>Play this great little hex and chit wargame called World in Flames.
>There's one guy in our group who is really good.
>I mean, really, really good.
>We just finished up a game where the side he was on lost. It is quite literally the first such game in 6 years.
>I don't mind him being a better player. He's talented and smart.
>But he doesn't actually know half the rules.
>It is god-fucking maddening. He doesn't remember things like turn order, or the multiple states of war rules, or hex rounding rules for non-European map scales.
>But he's got a head for quick calculating probability and just a knack for general strategy, so it doesn't matter and he (almost) always wins anyway.

Why does he have to be good at everything? I think you take this game too seriously, so it must be really fun.
>>50979154
You sound annoying to be around.

I'd normally agree with you, but the OP indicated a time span of at least six years. You'd think SIX FUCKING YEARS is enough time to learn some rules.
>good at game
>doesn't know how to play game
Isn't that contradictory?

Not always. Sometimes people can be stupidly good at a game even though they barely understand it.
For an example, watch the Game Grumps play poker. Ross was even compared to Mr. Magoo and yet he almost wins.

>watch the Game Grumps
No thanks.

My gripes aren't that great, its just my friends are annoying in a few ways.
>One friend is constantly running his mouth, and doesn't shut the hell up
>Two friends take fucking 10 minutes to do anything
I've actually started to splinter off and made my own group, which is much better, but I have to drive a good 45-50 mins to play with. Everyone is super chill and just nice to be around.
