I'm starting a new session and the setting is 21st century with weird-ish elements

I am playing it safe and making a character that is essentially a modern day Paladin/Knight with elements of Don Quixote.

What's a good gun that a Paladin would use in the first century?

Depends on the character's background and training. I'm partial to FAL or AK personally, but some Call of Duty M4 shit might be appropriate for a former US GI or some such.
