I'm an avid MTG player from the states, and I just took a job I was offered out in England. I'd love to bring my hobby with me, but I don't know how commonly people actually play over there. I looked around in google maps and didn't find any shops that specialized in trading cards like I'm used to, just general hobby shops that might also sell them.
Is there an MTG scene in England at all?

Where you at?
If you're living in a city, you've probably got a half-an-hour drive at most to your nearest LFGS.
If you're living in a rural country area, be prepared to have to drive to the nearest city with a six digit population, which might take up to two hours depending on where you live.

Cirencester, about two hours out of London apparently. I haven't been there in person yet.
Europe has a huge MTG scene. Legacy Brealfast is my favorite MTG podcast, and theyre out of the UK. I dont remember where at, but they have shops close enough for weekly events, plus regular larger events within driving distance.

I'd recommend Atlantic Games in Stroud, Game On in Cheltenham or Waterstones in Whitby. Cirencester doesn't have its own store but it's got a few decent places nearby. You're not too isolated.
