Howdy: I want to make a Star Wars campaign where the roles are reversed (those who make up the Empire are rebels, and those who make up the rebels are the Empire) and this is what I've decided for the setting/campaign primer. I tried to make it like the opening of A New Hope to retain some familiarity. Let me know what you think.

>>Spaceport, Alderaan - Early Morning
>The port is overlooking a grey city rocked by artillery fire.
>Captain Antilles, flanked by Special Forces, stand in front of a CR90 Corvette.
>Captain Antilles watches a Landspeeder pull up, hard.
>The men inside jump out.
>The driver, Han Solo, shoves a bespectacled man in front of the Alliance Operative.
>"Galen Erso, I'm Alliance."
>Erso nods, nervous.
>Captain Antilles hands Solo an undisclosed amount of credits.
>Solo: "He wasn't alone."
>Captain Antilles, confused, spots the men they have hooded and handcuffed in the back.
>He turns to Erso.
>Antilles: "You don't get to bring friends."
>Erso: "They are not my friends." He says, shaken.
>Solo: "Don't worry, no charge for them."
>Antilles: "Why would I want them?"
>Solo: "They were trying to grab your prize."
>He smirks.
>"They work for the mercenary. The masked man."
>Antilles: "Vader?" He says, excitedly.
>Solo nods. Captain Antilles turns to his Special Forces.
>"Get 'em on board--I'll call it in."

>>Corvette, taking off towards the sunrise
>>Interior, loading bay
>The three hooded men kneel by the airlock, handcuffed.
>Captain Antilles grabs the first hooded man.
>"What are you doing in the middle of my operation?"
>The first hooded man says nothing. Captain Antilles pulls out a blaster.
>"The hyperspace jump I just filed with the Alliance lists me, my men, and Galen Erso here. But only one of you."
>Captain Antilles opens the airlock. Special Forces hang the first hooded out into the howling wind as they slowly but surely climb up into the atmosphere.
>Captain Antilles shouts above the wind.
>"FIRST ONE TO TALK GETS TO STAY ON MY SHIP!"
>He prods the cold blaster under the first hooded man's chin.
>"WHO PAID YOU TO GRAB GALEN ERSO?"
>Nothing. Captain Antilles fires out the open airlock and the Special Forces yank the first hooded man back in, clubbing him quiet.
>"HE DIDN'T FLY SO GOOD! WHO WANTS TO TRY NEXT?"
>Special Forces grab the second hooded man, hang him out of the airlock.
>"TELL ME ABOUT VADER! WHY DOES HE WEAR THE MASK?"
>The second hooded man man says nothing. Captain Antilles presses the gun to the man's hood. Nothing.
>Antilles: "A LOT OF LOYALTY FOR A SCOUNDREL!"
>The third hooded man speaks up.
>"Or perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man with a blaster before throwing him out of an airlock."

>Captain Antilles turns to the third hooded man. He closes the airlock.
>"Wiseguy, huh? At least you can talk. Who are you?"
>"We are luminous beings; not this crude matter. And no one cared who I was until I put on the mask..."
>Captain Antilles, wary, approaches the third hooded man and pulls off his hood, revealing a dark mask with a breathing apparatus.
>The eyes are cold and unfeeling. It is Vader.
>"Who we are does not matter. What matters is our plan."
>Captain Antilles looks on, almost fascinated.
>"If I pulled it off, would you die?"
>"It would be more powerful than you could ever imagine-"
>"You're a big guy."
>"... for you."
>Captain Antilles is unnerved at this point.
>"Was getting caught a part of your plan?"
>"Of course. Galen Erso refused our change of the deal in favor of yours. We had to know what he told you about us."
>Galen screams from the back, besides the Special Forces.
>"Nothing! I said nothing!"
>"Why not just ask him?"
>"He would not have told us."
>"You have methods."
>"Him I need healthy. You present no such problems."
>Captain Antilles laughs as do the Special Forces.

>>Space, well above the planet's atmosphere now.
>Interior, loading bay
>The Corvette is dwarfed by a Star Destroyer which looms over it, dangerously close.
>The ship lurches, but Captain Antilles doesn't seem to notice.
>"Well congratulations, you got yourselves caught. What's the next step of your master's plan?"
>"Crashing this ship..."
>From out of the Star Destroyer jump dozens of Death Troopers w/ jetpacks towards the Corvette, on either side.
>"... With no survivors."
>Storming from above, the Death Troopers shoot down the Special Forces with ease.
>They begin setting up shaped explosive charges all around the ship, including the loading bay, giving eachother thumbs up.
>After fighting with the pilot and destroying the controls, the Corvette begins tips forward.
>Like lightning, Vader breaks his restraints and grabs Captain Antilles by the throat.
>The entire ship upends, the artificial gravity has been turned off.
>Tumbling chaos - Special Forces falling - Vader cracks Captain Antilles neck and drops him into the back with a terminal thud.
>Galen Erso holds onto a strut to avoid falling backward: the ship shudders, trying to tear itself apart.
>Vader drops to where he is, stopping to grab him.
>The second hooded man, Star Killer, prepares to leave with them and the Death Troopers.
>Vader stops him.
>"Padawan. They expect one of us in the wreckage."
>Star Killer nods and unhooks himself.
>"Has there been an awakening?"
>Vader nods.
>"The Force rises."
>Vader affixes a breathing mask over Galen Erso's head while he panics and flails.
>"Calm down. Now is not the time for fear."
>Vader holds the detonator in his other hand.
>"That comes later."
>He presses it, and force-pushes them both up past the airlock and to the Star Destroyer above while the corvette tears itself apart bellow.

sounds kinda cool. might be ruined by stupid players.

>I tried to make it like the beginning of A New Hope

...by making it the beginning of Dark Knight Rises?
>>

Ignoring the baneposting, what purpose does this role reversal serves?

>I want to make a Star Wars campaign where the roles are reversed (those who make up the Empire are rebels, and those who make up the rebels are the Empire)

Why don't you just use the New Republic Era as your setting, then?
>>
>>50784730
I think the purpose IS baneposting.
>>
Because remaking A New Hope made such a wonderful movie last time
>>
>>50784730
Fuck the baneposting, lets try to think some shit up

I'll start
>keep the old republic as is
>chancellor Palpatine wants some more progressive reforms
(Not sure whether to make Trade Federation benevolent or keep them at greedy jewing.)
>princess Amidala tries to work her way up and seize leadership
>jedi are backing the old world order
>Anakin is in love with princess, but greatly favours Palpatine's ideals so he is torn between

>Anakin is the one to go to Kamino and get the command codes for the clone army
>Palpatine shows him the tyranny of the upper clss and hopelessness of the common man under the old republic, and as the Jedi supported it and now the clone armies would even moreso
>Anakin uses codes to issue Order 66
>probably no shanking youngins though. Either just banish them out of the temple or have the out of control clones do it.

>Amidala still has won the senate and has the power
>on the volcano planet, he tries to confront her and bring her to his side
>she reveals royal bitchness and he almost chokes a bitch, but Obi Wan interrupts
>Anakin still gets burned and rescued by Palps
>Amidala rules the Empire from a life support throne. Probably has it made of gold.
>Yoda barely survives the clones and duel with Palpatine, doesn't pay attention to his side winning and goes into hiding anyway

>Luke and Leia grow up in luxury on Empire side, but they need to find Yoda to get proper training
>Palps and Anakin hide on Tatooine. He bitches A LOT about sand getting into his cybernetics.

Ok so in positions before New Hope we have
>Amidala in palp's position; Luke & Leia in vader's.
>Sheev and Anakin are in ben's and luke's.
>Han Solo is an imperial agent on their trail; with the droids for company
>imperial heirs want to capture them and try them to sense for Yoda's presence to find him
>Greedo is the guy Sheev hires when he senses its time to bail off the planet
>>
>>50786647
(post got too long)

So, what about the plot?
Perhaps Sheev really has sensed Yoda's hidey hole and they now want to get to him to extinguish the Imperial hope of building a new jedi order with his help?

Main issue is that there aren't all that many important characters to roll with on the Sheev&Anakin side.
On the other hand, if it were to be used as proper tabletop campaign, this is just perfect to insert the PCs, with the two Darths playing mentor/plothook roles.

(oh and also hook to OP to show that it ain't just a thread of memeshitpost >>50783544 )
>>
Maybe focus on the stagnancy and control of the Jedi order compared the freedom of emotion and evolution of the Sith?
How can those who suppress their emotions, who cannot feel, truly act as agents of the Force when they deny everything about it that falls outside their narrow philosophy? Stuff like that.

Too much control can be tyrannical.

The inverted-setting can work well for a RPG campaign because of >>50786686 said.

And I loved the >>50786647 Queen Amidala Golden Throne.
