How well made is the FW GUO?

As I said, I don't agree with it, I don't think it is overpowered, but I can understand why people think it is.
It is less of something completely stupid, more of an not-entirely unreasonable opinion.

I do think when they update the rules there should be some form of penalty (even if it just counts as being in cover for the shooting phase) if the shooters have to make a LoS through their own allies.

That way you don't get punished for good positioning, yet armies that don't have much to help deal with it get a slightly better chance.

Aos lets you start playing with whatever you want, but lets do some math:

2 SC boxes gets you:
2 dinosaurs
14 cavalry
20 warriors
For 130 euro.

My starting list would be two boxes of guard (45 each), an hero of your choice (between 12 and 20) and a monster of your choice (about 45).

That gets you:
30 guard
A monster
A hero
For about 150 euro.

See how buying seperately doesnt add that much to the cost but lends you more options and an overall stronger list. Like I said before, only buy the SC box if you really want the carnosaur, and you probably do, so youll end up with at least one eventually anyway, but telling people to blindly get the box is fucking stupid.

I advise you get the Battletome to look at their battalions. Each one changes how you are going to build your army.

Otherwise, Dryads and Treemen have a place in pretty much every army. If you are going Tree Revenant heavy, then you may like the Ironbark Wargrove.

The minimum you need for it are a Branchwych, a Treeman and two units of Forest Revenants (this will make up the "Household" Battalion you require, so it will get access to two sets of battalion rules).
The Wargrove special rules let you half the amount of models that run away in the battleshock phase, and they let you reroll wound rolls of 1 with the Tree Revenants and Branchwyches melee attacks.
You also get access to an artefact that lets you add 1 to the bearers wound rolls.

You can even have 2 Dwarf units if you want, without breaking the Sylvaneth Allegiance.

Just talked with owner of one LGS and he said that GW gave them no info about their plans with SoD so he don't know if he will have any more for sell. Called to other LGS guy and he said that SoD will be normally produced and selled in next year as all other sets.
I don't really need a second SoD box right now but would be nice to make our armies bigger. On the other hand LGSs have 1/5 lower prices than GW. Don't really know if I should wait and save some money for paints or buy it right now without the risk that SoD will be out of stock for good

For skaven that's a resounding yes. The only guy you don't need two of is the warlord, who you can easily convert into something else.
For elves it's a little less clear-cut. Reavers and Spireguard you will definitly want more of and additional Swordmasters won't hurt, either. But there is little reason to have two Archmages and a second Highwarden is situational at best.
Then again, the box is cheap as chips, so why not grab a second one?

Italian here. Nothing new on the ogroid and the Gaunt. The Kairic box is 20 models, all with shield and blades, with some cursed glaives, some scrolls for increasing their blaspheme powers, some Vulcharcs (the bird) which attack mages and 2 promotions to Acolythes.

The Battletome contains 14 warscroll and 10 battalions for demons, 10 warscroll and 8 battalions for arcanites, three tables of command traits, 4 sets of arcane relics, and 3 new magic lores. Also path to glory for arcanites and daemons.


Slave to darkness appear to not be in the book, but the new allegiance traits is specified they work even for them.

I am painting my Longbeards gold, but my armies main colour is blue so I needed a way to tie it into them, and I decided to try out that gemstone paint on some armour/weapon details.

Basic tzaangors are out, they share a box with the 40k set. A few white dwarf leaks have come out (>>50926636 >>50926643 >>50926649) which show the stuff going up for preorder on the 14th Jan and release on the 21st. Don't know if the other tzaangor stuff (disk riders, and shaman on disk) will be coming out on those dates too however.

Assuming no unit buffs for being a certain size, is it better to have multiple smaller units or one big unit, generally?

Smaller units = more mobility, less Battleshock
Larger units = Easier to buff

Am I missing anything obvious?

I guess one other thing is certain units are kind of reliant on their sergeant/champion equivalent for a lot of their damage, especially as in AOS you can often give them a special weapon. If that's the case, going MSU will get you more unit leaders on the field.

Why are the grand alliances books not on the web when all the other AoS books are (eg general's handbook, battletomes etc)

I'd wash the iron earth with agrax. Water down rhinox as sort of glaze. Glaze over cracks and blend into agrax. Create puddles and add some skulls and maybe a few dessicated trees

Well, hopefully it's a good one. Judging by the Skyfires, I guess their beaks will be bumped up to 5+ to wound at least.
In the end it really depends on their point cost, but I'd like them to be somewhat more elite than Kairic Acolythes.

Grand Alliance books consist of three things: Fluff, warscrolls and batallions.
The fluff is sparse and largely only stuff everybody already knows.
The warscrolls are all on the app, the webstore and in the battletomes, so take your pick.
