A different sort of thread for you, /tg/:

What sort of person would YOU be in the Star Wars universe? Not a roleplaying character, but you yourself, knowing yourself as you do, with your own strengths, talents and flaws....?

You awaken in the Star Wars Universe, and you are yourself, but in that moment of awakening, you could become any race, have Force awareness or Force powers, ....or not.

>You remain human or become an alien race
>You gain Force Awareness, or have Force powers
>You could be a Jedi, or not
>You could be an ordinary person, or you could crave adventure, BUT...once you crave adventure, it starts happening to you non-stop!
>You could be anyone, but your choice is made in that instant and you remain so for...a long time, perhaps your lifetime.
>Light Side of the Force, or Dark Side of the Force, you quickly realize that whichever you choose, the path is difficult, and it will build upon itself and even drag you along. A Force-User's life is not necessarily a happy one, but it IS eventful.

The catch is: knowing yourself as you do now, who do you become? ....or who do you wind up as?
>>
Grey Jedi
>>
>>50888056

As a salesman in real life... I'd probably be a fairly ordinary trader piloting a freighter with a distaste for the Republic and hokie old religions.
>>
One of those flying space Jews that are immune to charm person
>>
>>50888056
Something like Han Solo, but with a slower ship and not a whole lot going on.
>>
>>50888056

I would remain human.

I would actually prefer not to have force powers, but if i'm force sensitive i guess that is alright.

I would rather not be a Jedi. I honestly don't like the Jedi very much. Designated good guys they may be, but i disagree with most of their teachings. I'd rather not be sith. Just one forgotten force sensitive someone outside the core worlds.

I'd get myself a nice nine to five job if i could.

If i was aware of my abilities i would probably avoid using them unless it was necessary cause i don't wanna call attention to myself.

Honestly i probably wouldn't be very different from who i am already, i'd just be in star wars and i'd get to try my hand at romancing alien women and not just human women.

Also, you should really specify era, because that makes a big difference. I imagine many anons answers would change depending on era, i know mine would. I am assuming you mean pre jedi purge era of the republic, but you could mean Old Republic like in the pic, or Empire. If it were either of those my choices would change.

To answer my own question, I'd probably want to be a Jedi consular...traveling around solving problems judiciously. I'd lose my temper, give in to anger and get a "taste" of the Dark Side, corrupting myself. If I don't really lose it and end up getting people killed, I'd get kicked out of the Order, and end up in a desk job somewhere, using my meager Force powers to try and "do what good I can" while I look up at the sky in regret.
>>
>>50888121
If force sensative, I would be branded a sith yet never walk with them. Passion is power, restraint is peace, but peace is easily broken.

If not, R&D for whoever lets me keep my head down the farthest, I would stand for nothing and decry nothing for fear of the magic supernatural religious fanatics running around.
>>
Probably chewbacca like mechanic who hangs out with his buddies, getting up to wild shit around the fringes.

Pretty much already do this as the poorest member of my friends but I know how to work on vehicles, electricity and work as a nurse.
>>
>>50888272
Probably some low life who uses the force to cheat when gambling.
>>
>>50888272
I'm a workin' joe myself. I have tremendous respect for people who know how to make things work, and who have the selflessness to take care of others too.

I'd rather have a stand. Could I get a stand?

>Something involving tech

Prolly end up doing maintenance work of a ship. Would keep my head down until the inevitable moment where the captain decides to sign the wrong contract. Ship gets boarded. Cue daring escape.
>>
>>50888056

I remain Human and take Force Sensitivity.

I don't become a Jedi because I don't have the willpower to follow that kind of lifestyle. Instead, I just become a very skilled engineer with the help of my latent Force abilities.

The vast majority of Force Sensitives in Star Wars receive no training and simply become very adept at their chosen vocations.
>>
>>50888503
Hello Hayden.
>>
I guess I'd be a human doctor, that's pretty cool considering the level of tech in the SWverse. Being a jedi on top of that could be pretty awesome
Now that I think of it, I wonder what's their treatment for depression and other mental illness.

I'd probably end up with Kreia's backstory: someone who's more interested in figuring out what's going on with the Force than with keeping the faith. I doubt I'd arrive at Nietzscheanism (though that's not the most unreasonable interpretation) so I doubt I'd be mistaken for Sith.

If it were me, I would still be human, have little force awareness and would be a treasure hunter. As I hunted for Jedi/sith artifacts I would realize that I had a weak connection to the force and begin to use some of the teachings I pilfer to learn some force tricks to help get me out of scrapes. I would think that the rise of the empire would be an exciting time to be this kind of person.

I'm fairly gone mentally so the chance of me not falling to the dark side is kinda shit but without force powers I wouldn't stand a chance at all. So a varying degree of crazy, human sith who would like the other sith to get their dicks out their orifices and work together. I'd steal and murder as I could get away with but only because I couldn't really do anything else. I'd genuinely believe the only correct thing to do is for the sith to work together for absolute domination. Get jobbed early on or later probably if a sith paradise gets created as I'd be one of the not functional ones despite doing what I did.

The smarter thing to do is to control evil not try and get rid of it.

Probably some Imperial recruit, just doing enough to get by on some core world. When the empire falls apart I'd end up unemployed and rebound into some comfy space freighter job.

You're on a planet that doesn't allow quest threads, so you have become an expert in keeping your head down. ADVENTuRE
A hot togruta chick you've taken a liking to reveals she has a protocol droid that has been reported missing by the Empire. You can:
>Turn the protocol droid in to the local Imperial garrison for a sizeable reward, a social promotion, and a hot (human) Imperial officer takes a liking to you and promises to show you some wicked shit she learned on a "rim" planet (she winks...a lot) [Gain +1 Dark Force point]

>Help the togruta hide the protocol droid as one of the local prostitutes (hilarity ensues) while the local Imperials hang out at the bar and have a bachelor party for their captain (so hilarious!) and the droid does a convincing lap dance. If you survive the encounter, the rebels show up in a few days and take the droid off your hands to get its classified information. You get recruited into the Rebellion, get a social promotion, and the togruta chick shows you "something that's only legal in two systems, and this isn't one of them!" [+1 Light Force point]

>Let events follow their own course [possible social fallout]

If you choose a result that gains you a Force point, you are now on the path to ADVENTURE and shit will start happening to you all the time, until you spend that Force point. May the Force be with you.

I would be one of Darth Maul or Plo-Koon's race, cause they're cool. I don't know what era I'd want to be in, either Clone Wars or Old Republic. I guess my goal would try to find a true balance in the Force, between Dark and Light. I dunno how hard it would be to do something like that, so I'd probably go Light and defend the people.

Basically Qui-Gon Jin, because Qui-Gon is a best.
>>
>>50890770
Your name happens to be Rayye Gunne, and your droid is a loveable misfit named WhAK-0. Your reputation with starship systems gains you a reputation, and you soon find yourself swept into ADVENTURE
>>
>>50890824

Alright fuck it. I help the Togruta. Worst comes to worst i die and hang around as a force ghost.
>>
I'd probably end up as a lesser noble son to some mildly okay house with a nack for economic thought. My house wouldn't have enough resources to support me, so I'd end up doing data analysis and education administration grunt work for the Empire. Despite my distaste for their politics, I'd enjoy a comfortable job until I died scared and alone when rebels attacked the board of regents building to try and "bring down the Empire's propaganda machine."
>>
>>50888056

I'd awaken to another morning of nerf jerky and caffeinated blue milk, break camp, pack up my sensor pod and mount my speederbike for another day of clone war battlefield relic hunting and salvage team guiding. That way I get my outdoorsman/exploratory kick and military nerdism all in one.

No force powers, just enough sense to know how to avoid decapitating myself if I were ever to find a light saber.

If the galactic civil war would ever come to my door step I'd be torn between scouting and conducting supply procurement for the rebellion or joining the imperial army and either processing probot data or piloting AT-PT's.
>>
>>50888056
Sith seems like a fun gig. Travel around the galaxy looking for holocrons, examining ancient mysteries, expanding your knowledge and power.
Slightly more realistically I'd want to be an imperial agent. Anything for the Empire.

Quarren Sith no doubt, mainly because Quarren are fuck all cool, and because I don't really like the Jedi way. Mainly, I'd use my dark side abilites to get whatever I wanted(because Im kinda greedy). I think finding a balance between dark and light is implied to be the only true way to achieve peace and absolute wisdom.

The sith, for all their conniving, backstabbing ways, really only desire personal freedom. They don't go out of their way to harm those that haven't dove then any harm unless necessary.

The Jedi, despite their peaceful benevolence, are often blinded by an arbitrary set of sometimes downright harmful doctrines. It's these very virtues that made then unable to help Anakin Skywalker before he became Darth Vader.

By walking the space between light and dark, you can embrace your emotions but also not be overtaken by them. You can seek your own peace but not at the expense of others. It really is the only true path.

>Pic unrelated because I'm on my phone and don't have access to GImages for a proper pic.

Probably be some kind of force monk. Light side, but not really a Jedi because I don't feel like being part of that system. I'd probably err closer to the blind guy in Rogue One. I'd very much like to feel oneness with the Force. I'd probably just meditate most of the day and commune with the living world, but also help people out when I come across serious wrongdoing.

You don't really understand the Daoist influence in the Force then. The Dark Side is inherently imbalanced, the Light Side is balance and being one with the will of the universe. The shitty policies/culture of the Jedi has nothing to do with the Light Side, it has to do with people. There's a reason those shitty policies lead to the Dark Side for so many. Because being wrong and crappy is the Dark Side. The Jedi are a bad organization in modern times, but the Light Side is still the truly balanced way.

In fact, I prefer to avoid the term Light Side. There is the Force, and the Dark Side. The Dark Side is inherently wrong, where as the Force is inherently right.
>>
>>50891834
I've never liked that 'middle way' stuff. The movies pretty explicitly show that people with force sensitivity are pretty actively corrupted by negative emotions and so need to try to avoid them. While there are positive emotions the Jedi embrace a (pretty untennable) philosophy of trying to avoid emotional attachment because of how easily it can become a negative thing.

And the Jedi and Sith are followers of the Light and Dark respectively, but they aren't the be-all and end-all of the Light and Dark, so the failings of the Jedi aren't a great argument against the light side.

OP here. This is one of the reasons why I thought up this thread: I wanted people to consider themselves, and then imagine themselves in a universe where both their good and bad traits could manifest, whether it's mundanity vs. adventure, or anger vs. compassion, etc. It's kind of a twisted "wish spell", where the DM gives you the opportunity to live in this fun and interesting place, but you have to live with yourself as you are.

So....kind of a Fantasy Island, I guess.

Interesting replies. Thanks everyone!

I stay human, from one of the Empires numerous Industrial bases. My ambition is to join the Imperial Navy as a fighter pilot. Odds are I don't have the right temperament for a combat pilot and end up flying cargo shuttles instead. I reckon I could work my way up to piloting something respectable, like a troop transport or a patrol cruiser. I have absolutely no interest in joining the Rebellion or getting involved with criminals. The closest i ever want to come to a Hut world is with an entire fleet of Star Destroyers between us. I live for the satisfaction of bridging the endless gaps between worlds and soaring through imperial skies.

And hey, when I'm in port I might as well head to the nearest bar, I hear that the ladies like a pilot. Usually that pilot isn't transporting surplus low-g waste disposal units, true, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Working on my engineering degree now. Once the basics are done I'm going to move into astronautics and robotics. So I guess I'd still be a student, or maybe an apprentice starship mechanic.

I'll tell you this much for sure: I would go right ahead and buy/build myself a helper droid and promptly disregard all memory wipe guidelines. Having a snarky little metal buddy following me around beeping insults at people would be amazing.

I think many of you don't understand how the Star Wars universe works.

"Force Sensitive" means you're going to have disturbing dreams. Visions. You're going to be tempted with weird coincidences. You're going to be visited by other Force Sensitives who "had a vision about you" or something, and you'd better hope it's some swell, cool guy like Qui-Gonn Jinn wanting to give you ADVENTURE and HOT PRINCESSES and SAND, and not Darth Maul hoping to clear the slate of potential rivals by giving you his DUAL LIGHTSABER

Human. Middle management in some small, non-essential Imperial installation. It's not often rebels are going to assault a waste reclamation facility on some small moon, and even if they do, they aren't going to stop in the office section to hunt down an office drone hiding under his console.

The oppressive regime won't be too much of a bother, as I'm not low down enough to be worked to the bone, not high up enough to get killed.

I get my alien porn, drinks after work, wife, kid and some buddies from around the office to fill my days. Sounds like a pretty good life.

Even after the rebels topple the Empire, I can either keep my job in the New Order or destroy my personnel file and join a quiet life in the newly freed system, probably doing the same job.

Well, I'd be a human. Probably from a fairly well off background, some sort of dropout. I guess I'd be a smuggler or some other kind of freelancer, since there's better freelance opportunities in star wars.

I probably wouldn't be force sensitive, but if I was, my anger issues would lead me to the dark side. Of course, I'm not nearly badass enough to be a Sith, so I'd probably just be an overly-aggressive upstart criminal trying to use his force powers to get more power for himself.

Without the force, I wouln't have that temptation, so I'd probably just be a lonely, slightly miserable, less badass Han Solo knock-off. It's not great, but it's better than where I am i real life.
>>
>>50888056
Human, force sensitive, with powers.

My main personal flaw is a lack of ambition, so knowing that ambition is one of the Sith's things I'd seek out a holocron or a master and become a Sith. I don't see myself suddenly developing the urge to take over the galaxy so I'd get my hands on an interceptor and travel, searching out new sources of knowledge and doing odd jobs to make ends meet. Maybe be a sort of "Jedi for hire" doing things their restrictive philosophies disallow. I'd probably want to become skilled at hiding my powers in case I run into a Jedi and then save the dumbshits when they get in over their heads. I-it's not like I want to be a hero...Baka![\spoiler] Light armor and a helmet optional.

A good roll. You succeed in becoming a Mandalorian Jedi, and are so cool, that even Boba Fett bows down to you. You wield your lightsabers backwards like Ahsoka Tano, and the blades are black, which makes Mace Windu envious.

Yoda, being ever annoying, gets you to take some Jedi ritual, which reveals someone EVEN COOLER than you. Your nemesis. He is cloaked in shadow, but wields a lightscythe WITH HIS MIND and has a cowboy hat that is also an astromech droid. His ship is made of black ice.

Probably some jedi dude. I'd be a Hutt living a hedonistic life while the rest of the galaxy gets shittier and shittier. Pretty much what I'm doing now.

And while I don't do this in real life, in a Star Wars universe I'd travel to distant primitive worlds and use my advanced technology to get worshipped like a god by the local populations. Do this until I get bored, then I'd blast off with any loot to the next primitive planet.
>>
>>50888056
Based on my current situation, probably some kind of grunt worker on the SW equivalent of an agriworld's spaceport, somewhere with a lot of hills, swamps and old forest. See below for why that probably turns hella interesting.

I doubt I'd be a force user. Even if I managed to be force sensitive and was aware I was, I'm not a fan of Jedi or Sith viewpoints and would rather have a small talent I can hide than a large one I cannot. The only way I'd start using space magic is if I had to.

I can't deny that I'd crave adventure, so I'm probably either dead or in a ship pretty damned quick. I've always had a soft spot for the romanticism of space travel and living by your wits with an outlaw reputation. Good idea to hire some guns and muscle though, I'm not exceptional with either.
>>
>>50904726
>light-sided sith
Not sure how this would work.
>asshole jedi who breaks the code
Literally a grey jedi. The force is neutral in its natural state with the dark side being a corruption of it. The light-dark side dichotomy established in the EU isn't really in line with the way they talk about the force in the trilogies. Grey jedi still use the force in its natural state; they're not half-way to the dark side. They just don't abide by the jedi order's own dogmatic ideology which in itself is far from perfect, nor is it based on some universal truth that inherently ties "the light side" (which again is a gross simplication) to it.
>>
I dunno.
I do lots of odd jobs while moving from job to job because I have no job security, health insurance, or incentives to stick with any one so when the work environment is bad I bail rather then deal with a system where I am offered zero reasons to stay on and get shit all over.

>>
>>50888056
I would likely stay human. Since I have a choice, I would be a Jedi that craves adventure. But, knowing me, my desire for personal freedom, adventure, and power would lead me down the path of the Dark Side. I would be an enemy of the Jedi Order. I wouldn't be a Sith, however. Just a Dark Jedi.

Depending on how corrupted I am, my life will go one of two ways at this point:
1) I am a thorn in the side of the Jedi Order for some time, and I am eventually bested by a Knight or Master in combat.

2) I am saved from the Dark Side due to losing a battle of wits against a Knight or Master. I am accepted back in the Jedi Order, eventually becoming a mentor for newer initiates to warn of the dangers of the Dark Side, but am never allowed to have my own Padawan since I'm seen as an eccentric Jedi (I could always be seduced by the Dark Side once more). However, there will likely be an event that unfolds that puts me in a situation where I need to have a Padawan, and they will be hot-headed and emotional due to some horrible event they witnessed (like everyone else at our temple being murdered by a Sith Lord). My challenge would be to make sure this person, who reminds me of a younger version of myself, doesn't fall to the Dark Side like I once did.
>>
>>50906393
>93
I like both of those answers. That kind of stuff I can extrapolate adventures from.
>>
Absolutely go with the force. I want me some magic. Maybe one of the shapeshifter races, too. But for how I'd do? Honestly, I have a lot of personal issues, so I'd do my best to stick to the Jedi code just because I know how easily I'd go crazy, and I don't want to have people always riding my ass. Hopefully I'll manage to ride the line like Luke or Mace Windu, but odds are decent I go full Darth, because I'm not a good person, and I'd get tired of it.

A terrible roll. However, the Force sees your self-sacrifice. Choose:
>You are shot by Darth Vader himself during the battle of Yavin, and your X-wing is one that goes down in a dramatic, fiery arc into the Death Star surface. Your demise reminds everyone that this battle is for keeps, and heroes bleed and die.

>You are heavily damaged during a raid and your ship careens wildly into a wilderness planet. The rebels leave you for dead because you're nobody important. Nobody even knows your name until twenty years into the future, you become the "wild card" when a young jedi and his crew crash land on your planet being pursued by pirates, and "some old x-wing pilot" helps them survive to turn the tide of battle. You're a pretty good droid mechanic, but your low roll means you end up somewhere unpleasant - possibly a rim world, working for a sadistic and selfish slob of a boss. You take to disguising yourself as a droid, both to gain insight into their functions, and to hide from your boss. If your next roll is higher than a 70, you accidentally get "sold" to a grey jedi buying up droids for some cockamamie plan of his, and you end up in ADVENTURE.
>>
>>50907549
>49
Not an impressive roll, but could be fun. Choose:
>You manage to bully, intimidate and murder your way to the top of a small band of pirates near the rim worlds. Fortune and ADVENTURE await you, until you start attracting the attention of evil rivals with vast resources. Good luck.

>You discover a holocron predating the Old Republic. The "soul" within is not impressed with you, but begins revealing secrets that lead to a series of temples and battlegrounds, each one more Dark than the last. You begin to uncover a mystery, but both the holocron and you know that this Dark Path is a one-way street, and one you probably won't survive...

You dress very well, have lots of free time and live a pretty good upper middle class life as you work for a senator. However, you know the Jedi Order keeps tabs on you (as a Force sensitive). You get to read about ADVENTURE in the holosuites.
>You wash out of the Order, and a mind wipe is mostly effective, but still there is the emotional pain and disappointment to live with. ....and the envy and anger at those who failed you. You've had to make difficult choices, even final choices, but you're building something that will stand the test of time. You are making your mark on the galaxy. Your name will not be forgotten.

One day, you receive a visit from two mysterious characters who begin to counsel you about the Great Mysteries of the universe. They call themselves "Master" and "Apprentice". They are very good listeners. They offer to become your counselors. In return, all they ask is for your protection, and some resources with which to build a temple.

"Mind control", you quickly learn, can be a barbed-wire wrapped club, or it can be a scalpel scraped across the cheek just under the eyeball. The weak minded and predictable types in the galaxy just need leadership. Choose:
> Your crew wants to go to Nar Shadaa (like every other pirate) to enjoy "the good life" and wait to be tapped by the crime lords for "jobs" (how mundane). You hear of opportunities for serious ADVENTURE and profit, but it will cost you some crew members and risk your skin....but the rim worlds haven't seen a crime boss with your abilities, have they?

>Nar Shadaa is visited by two Jedi (master and apprentice) investigating some mystery involving a holocron. You have an opportunity to steal the thing, making serious enemies, but it could lead to POWER ....and a lot of money.

In star wars however...
What with lasers and stories of magical space wizards(jedi) I'd be all over exploring the universe and helping people
I'd like to be force sensitive, but even if I wasn't the wanderlust would overtake me regardless
Still be human though, and working security when I'm not actively trying to embark on my heroic crusade

Having a stable income and some measure of influence and power over ordinary people is better than risks of being a rebel.

But if I've got a choice, I'd like to be a human or near-human, Force Sensitive, with powers.
As a sociopath with narcissistic tendencies I'll fall to the Dark Side immediately, and I'm completely OK with it. I always liked Sith philosophy.
I'll probably freely use my powers to dominate minds of the people I deem unworthy (so almost everyone except rare exceptions), I'll revel in powers that make my body even more fast, strong and powerful (and I'm a huge and rather fit guy IRL) and enjoy personal combat, channeling my anger. I'll either achieve greatness - or die trying.

Zabrak or Togruta force-sensitive endeavoring to become a jedi guardian. With force powers intended to improve my ability to weather damage and assaults to save others the hardship, I'd put my efforts toward a more peaceful galaxy or at the very least attempt to protect those that need it most.

I want to be a human Jedi who decides to be a champion of the downtrodden in a city.

I'd be a low-level technician working a shit job for the Empire on a backwater ice planet and hating my life. I wouldn't have the balls to join the rebellion, but I would definitely read forbidden rebel propaganda literature and spread seditious anti-Empire talk among my co-workers. Eventually I'd be caught, but it's a mild enough offense that I wouldn't be executed unless I happened to be caught on the one day a year that the local Sith lord visits the facility and he was itching for a chance to stretch his force-muscles and show off his ruthlessness. Instead, I'd be shipped off to a labor camp on an even worse planet to do an even more pointless and mind-numbing job. Every day I'd pray for a rebel attack to blow me and everyone I know into atoms.

The closest thing to the current me would be an imperial customs officer, just trying to do his job and prevent drugs, slaves and forbidden weapons traffic.
All the nice people are leaving the empire to join the alliance, and my boss is some COMPNOR fanatic that got his position by licking Palps balls instead of being competent, but I can't leave because I've got a death stick ring to burst every odd week.
If I don't die against pirates, smugglers, rebels, or in the purges after the birth of the new republic, I'll probably get sidelined by the new team coming from the alliance, some of which I'll recognize as former smugglers or equivalent scum I hunted.
I either end an alcoholic wreck missing the old days or go postal on my new colleagues.

Star Wars doesn't really reward loyalty and sense of duty as traits.
