>>
With 2016 nearly done, what if we did some end-of-the-year jumpchain awards? Stuff like, best jumpmaker, best new jumpmaker, best jump, etc.

There's no way it could end well, but what if?
>>
>>50889423
The jump says it can lay waste to entire fleets, I guess that wasn't an exaggeration.
>>
>>50889596
Come on, that's low-hanging fruit. Everyone makes Twilight a better place.

I tried my best in Evangelion, and I think I succeeded. I was Shinji's older brother (thanks to that one drawback) and was very protective of him as a result. I provided plenty of support and help, and he improved greatly, both as a pilot and as someone who interacted with others. I tried helping with Rei as well, but Shinji surprisingly had that covered. Asuka was a much tougher nut, and we butted heads a lot, but ultimately we got along after a yelling fit between the two of us while trapped in Leliel. Erm, to explain, I threw Shinji out of the way and Asuka wasn't able to get away in time, leaving us both trapped. We ended up talking to each other, with Leliel showing us both our darker issues.

Of course, because her issues had been confronted, Arael's attack was fought off, and Armisael was taken down by all of us. Final battle was me and Asuka vs the MP Evas while Shinji chased after Rei and Gendo. After that, everyone got to live normal, happy lives. I even saved Kaji! So he was able to expose SEELE and Gendo.

...

Allow me to answer that with this: Right now I am a one-woman... thing. I've got my wife, and despite the thousands upon thousands of years we've been together and experimentation that's been quite alright.

In the process I have been blue-balling a good 60 - 70% of my companion retinue, many of whom still to this day want in my pants and to do things to me that would make Slaanesh blush.

The question has been posed to me before, and I've answered with: if I ever open the floodgates of a Harem Jumper route, I will not survive it. My Espeon has already promised to String Magic me to the wall and unload all of that tension. If I multiply that by how many Companions there are involved, that is Chain End. Bad End. No bueno.

To answer your question directly: I dunno.

You know how I said I was working on an Amazons jump? I still am, but Heavens releasing the Kabuto jump motivated me to work more.

Man-Made Monsters (-600, discount for Nozama Scientist) Well, this is certainly interesting. You now know the process behind making the monsters that this jump revolves around. It will take time, and you will need a lot of resources, but you can do it. You can bring more of these people-eating creatures into the world. With this you also gain insight into how to create the drugs that suppress the Amazons’ hunger for human flesh, if only for just two years. If you want to, you can turn yourself into an Amazon through an injection of Amazon cells like Jin did as well. You even know how to make the special chemical pesticide that Nozama Pharmacy used in Operation Tlaloc to kill off most of the remaining Amazons. It will definitely work on any Amazons you create. However, perhaps you can change that? With enough genetics knowledge from your previous adventures, you might be able to change the Amazons’ fate so that they don’t desire to feast on human flesh. Then maybe coexistence with humans wouldn’t be impossible...

I'm having trouble filling out perk trees and items in general aside from the Amazons Driver.

Speaking of tam tam how bad an idea would it be to waifu Amaterasu with a blue feather and then try and get the rest of the tamomos hitched to your third circle souls? Given what Tamomo no mae is supposed to be this would be some next level waifuing. I certainly don't plan on trying this, but it would be something to consider for the fluffy tail enthusiast out there.

That's summed up my time in Creation so far.

I started out low-key, posing as the Tony Stark of House Mnemon. I played the part of being this ditzy dillentte to cover up my intense research into Essence patterns and web of conspiracies. With a little help from the Gold Faction, I used a portal network to rescue and train newly exalted Solars in a hidden valley somewhere-all the while tampering with their re-education to be both informative and paint the Primordial War and First Age in the most immoral, unflattering light possible. I also covertly infiltrated the Guild in order to use its' resources for charity, made a contract with Gaia to develop a moss that could heal Shadowlands by growing over them, cured the Great Curse by perfecting Sun-flavored coffee, told a certain anarchic Infernal Senator about her destiny to gain her help in arranging "accidents" to tear apart the most wastefully decadent Houses and built a wall around Creation paid for with Raksha tears. The last thing I did in that jump was explain to Mnemon the reason she couldn't access the Imperial Manse was, as she'd suspected, because her motivations were insufficiently pure-and upon entering said Manse, freed the Roseblack from the Ebon Dragon's influence, paving the way for both a reunified Realm and an eventually stable handover of power to minimise casualties in the transition.

My next trip saw me bound, crippled and cast down into the depths of Malfeas for my...philosophical disagreements with the Sun. It took me an entire month to wriggle out into the Wyld. All the while, I went about giving the Yozis therapy and promising them a way out by explaining Christmas as an analogy for my plan, both of which confused most of them. A lot. I gave a lot of soulfire massages while trying to keep things professional. It...became pretty futile after I emotionally blackmailed the Sun to complete my transformation into a Primordial-Devil-Tiger hybrid.

In short, everything was surprisingly smooth sailing until my hands were taken off the tiller for ONE GODDAMN SECOND. The Fair Folk, terrified by what seed like the Primordial King's rebirth into an even stronger form catalysed by the genocide of the hannya, invaded. The Bronze Faction finally got sick of an invisible Fate anomaly screwing up their Astrology, and tried to seize back control of the Realm-which ended badly for them when most of the places they had to intervene in were mysteriously guarded by DB cohorts working together with Solars, and Mnemon used the Realm Defense Grid to fire a warning shot at the Raksha hordes. The Lion and the Bishop also put together their own plans to damn Creation-only to be mired in escaping fae, and then forced into retreat by a unified force of Solars.

Did I mention the Reclaimation almost happened? It...didn't go exactly as planned when yours truly leaked the Dragon's true goal. Even though his fellow conspirators turned on him he still briefly tasted freedom-right in front of the oncoming Solar tide, who proceeded to bind and mutilate him even harder than Adorjan was. That was an unfortunate turn of events and in no way part of my plan to counter his deception by playing the one move he would never think of: Sending a bunch of guys to rush in and start fighting.

And after all that, when I finally got back in town proper-we marched up to Yu-Shan, ignored the suddenly sycophantic divinities and proceeded to sue the shit out of Conky. Then the Surrender Oaths were rewritten to designate parole or exile rather than imprisonment, leaving most of the Yozis free to make a new life for themselves in the Wyld, or for the Renovation's leads the border of Creation.

I don't think Clock Up or Hyper Clock Up last very long from your point of view. Even if you can win a short race he beats you on long runs, being able to run around the world or empty a city as a bomb went off and all that.
>>
>>50890553
You are severely underestimating hyper clock up. Its so fast you get places before you left. Flash is faster than instant but not by that much.
>>
>>50890507
...what?
Roboanon's jumps are fairly large in file size.
Roboanon also basically never shows up unless he's building a jump or people have questions on them. Thus, he doesn't have a personality attached to him like say Worm or Heavens. I don't think he was even mentioned when people were listing off Jump makers a couple threads ago.

Nice image though.

Sidereal jumps was mostly picking up the pieces. SOMEONE has to file all the damn paperwork after the world's been saved from the brink of destruction, again. Renegotiating the Creation-Ruling Mandate with 3CDs, opening an entire Department to allow Yozis to make supervised visits to Creation, filibustering the Bronze Faction like crazy, making the Maidens jump around like chipmunks to further bamboozle Deathlord activity.

I was also doing a lot of groundwork for a important organisation at the same time: The Green Sun Kings, our name for the informal little Freemasons-style get-together I arranged with the other Infernal Exalted. We all have our separate goals and ambitions, but we all have a vested interest in strengthening Creation and serving as something the Solars alone could never be: Diplomats to the Yozis, to translate human/Yozi concepts across the divide. Mind you it's not all idealism; there's a great deal of profit to be made as a middleman, and after I shared a few tips & toys for creating their own joutens a lot of them are keen on making their own mini-Creations. Of course, none of us technically LEAD each other as a whole, just share advice on an informal meritocratic basis; whatever my own circle might say, I am merely first among equals. I've seen what rulership does to you here.

Oh, and throwing the most corrupt gods from heaven to burn up as Starmetal landing right in the Yozis' clutches. That's always a hoot.
>>
>>50890582
You can do time travel with clock up. I was just comparing the fast levels though. So perhaps "most bullshit" was poor word choice.
>>
>>50890571
Anon, Hyper Clock Up is bullshit, but comics Flash at his most bullshit is literally faster than the concept of speed. He can outrun a grim reaper that specifically exists to hunt down Speedsters, run so fast that he breaks time, and literally steal all the speed that the Hyper Clock Up user has.

When you eat an Amazon, you develop a weaker version of their abilities at one-tenths of the original’s strength. Out of jump, this applies to all supernatural beings you encounter. Be careful about who or what you try to eat though. You might be the one getting eaten instead.

Invent is a good word, hah. Mnemon and Manosque actually saw eye-to-eye on it pretty well; I used the Goldies' astrology as a model to recalibrate my prediction software, and scanned the Houses' survivors for those least likely to make trouble for the new order. We then rounded them up, and offered to issue some limited status instead of complete excommunication in exchange for swearing fealty to Creation's wellbeing and the Realm-in that order.

I eventually retrained their talents to invent new pharmaceuticals and synthetic chemicals. Turns out with enough Crafting successes, the same talents used to make magical crack can be used to make magical penicillen.

So I've been gone the past 6 threads or so due to the holidays. What's been happening with you lot?

Any new jumps?
>>
>>50890788

I'm not really aware of the connotations built up around the term since I haven't been around as much. It just seems like a perk designed to let you easily collect powers, not even at a capstone price, with a discount, and loose justification, to me, shouldn't pass. From my knowledge that comes from the perk's own text, Amazons don't have this ability. They have a similar ability and that ability or something closer to the spirit of that ability seems like the more appropriate choice.
>>
>>50890877
So, again, stop whining and fucking do it. You want better content, make it. I'm reading this right now and it very clearly shows more people are opposed to it than they are indifferent.

I'm getting the impression the only people in favor of it are hardcore fans of the setting, which I know next to nothing of from the jump. I really don't want to throw accusations of being from SB around, but I'm also getting a vibe in that direction. Something about the grammer of the most frequent supporters. >>50891161
Well, I hate to use the shitposter's terminology but that's blatent white knighting. Which is not okay.
>>
>>50891216
No, the person cannot. HOWEVER, what happens is that if the tree and person really care for each other, doesn't have to be romantic but sometimes the tree has that view of you, she'll shape one of her branches into an artifact. This artifact can be used to manifest one of her Lighthawk wings. Tenchi's grandfather's tree gave him a sword handle, which Tenchi himself sometimes uses.
>>
>>50891281
Why not deal with those major issues now when the makers are even here?
>>
>>50891282
All kinds of opportunities to doos bolt in this jump.
>>
>>50891244
I don't think you'll ever find anyone that will tell either of them to go back to SB explicitly if that's what you're looking for. There's also no way to ascertain what a majority is at this point.

The archive post asked if it was going to be accepted, you end up getting three comments against, one person bowing out entirely, one shitpost saying that 99% of the jump was good as is, one person that's fine, another that has issues but doesn't care whether it goes on or not, then one last person who literally doesn't care about the jump at all. If we take all of their comments and skew it a bit we can say that the people who don't care also support it going on the drive, the 99% shitposter is in favor, and now we have 3 against, 5 for. Still doesn't amount to much.

This is basically going to be one of those jumps where people waffle on it, some guy uploads it continuously until Brutus eventually gets tired and just puts it in.

>>50891295
The biggest issue is the way the Gamer power is done. It deals with OTB by punitively pricing the Gamer Power way more than it's worth, basically punishing you for taking the obvious shiny.

He really has to do this for now since even the more powerful options can't compete with how amazing a concept the Gamer power is. This issue won't be solvable until the Gamer webcomic and/or the author's other associated works have some other cool shit that can compete with it.
>>
>>50891329
Depends on what you consider an improvement. Some people won't like it, some people will.
>>
>>50891346
I'm honestly fed up with you people whining about wanting that power so bad, basically crying about any attempt to keep it from being in everyone's build. It's fucking irritating.
>>
>>50891338
Given that we went about half a page complaining about the damn thing i dont know how you couldnt.
>>
>>50891346
He's just digging a hole for himself by trying to overcompensate for what he feels is OTB.
>>
>>50891360
Dude I'm fine with the way he has done it, I just think that when the comic is further along and there are things that can compete with the Gamer he should add those things in and loosen the cost of the power.
>>
>>50891370
He's probably the same anon that was defending them in the argument, they had at least one or two folks who basically ignored everything negative or shit on the person who commented. There's also been at least one anon who likes to be an arrogant schmuck by insulting people about their lack of setting knowledge when commenting on the jump.
>>
>>50891394
I personally would have no issues with the Gamer set just being free and letting everybody have it. Even if it does leave the jump with a black mark, it wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for them.
>>

>>
>>50891460

>>50891468
AAAAA

- I'm not sure exactly where it would fit in, would it be worth the perk given that J'onn dies in 5 minutes in the story, and would it be right to offer it for only 800 CP? Though I am offering Lobo physiology for the same price...

I'll think about it, it's a good idea. But I'm not sure how it'll work as regards balance.
>>
>>50891421
When the webcomic and/or the author's other associated works enough content so that there are other things that can compete with the Gamer would you be willing to add those things to the jump and remove the punitive pricing for the power?

The jump is a good one for where the comic is now but it has a long way to go, if you are willing to eventually return to it it should satisfy the people who have an issue with the way it is done now. Including me.
>>
>>50891481
Having a celestial exaltation is comparable to being a level 29 d&d wizard. Id say the idea of there being chain breaking powerlevels havent really existed for a long time outside of lel omnipotence or options to travel between jumps
>>
>>50891444
Because right now as far as he knows, this is the only real selling point to the jump. You can tell just by the way the other caps are exaggerated that he's tried to compensate heavily. But it doesn't change the fact that he's in a pinch.

If somebody else does make a jump with a way to get the Gamer for cheap like a Death March jump or something, then this price jack will backfire because of how niche the ability is. If he made it cheap right now, somebody is bound to shitpost just because. It's a black mark either way.
>>
>>50891495
I'd say it's balanced by their completely horrible weakness to fire vs other races and the fact that psycho Superman is a thing.

Also, maybe give people the option to purchase a Yellow Ring instead of a Green one, given how prominent they and Sinestro are.

I'm giving discounts on them, based on which race was most appropriate to it. For instance, Lobo physiology was most appropriate to the Drop-in tree because Lobo is the epitome of a drop-in in this - he arrives for a fight, has no stake whatsoever in any of the conflict, then fucks off to a different place.

Right now, I'm not sure on how to do this, you're right. I'm basing it off of canon examples and logic - most green martians that experienced the tyranny of the whites wouldn't be too happy to help superman, so I might make it discounted for the insurgency. But I'm not sure.
>>
>>50891574
How much of the comic are you delving into by the way? It got pretty involved in the mystical side of DC in Year 3 and 4.
>>50891582
Not in Injustice. Jonn seems more vulnerable to it than in the main comics.
>>
>>50891599
>no matter what
There's perks for that.
>>
Would it be a bad idea to include the existence of my out of context powers in my origin's history in a world?

IE say that my origin self in Incredibles for example had some of the OOC powers I'm bringing into the jump before the jump started.
>>
>>50891618
It doesn't really matter when removing it turns you into a Burning Martian regardless senpai.
>>
>>50891656
Depends on what kind of powers you're considering.
>>
>>50891639
Don't know if it's been brought up yet, but will there be anything to be a Shazam clone? I really want to go full Black Adam.
>>
>>50891618
Fire weakness is real, I'll keep that much for balance's sake. And no "burning martian" bits either.

>>50891641
>How much of the comic are you delving into by the way? It got pretty involved in the mystical side of DC in Year 3 and 4.

I'm going to do what I can to bring in the good stuff from all years. Ares armor, etc. Problem is that writing quality wasn't so great for those years.

>>50891666
I wonder why, Satan.

And I'll think about it.
>>
>>50891656
Well usually your origin didnt have any of your stuff before you enter the jump. Cosmic fact from marvel might help with that though. Not sure if it works after the jump is over or not.
>>
>>50891656
Depends, do you or do you not want people to know about them? Because part of what makes OOC powers so great is that they're...well, OOC. Now I myself have done similar things before, so I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just saying that you might want to keep an eye on what information is immediately available.

So on that martian bit -

Right now I'm having trouble deciding what perkline to associate it with. Should I do it with the origin "Former hero" (Encompassing both Insurgency and Regime superheros, former members of the league, leaving Jumper to decide their own allegiance - both Flash and GA etc.) or the allegiance "Insurgency" (Bats and his rebellion - you will be able to pick both an origin and an allegiance).

Either way, it would be 800 CP - should I do it another way, perhaps by leaving it out of the perklines? Someone mentioned that it's a race, and most jumps with races would leave it out accordingly - but this would be just changing your physiology, no prior memories, etc.

Any and all feedback appreciated.
>>
This is the one from SB's drive. Is it the most recent?
>>
>>50891700
I do want people to know about them, my issue is with the consequences that can come with pulling powers out of my hat.

In some jumps the ability to do so is a tactical advantage but in some of them having all my powers included in my backstory could save a great deal of drama.

Such as revealing that I have a few dozen extra powers my parents didn't know about in Incredibles.
>>
>>50891747
Maybe have it be Drop-In like Lobo? They'd both be aliens from outside of earth?
>>

>>

Oh please. They were going to do that to begin with.
>>
>>50891775
Hmm. 2 800 CP capstones per origin. Interesting idea, but one that would require a lot more perks. And it would fuck up my perfect 1 page/perkline formatting.

J'onn has much more prior investment - he doesn't just show up for a fight and then fuck off, he stays and dies for what he believes in. Lobo believes in nothing.

Maybe do a separate racial section with some discounted to backgrounds. Green Martians for Insurgency, White for Former Hero, Lobo for Drop in, etc.
>>
>>50891570
>I do intend to update the jump, yes. So if something that generates as much WANT as the gamer power shows up, i'll definitely consider nerfing the current price.
In that case I'm one less person who'll be REEEEing about this particular issue, if that means anything.
>>
>>50891805
That's true but you're not J'onn ans seeing as he was the only Martian on earth (I'm assuming) you'd be someone else just showing up out of nowhere.

Just a suggestion. Go with what you think is best.
>>
>>50891815
The involvement of white martians in all this was ... limited, to my understanding, and I certainly can't think of any on the League.

It's an interesting idea to be sure, and one I'll think on more.
>>
>>50891815
I think this is probably the best way to do it. Have a separate racial section. Capstones shouldn't be mutually exclusive, generally speaking and races are a weird thing to have as perks.

That's pretty much a toss up between Okuda and Lina. For /entirely/ different reasons that can't be discussed on a blue board.

>>50890198
Raven initially joined because I gave her a sense of stability and family that a rotating roster of friends and fellow superheroes never could. I think she liked knowing that no matter what, she could depend on me being there for her.

Lina was initially drawn to me because the Coordinator thought it would be amusing to turn a WW2 alternate history jump into a harem comedy. She stayed because I fostered a sense of adventure in our daily life together and because, frankly, I need her. She handles the hundreds of small details in plans and daily life that I would simply just forget until it is too late. I think she likes feeling needed.

Okuda is the latest addition and, well, basically used my physical relationship combined with her discovery of my Jumper nature as leverage to come along. I'm not quite sure why she's staying though. She already has the power she initially claimed to want and asking her directly leads to no real answers at all. For all I know she could just be in it for the lewds. She is a rabbit-person after all. Ah well, She'll tell me eventually, I'm sure.

Good point, though I'm hoping to make them have some logical correlation to factions. Thanks for the encouragement, regardless.

>>50891858
Okay, that's fair. Compensation for there just being 3 origins, I guess. Although I would have thought allegiance perk and item lines would do it in that regard.

Some jumps go a bit differently than you expect. Sometimes you get more out of a jump than you ever expected. It’s funny really I did my best to help everyone to teach the kids and help them become better people, but no matter how much I gave I think I gained more out of it than them.

It started out as something that was supposed to be an Edutanement Science show but grew. It was rough at first because of that but I decided to do things how I wanted. We tweaked the set so it was a bit more homey and I got to interact with the kids, sing with them, tell stories, I even got to invite guests…

I got to see my brother Adam Jensen again. He stuck out like a sore thumb but the kids thought he was cool and I had missed him so much I couldn’t put in to words. By the way he talked about not talking to strangers and such but it was just good to have him there.

We also tackled some harder subjects, Bullying, Divorce, loss of loved ones…. I did a few shows for School shooting victims but they never made it to the air. It was more to help those poor kids who had been traumatized. I would often take topic from letters the kids wrote in. Some were quite heart breaking honestly.

I also visited with Sick kids in hospitals… a few of my letters came from there… not just magicing away their problems was the hardest thing I have ever done. I gave them little charms enchanted to enhance their luck and health (I cheated a little) but sadly I couldn’t attract too much attention.

(to be continued)
>>
>>50891932
Eventually my time was coming to an end, I tried to hide it but I was a bit sad and I remember they wanted to give me an award for it. As I sat back stage an older gentlemen in a sweater who looked familiar but I couldn’t place it. He told me that he had seen my show and he had loved it. He told me he used to do a children’s show too and he knew how tough it was to walk away from it, However he told me that sometimes the time comes for one reason or another to move on but the work we had done would live on in the hearts of the children that saw us for decades to come.

I looked away because someone came to tell me I would be on in a couple minutes and when I looked back he was gone. As I walked out there I saw this wall of previous winners of this award, they had pictures of them with the award; I was stunned when I saw the man up there. More stunned that I hadn’t recognized him. Mr. Rogers apparently had paid me a visit to tell me job well done.

And a revised day three to go with it.
>>
>>50891977
Right now, origins are

drop-in (Explains itself)

Reformed Villain (both sides employed former villains - and both of them did it mostly due to desperation)

Former hero (Former members of the justice league and other organizations that are now forced to choose between the regime and insurgency.)

Allegiances are just the standard Insurgency and Regime right now, can't see that changing unless I do a massive update for injustice 2, but that's months away.

>>50891997

If you're coauthoring, this isn't the kind of decision that one author should dictate, especially if you don't have much of a presence here to begin with.
>>
>>50892039
And as regards races - I think I've got a race powerful enough for each origin and allegiance, bar one. That would be Czarnians:Drop-in/Martians: insurgency/Atlanteans: former hero/Amazons: Regime. Can't think of a good one for reformed villains or of a way to deal with their inherent imbalance.

Question
Which jumps are the best for creating a character that could conceivably exist in that jump's source material as a character? (i.e as a side character, or a mentor, or something, without OCP)
Assume you're using that doc and that doc alone, drawbacks may exist but they probably should be treated as character traits/backstory rather than something inflicted on the character

also it's surprisingly hard to find a picture of a "good"(visibly quality) OC so have this instead

How far can I push Rainmaker Kid in recreating and improving Identification Eye from Mushoku Tensi? Ideally, I'd like it to work on perception in general (esoteric included), and give RPG type info on anything including items, effects, and people.

It is perception based, but it seems more rainmaker (not directly combat related) than misc. meta.

Is this below/at/above Rainmaker Kid level, with or without the drawback boost?

>>50892000
Well aint that a doorstopper. Its going to take a while to get through this. After a auick skim it looks like theres way too many sub sections. Thats not really a bad thing, but it does make building a pain in the ass to not miss anything. Kind of like how upgrading the ship in lot got tedious. Im sure some like it like that though. Also the ottsel "drawback" should definitely become an altform after the jump is over. The one that makes your companions ottsels as well shouldnt make them feral and should also be an altform. If not that then it should at least be up for purchase.
>>
>>50892073
Normal Amazons and Atlanteans are just street level superhumans aren't they?
>>
>>50892039
Hmm... So you have Drop-in, Reformed Villain, Former hero.

Your mileage may vary, but there might be enough variation between the former heroes and current heroes from the alternate universe to consider making that a line of its own. Uncorrupted and above-ground, compared to the others as shadows of their former selves.

Naruto probably.
>>
>>50892122
Noted. no feral, altform. Amalur felt the multiple sections seemed to be the only way to handle Metalhead origin, guns, and racers and I concurred.
>>
>>50892133
I plan on making the jump start the day after Superman kills the joker, and those guys don't show up for 5 years. Further, having an origin centering around coming in from an alternate universe with no prior history or contamination that ISN'T drop-in feels a bit meta for me.

>>50892125
From my understanding, they're far above. You would have wonder woman/ aquaman tier powers, regardless - I'm just not sure whether they'd be worth the same as Lobo and if not, what I do about it.
>>
>>50892090
That's kind of my point. It's just like Circle of Magic where there's clear favortism for some of the trees, and some perks and items don't even have their descriptions complete because she never cared for it, and she never bothered to read past the first book.

I have to wonder if she did the research this time or if she just glanced and made shit up as she went along. The whole jump is unwieldy and only someone who's played the games will understand even half of the terms.

>>50892122
Yeah, that's what I meant by the whole jump being clunky as hell. It's not even fun sections like dirge's jumps, SJ's jump just reads like a bland user manual with all the important tidbits taken out.

>>50892170
>I'm not seeing any tables at all.

Honestly I fanwank it. I don't really give them perks or anything--I make them like I would with any other character.

For example, when I made Queen Stellarina for the Hero BBS jump, she was literally just a Queen I had to save. But I started thinking more and more about her role in the world. Why was she kidnapped? Who kidnapped her? Why was I summoned to save her?

I based my answers on the idea that Queen Stellarina was a wise queenly ruler, who knew much about magic. Why would someone want to kidnap a wise ruler, beloved by her people? Unless her rule didn't benefit someone with lots of power, like the nobles.

So, I came to the conclusion that she was lessening the power of the nobles and they didn't like that one bit. So they kidnapped her and turned her to stone and shoved her in a basement because she really couldn't be killed without someone finding the body.

You have to ask yourself questions and answer them, and base your answers around the concept of the character.

Off the top of my head I think Bayonetta, Dresden Files, Resident Evil, both Dark Souls jumps, the Eldar jump, Sunless Sea and Fallen London have good options for that. Technically Infernals, the Mortal Gauntlet, Dragonblooded, and Sidereals too, because of how past lives stored on the Exaltations work.

At least, Fair Eyes being Brigid reincarnated kinda explains to me how early she Exalted.

>>50892110
I don't know how outdated this is, but I vaguely remember PS238's Misc. Meta powers being around Spider Man street-level, and Rainmaker Kid having more lattitude for a specific, non-combat focus.

It's been a while, though, and I'm definitely not an expert by any means. But I think that sounds fine.

>>50892091
Hero BBS, pokemon, and any other jumps are good where magic stuff is commonplace is a good start to finding settings to make OCs that way.

>>50892185
Depends on their showings in Injustice. Generally Lobo and Diana can at least put up a fight against Superman, but Aquaman is totally outclassed. So I feel like he'd be worth a bit less.
>>
>>50892251
>So is there going to be magic in this, too?
I doubt it, he'll probably base it on Aquaman who doesn't use magic. It's just that Atlanteans are descended from the original Homo Magi, so they have the same magic potential.
>>
>>50892185
Wonder Woman and Aqua Man should be worth less than being a Kryptonian, Martian, or Lobo's race.

Wonder Woman is as strong as Superman or Lobo but far less durable and Aqua Man should be the weakest of any of them even when including his water/sealife powers.

>>50892208

The megaman jumps are fucking amazing.
I have two characters who I balanced for an RP by using Classic and X. (Hilariously, the character created with X was the 'son' of the Classic character, who was a doctor.)
I feel like the Exalted jumps work because they're lore-focused Tabletop jumps. I think any well-made tabletop jump feels like that simply cause tabletop already accomodates it.
Forgotten Realms and that retarded attempt at a Pathfinder 'generic'

I was thinking that some superhero jumps might do a good job depending on if they have a wide array of abilities rather than simply taking canon character powersets as purchasable.

I try with my Neo-heisei jumps but it is also easy with drawbacks to be a character who would only really fit in one of the Movies where they can play fast and loose with powersets and how they combo. Still, I try with the OC belts at least.

Madara "Wall of Upgrades" Uchiha justifies most of those bloodline fusion things. At some point you're probably just a genetic experiment by ninja scientists though.

Madara only has Uchiha and Senju stuff though. Almost all his upgrades aren't from bloodlines.

You're encouraged by discounts to only go for two to three bloodlines, which is consistent with the story. The combined element ones are bland enough that I don't consider it special snowflake-y to have them either, the fourth Kazekage I think she's called has three of those herself.

Things start to get weirder when you get 4+ bloodlines, not counting the elemental ones. That amount isn't common in canon, but at that point you're paying full price so it's on you.

Strong Soul from Anima: Beyond Fantasy for spiritual regen, and Solipsistic Integrity from Evangelion although the latter depends on you being in a good state of mind as well.

>To be fair Supes is a terrible fighter. He's a farm boy with powers.
That's not true. Superman fights people just as strong as he is all the time. He started out as a poor fighter, sure, but by now he's had to learn to fight smart. Pre-Flashpoint, he actually was a master of several martial arts. Post-Flashpoint he's less formally trained, but is still skilled enough to take out superhumans stronger and tougher than him by taking advantage of pressure points, joint locks, and leverage. Meanwhile, if you gave Batman the powers of Superman, he'd be a shitty fighter, since he wouldn't have the years of experience with superhuman strength and speed that Clark does and would be constantly overextending himself. Probably killing lots of people in the process, since it's only those years of training that allow Superman to punch unpowered people without exploding them.
>>

I'm extremely happy to be making it. Injustice is one of my favorite "so bad it's good" comics.

And I do plan on making a Shazam option - but just because his feats are so poorly-defined, I can't see myself making a Superman option. The potential for Powerwank is just too high. It really is.

>>50892556
Superboy, Con-el. He got thrown in the phantom zone with half of the teen titans - that is, the half that didn't die.

>>
>>50892597

Not only is it chain-breaking, but it's extremely meta to boot.
>>
>>50892518
Yes. Not because they'll care that the people are dead. They hate those guys, they're fine with them being dead. I mean, some of them will feel guilty over being so happy their enemies are dead, Superman certainly will. But he won't actually care too much that Lex is dead, his empathy only extends so far. The reason they'll be upset is because the League very firmly believes in the rule of law, and you performing extrajudicial executions flies in the face of all that. The League exists in a political and diplomatic grey zone where they can only operate so long as the world isn't too scared of them. Having some superhuman running around playing judge, jury and executioner risks scaring the major world powers, and that never ends well. Sooner or later they're going to do something stupid that escalates to a big dumb fight that they don't want to get into. You're tipping over the chessboard, and while you might think it's worth it to clear off all the enemy pieces, ours are going to fly off, too. Don't do it. Just use your OOC powers and knowledge to actually get a death sentence passed on these assholes, let the legal process work as it should without them managing to sneak out of the noose, and the world gets to go on believing that there's value in giving order and structure to society.

To be fair given how comics work if someone kills a villain then thats a sign that they're going to go insane and conquer the world for it's own good/kill jaywalkers. They're just responding it to based on how it tends to go in their own world.

The Green Lantern corps did use to have a no killing rule hardcoded into their rings but they now allow lethal force I think. The Lanterns in charge of earth would probably object but the guardians would probably be ok with it if you go for the chaotic evil ones.

Exactly. This is the thing people often forget when they're trying to do "realistic" takes on comic book politics and law. The superheroes have decades of experience with the world working a certain way. Like, Civil War. A lot of people thought the idea of a superhero registration was reasonable, make these people have to take more legal accountability. But in-universe, every single time the government has gotten information about a superhero, it has gone badly for that superhero. The anti-registration side has no reason to think it won't, this time. Same with heroes killing villains. If every single time a hero kills a villain, it's a precursor to them going mad with power and becoming a villain themselves, wouldn't you be pretty jumpy about it?

>Pit Crew [100-300]: You may import 2 companions for 100 CP, 4 for 200 CP, or 8 for
300 CP. Each companion gains a background of their choice free, plus CP equal to
twice what you spent on Pit Crew. You may spend more CP than you need to import
companions. They cannot buy discounts or items with these points

First why are items restricted?

Second what does it mean when its saying companions cannot buy discounts?

Finally I agree with other anons that the origins seem slightly unbalanced. As it stands now the Sage origin is the best origin. I would recommend having the Sage origin cost 200CP because the majority of its perks are ridicuoulsy useful.

For Drop In Perhaps you can move Eco Warrior to this origin to make it more like Jak is in the first game, And also buffing or further explaining many of the perks. Maybe giving Jump Fu a powerful martial artist and tougher body allowing them to match even the giant metal heads in melee.

One of the confusing things about this jump is your reference of eco charges in the Sage perks and items, I'd recommend to a more vague "you start out with only a weak ability to use this eco, unless you took Long Term Exposure. Then say that you can improve upon your ability to hold eco with training and discipline.

You probably should also block getting either Light or Dark eco powers as sage, restricting it instead to the Eco Experimental origin, because there was no Light Eco Sage and the Dark Eco Sages were insane.

Considering that the Guard are pretty much at the top of the food chain and are constantly fighting metal heads and rebels in the Jak and Daxter verse you also should give them the same discount on guns that you have for experimentals and Spartus citizens.

It looks good but it needs a bit more tweaking to make it excellent.

Hal, not Kyle. Kyle was good enough at maintaining constructs that his ring couldn't be taken off of him even in his sleep. Something about making it so that he couldn't filter out images and would randomly create constructs to the point of uselessness, I think.

Thats fair, I guess. Though, is that a 'you can't do it' or a 'you can't do it via cp'?

Also, demi servants seem to have lower energy costs, because they borrow a body, but that also makes them physically weaker. And if the servant isn't in control, then the person probably won't know how to actually do anything.

So, ups and downs.
>>
>>50892912
A Madoka Jump would be most interesting once the witches get replaced with wraiths. You'd have original content for stuff then.
>>
>>50893226
As always, it's just that you can't do it with CP/SP. If you figure out some way to do it in universe, more power to you, it'll just be without any sort of fiat support.

For now, the only planned new types of Servants for the supplement will be Alter, Lily and maybe Living/Incarnated. That's just for SN and Zero though so I'll add others as I go through the jumps they fit in.
>>
>>50892771
Not her, but a lot of jumps restrict companions from buying items. Why should they be allowed to?

>>
>>50893298
>Why should they be allowed to?
Why shouldn't they be allowed to?
>>
>>50893311
It's an easy way to just import a bunch of companions and then have them buy all the items for you, effectively meaning you're getting many times more cp worth of items then you're paying for?
>>
>>50893238
And obviously I doubt I'd be allowed to kee any of it...

Oh. Hmmm. What do you think would happen if I used the demi process to put archer in shirou?

The artist may have had not been clear. Because I swear, Hal normally has brown hair.

Also, if you end up using Amazons, you could balance them against other races by offering a discount or freebie on magic items to make up for their comparably bad durability.
>>
>>50893368
Not without things from other jumps.
>>
>>50893427
So? You're being meta here, let's double down on that. An insistence that imported companions be naked because oh no someone might steal their girlfriend's sword is just controlling.
>>
>>50893388
shh
let the anon work
>>
>>50893395
I think I'll use Amazons, as I can't think of a reason not to. Compared to the other races on offer, though, I can't see a marked weakness in durability.

Most people talk about the atlanteans, and I might axe them, just because of that. Alternatively, I could buff them, considering that Aquaman summons the Kraken several times and Mera kicks ass with waterbending.

Still not sure about the Superman option, but looking at the bullshit he gets up to in this jump, I'm still inclined to say no. Might include half-kryptonian for reformed villain race, just based off of Bizarro and Doomsday. Of course, making it relevant to them would provide mandatory drawbacks, which are usually shit. We'll see. Either way, I'm sleeping now, so I won't see replies till morning/noon. Hopefully noon.
>>
>>50893328
This is only a problem if an item skews the balance, and honestly most of the time it's more of a hassle than it's worth since half the things you buy you probably won't end up using.

Why do you say that? When I mention not getting any sort of fiat support, I mean things like you podding some other Servant during the jump that you did not get from the jump. You can pod them if you want but they don't automatically get alive, human bodies or any other free benefit at the end of the jump.

>What would happen
Not really sure. It's been a while since I read up on what Demi Servants are so i'm not all that clear on it but I imagine with the memory leak thing on top, it'd probably just turn into EMIYA but alive, with not much of Shirou left.
>>
>>50893460
>Mera kicks ass with waterbending.
Isn't Mera not actually an Atlantean, though? I mean, besides nationality obviously.

"Fine fine fine! I just wanna get out already it's been like a month."
Johhny Cage fell to the ground as his body transformed. After only a few moments there stood the spirit of the devil, J'u'mper.
"I'M GOING TO WATCH ANIME FOR THRITY HOURS STRAIGHT!" Laughing like a madman the dark spirit of evil leapt onto a flaming motorcycle and sped off towards a video store.

The cashier of the grocery store was pale. "H-here's your change sir."

"Hey Johnny you mind if I drive for a while?"
The open roads of texas stretched out for miles in every direction. With only a moments pause for thought Johnny Blaze let go and I flowed in. Like a flaming rocket we poured into the night.

The other riders were fast. I was a hair faster though. All manner of mounts blasted over the rocky terrain towards a distant goal. My chain lashed out catching the flaming dinosaur on my tail with a lick of blue fire. The skeletal t-rex roared as it stumbled. First thing I'm doing is quickly memorizing the engineer's notes before handing them off to Dawn. That gives her enough to flood the planet good and ensure that there won't be as much land for me to explore in the future. Albert gets 10 resources, enough to stabilize the climate. Karl doesn't need any, I'm capable of introducing a fully functional Zerg ecosystem to produce nutrilisks as the ideal food source for colonists. Saitou, Marie, and Will all get energy resources and... hmm, guess I can dump 5 onto Karl anyway. Have fun with that Zerg DNA buddy! I'll just resurrect all the dead crew members, then wonder out into the wilderness to explore and leave the trolls in charge of running the facility, incidentally growing plant life with Page of Life powers as I go.

When I arrive back, I discover the new island, which isn't much but at least it'll be a nice addition to Nomanisan, which I guess is technically the Nomanisan Archipelego now. Then, after I've sped through exploring Aqua, I'll start my real vacation by flying to back to Manhome and crushing its governments beneath my heel. 20 years! Two whole decades to spend ruling the same planet! I feel so excited that I barely even care that I'm on another version of Earth again. I'll get to clean up the pollution and actually follow a whole generation as it grows up through my rulership! I have so many economic development plans that I wanted to test out the long term consequences of, I don't even know which ones to try.

OK so in a practical guide to evil...

there's this Take aspect in the suplement.

Its a 10-use power-steal.

But the wording seems finicky...

What does it say the taken stuff burns out?

Like are the powers ten slots for temporary powers? Ten slots and that's it? Taking something stronger than what a Name would give eventually erodes the taken thing back to Name range, say taking [STRENGHT] from a broken Toriko animal (Bambina) would make me as strong, but eventually weaken down to Name range?
>>
For jumpers who have been to Doctor Who, what was your reaction when have you heard the following phrase: EX-TER-MIN-ATE!
>>
>>50893622
I believe the way it works is that you have unlimited slots, but only ten uses of each slotted power. And things that are very strong wear down to Name range quickly, so you'd get one or two uses at full power before the rest were reduced.
>>
I'm made Eco Experiemental and Metalhead Infultrator into "Background Modifiers", moved every EE item into the undiscounted section, moved Eco Warrior to Temporal Castaway, rolled Wonky Momentum into Jump Fu, gave Krimzon Guard a boosted exchange rate, removed the companion lockout on item purchasing, added a clarification to Arena Yourowna, added Flut Flut Bird, boosted Crashproof a bit.

This means that Eco Experimental can be tacked on to any origin and isn't specifically an origin in and of itself, which makes better canonical sense, since Jak is both EE and Temporal Castaway. Thanks for the feedback, now I'm going to bed/
>>
>>50893726
>Arena Yourowna
>Still meta and goes to other jumps for no reason

Nice to see you just drop and run, rather then deal with things.
>>
>>50893745
Arena Yourowna doesn't go to other jumps. At best, it creates copies of people you've known in past jumps so they can fight for you amusement. You can't recruit them or harvest them. At best you can fight them for the fun of fighting them. How is this a problem?
>>
>>50893778
Some people just don't like stuff like that. I do, because I'd enjoy fighting some of my old friends, rivals and enemies, but others will not.
>>
>>50893778
And how is that justified by the setting?
>>
>>50893796
>>50893807

I think it's a fun thing to have and doesn't break anything by being there. Yes, it's a bit meta, but Jak appears in Playstation Allstars where he can fight people from other canons. Including Raiden, Big Daddy, Dante, Isaac Clarke, Kratos, Rachet, Sackboy, Sly...
>>
>>50893807
What does it hurt having an option to to fight old opponents hurt the chain? All the ways to abuse it seem to have been blocked off.

Yes, SJ-Chan has made dumb meta options in the past, but that's no reason to prevent her from putting otherwise fine meta options in all jumps forever.
>>
>>50893745
>and goes to other jumps for no reason
How about because people don't like buying these they won't eventually be able to use? Far from unreasonable.
>>50893807
How about all of the jumps that offer attachments which also cannot justify it in setting? How about all those that do that and for free while this is a 600CP purchase?

You're both just being vindictive.

>>50893842

>>
>>50893726
Other than the tables for days i dont think theres really anything wrong with it. It would be nice if drawbacks were in ascending order though. Id really recommend reposting all of your jumps in a day or two though. Those bans have almost worn off and im sure those people want to give feedback too.

Also im pretty sure the guy angry aboit the arena is just salty. Its really not a big deal.
>>
>>50893855
Dude. People add options to other jumps based off of fanfiction or unofficial mods.
>>
>>50893865
Oh. I will. There's a reason this jump is listed as being 0.2. It's not a version 1 yet... It's missing stuff... I thought I had put the drawbacks in order. Shit. I'll fix that.
>>
>>50893807
It's not. It's another case of making something that's skinned with some vague justification from a setting and shoving it in. The entire jumps a mess.

And yet again with a jump that SJ-Chan is involved with, there is absolutely zero feel of the actual setting involved.

>>50893726
If I hadn't played the games growing up I would have zero context for all of this, and at this point I've given up on that ever changing.

The fact that you couldn't even bother to type of a basic intro and waved it off with just "yada yada 1000cp" really sums up your jumpmaking in a nutshell.

It's all perks and effects that you think are "fun" which do nothing to capture the actual damn setting, which as I'm typing this you're confirming it here >>50893842 that you're aware of this.

If you want to make jumps then make them of the actual damn settings and not just a checklist of things you think are neat. I can't even call this a Jak and Daxter Jump. It was one of the funnest game series I've ever played and you have captured literally none of the personality of it, despite how much you've bloated this thing.

The arena isn't the main issue here, there are similar options like it in other places.
Please don't get caught up in something this small just because SJ-chan did it.
The jump still has issues, the Racers and Temporal Castaways still are kind of shafted in comparison to the other origins in terms of perks and there's of course still some problems with the jump matching the tone of the source material

But the arena is hardly the biggest problem.
>>
>>50893885
The jump isn't finished. She said it wasn't finished when she posted it the first time.
>>
>>50893885
Just just just damn damn damn
>>
>>50893896
Well yeah, it still needs work. It's a WIP.
>>
>>50893896
Well certain origins in certain setting are going to be fucking worse. Like all of the Star Wars jumps (save KotOR) if you don't pick Jedi/Force Sensitive. If you choose to be a literal level 100 peasant over a literal level 100 wizard that's your own fucking fault. They make sense enough to have them there. Sure they can be improved though.
>>
>>50893921
It's nice to see someone prove they're just mindlessly defending SJ.
>>
>>50893885
>>50893898

It is a WIP, Yes, which is why focusing on what makes it feel not 'right' about it is probably more important than quibbling over specific perks.
Fluff/tone is probably the biggest thing I think people could agree on that needs some polish though I'm not 100% sure on what direction that'd take.
Making all the perklines equally appealing in some fashion is important too on a mechanical level.
>>
>>50893896
Don't see how the Racers or Castaways are any worse than the Citizens or the Guards. Only the Sage is better, and it costs to be a sage.
>>
>>50893935
Yeah a lot of the caps are kinda bland
>>

Not every jumpmaker will be able to capture the feel of a setting, and many jumpmakers run into trouble when it comes to doing fluff. If there were other people making Jak and Daxter and there were other jumps to compare against in order to accept one, you might have a valid point, but at the moment honestly it's the best we've got.

People have mentioned before that SJ-Chan does not write fluff well. Lost Odyssey had people mentioning that, her other jumps put out recently had people mentioning that. Some people just can't do it to meet your expectations, you have to come to terms with that.
>>
>>50893955
>not every jumpmaker
So obviously SJ shouldn't bother trying amirite?

It seems to be less can't write fluff well and much more doesn't bother to write fluff at all most of the time.
>>
>>50893885
Not just this >>50893955 but you should keep in mind that there are already folks who have said that this jump is great. You might have higher standards, but clearly not everyone shares your standards.
>>
>>50893955
>Some people just can't do it to meet your expectations

Here's the thing: There's a limit. When enough people agree the fluff isn't done well enough, a majority disliking it is an entirely valid reason to invalidate a jump from the drive.

Personally I think this whole song and dance is vaguely pointless when SJ isn't even aiming to release it for our drive. SJ wants to make whatever for SB, I am more than okay with that because we don't, and shouldn't have to, deal with it here.
>>
>>50893955
I don't need fluff. If I want fluff, I'll play the game or watch a lets play. I want a jump that has interesting stuff to buy and is mostly balanced. I say mostly because most jumps are only mostly balanced.

>>50893971
Good! Some jumps are too damned log as it is. Digger's jumps are freaking books. Cats does jumps that are nice and short without fluff.
>>
>>50893934
Could care less about the bitch. It's a matter of fact. Plenty of cases of it.
>>
>>50893979
And judging by how many have said it's bad and pointed out the issues, not everyone thinks it's as good as you do. Plenty of people seem to have higher standards, not just this one guy.
>>
Aaaaaaand it's another "SJ-Chan Drops A Jump And Everybody's Angry" episode.
>>
>>50893979
I only noticed one guy repeatedly and constantly saying things like "this is great" without giving any explaination for it. It's coming to the point where it's blatent white knighting.

>>50893988
Some folks are complaining the customisation section below is way too big.
>>
>>50893988
Calling out Digger specifically instead of someone actually known for length make it obvious you're baiting.

It was obvious you were baiting SJ with your NO THIS ISN'T ALLOWED REEE bullshit, but then when people thought you went too far you started attacking all criticism of her. It's clear that you're trying to play both sides just so there's shit going on because your Christmas was ruined because we had fun.
>>
>>50893971
I don't think that's true. Comparing this to her other jumps, it's all about the same, which leads me to think that this is the level of fluff that she thinks is adequate. Some people probably agree with her as well that what's written right now is good.

If you're asking her to write more and it just ends up feeling even more forced in than before, that just bloats it up further for no reason. SB already had the discussion where people emphasized more fluff doesn't always have any use, so that might come into it as well.
>>
>>50893985
I'm curious as to what you think good fluff would be. To me the perk descriptions are already bloated with character feats and setting references.

I'm speaking as someone who knows nothing about Jak and Daxter, so tell me what I need to know about this setting that the perks and item descriptions aren't.
>>
>>50894005
Can you believe she honestly thinks she's doing a good thing when this happens every time?
>>
>>50894026
It'd happen without you but you're here to ensure it's as vicious and confused as you can make it, huh?
>>
>>50894021
Lord of Light, Okami, Dresden Files are all good examples.

I'm sorry to say I don't know anymore about J&D than you. All I do know is that this jump hasn't really told me more, unllike the others I listed.
>>
>>50894020
And maybe the multitude of people complaining about the flavour as is mean that either more fluff or DIFFERENT fluff is in need? Because there's a whole bunch of people not happy with the tone of the fluff, even excluding those complaining about the amount of it.
>>
>>50893997
Tallying up a body count isn't going to help. It didn't help with Gamer, it isn't going to help here. If this ends up with the jump being invalidate, that's fine, but SJ has gone on record for saying she's eventually going to get this put onto the drive >>50892067

If the majority dislike was just because of one perk that would be easy to fix. No one has a clue what an acceptable level of fluff is. If we go by >>50893988 here the jump is already perfect as far as that goes, even if he's baiting like a shitter.
>>
>>50894060
I guess she'll need to put in some actual effort to make it feel like the game then huh? If she didn't want that, maybe she shouldn't have picked up a classic game many people played as kids and still remember fondly.
>>
>>50894018
To be fair, he could have meant dirge_ and said Digger.
>>
>>50894035
Fucking this.

I oppose SJ bringing her work here. I think, in all sincerity, going to SB was the best thing that could have happened to her because for better or worse, their standards differ from ours by a wide margin. I would have absolutely no problem if SJ didn't for some contrived reason seemingly need absolutely everyone on the internet to tell her what a good job she's doing instead of working within the norms of a specific ommunity like everyone else. There are plenty of SB natives I appreciate (Cracker Jack, Anon Heart etc) and they work well within our conventions, and they respond quickly to feedback and questions.

Now that said? Flipping out at her for it achieves nothing except give that one twat who cheers on everything she does the illusion of having a point.

All I've ever done is state, simply and clearly, why I dislike her work and why I don't think it should go on the drive.

At the end of the day, after all the bluster. If enough people say no, it doesn't go on.

It's that simple.
>>
Honestly sj-chan you should have let amalur do this. At the very least you should both be here so that feedback isnt split. But really it kind of feels like you hijacked this jump. I know you probably didnt but this set up of uploading co written jumps alone clearly isnt working.
>>
>>50894072
If she or Amalur wanted to do it, there was nothing stopping them. Plenty of people on IRC knew that Amalur was doing this with her, they had plenty of time to tell him what was needed. You can blame both of them for not putting up the WIP sooner, but the only change would have been a shitstorm earlier rather than later. Conveniently for SJ-Chan the lore was apparently all written up by Amalur and only edited by her, so at least you can ask Amalur to rewrite it.

I've long since stopped caring about her jumps, since every time she drops one it's exasperating as high hell, but when it comes to something as vague as fluff I really don't know where people can base their comments from. Many of us likely had different perceptions of the franchise.
>>

>>
>>50894077
My post doesn't support your shit.

You're the autist who attacks all criticism of her too. You're doing your damnedest to confuse the argument again.
>>
I figure that the shitposter has a special grudge against SB because he thinks they can serve as a sort of 'life line' that prevents his ultimate goal of killing us.
>>
>>50894060
>If this ends up with the jump being invalidate, that's fine

Yeah, at this point this is the only part I care about anymore.

She asks for this to be put on the drive, I'll say no.

These arguments just go in circles long after everyone's made the points they need. In the final analysis, I don't think SJ's done a good enough job with informing me about the setting and I disagree with her more creative decisions.

>>50894116
I'm not the autist. Check IPs, do what you have to if you want the proof. I don't know what to say here.

I'm literally just saying why I criticise her.

I've never attacked criticism of her before now. I'm only doing so because I'm tired of the bickering in her wake.
>>
>>50894037
I think I have a fairly good grasp of what's going on from the jump. There were precursors a long time ago who used Eco energy for magitech bullshit. Now there's a wasteland full of bug monsters and a big tyrannical city with some smaller cities scattered about. That kind of basic grasp of a setting is all I expect from a jump. The introduction, when it's written, will probably go into the history and current situation more and explain exactly what Eco is. It's an action platformer series. I really doubt it had the kind of deep lore and special powers that require complex explanations the way Lord of Light or the Dresden Files do.
>>
>>50894111
And maybe if Amalur was here, we could ask him.

Everyone having a different view doesn't matter much when nearly everyone is unhappy with how it is now. She might not be able to get what is the right way to do fluff but she, and you, should sure as hell be able to understand it's not good as it is right now.

It doesn't seem like the grudge is against SB at all. There are plenty of folks over at SB like anonheart, CJ, dirge and others that don't get this kind of flak. SJ-Chan and Cthulhu just did something really wrong to get people riled up against them, and even then it's mostly the former.
>>
>>50894127
I think you can't defend your crush well enough legitimately so you have to resort to saying everyone that says bad things about her is the shitposter.

>>50894136

You aren't familiar with the series at all and we're supposed to take your word for it that this is enough fluff?
>>

He's been attacking dirge ever since his argument with Red. Constantly. And every time Cracker Jack talks about his jumps or makes a new one he's there to say OH SO YOU'RE JUST WANKING OMNIPOTENCE and try and start an argument over that.
>>
>>50894146

Yeah, people have brought up her blunder with The Fountain recently. I think Lost Odyssey making people so frustrated it got onto the drive with serious issues also sticks in the craw.

Yes.

The point of putting fluff in a jump is to explain it for people who aren't familiar with a setting. People who already know everything about the game don't need it nearly as much.

But if there's some big aspect of the setting I'm missing, by all means tell me about it and give SJ-Chan a concrete area of the fluff she needs to expand on.

I know that this is likely to be ignored since there's an argument right now, but might as well ask: What's a good price for an item that at one point in the plot is going to be incredibly common, but if the plot is derailed would become impossibly rare? Absent of any power of the item itself, I've realized that several IPs I'm interested in have something like that in them, so this would be more an adjustment to whatever base price I'd decide on for pure utility of any given item.

I was looking over my list of "things I think are cool and would be neat to have jumps" and realized that a lot of them have villains creating some sort of horrible super-technology that causes lots of problems for the world but is still really useful. So, like, you'd want to stop them, right? But if you stop them too early, they never make that super-technology. Like, there's one where the villain releases a transformation nano-virus thing that kills most of the world but gives the survivors superpowers. If you wait until he releases it on the populace, it's super easy to get. But billions will have died. Or there's another, where the villain makes this weird entropy-violating machine, really cool physics involved in it. In the process of testing it, he destroys galactic civilization. Could be cool to grab a copy of that, but you don't want half the galaxy to be destroyed. The CP-purchasable versions would be for people who don't want to take the risk that they'll be able to grab the machine or virus or whatever before the collateral damage happens.
>>
>>50894280
Don't most jumps have a villain origin? Seems fitting there.
>>
>>50894262
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. 200CP or 300CP seems like a reasonable tax for playing it safe.

>Kamen Rider is just what happens when you take superhero weirdness and condense it through the filters of Japan
Case in point, watch an episode of the Japanese version of Spider-Man. It's pretty much just Kamen Rider.

More seriously, though, Shotaro Ishinomori's work is actually largely conventional superhero stories as Western audiences would recognize them. Kamen Rider is just, somewhat ironically, the work of his that's got the most play in the US. Which is a shame, he did some great stuff. Like Cyborg 009, the very first superhero story in Japanese comics. It's really cool.

Relatively speaking it's nice and compact, a lot of the options are easy to understand and still have some worth as a first jump and the setting is easy to handle. Nowadays most people are spoiled by Heavens and Digger giving you choices galore, but for a jump that old, it isn't bad at all.

Yeah, I know, but it's popular thus more offensive it's so bare. It's worth as jump is basically limited to tourism and to get biotics since you get a better version of everything it has somewhere else. SO much could've been done with it. Wasted potential is the worst.

I have. I'm referring to the parts without Leopardon, obviously. They're written like a 70s Kamen Rider episode is.

Met a very nice Uighur girl in the Wuxia jump. I saved her village, out of pure reflex. So her father "offered" her to me and I was too weak to refuse. She's a legit good person, very caring. Devoted. Not much passion or romance though. I tried to get her back to her family a few times but she takes that really badly. They don't have divorce in fantasy north-eastern China I guess.

I went all Time Lord Victorious on the Buffyserve. "No one dies today!"

Everyone ended up dying.

Duct-Tape Fusion from Invader Zim? It doesn't have a size limit, but I imagine it would (1) take a long-ass time and (2) look ugly. But it'd work.

To be fair, in THAT universe, the evil deity-level entities are evil, and the good deity-level entities are also evil, so you're pretty much screwed unless you're prepared to start committing deicide.

Yeah I think I hadn't quite grasped how profoundly bleak the setting is. Also I rolled horrible against the third or fourth apocalypse.

In the end I wasn't even able to save my sweet husbando Jonathan Levinson. He died like a bitch crushed by a gigantic mechazoid-form Jasmine.

There are certain settings I'm leaving for myself to go back to, post-spark, and beat the crap out of the capricious gods that try to run the place. That is definitely one of them.

Related pic is related.

This pic is terrifying on so many levels... The obvious aside, why does he have obese fingers??

I do trust Nicolas Christ though.

Often I try to improve the quality of life when I can, unless I want to do something else. Which sounds terrible when I write it but I do intend to go back after my chain and extend my mega-corporation to said worlds.

In the Buffyverse I made a family of robots based of the original power rangers cast and fought vampires with them, stopping most of the worser stuff from happening.

I managed to take control of most of the mega-corps in secret in Shadowrun and as the ten years came up had several laws meant to help people in the works of being passed. But honestly I don't know if it was worth it.

It lets you make Names for people. Like the one you get with the Supplement.
>>
>>50895649
It lets you create narrative roles in the world, which have the powers associated with a fixed Name.

So if you were in a post-apocalyptic hellhole where there were no people who could save it by themselves, you could invent a story about "The Reclaimer" destined to build society back up from its ashes.
You designate them as a Hero, and give them the SCHOLAR, LUCK and PROTECT aspects, and designate three conditions for passing it on - "the Reclaimer must be strong of body and mind, fair and just to others, and believe that the world can be a better place".
Then you point at some dude and go "you are now The Reclaimer".

The Reclaimer gets the benefits of the Name - better skill learning, better luck, and heroic protection of others - and the Reclaimer's aspects get stronger the more people believe in the story. But if the person bearing The Reclaimer's title gets killed, the title passes on to another person.
Kind of like how being The Slayer works in Buffy, I guess?
