Decided to go back and tinker a bit with an archetype I worked on a while ago.

The Futurist: A construct and firearm-based summoner archetype that trades out the Eidolon in favor of buffing Summon Monster (When you only have one instance of it going, to prevent it getting too silly numbers-wise).

I mean. Overall, warlocks in 3.5 weren't really that, and neither is the avowed. "Someone else made a deal, and you reaped the benefits" is one of the explicit possibilities within both the warlock and the avowed. The books also listed a bunch of other possibilities, ranging from gifts, study, radiation poisoning...

In addition, for the avowed, for many pacts, it's "someone poked you with a seed of power, and then your power grew from that starting point." Less 'sold my soul for talent' and more 'nen baptism', in a sense (if you read/watch Hunter x Hunter).

When Avowed 2's SkyMarket appendix comes out (likely once we get the full beta of it out; currently finishing up the stuff for A2's alpha), it's going to include examples of alternate fluffs and backgrounds for avowed. An in-depth handbook to refluffing the class, with examples on all points of the snowflake scale.

Perhaps that'll be up your alley.

ARRANGED MARRIAGES /PFG/ AND ELVES/DWARVES.

I've recently had some amusing ideas about "arranged" marriages between elves (and potentially dwarves) /pfg/ okay I actually thought this up about a while ago. Particularly around the 'gender swap potion' controversy where it was determined the actual price of the effect of the potion in question was only around 450 gold to purchase, rather than the 2250g to purchase (1125 to craft).

In the case of arranged marriages, you may have a noble family that loosely arranges a marriage 150 years before they have kids - a sort of "hey our houses work well together, we should merge them" verbal agreement (or a more legalistic one for the dwarves) - and when they finally do pop out some young-uns their kids both turn out to be the same gender, they loosely groom them in their responsibilities and make sure both parties are consenting - then the heirs get married and they swap off on gender-swap baby duty (cause gotta produce heirs of their own).

You now have loving F/F & M/M noble families/dynasties, with proper heirs... because wealth, magic and long lifespans leads to funny shit.

In fact, now that I think about this more, it could be a not uncommon tactic to consolodate "weaker" houses/clans by making it so there is no fighting over heir's etc.

Another place where it could be applied is in a menzoberranzan like setting, where it could once again be used to completely consolodate houses. There's a lot more complications there, and a lot of backstabby prone behaviours, but it could turn two weak houses into one moderate one, with a reasonable dual-matriachy that is later handed over to a single matriach. Less loving, but more POWER.

MAYBE A HUMAN HOUSE WANTS TO TRY THIS NEW THING THAT THEY HEARD ABOUT FROM SOME FOREIGNER, AND NO LAWS EXIST FOR IT, SO IT CAUSES BRIEF POLITICAL CHAOS.

Celestial pact’s Heavenly Body now adds its bonus as a sacred bonus, not untyped.
Celestial pact’s rune of penance now notes that creatures are aware of the punishment it can cause.
Court Fey pact’s attunement clarified—it redirects to one target, not every possible target.
Fiend pact’s Disquieting Gaze is now 1/round.
Shadow pact’s attunement now grants a defensive benefit if you go fast.
Aether pulses now carry elemental descriptors if they deal energy damage.
Aether channel has been adjusted to have lowered damage when making touch attacks with weapons, in addition to with TWF.
Aether rampage’s rend is now Strength or Charisma, not just Charisma.
Aether retaliation lets you melee if you have aether blow.
Aether rounds has been buffed back up to applying to every attack, but adjusted to have lowered damage with TWF and touch attacks.
Air lock’s phrasing was adjusted to not reference “zones.”
Weatherproofing notes that it affects riders on the pulses too.
Aetheric Armor has had its prerequisites loosened a bit to allow for non-pure-muscle avowed to grab it.
Embodiment of Aether now also swaps for pact abilities that rely on Cha, but no longer buffs Spellcraft.
Merciful Pulse now works for clause damage too.

Clauses can now be dismissed (it’s in the base class’ clause section).
Starting age of the class has been added.
Specific names of multiple websites have been removed from the Specials Thanks section in order to prevent any trouble that it might cause if said websites don’t want me listing them.

What's the maximum we're looking at with aether pulses? 20d8 (your caster level for those forms), or 30d8 (triple barrage)? We can empower three times per day, or at the cost of modulations, once we have two feats.

That's 30d8 area (135) or 45d8 (202) at 20th.
Is there anything else to add to this? That is the "no longer have a special effect" Overcharge mode here.

With special effects, the damage potential is AoE 90 or single target 135, just barely enough to take out a pack of CR 7s (that's CR -13) or a single CR 10 (CR-10).

That is extremely low. Hopefully the second book has some fixes?

Intention for Aether Infusion is to make ambushes more effective or do something useful with your turn when you can't actually target an enemy, not replace your normal attack. As nice as a Spirit Bomb feat would be, we couldn't make it work in a system with such short combat.

If you're optimizing Aether Barrage, you're looking at this sort of build:

>FCB: +1/2 a damage point of something useful
>Shape Choices: Barrage (1st), Barrage (2nd), Barrage (4th)
>Level 2: Balefire Infusion
>Level 3 feat: Overcharge Modulation

The result is this damage, enough to one-round most equal-CR monsters at any given level.

This is, of course, bearing in mind that past mid levels, you're near-guaranteed to never miss. It's also an excellent debuff delivery tool.

For AoEs, you'll have empower as an option, as well as potentially Inferno Pulse (another half-again), FCBs, class features, or just applying nasty debuff riders to the whole fight. AoEs aren't going to one-shot the entire battle, though. Maybe the mooks.

One issue is that the charge rate does not change; it doesn't have to equal full hits though of course. As a full action, "when you can't target" is of limited viability, as you should probably be moving to allow it.

Full round would imply aether focus, but then the numbers don't match. It does cause trouble with PF being rocket tag; the enemies are still alive until the very end of the round; party must dispatch them to avoid counterattacks, or will suffer them and would generally have one-shot them either way. Enemies are generally focus-fired to death, though using a counter (initiators,etc) would cancel the initial hits and thus the boosted damage as well.

In many other systems I would pay through the nose for something like Aether Focus.

1st, show him the Warlock specified feats in legendary villains vigilante (in the trove) gets an opinion. Especially if you want to "blast" because base mystic bolts suck.
2nd If you want to cast close quarters you need combat casting, at least for the early game.
3rd If you Could go the crafting route you should pick one of the feats and leave it there, Vigilantes are meant to be a the Martial that can fight, socialize, and a bit of everything in the middle.

The most important points are the NPC level and class and dexterity. All the other stuff adds up to about -12 to hit.

Just give the guy a ring of true strike (every other turn get +20 to hit) and snipe the fool.

Remember it takes 2 turns to reload the ballista so it takes 1 shot every 4 rounds. Making it a magic ballista can also make it easier to hit.

A few other things. Kitsune subraces are as follows.
Base/Huli Jing - +2 Dex/Cha, -2 Str
Keen - +2 Dex/Int, -2 Str
Coyōtl - +2 Wis/Cha, -2 Str
Kumiho - +2 Str/Wis, -2 Con
Zenko - +2 Dex/Wis, -2 Str

Everything has a penalty to either con or strength. Like, I get it's your fetish, but you're restricting party versatility by restricting to kitsune only. Not only that, but you shouldn't dictate to people that if they want to play a certain class that they MUST play a specific archetype. There's nothing wrong with Hidden Blade/Myrmidon/Silver Fist, but there shouldn't be a requirement to play one.

Lastly, it's pretty clear you're trying to have a welcoming atmosphere. That's pretty undercut by banning a specific person. Most people here don't particularly care one way or another about 2hu, and just wish people would shut up.

PoW comes up a lot because it's one of the few ways to have a "plain" martial character who's not boring to play.

Other DSP stuff comes up a lot because it's replacements for things from 3.5 that Paizo hasn't published, like incarnum (as veilweaving), psionics, etc.

The reason we keep mashing tons of 3rdparty shit into the game is because the game is moderately crap/unbalanced without them.

Most games not on /pfg/ will ban non-core stuff because of alledged power creep, and you are welcome to find dozens on the roll20 listings or gamefinder threads.

I would personally recommend learning some of the alternate systems but you can easily run full campaigns with limited 3rd party stuff. It really depends on having a good GM and good fellow players.

Just look at the past few posts, someone was getting a tad defensive about how "free pick 2 might hinder/help other classes more", which again is understandable, but not the comparison was between fight and inquisitor which isn't a fair augment because, 1pp, one has magic and one does not. We all know magical options will be stronger, most of the time, but the comparison was a pretty bad match up.
Not to mention it felt like pow wasn't thought about when they formed their opinion.

Alright, I've opened up A Fluffy Fairy Tale's races to allow daoine sidhe for variety!

If you're a daoine sidhe, you get only one +2 floating. It's a strong race. Most daoine sidhe in the Fluffy City look like foxgirls/foxboys, catgirls/catboys, doggirls/dogboys, and other kemonomimi like that. Because the kitsune imitate the daoine sidhe, the kitsune are also kemonomimi in two-legs form!

Like, is it just "like humanoids but slower", or is it something more like they have a normal fox lifespan where they're basically just a fox (possibly an unusually smart one), and then after that grow into magic and human-level intelligence?

The latter thought kind of intrigues me, because it says interesting things about a society where child-rearing up through like preschool equivalent is basically the same as raising a pet.

The "breath" weapon is when she informs the adventurers that they are now breathing manually. All casters need to make concentration checks in order to complete spells due to the distraction. Autohypnosis can also end the effect.

I think technically speaking they have the Youkai ability all the way through. The exact details of it are intentionally left to your group; in my case, i like to think of them as intelligent foxes up until age 50, at which point they can turn into people.

Would anyone here want to play a game where you are members of a private detective agency? Starting at level 3 in a metropolis+ (1.2 million population). People would come to you with cases you would investigate and solve. There would be political intrigue with the local blue bloods, bits with organized crime, and more as you see the movements in the great game.

The agency would be based off the Pinkerton Agency, otherwise known as the coolest shit ever.
