Got me thinking, anyone played/invented races where the dimorphism (either sexual or just from different breeds) would prohibit them from pursuing certain careers, or even being unable to be an adventurer?

I'm talking above and beyond drow/sun elf differences and more like different dog breeds, eg chihuahua or mastiff.

Pice may or may not be related.

In most insect species with queens, all of the workers (and warriors) are non-reproducing females, sterile or not depending on the specific species. Males are called drones and are just living sperm storage that tend to die after mating but aren't too different from female workers. If the rogue was a drone, swapping genders more likely just gained her a brand new stinger. Or they could be based on termites, who don't follow the above rules.

If you want a little guy to suddenly become a big girl, a species of spider people could accommodate that.

Insect-brew race wasnt exactly 2 legged irl insects per se. They were meant to be semi eusocial, where a breeding pair emitted hormones which drove off other females and made other males sterile and compliant. When the male dies, the effect wears off, and the males duke it out until a dominant malet emerges. As they developed civilisation, the bug-purge was replaced by a more formal tourney-like competition to decide who gets to bone for the rest of his life.

Player was working with DM to find an excuse to compete in one of these. Now it looks like she'll have one fought over her instead...

Well, in the animal kingdom when speaking size-based sexual dimorphism, males are typically noticeably smaller than females. In mammals and birds the opposite holds true, likewise crocodilians and reptiles species which are traditionally classified as "lizards", but when looking at amphibians and fish and arthropods and whatnot the female is typically larger (and in many cases to a larger degree than the male-female divide, so to take the -4 Str joke in the case of male-female arthropod sexual dimorphism the males would likely wind up -6 or even -8 or -6 and Small v Medium w/o penalty).

Well, I have a race of magical mushroom nymphs that are all female. That's not really the same I guess. Sexual dimorphism just isn't that big in mamals, but it seems like a fun feature for insects and fish and that sort of thing.

Why not just play a dromite? They're pretty awesome. Especially as rogues.
>>
>>50890065 They've said nothing about their system. 3.5 is popular, but it's not the be all and end all. It's not even the default assumption, that's 5e.

It's the DM's homebrew setting, so I don't have all the details, but I imagine it would have to be pretty heavily skewed to a larger number of males.

I guarantee you that was the entire reason for it all.

What purpose does that piercing through the bicep have other than weakening its structural integrity?

It's merely a weird cultural half-broach that pinches into the skin slightly , to confuse people like >>50897152
into going for a false target.
