I'd say it's worth it, my group has played it a lot and had some serious fun with it.

It's better than base Legendary IMO, and this may sound odd, because characters can die. In regular Legendary wounds are just dead cards that shit up your deck, in Encounters you have a set limit of wounds you can take before you die and your out of the game.

Makes the whole thing a lot more tense and of course for Aliens it's pretty thematic.

Not played the predator version but I do intend to pick it up at some point.

I think they are but I'm not 100% sure.

I doubt it would take much to house rule them even if they officially aren't.

This guys is right. Aliens Legendary Encounters is fantastic. I like its mechanisms and its theme is on point. I haven't played Predator but those that have said they didn't enjoy it as much.
