Got some dungeon-diving done, with a side of small bits of roleplay. Getting actual plot development will probably take a few sessions, but it should be all the sweeter when it happens. I'm most excited for the stuff that will happen once we get done with the currant chunk of the "main plot". One PC is stuck with the shambles of her family's estate, and the GM has informed me the consequences of poking the preserved clone bodies of ancient wizards will kick in once we head back to base. Gonna be a dad again, it seems.

Jumping off that, actually, tell me about the subplots you've had GMs add on to APs in order to spice them up!

There used to be a way via revelation rings, but otherwise you have to ask your DM if you can use a 3pp feat to poach a revelation, or suck it up and take one of the mysteries that has the revelation effet(s) you want. There are archetypes that give you specific revelations from certain mysteries, but none of them give Sidestep Secret or any other ability like it.

There was a custom race designed right here on /pfg/ called the Minos, which are explicitly cow-people with stocky human upper halves and thick, cow-like lower halves.

They had Powerful Build, Str/Con focus with a penalty to Int, and the potential for +2 Natural armor.

I'm trying to see about starting one of those persistent-world campaigns. Y'know, the kind with multiple DMs, and a whole bunch of players with several "alts" each. Kinda like an MMO, but a tabletop.

Anyway, I want to have a sort-of "discovery" mechanic, where at the start of the campaign, we only use core handbook content, but as the players do various things, they unlock various bits of the other books for everyone. An archetype here, a new playable race there, a few spells there...

Is it destined for failure, /pfg/?

Is there any archetype for Cleric that lets one use Charisma or Intelligence? I know there's a 'Lost Tradition' 3pp feat for 3.5 that lets you use ANY attribute for casting (including Physical ones) but it has to be taken at level 1 and I doubt many DMs would approve of it.

I had a channel on F-List that was supposed to be an extradimensional tavern floating on the astral sea and adventurers would find the portal keys that allowed them to visit. Levels would be gained at a rate of one per month (provided regular activity) and gms could run little one shot adventures from the pool of potential candidates. Could've been targetted to specific level groups as well. Never took off though.

Ok, thinking about making an fma:b style alchemist class. So far my idea is something akin to a modified wizard with the occultist magic circle ability. Proficiency is simple weapons, no armor proficiency. For alchemy, mod the magic circle features of occultist to fit the bill, and separate alchemy into categories, like wizard arcanas. Transmutation school would be primarily offensive, with dismantling and creation effects (think Edward Elrich's on the fly transmute all the things) Life would be medical effects, medicinal crafting, and probably chimeras. Elemental would essentially be the elemental sorcerer bloodline. I'm still trying to figure out what other "Schools" of alchemy there would be. (still not sure if I'd make alkahestry a tree or archrype though.) any kernals of wisdom I can use to better this class/help it along?

Ahh hell with it. Starting with turboknowledge is more in character than smartdodging.

The smartdodging can come at level 5 once she's actually gotten into the adventuring life.

Your character technically being in the party isn't an excuse to work against the party. There's a difference between developmental conflict and being a nuisance, and if you can't tell the difference then you're the nuisance.

Insulting a character's religion doesn't allow for development. Now they just don't want to talk to you. Same for insulting the character. Think how often you talk to people who spend their time mocking you. Working against the party's interests by prolonging combat or starting trouble does not serve as character development.

I have, I think most of us have.

There is a wide range of behavior. In one group I was in, the standard PvP format was love. Well, okay less love and more holy matrimony. Stuff like that never came to blows, but you could technically be utterly ruining a character's life by slowly crafting a situation where he'll end up having no choice but to sign those documents or go through with that ceremony. One of those "why can't they ever use all that brainpower on something useful for once in their lives" affairs.

In another, the two most vitriolic were pretty much a combat-couple. Eventually the only time their tongues weren't stabbing each-other is when said tongues were intertwined.

But there's also a lot of characters - nay, players - who will simply be a complete fuckface to at least one person in the party, and considers any backtalk unacceptable or even threatens escalation to violence if they dare besmirch their better name in return.

I've even seen utter bullshit like "hold a partymember's family hostage so they have to do what you say", with even an OOC "your character's not allowed to think that's a bad thing, it's not YOUR family and you're neutral anyways you wouldn't take issue with that" to go with it. Literal *villain* stuff that gets hidden behind a "waaah waaah those min-maxers don't like roleplaying help me be in character GM".

There's no character development when the only reasonable course of action is to put a bullet through his head and make sure that soul-eater demon chews thoroughly.
