So, how many of you done a Slice of Life game?I personally enjoy them more
I really want to, but our DM manages to capture best of both worlds. We adventure but I am setting up for one cosy ass retirement. I think if everyday was just minor life activities it would grow old to play.
Although setting up and protecting a villiage of people is a game I really want to play.

We had an awesome thread on cozy watchtower campaign ideas a while back. Luckily I bookmarked it.

Pic unrelated aside from also being cozy and about a slice-of-life story

Generally, how do you run SoL campaign in PnP format? I used to have nice SoL experience once when I was LARPing, but I have a hard time to imagine this as a tabletop campaign.
Do you run it like a usual campaign, but with heavily toned down adventuring elements? Do you need to have a players with special mindset? Can you have a pure SoL experience or is it too boring that way?

>wake up
>look for treasure
>kill monsters
>punch that clock
>go to bar, have fun
> go to bed
>that was a good day, I wonder what places we can go tomorrow?

Holy fuck that's a cozy house.
I've sort of managed to run one, though it might not fully count.
>high school setting
>with supernatural elements like angels, demons, psychic powers, alchemy and stuff
It seems whenever I run it we get a fairly equal level of "high school slice of life" and "let's go stop the apocalypse"

I did something like that but the players were all undercover agents who investigated freaky shit going on at a school.

I imagine it can be fun as a supplement to adventuring/mystery solving/crime fighting or whatever, but that if it was only the slice of life stuff it would get pretty boring after a while.
The game I'm currently running for my players is semi-slice of life. It's in the zombony apocalypse, and there's a lot of downtime as they plot and hold out.
It's kinda nice.

I don't really do Slice of Life games, but I do leave plenty of time for the players to do whatever they want within the game.
Sometimes it involves exploring.
Sometimes it involves going in a town and having fun.
Sometimes it involves deciding to make an home base and decorate it/customize it as they want.
Did plenty of "beach episode" sessions.
I'm open with options as DM: it's all up to the players.

I use slice of life elements in order to set stakes for the unusual stuff and provide motivation. For instance my current campaign is Better Angels (you're demonically-possessed supervillains) and I use the suburban home lives of the characters as a way to a) explore how the characters trying to hold on to their morality and b) give them temptations to indulge in their demonic power. So, you might be a supervillain but your kid still needs their parent's support - and also there's a voice in your head saying you should probably flay that bully alive and pin his still-living body to the school gates for all to see.

Chuubo's?
I've played in a number of sandboxy games that have done a good job of making the setting an interesting and lively place that you want to settle into and explore.
