So there was a topic about "modern fantasy" and I was wondering something.

Let's say you have a kingdom that was "modernizing" and the various villages part of the kingdom get things like roads and infrastructure like electricity. How far would typical villages be from each other and how would this affect things like building roads to connect them and building things between said villages.

Admittingly I know nothing of english geography but isn't it very hilly? Does that make connecting various towns/villages with modern infrastructure difficult?

Roads can go up hills.

Indeed they can. This goes into the overall question on how you take ye'olden villages and gradually add changes from advances in technology.

I imagine this would be harder to do in some rural village then say a city/castle town perhaps? Perhaps you only have the riches few of the village who can afford to have a generator powered by a bound lightening elemental before the government gets around to laying to infrastructure?

Regarding the image, it should be noted that chain does a horrendous job of protecting against bullets, as it has a tendency to get caught in the resulting wounds when punctured, and/or fly every which direction as dangerous shrapnel causing further injury to the wearer. Of course, this only became common knowledge after World War I.

Even if there was another layer of armor underneath? Regardless they are essentially magitech robots.
