gods, which can completely screw you.

On the other hand, running a larger unit of chariots can make it more difficult to fit all your models in melee. Your enemy can position carefully and generate choke points, splitting up your attacks or preventing a pile-in entirely.

A common example of large chariot groups are Khorne Gorebeast Chariots with charge bonuses from units like the Bloodstoker.

You can use the same Battalion multiple times, yeah?
>>
>>51322631
Pretty much. Learn to economics, scrub.
>>
>>51322673
In this case, its actually as a supporting role for the Tzeentch army. I'm doing a Canaanite/Near East theme so chariots are a must, and so guessing single ones might be besr as the buffs are going on Tzaangors mostly.

>arkhan
>no summoning points

ding ding ding

death is already in bad shape and you put yourself at a 340 point disadvantage.
the only thing that hit hard in the list are the 2 morghasts.

>Grave Guard (160pts) 2x5 Models
Why not summon those ? literally no use for 10 footslogging weak skeletons that will get shot off long before they can do anything

>Skeleton Warriors (240pts) 10x3 Warriors
>Skeleton Warriors (240pts) 10x3 Warriors
>Skeleton Warriors (240pts) 10x3 Warriors
720 points of skeletons ? Nothing to buff them ?
No offense dude but throw the list and restart from scratch, its just badly built.
I erased a much longer message that explained everything but you are trying to play normal death like someone would play Flesh Eaters.
Arkhan wont be a distraction carnifex since its a TOURNAMENT and people know that without summoning point and with 720 points of unbuffed skeletons the only thing he have to do is kill 10 wounds of Morghasts and the knight and he wins.
You are basically plating a 500 points army in a 2000 points tournaments>
Either summon, BoneZone, or play flesh eaters

had an argument in my local GW today.

if I only play iron jawz and use the IJ allegiance to make my ardboys, brutes etc. battleline units, do I also get access to the general destruction allegiance abilities?
>>
>>51323426
Yes. Tead the Faq, they spell it out. You always have the option of choosing the grand alliance abilities, even if you have a smaller allegiance.
>>
>>51323426
Yes

You can pick the bonuses of any allegiance you qualify for

GHB says otherwise but they put an errata out for it
>>
>>51323426
>You must record the allegiance abilities for your army when the battle begins, before setting up your first unit. You can choose to take either the allegiance abilities for the allegiance your army belongs to, or the allegiance abilities for the Grand Alliance your army belongs to.

Heavenswatch has
Starseer,priest and star priest
Salamander, terradon, bastiladon, stegadon, and handlders

Shadow strike has

Skink priest
All three units of skinks, and the rippers
>>
>>51323677
Shadowstrike can only have 2 units of Skinks, not 3
>>

Oh, they finally put a female Stormcast in a novel after, what, ten books?
>>
>>51322765
Feet are even tougher to sculpt than faces, and GW can't even get faces right in 80% of the cases.
>>
>>51323802
They've been in books before, just not BL books.
>>
>>51323704
Oh you're right then I'll move the last unit to the heavenswatch. That means I can deploy my whole army in two moves, plus the re-rolls from the starseer should enable me double turn most of the time.

My biggest fear is I have no useful battleline but my hope is that the explosiveness of the ripper strike and consistency of my other units will make up for it
>>
>>51323903
Prepare to be disappointed

Rippers are shit
>>
Will the pre-GHB/Sylvaneth factions have to wait for AoS 2.0 or when are they getting their items, spells etc?

Kinda sucks for Seraphon, Ironjawz and Flesheaters the most.
>>
>>51323929
Really quick mathahmmer says that after a dive and the shadowstrike ability six rippers with beaks alone will do between 5-9 wounds against a 4+ before the extra attacks. 3 rippers will do between 2-4 which isn't very good.

Even without the dive it's 2-5 wounds before extra attacks, that doesn't seem too bad.

Then again I'm theory crafting
>>
>>51323857
Oh, I know they've been referenced to exist, but I never saw anything of them having names.

That's why I'm surprised it took them so long to finally put Femcast in a book.

Not to my knowledge. I assume they are just spewing bullshit. The only stormcast that even talked was Lord-Veritant Cerrus Sentanus, the White Reaper. Doesn't sound like a female name to me.
Venatus was also depicted as less a character and more of a force of nature.
>>
>>51324374
More salamanders, or more Terradons. Terradons with starseer insight can do a lot of damage in a single turn.

Or cut the Shadowstrike Starhost entirely and run a Skink Chief instead
>>
>>51323942
Seraphon have power coming out their ears, they don't really need it.
Destruction trait is trating us Ironjawz very well and the abilities and relics aren't horrible either.
Flesheaters...yeah, maybe. I mean, they are unique in that they can still play a summoning game of sorts and the Death stuff is neat, but still.
The ones I feel got screwed the most were Fyreslayers (Order trait is garbage, though relics and abilities are nice) and Bloodbound (Chaos trait is at best meh, of the other stuff only Lord of War and Crown of Command are worth considering).
>>
Let me see if i've got this right. If i equip a non general with Crown of Conquest, can I use his inspiring presence, and my another command ability on my general in the same hero phase?
>>
So...

Were Kairic Acolytes sculpted by the same dude who brought us naked perfectly symmetrical dwarves?

Because I think he has a type.
>>
>>51324531
As someone attempting to build a seraphim force heres my two cents:

Seraphon have a range that is pretty good at everything, but most of their units are costly. Therefore most seraphon lists have to pick one thing they want to be good at and build around it. This makes them really one dimensional once they put models on the board.
>>
>>51324531
Fyreslayers suffered from both a limited battletome (unlike Seraphon they don't exactly have a lot of units) and the Order traits being kinda garbage.

You'd think that with all the digital stuff, a digital update would fix this for the factions left behind.
>>
So did we all of the tzeentzian releases?

I really hoped for some armored up dudes kinda like in the vain of the putrid blightknights and the one curseling model we got
>>
>>51323717
>but my delusions about utopian fantasy lands

>>
>>51324531
Order trait is really good for Fyreslayers

Rerolling battle shock is really good for an army that uses units of 20+ models and the Reckless command trait that lets them reroll run/charge is a godsend because they are a footslogging army.

>Bloodbound using Crown of Command
wot, Bloodsecrators make you ignore Battleshock, why would you need to use more inspiring presence?

COC is really amazing for Skaven and Tzeentch but it's very marginal benefit for Khorne.

You have no idea what you're talking about
>>
>>51323717
Most psychopaths actually hide their powerlevel until you confront them and threaten their status.
>>
>>51322323
order already had all the love, together with chaos

>>
>>51325335
But, honestly, what can really be done with death, bar resurrecting TK?
Flesheaters were great, but Soulblights and Malignants I doubt can be really expanded upon, Deathlords and Deathmages are functionally done and Zombies are boring as sin.
Skeletons maybe, but they don't seem very compelling on their own, either.

>>51325673

>>
>>51325784
Resurrecting Tomb Kings, a faction of mortal necromancers/death wizards, a ghost-centric faction, expanding the skellie faction with a proper battletome, resurrecting the vampire counts, there's plenty of potential in the Death camp.

Aristocratic Vampires (disciplined ranks of troops and vampire count leaders)
Bestial Vampires (bats, dogs, strigoi vampires
Ghosts/spirits faction
Expand deathmages to be a force you bring as allies, like the Ironweld Arsenal
Standard Deathrattle faction
Tomb King Deathrattle faction
Tomb King Reanimant faction
Expand Deathlords to have more elite units. Maybe a version of the Morghasts that are less durable but have shooting attacks?

Just off the top of my head
>>
>>51326139
>Aristocratic Vampires (disciplined ranks of troops and vampire count leaders)
I'd love for Soulblight to get vampire cultists/aspiring vampires as Battleline choices.
>>
For stormfiends. Doomflayer gauntlets or Shock gauntlets?
>>
>>51325784
Dude with a theme as vast as "undeads and necromancers" you could do things for years.

For Deathlords you just use the morghast/abyssal terror as a baseline, then you build on the estethic of "big skeletons with bodies full of souls trapped inside and ebon armor". You keep them always flying and elite, A unit of simil Morghast with ranged weapons, one with scythes that devastate hordes and one of heavy armoured ones with big tower shields. You can use smaller version of abyssal terrors as an unmounted cavalry unit and bigger variants for behemot.

For Deathmages you could do units of cultists, Liches, I'd love a ghost summoner that as an effect similar to the ark of sotek, with ghosts that swarm the battlefield around him. I also feel that this is good faction to add mage-assassin type units (like mages who are also assassins). Think about the Tenebrael Shard but able to cast.

Flesheaters are about cannibalistic ghouls, not bestial

How do a faction of ghosts/spirits, expanding existing factions, and aristocratic vampires "boil down to ressurecting tomb kings"?

You are real dumb
>>
>>51327303
You're the real dumbass here. Flesheaters are literally renamed Strigoi vampires, nothing more, nothing less.
Ghost and aristocratic vampire factions do already exist. Oh what wonderful things can you learn from opening the GA book!
>You are real dumb
That's nice coming from a person with the grammar of a ghoul.
>>
>>51327303
Flesh-Eater Court also have a bunch of big monsters that are clearly not just canibals.
>>
>>51327397
>Ghost and aristocratic vampire factions do already exist. Oh what wonderful things can you learn from opening the GA book!
They exist, but only in the same way that savage orks 'existed' in the main Destruction book. They still got a battletome of their own, and became all the better for it, both on the table and in fluff.

Same thing can be done for the various Death factions.
>>
