Donovan...missed the day his class went over the concept of 'specialization', and in his error he spent most of his time studying all forms of elements. As a result, when he graduated he had next to no magic of his own, though his custom weapon was fearsome. Luckily, to help offset this, Donovan was easily one of the most popular students in his graduating class which meant that many, many of them were eager to join up with him. He was assigned to the City Guard initially so that he could focus on his magic, though he was sidetracked by Etches during this time. He was thrown into the Battlemage Tournament after his tour with the guard, in order to see how other Battlemages fight. Luckily, this seemed to knock some sense into him, though he still studied multiple elements instead of specializing to the dismay of his teachers. His increasingly large group was noticed, however, and Donovan was picked to defend an important Fort from assault, learning much more magic during his time from his companions and attractive even more Battlemages to his side. While unorthodox, the other Battlemages admitted that Donovan's methods worked, and sent him to fell a Titan with his motley crew of friends. After a grueling battle he further enhanced his knowledge of all the Elemental schools, proving that one does not need to specialize in order to be a Battlemage.

At the novice level I'll simply be running some fairly routine patrols under Kiwi. She is far more experienced in this and will be training me in the finer points of stealth while we are out. Since we'll be be performing our patrols at night, our speciality, we are fairly likely to run accross the occasional dustscream. Matching us in shadow powers it will be our skill at stealth and combat that win the fight.

At the intermediate level I'll begin training my combat skills under Defiant Fang, who will in turn also be developing her stealth. The plan for the soultooth skirmish is quite simple: avoid the soulteeth and assassinate the Anp before anyone even knows we are there.

The three of us should further hone our magical skills at the Expert level. Again were taking an assassination mission. The Broudigs aren't our priority. At their size it should be actually be fairly easy to get past unnoticed, kill the Det-Gall and leave before anything else can come for us.

Following our successful assassinations against the Detritus it's only natural we be joined by one of the best the Dusk Guild has to offer. Ghost will make a fine addition to our highly-specialized team. Killing the Det-Tevr won't be nearly as easy as with the others however, as it can match us both in shadow and dispel our darkness with divine magic. To be honest, I'm not even sure we can handle it ourselves, but it's the best chance we have.

SDA basically said "Whatever the fuck you want" when asked about combo spells, and those two are pretty logical. Just don't think that you'll have complete control over water, since you'll only really be able to cast specific spells similar to the ones you already have.

It would've been cool if I'd switched the position of Fire and Lightning on my final spell list. That way it would reflect the progression of aerospace technology: first wind powered with gliders and the like, then chemical propulsion with solid rocket boosters, then pure energy represented by Lightning. A Construct with one sole desire in it's life, Chunalft joined the battlemages simply to "slaughter". While mildly unsettling at times, Chunaflt has proven to be incredibly good at killing Detritus beasts, dashing throughout the battle field in flashes of blades and magic.
