Why don't any of the traditional fantasy races have camouflage skin? Seem like an oversight to be quite honest.
Orcs are usually portrayed with green skin, but no setting have ever noted the potential camouflage advantages of this.

Aren't we forgetting something?

not as good as rock-grey. Or is the stone black in the underdark?
>>51006866
Damp stone is, yes. And the underdark is moist enough for fungal growth, aboleths, and mindflayers to hang around.

In my head, orcs, goblins and trolls would all have varying types ofor camouflage. Striped orcs, blotchy gobbos, stone textured trolls.

I still think you're wrong.

actual green skin or does it just look green. Because actual green (defined here as green pigments) in animals is ALOT more rare than you probably think.
Not that this distinction actually matters.

>The race is so adept at camouflage that no one has ever realized that they even exist.

How did you make that image?

Don't you know that gnomes can camouflage themselves?

Inner cities ghettoes.
Seriously though I don't think black animals do enjoy evolutive advantages in the night. But the idea of a camo race is bretty gud, gonna steal it.
