First time for me and my friends playing D&D before and I'm DM'ing. Can someone point me in the direction of places to find appropriate background music for taverns dungeons etc?
Also, any other tools I could have pulled up on a laptop to enhance the experience as a DM?
Don't do it. Start slow, focus on the game and your players first. When you get a good hang of it start incrementing the games, as those things will inevitably distract you and the players. Voices, props, lightning, music, all can make your game better, but they take some effort and should only be introduced when you already can handle DMing during the session without much effort. No music will ever make up for flaws in adventure design and information dispensing.

And, your best bet for music is to remember video games you're hoping to match the tone of, and pilfering their soundtracks. Dark Souls for dark themes, Chrystal Chronicles for lighter games, and you can find just about every major game's OST on youtube.

That right there is the biggest mistake. Your game is already doomed.

Google Kobold fight club.
The first rule is YIP YIP!

This is false.

It's a trash game to play. OP is just going to end up disappointed when one of the party spellcasters finds a way to nuke whatever threat he throws in a single round. It's gonna go down the tubes.

More like use Sleep on it.

Just as accurate.

Sleep + Coup de Grace is as much of a show stopper as the high end-magic would be.

Don't reply to trolls.

Was more hoping OP would see it and not get discouraged.
