I wanted Synchronicity Wave Travelling, and I almost went Collector (because, sure, that sounds like a nice word for "Thief", never used that one before) and bought the discount Vestments, but that wasn't working for me, on account of I also wanted prettymuch the entire Natural perk line, so eventually I said fuck it.
This works out better, though, because now I can brute force magic by pumping more magic into it. And even draw more magic FROM magic items, thereby giving me more magic. Wands? Rituals? Fuck it, I'll just slam a metaphorical hammer into the universe until it does what I want.

I guess some asshole is trying to kill me for a fountain now, because he doesn't want to share? I asked him if he wanted to just use it and he was like, "No, it must be mine and mine alone." Fucker.

So, it's this game where you play as a wizard, and your job is to build towers, it's a tower defense game, and monsters come up and your towers kill them? And in the jump, one of the backgrounds is to be the person who makes the monsters, which involves all these rituals to make monsters stronger and such.

And the capstone is the ability to make these shadowy bullshit fighter guys, and they're really quite strong? And they have the capacity to learn, even. But as a downside, creating them eats a permanent chunk of your magic. So, I would assume you would need to develop a way to or get a perk that gets rid of your overall magic cap, so that you can eventually make up for the loss.

Well, pretty much any effect you could have as a defensive effect at a high level. Reflecting attacks, whether back at the same enemy or at another target in range. Absorbing attacks and then using them to empower yourself with the energy or empower a weapon. Maybe some sort of mirror shield that creates a duplicate of a foe or summons fighters from some alternate dimension, ala mirror knight from DS2.

I dunno, shields can be pretty cool, I'd say you could find some neat stuff.

I was thinking of summoning Cain of the Bible as Assassin and giving him the Mark of Cain. It would be an EX rank barrier-type Noble Phantasm which works like God Hand except it perfectly reflects any attacks of A+ rank or below back onto the attacker while defending Cain. If you hit him with an attack above A+ rank then your attack is reduced by an amount equivalent to A+ and that amount rebounds onto you.

Does this sound about right?

Define "Free". Like, just free? No strings, just free?

Pokemon Mystery gives you a Partner for free, you can even pick their species.
Platoon gives you a squad of like thirty soldiers for free, anyone who survives to the end of the jump becomes a companion.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines gives you a free Ghoul companion.
Black Bullet gives you a free "whichever background you didn't take" companion if you choose to be either the little girl or her handler.
Generic Xianxia gives you a companion depending on your background, I think.
Dragon Age gives you a free companion based on your background.
Starcraft: Terran gives you a free pick among the different unit types.
Naruto gives you a couple teammates with free CP.
Going to Fate and picking up a Servant lets them become a companion post-jump, which costs no CP to start.


Of course, you can also delve into the forbidden art of the Drawback Companion, which are technically free.
If you're looking for something relatively benign, there, I might recommend the Annoying Mentor from Boktai. He's just a guy who loves to do exposition, but otherwise means well and isn't an idiot.

You can also get "free" companions for completing certain drawbacks or scenarios, like Bass from Mega Man, or Malefor from Spyro.


I have so many companions I don't need, I swear to god.

Powerless Shell reduces you stats to a lesser form and means you gotta go into a release state to use them at full power. I'd say that at base it reduces your stats/skills by about half and requires a time limited transformation, Higher ranks make either the reducement worse or the transformation conditions worse, up to you.

I'm practicing mine (when I get the opportunity. I don't go around looking for people to shoot) for the Trigun jump! It's just a spell on a bullet that exaggerates the pain it makes when it hits, but it also auto-stablizes them in case I hit something important. The wound also looks bloodier than it's supposed to be thanks to an illusion spell.

The overall effect is that it gives off an intimidating vibe and scares them.

In more fantastical settings it's a small little ball I throw that suddenly explodes into an illusion of flames.

That we see. We don't see it slice through Excalibur, just through Saber's summoned armour. Even when it was described as what it'd do to the Spellbook, it's just that it severs the connection to the user, not that it destroyed it. Big damage stops mattering rather quickly when you get down to it, and the healing fountain just lets you heal once an hour at one specific place that you were already safe in.

Really I question what problems you have with them. Shunting all your points into the supplement lets you come out significantly farther ahead than if you had wasted your time with them.

Basically Black Barrel imposes death onto beings that should be immortal in the sense that they can't die.

In universe it was used to kill one of the TYPEs which are in their own class of bullshit that even servants would not be able to even dent. The TYPEs should be immortal as long as their home planets are still around but Black Barrel bypassed that immortality.

Its major drawback though is that it requires Grain, a sort of element that is not explained very well but has large quantities in the TYPEs and Notes's earth. But there is a weaker replica in the Tsukhime jump that is CP backed to work in any situation.
