Because I'm feeling generous and several fa/tg/uys expressed an interest in the setting, I'm gonna storytime Masamune Shirow's Orion (one of his best and most underrated works), in high resolution.
keep the thread bumped if you wanna see it through.

You'll see, it's basically Shirow's attempt to combine Jodorowsky's Dune with chinaboo mythology. As such, it's full of metaphysical technobabble that makes very little sense.
It also has a few references to Moebius's works, which you'll be able to pick up if you pay attention.

Yes, Orion is the only Shirow book that I've not managed to get my hands on that has been printed in the larger size (like Dominion Tank Police + No More Noise, Appleseed etc.) Orion is the last one I'm missing (mostly because the price is quite high for one that is in good quality and shipping is available to where I live.)
Therefore: Please, continue.
On the side note: I've played in Orion themed rpg campaign run with Fuzion system about ten years ago :P
>>50859065

>>50859082

>>50859089

>>50859114
>>50859094
Honestly. I can't really help much because the general story of the game has been erased from my memory and our GM is a great Dune/Shirow fan so a huge part of the game went following more of the story/setting thematics than actually following the Fuzon rules or game mechanics (Fuzion is similar to Cyberpunk 2020 but uses 3d6 instead of D10 and skill scaling is something like skill 3 in fuzion is skill 10 in Cyberpunk 2020. Stats scale in similar sense) to letter so went with what made the most sense but I do remember the discussions we had. I was taking both Quantum Mechanics and Atomic and Molecular Physics courses in college during that time so much of the magic usage was mostly following what was sensible for the situation and what we thought was interesting subject from before mentioned courses. I can recall that the game had something to do with delivering a shipping manifest that was delivered to wrong destination for some reason and that then led to many different places. Can't really help more than this. Sorry.

THE PLOT SO FAR:
One sect of psycho-scientists, led by Dr. Hebime, wrote a super-powerful magical spell to swallow up and contain all the negative karma in the galaxy, so that the Greater Galactic Empire wouldn't fall.
But the rival sect, led by the Fuze clan, figured it was a bad idea, stole the spell, and used it to summon a god (Susanoo-Orbatos) who could destroy it.
But since the imperial troops were warned about the theft, they tried to arrest all members of the Fuze clan and retrieve the spell.
Seska, heiress of the Fuze clan, fled to her dad's temple after escaping the cops, and her dad took this opportunity to hide the spell by encrypting it onto his daughter's skin.
But the palace guards, led by Dr. Hebime, arrived to the temple at the same time, and killed Seska's dad before he could finish summoning Susanoo-Orbatos properly.
Fearing that Susanoo, who's the god of destruction and thunder, might go apeshit and destroy the world since he wasn't summoned properly, Seska's dad asks her to find the Red Seal Scrolls that will help her restrain Susanoo.
But Susanoo immediately sees the spell written on Seska's body and swallows her up for later use.
Dr. Hebime, unable to fight Susanoo, summons Songoku, an ape-god from the future, to kill him.
In order to fight off Songoku, Susanoo decides to spit out Seska, thinking that he's still got the spell within himself.
It is later revealed that not only does Seska still have the spell fused into her, but also that the spell was written wrong: instead of containing and dissolving bad karma, it will multiply it, and manifest itself as a super-powerful evil dragon.
And since Seska had the spell written on her, she's now the material catalyst of the dragon.
Susanoo has resurrected Seska's dad and is willing to help him, but Seska isn't aware of that and is still trying to find the scrolls, in order to restrain Susanoo. And now she's also possessed by the dragon.
SO BASICALLY EVERYONE FUCKED UP.
