I have a mix of both, only my RL friends aren't so grubby and like to write stuff and learn systems.

I don't care if you're the best fucking roleplayer in the world, if you're not someone I can be friends with I don't want to have to sit around a table with you for hours.

Contrariwise, if you're a real cool guy and I enjoy hanging out with you, I don't give a crap about your derpy roleplaying or the derpiness of my own.

Assuming that the Rando's can't become your friends and vice versa: Real life Friends all the time. If there's one thing I've learned in this life, it's that whether something's good or not is less important than whether or not it's fun. Having both is preferable, but if the choice comes down to it, I'd rather watch That shitty Petra Pan movie and laugh at it with my friend, than sit through The Revenant.

- Generally they're ok but they immediately turn into murderhobos when a NPC even slightly patronizes them
- MinMaxing the shit out of every character
- every one is special snowflake 100% original concept
- They roleplay well enough and sometimes great but everyone almost always plays himself/herself with so little nuances of their alignment and race. This tends to create some tension since they're bad in social skills in real life.

+ I love every single one of them and it's generally an enjoyable experience playing with them but god I wish they would grow a little and learn to be a group instead of individuals stuck with each other. Some sessions just feels like I'm leading a group therapy session
