Have you ever thought that Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2020 are pretty much about criminals and mercenaries doing dirty anti-corporate jobs, usually hired by other corporations?
And knowing that such criminals and mercenaries exist in reality and some of them in fact do dirty jobs for the corporations and for the government, do you think there is an in-universe version of the Shadowrun/Cyberpunk that is played by the wageslaves that ridicule the phrase "cyberpunk is now" and "it's all just fiction, we're as far away from cyberpunk right now as we can get", unaware of said under-the-carpet deals that their corporation/government does with criminals and mercenaries, just the same as some people say nowadays in actual reality?
It would be pretty ironic.

I'm pretty sure shadowrunners are well-known to exist by everybody.

No.

The closest thing IRL is organized crime that gets in bed with legitimate business. Japan and Russia are full of that shit. Check out the Aluminium Wars in Russia back in the 90s.
When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.

I mean I would, but now I'm thinking about why anyone would have a picture of Jaden Smith to post with.

90s and today are two different eras for Russia, tho

Yeah, 90s weren't so totalitarian for Russia. Even if things were absolute shit, and you couldn't get any material goods, it still was a time of change.
