>>
>>50881844
They're not. It's not like they said anywhere in the movies that the Fetts were Mandos. People just assumed that because they wore Mandolorian armour that made them Mandolorian.
>>
>>50881844
The Fetts are Mandos.

Also, I just want to see some good old fashioned Mandalorian crusading. Is that too much to ask?
>>
>>50881868
Lancer is a anti-fighter support ship, the Star Galleon is a escort frigate with turbolasers and concussion missiles. Do the math
>>
>>50881968
>Nadiri Mark One Starhawk
was a type of battleship in service with the New Republic Starfleet. Like all the ships constructed at the Nadiri Dockyards, they were constructed from disassembled captured Imperial spacecraft. It was notable for being one of the first class of ships built by the New Republic, through military contract, after the Battle of Endor.

>>50882432
It's fascinating how wrong that image is. Starkiller is the Shadow the Hedgehog of the SW universe. Cade is controversial at best. Bane is boring as fuck. 1313 Boba Fett has never been canon. And what the fuck is Maul doing here?
Plus the drawings have the same vibe as those old racist caricatures from the early 20th century. It's like watching pic related, but with more autism.
>>
So, Vader's "Choke" line in Rogue One got me thinking, An Un-maimed Ani-Vader would probably make SO MANY bad puns.

>>50882365
I think he meant White uniform but it hardly matters.
>>
>>50881844
Don't really get where the confusion comes from.

In the old EU they were.
In the official content, including TCW they were never meant to be, which is something Filoni talks about in an interview, I think it's about the legacy stuff.
New canon hasn't done anything with Fett yet, but I'm fairly certain he is not anymore, since the word of god by Lucas himself was that he is not.
>>
>>50879747
Puts me more in mind of either a knockoff or possibly a heavily modified derivative built on license somewhere
>>50881844
The lancer's issue is that it has exactly no weapon that can reliably penetrate capital ship armor, and the star galleon does, even if it doesn't have many. The lancer just won't be able to get enough lucky quad hits in before the turbolases and missiles take it apart
>>
>>50882646
>An Un-maimed Ani-Vader would probably make SO MANY bad puns.
Like in the ROTS novelization?

>we were promised a handsome reward
>i am your reward. you dont think im handsome?

>>
>>50881868
Lancer's have enough quad batteries to wipe out a whole squadron of fighters
The old Galleon, yeah its a slow piece of shit and not exactly a marvel of design when it comes to freighters. But its pretty tough, has enough turbo lasers on it to make pirates go away and if you get close enough (like you'd have to with a Lancer) you will eat its conc missiles and be unhappy.
>>
>>50882835
Exactly.
>>50882849
I'd say the Galleon's a pretty damn good armed freighter.
>>
>>50882869
Its party trick of jettisoning the cargo under its own hyperspace drive was pretty neat, the interior was also designed to repel borders so that's not awful either.
But, they where painfully slow fuckers and when you can't outrun much as a wallowing space truck, chances are you might be in the shit when it comes to a shooting match as well.

I really love the AT-AP's "Tank Destroyer" type of design, but walkers just don't seem to fit that role very well, I mean sure it could stand up or go belly-down in a depression to pop in and out for firing, but turning to bring the main gun about pretty much REQUIRES the damn thing to stand up and expose itself.

The top-mounted laser/Mass driver sorta helps with that problem, but not much.

Well, the thinking is that the First Order is where all the Imperial crazies ended up in while the Remnant, which we know nothing about in Canon other than It Exists, is presumably the branch of the Empire more interested in "law and order" than GAS THE JEDI SPACE WAR NOW.

Part of its nostalgia for the Imperial Remnant of Pellaeon/Daala of Legends, which were pretty cool guys and part of its a wish for a post-Endor Imperial faction that isn't evil to the point of self-parody.

I feel like anyone with the sense to look into the First Order wouldn't consider them a viable long-term political movement so much as a bunch of hopped-up terrorists in their 20s with Snoke in the background tossing them plot armor.

The Empire DOES, in fact, exist post-Jakku. I don't see why you keep claiming it doesn't. The Galactic Concordance was signed by the Empire and New Republic after Jakku and was designed so that the Empire stays within certain political and galactic boundaries.

The Galactic Concordance didn't dissolve the Empire, but it did remove pretty much all of its teeth, with the remaining ones fleeing to form the First Order.
>>
>>50884861
Doesn't Bloodline establish The First Order has also infiltrated the New Republic Hydra-style? So basically the Hux bunch are a bunch of fanatics that can't be trusted to achieve its goals outside of providing the external threat for its leaders and more subtle operatives to seize power in the Republic, like the Separatists were for Palpy.
>>
What do you guys do with captured imperial perssonel? What would pirates do?

For pirates, I was thinking just jettison them into space in escape pods and have them get picked up by imperials later, or perhaps press gang them into service. Sell them into slavery depending on how vicious the the pirates are?
>>
>>50885099
Read more nu-canon. It's noted in SEVERAL books and comics that the Empire doesn't exist, its remaining worlds joined the NR, became the Centrists and then seceded to join the First Order.

>After the collapse of the central Imperial government in the years and with many members of the political and military, scientific establishment escaping into the Unknown Regions following Galactic Concordance, what was left of the centralised Galactic Empire split apart and break into remnant factions. The New Republic would maintain an egalitarian policy of peaceful coexistence with many of these galactic governments, which were comprised of former territories led by Imperial governors, some of which sought to join the Republic.[76] While the Empire, the heroes of the Rebellion, and the tragedy of Alderaan would be remembered by the generation of children conceived following the destruction of the Death Star II. These "victory kids," would learn of the battles of the past in textbooks, with the struggles of the Galactic Civil War soon becoming nothing more than a distant memory.[76] Many of the Old Empire's orbital shipyards would be destroyed,[77] and the New Republic would pass the Military Disarmament Act, among others, in an effort to avoid a repeating the former mistakes of the Galactic Republic; and would host its capital on a rotating basis among members worlds rather than on the former Imperial Center.

>Many unaffiliated with one another, the Empire continued to exist in the form of numerous nations and remnant factions that wished for their own independence from the now dominant Republic.[14][9][76]

14 is a tweet from Pablo saying "It had stopped being the Empire. It's more like independent nations. Like post-USSR 'stans'"

9 is the TFA Visual Dictionary.

76 is Bloodline.

So yes, it technically still exists. But it remains a bunch of basically Balkan states instead of an organized Imperial Remnant like Legends.
>>
>>50885206
As a rebel/NR captain, or rebel privateer, hand them over to the people in charge of POWs, as a non-bloodthirsty pirate, jettison them in escape pods, never played a bloodthirsty pirate, but the answer would presumably be murder and/or slavery
>>
>>50885230
>>50885369

And here's Pablo's tweet and the surrounding conversation.

So yes, it does in fact still exist, just not as it did before.
>>
>>50885402
Hmm. Interesting. So the Warlord period could still exist with the right political prodding.
>>
>>50885369
>>50885402
Still doesn't seem like they'll do anything with them. Pablo even notes 'many of them just wanted independence' so its questionable how many of them are even anything close to resembling the Empire. I'd want Pellaeon's Remnant back or ideally the Fel Empire but I just don't see it happening.
>>
>>50885206
See if anyone wants to join the crew, first off. Tht seems to be the typical pirate's MO, and it works just as well in a Galaxy Far Far Away as it did in the golden age of piracy, considering in both cases the people might be experienced serving on ships but who got their asses drafted into service for a cause they weren't too keen on.

/swg/ i just saw rogue one, it was soooo good!

>likable but expendable characters, who trade life and time for the mission
>beautifully complex, but basic plan and mission
>visually stunning and complex
>great acting, and camera work
>just enough banter to keep dialouge livley
>excellent use of the snowflake super weapon
>great ideas all around on story and answered a lot of great questions the fandom has about the series for a long time.
>i feel it serves as an excellent replacment for the former cannon

But my question to you is this: would it work as an rpg setting? Would you be able to get characters and players who feel compelled to do the mission, but expendable enough not to force through an agenda?

In my experience the rpg groups ive been a member of, and DM'd for usually dont like their players getting killed off, or entering lose/lose suicide missions.

So, Bombshell Minis are doing a not-Jyn Erso mini. Which of the ImpAss heroes would best represent her? Jyn Odan seems like it might work (and they share a name), but honestly Verena Talos could work too considering the whole Baton goodness.

And speaking of R1, anyone figured if some kind of ImpAss/X-Wing/Armada minicampaign for Scarif is feasible yet? Like, ground team steals plans and gets them to U-Wing (ImpAss), U-Wing docks with Corvette to handoff plans (X-Wing), then fleet covers Corvette's escape (Armada). That, or X-Wing game to cover the U-Wing to land, ImpAss for ground team to broadcast, then Armada to cover the Tantive IV's escape.

Basically what I'm saying is Scarif seems like a good template for an interconnected campaign between all 3 of FFG's minis games.

Rogue One wasn't that good from a filmic perspective. The first twenty minutes were an absolute mess, apart from the robot none of the characters had a development arc, and the denouement was flawed and failed to bring home any kind of emotional closure of the film's plot. Remove the Star Wars goggles and view it as a military sci-fi film and its problems become a lot clearer.

It's the best piece of Star Wars media to be released in at least a decade, but as a film, analysed impartially and without its trapping, it's probably the worst Star Wars release since RotJ.

UT-60D "U-Wing" Fighter/Transport
Silhouette 3 Speed 4 Handling +1 Defense 2/1 Armor 3 Shields 2
HT 15 SST 15
Hull/Class: Transport/UT-60D U-Wing
Manufacturer: Incom Corporation
Hyperdrive: Class 1
Navicomputer: Yes
Sensor Range: Medium
Crew: 1 pilot, 1 copilot
Passenger Capacity: 12 for combat deployment
Encumbrance Capacity: 30
Consumables: 2 Weeks
Cost: 150,000/6
Customization Hard Points: 2
Weapons:
Forward-mounted Medium Laser Cannons (Fire-arc: Forward, Dam 6, Crit 3, Close range, Linked 1)
Forward-mounted Proton Torpedo Launcher (Fire-arc: Forward, Dam 8, Crit 2, Short range, Blast 6, Breach 6, Guided 2, Limited Ammo 6, Linked 1, Slow-Firing 1)
Port and Starboard Door-mounted Autoblasters (Fire-arc: Port or Starboard, Dam 3, Crit 5, Close range, Autofire)

My own first pass at stats, but this was extrapolated based on early VD stuff on the wook and some interpretation based on the film and the LAAT/i stats. Last I checked Wookieepedia says it has blaster cannons, but they're clearly autofire so I went with Autoblasters.

Those are heavy repeaters at most. Not remotely Ship-Scale autoblasters (Though I don't like all vehicle scale multiples being the same factor)
>>
>>50892704

Yeah, that was me trying to extrapolate between the thing on screen and what the wikia was saying at the time, since Blaster Cannons are heavier and slower even than autoblasters.

>>50892683 clearly proves otherwise, though. Better handled with a special rule or possibly some extra hardpoints. Or just say to your Soldier Heavy "Yes, you can fit a tripod and a Gunnery weapon inside the U-Wing".

The LAAT stat block (which is confusing as balls, BTW, with all the different weapon systems which aren't linked but it's too small to use any special firing rules - but doesn't seem armed with enough crew slots to use all the guns) has "Antipersonnel Lasers" which are like, Damage 1 for ship scale and have Blast 1, which could also be used.

His part in both movies was integral to the plot, in RotJ he's the one who disabled DS2's Shield Generator, and one part of his arc wasn't resolved his love for Leia. None of the other main characters, Leia especially, would have abandoned him how does his rescue make Lucas a hack? In TFA his death is central to Kylo's character arc, as well as for the revelation of who he is. he needed to be there to die as well as to guide the new generation which he did well.

I liked it better that everything worked out despite Han's worries and premonitions and perceived obstacles to his happy ending with Leia. He earned it for his journey through the Trilogy, and a Pyrrhic/bittersweet victory because of Han's death would have felt all wrong. Star Wars was the kind of story that needed the Mega Happy Ending.

At the start of combat assign a reinforce token to your ship. Title. Zero points.

Though honestly, I've flown the Punisher a lot, and have about an 85% win rate with it across dozens of games, and it really just needs a price reduction. Redline and Deathrain are both damn good pilots, they're just expensive and people get scared of taking them.

Especially with the new cluster bomb FAQ, Deathrain is fucking scary.

>>50893176
Just make sure you have a focus and TL when you fire. Redline FCS clusters could crap out on you before anyway. Less has changed than you think.

Also, after running into two Ghosts with TLT and FCS, I will fucking take the nerf to never run into that shit again. FFG made a good decision.
>>
>>50894354
During the final battle seem better. If he died on Bespin, would have made RoTJ have much more extra drama, in a family focused movie.
>>
>>50894393

Han is an active member of the main party that interacts with them consistently for the majority of the story rather than intermittenly for a minority of the story, and most of his major scenes, encounters and obstacles are confronted with the main party rather than totally separate from them. He's clearly a PC.

Poe only really interacts with a main party member during one encounter. He's important and supports the party in major ways, but he's not a party member.

Perhaps I should have specified "Good DMPC," ie one that doesn't take shine off the party by accomplishing important things for them rather than existing to help them accomplish important things indirectly.

The real question is if Old Obi-Wan is a DMPC or an overleveled PC working in collusion with the GM for story purposes who then took over Leia's character once his encounter with Vader was done.
>>
>>50894486
Obi-Wan was the GM's PC from a previous campaign that he sacrificed to illustrate the stakes.
>>
>>50894466
I figured but again, I don't fault Lucas on it.
>>
>>50894484

Wait, you think Jedi would have had more drama is Han died in the last movie instead casting a giant grim shadow over the grand finale of the entire trilogy by ruining the happy ending in death? What?
>>
>>50894457
Sure, Ill take your word. But I do feel Lucas was playing with the idea in RoTJ, which had some set up for it, and would fit in with the end of their journey together.
>>
>>50894466
I don't either, man I love Han
>>
>>50894499

So the original party was Luke, R2 and 3PO, Han joined the campaign about 2-3 sessions in and somebody brought Leia's player to the game right around the big climax and they let that person play the DMPC so they wouldn't be bored, only for that player to love it and come back for the next campaign full time?

I really feel like Han dying at the 11th hour would have ruined the whole thing. Can you imagine the fucking Ewok party with Lando, Leia and Luke crying into their space beers because their best friend/true love died right before the end after taking three movies to really commit to the cause and leading the final charge?

That is in no way the kind of movies the OT were, even Empire smartly left us with a white-hot beacon of hope after all that darkness with Luke recovering from his wound in safety and the others off to rescue Solo. Star Wars can BE that kind of story, we saw it many times in some EU novels, Gendy Clone Wars, CG Clone Wars, Rebels, and of course now in Rogue 1, but its not what the OT was and Lucas was wise not to do it.
>>
>>50894559

>its bitter sweet.

Star Wars was never about being Bitter Sweet. The only reason it was that way in Empire was so the next chapter would be that much more triumphant. All of those except TFA are missing R2.

3PO and Chewie were PCs in 4, 5, and 6 for sure.

Padme could have been a PC in Revenge even though she doesn't do any encounters because she's involved in several plot-critical RP scenes that likely included skill checks. Yoda was important enough in Sith that he could have been player piloted even though he's clearly a DMPC for most of his appearances.

BB in TFA is debatable. Unfortunately Chewie's player clearly didn't show up so he got demoted to NPC. Still, given how Chewie was played in the other three campaigns it was probably for the best. Typical Barbarian Munchkin never wanted to RP, he actually got some good scenes in that TFA campaign.
>>
>>50894714
R2 is too much of a plot device to be a player character. He is the get out of jail card the DM held if the PCs ever fucked up to much.

3PO is just a conveyor of information and an excuse for the party to be able to talk to every alien they meet reasonably well.

Chewie probably is a PC, though an inattentive one only really interested in combat.

Just 'women in the military' things

Nah, the World Devastators was the Clone Emperor. Daala attacked with three ISDs as part of her "The Warlords are all stupid fucks not worth following so I'm going to do as much damage as possible before the New Republic takes me down."

Unfortunately for her, she was using a 10 year old book of tactics and didn't count on Ackbar being able to anticipate what she was doing.

The cool guy part is that in Darksaber, she kills off most of the warlords and seizes control of the Remnant with Pellaeon and allows women and aliens to serve fully in the Empire

I don't agree, R2 was obviously a highly specialized min-maxed character, but he was involved in way too many dangerous encounters and suffered his share of failed rolls. Eaten by a space eel? Ambushed by a Jawa? Mugged by two Super Battledroids? Plugged into the wrong input terminal? He had to be a PC.

3PO is more debatable in ANH (and no way was he a player in PT), but considering the mechanics checks and sidequests he got in Empire and how he got involved with the final battle plus his importance to recruiting the Ewoks in Jedi, I'd say in those two games at least he was a PC. The guy who played him was probably one of those guys who wanted to prove he could get shit done with an underpowered character and rolled up an intentionally unoptimized sheet for him just to rub it in the Roll-Player piloting Chewbacca's face.

This then made their little side-adventure where Chewie had to fix and carry him through the final battle a highlight of the campaign. He actually got the Encounter Jocky to rp!

>Nah, the World Devastators was the Clone Emperor.

I was just posting that as a reply to this >>50894710 Anon that I was mistaken

I haven't read any of the books with her, and I plan too, so I didn't go to the Wook to get my facts straight. All I really know is that before she and Pellaeon start the Cool Empire Club, she attacks Lukes jedi academy, and was probably going to so something with the Suncrusher had Kyp "drowning in imperial blood" Duron not stolen it

By the way, how do you pronounce Pellaeon's name? I've been reading Thrawn trilogy, and for the first two books, I've pronounced it "Pel-lay-on" - but the ae, I remembered, tends to be pronounced with an E sound, so I wonder if the pronunciation isn't Pell-Eon

Episode I and II are on point. III starts to falter a bit.

IV, V, VI though are mostly uninteresting, often seeming to be contrary just to be contrary as opposed to it being something players would actually do. Most of the humor seems to have been spent on the first three as well.

It would look fine if the fellow who designed it had any conception of scale. I don't know why people like WEG ships when they weren't designed by someone like McQuarrie, who used to be an technical illustrator and actually knew how shit worked at scale.

They aren't even aesthetic.
>>
>>50894934
Darths and Droids was funny before it went its own way. The LOTR one was funny because the GM was desperately trying to stick to his LOTR plot. D&D is just a screencap Star Wars adventure without any commentary.
>>
>>50894934

I got the impression they were a little scared to make fun of the OT. They were quite harsh when they were doing the PT, and all that seemed to vanish when they started episode iv. I still read it though, Im not as interested anymore though

Anyone buy the TFA beginner kit for the FFG system? Which of the core books is it most like, or is it a mash up?
>>
>>50892283
sentinel landing craft.

I don't think the Empire knows how to do anything small-scale.
>>
>>50890021
The Vong as a concept: Intriguing

The Vong as they Are: Absolutely SHIT
>>
>>50895972
pretty sure it'll be a mash up. I haven't purchased it yet but I intend to because I like collecting shit na mean?
>>
>>50895972
Someone scanned it in an posted it here awhile ago if you wanted to check it out, but I've not looked over it.

The character I'm making for my group's next game is an Imperial Commando. Scout specialist kinda deal, and he's a die hard supporter of the Empire. Sees it as having gotten rid of what made the Republic shitty and the Imperial military actually gives a shit about enforcing law and order, unlike the Pubbies, who couldn't even stop pirates.
>>
>>50896341
What is this "small scale" you speak of? Is it a new drug?
>>
>>50893833
I'm going to play a female lethian (redskinned) Twilek Charmer-type smuggler with the High Risk obligation in a EotE game starting up in a few weeks.

She knows that most people finds her exotic and uses that to her advantage, twisting officials and lowlifes around her little finger in equal measures with a wink, look and "innocent" innuendos. She also loves thumbing her nose at Imperials, got a chip on her shoulder the size of a star destroyer and she's always looking out for the next Big Score(tm) to prove to anyone, everyone and herself that she got the biggest 'nads this side of the Coruscant.

I felt like playing a Twi'lek female that isn't the usual floozy or ex-slave
>>
X-wing regionals are coming up. I kind of want to go but I don't play Dengaroo or Palp Defenders. Should I even bother?
>>
>>50897207
Yes. x/7 Defenders & Chaff, Double Ks and VentRau+1 are all viable lists
>>
>>50897207
If you look up regionals on list juggler you'll see that those two archetypes don't even make up half of the top 4 at each one. From experience I can tell you that you should prepare to fight them but not only them, because a lot of people are playing lists specifically built to crush them (Homing Miranda+Corran, Vader+Hotshot Everywhere.tga). Besides, like 2/3 of the people with those two lists are only playing them because they're prevalent in the meta, and they don't really know how to play them any better than if they'd brought something else. So I would say that unless you've been practicing with either one of those or are more comfortable with it than anything else, you can bring something else, but practice the matchup.

I don't play either of those two squads but I've played against them enough times that I pretty much already know how each game is going to play, so unless you give me something super gimped I can confidently take them out, and that'll be most people that get out of the first round.
>>
>>50897207
There's a lot of variety at the top tables these days, so you can get away flying just about everything. You just need an answer to x7 and palp, since it's basically warping the entire game around it.
>>
>>50892283
>>50896341
I mean the Canon sentinel is tiny compared to the Legends one, and there was the TIE Striker Shuttle in Rogue One, Pablo says the name will be revealed eventually.

>>50896741
Who are the rest of the players playing? Other commandos? Campaign objectiev?

Insanely paranoid Imperial pilot deserter who picked up a knack for booby traps and explosives as a way to satisfy his paranoia.
>>
>>50894851
I can't go on after that comic's version of Revenge ends, it would have been funnier from the start if they had kept all of Lucas's story idea's and plot points, but made the actions that facilitated them even more absurd. After a certain point it just felt like bullshit to me, and the GM character kind of felt like That Guy/GM to me.
>>
>>50897730
>GM character kind of felt like That Guy/GM to me.
How so?
>>
>Rogue one has a place called Ring of Kafrene
>Google autocorrects this to jewlery rings with the molecular structure of Caffeine
>Pablo loves Coffee.
COINCIDENCE? Meh, probably.

It's just a feeling, I understand the anger or rather exasperation at having prepared material for the campaign only to have to throw it away but it seemed to me like he wasn't a very good GM. From just skimming threads here I've noticed that best trait of a GM is improvisation and from the very start he fucking railroads the players, something players naturally hate, and I know to even have a story he needed to write the character that way but he's the least entertaining of the people playing. And the guy playing Qui-gon, common player type yes, but I'd have never let him keep playing once it became apparent that he was a fucking munchkin that had sub-par role-playing and even less thinking skills. It made it seem less like a real campaign and more like a shitty story and I happen to love the prequels, I know they have flaws but most of those are with the characters and not the plot. if you see where i'm coming from cool, if not chalk it up to personal preference.
