Just a couple ideas I think are fun and I would like to run and some input from people who would like to run in a campaign. Be gentle at first, she is still in early development.

>>50775560

Yes.

>>50775554

It looks like the basics are going to be a comfy Molthune setting, the PCs will be landed knights so gold and resources are not a problem. Instead they will be more concerned about keeping their village(s) happy and ensuring the safety of the peasants, doing courtly business, and mixing in some politics and intrigue. Molthune is a fairly volatile area and there is a lot that needs to be done to keep your lands and holdings safe.

I'd make a kitsune who used to be a fox in Fangwood and got adopted by a group of soldiers, then rose through the ranks of the Molthuni army after being awakened.
>>
>>50775717

I want to play a soldier under her command who was raised to knighthood himself, but still calls her "sir!"
>>
>>50775715

Nidal is allied with Cheliax. Maybe later in the game you might be strong enough to take on the Devils but not early on.
>>
>>50775673
If it's 3pp+gestalt might re-purpose Silvia if I don't get into RotJR, or at least her build. Otherwise, maybe some kind of tactician/noble themed Hedgewitch. I rather like the idea of being something like an intelligence officer who gets put in charge of a plot of land and has to learn to fight to protect his people. I also like the idea of being a loose cannon elite soldier sent away due to behavior, who has to learn to command and take care of those he needs to protect.

Depends on if we have to be martials or not; I have this tickling mental image of a warrior-mage (though not a magus, becuase the spell list isn't what I want); a brilliant tactician and knightly fellow who uses arcane spells to aid his allies and hamper his foes while putting his cunning mind to the tactics and strategy of victory.

Hey guys.

Looking to build a Caster Occultist. But I'd prefer to not pick up Necromancy or Conjuration- WELL more specifically I don't want to bother with summoned minions. If one can do something effective with Necro or Conj without summoning I'm not opposed to picking up the implements.

But reasonable sure that leaves me with some form of Controller or Blaster. Any good builds or suggestions for this?

Point buy 25, No 3rd party except Psionic books, starting at 5th going to 15th.

I want to build a character around [Profession (Cuddler)]. What's the best race/class combo?

>>
>>50776109
Professional cuddlers cuddle people of all sexes.

They make you feel relaxed, comforted and help you let down your guard. Because the character in question is a halfling, there's often baked goods involved, maybe some tobacco or alcohol (though this usually frowned upon by shelynites, caydenites are pretty keen on it) and probably the brushing of hair too.

>>50776107
It was sort of meant to be a gag character, but yeah, lets minmax the fuck out of this halfling cuddler, and we'll take brevoy bandit to swap profession to charisma based.
>>
>>50776165
I found reference to "rare cantrips" and this line confuses me:

"These cantrips are not legal in official organized play"

What even? Do people roll up characters and go score points based on role-playing to win prizes, what even?
>>
>>50776142
It's the best class for an animal lover, since you've got multiple pets, and it also sets up a backstory with him calling off the dogs on a fox hunt. Plus sets up for The Fox and the Hound with a happy ending.

A good alternative would be a paladin for the respect for rank.

You're not a halfling anymore son, you need wisdom.
level 4 human (oracle 1/shaman 1/vigilante 1/investigator 1)

>20 wisdom (18 base + 2 racial)

>+8 (inexplicable luck)
>+4 (legalistic curse)
>+4 (social grace)
>+3 (skill focus)
>+2 (trait)

+60 to Profession (Cuddler) at level 4

Probably a deific obedience that might help too.
>>
>>50776248
Let me put it this way: Even the most autistic people in /pfg/ despise PFS. It's a literal cesspool of people who no sane GM would allow into their group. And that's on top of all the other problems with it, like the GM's not being allowed to change anything...
>>
>>50776248
It's Paizo's endorsed method of playing their game.

It's shit.
>>
>>50776283
>>50776284
What's bad about it? How do they play?
>>
>>50776300
PFS is why shit like Jingasa and Bracers of Falcons Aim got nerfed, as well as asinine nerfs to Crane Wing and countless other bullshit errata.
>>
>>50776300
The PFS adventures are easy-tier shit that even the standard blaster wizard-healbot cleric-rogue-fighter party can take them with no issue and the minimal appearance of a challenge is met with heavy whining until it's nerfed into oblivion.
Due to this same whining, plenty of options that are decent but appear broken to these same players who don't have any game proficiency at all are banned.
>>
>>50776300
They don't understand how the game works, so it's a case of 'the nail that sticks out gets hammered down.' Make anything that an actually perform competently and they think it's OP and nerf it.
>>
>>50776283
I don't actually. I was the president of a TTRPG club in college and used PFS as a means of standardizing play for essentially the "masses" of people who would come in. It was quick and easy for when I didn't really care to craft a game.
>>
>>50776281
Thanks anon. I dont think I'm going to take it to that level of minmaxing, but I'll happily use more than a few of your things.
>>
>>50776300
Badly.

Like, the encounters are badly designed, and the balance adjusted by forum-screaming from clerics and wizards who get all triggered by some martial succeeding at anything at all because that reminds them of their time in highschool and pathfinder is supposed to be a safe space. (oh you poor naive fool you think I'm kidding don't you....)

So shitass encounters like "here are four goblins, one for every two of you" exist, but so do "see, this is a boss fight because this orc right, he's wearing full plate, and gets one attack a round, so he's hard to hit and hits hard back, which will be an epic battle".

Then someone uses, say, a gunslinger, goes "huh? what AC?" and we find out the orc boss had like 20HP.
*guess what gets nerfed next*.

But there's also encounters like "the party of level 5s encounters a pack of sirens, and anyone failing the instantaneous-on-them-spawning-within-range-like-in-old-console-RPGs will DC is immediately put under their control, leading to a one-round TPK if the party didn't have the specific full casters with these specific spells prepared ahead of time: ...."

And that's how you get shit like crane-wing monks nerfed (being able to block one melee attack per round total at the cost of some of your own is broken because the boss only attacked once despite having a BAB of like +8), and how insufferable neckbeards of the most stereotypical "it has to be pure rules" kind gather to play this stuff, and then proceed to - as we've discovered - dictate further errata based on how things went for them.

... let's not even talk about the optimization level. *forrest gump is not allowed to cast spells and his dex is negative to help him avoid hits in his leather armor because he's a bard* is basically the default expected of all except the party mage.

My last character has a Raven familiar named Edheren. He cursed in orcish constantly, was an alcoholic, and was generally a piece of shit.

My character came from a country where polygamy was acceptable and common (it was complicated), so he was looking to marrying two girls from the same family in fact.

Outside of roleplay, most of them don't do shit, unless you're creative.

Besides that, people who aren't as "good" at the game, or who are still getting used to it, are overwhelmed by the system, so they forget details like the cat in their pocket.

As a DM, I think it would just be funny if when they finally remember it you tell them "Mittens? You forgot him in that pit trap 3 sessions ago, man."

My character was actually a changeling.

His ancestry was:
>1/2 hag
>5/16 human
>3/16 orc
The orc didn't show through much.

He was the only son of the ruler of a mountainous nation called Edheren (his bird was named after it) that the Quinns has conquered some 800 years previous during The Conquest of the First Quinn (an event that the first Quinn conquered an enormous swath of land that eventually fell back to this one stretch of mountains). We were an ancient house in their twilight. The character's father was evil. My character was let go for some reason to make it to summer court, during which he garnered allies and possible marriages.

He was marrying into the country's military power. He was likely to marry the first daughter of two of the branch families. One of which was a druid who saw my character as an intelligent schemer and slightly unhinged madman bent on recreating the conquest of the first quinn, the other saw my character as a rock of stability despite their rather similar terrible family situations.

I was also courting other people, but they were the main two.

My character's titles, when he ascended to his throne (his father actually turned out to be a worm that walks, it was a long story), would have been:

Theobaldus Ignatius Quinn, Bearer of Crashing Dawn, Ruler of the Raven Throne, Lord Paramount of Edheren, Voice of the Father, The Raven's Folly, The Last Quinn.

The game ended after a year and a half of regular play, it was a wild ride.

Or alternatively, the Masked Identity feats/vigilante for the other side of a gestalt.

Just buggering around doing the vigilante do, and someone sees fit to make him a sort of honorary knight, but is then surprised when he actually shows up to claim it. He then delegates an amount of his duties to his 'aide' (read:his social identity).

Not sure how much that'd mesh with the game you got in mind, but it's a possibility.

Or I mean he could just be an Exposed vig I suppose. Gives up the secrecy for his knighthood, seeing it as an opportunity to better inspire JUSTICE.

>>50776694
So the polygamy was cultural bleed over from orcs. Orcish culture supports a odd merits based value system. Polygamy is common. After ruling over and living among orcs for centuries the Quinn family, also after marrying orcs into the family, became more orc like in culture.

The hag my character was birthed by had in fact been influencing the family for centuries as well. The Hag Mother I believe was in reference to The Crone, a figure in The Ballad of the First Quinn (a telling of the first quinn's tale). The Crone spoke of The Sun and Moon (sisters the first Quinn fell in love with and the reason for his conquest), and set in motion both the conquest and the first quinn's follow. As well as the creation of the guardian artifact of the family, Crashing Dawn.

The other influence on the family was that of Orenthal's Madness, also known by my character as That Which Lay in the Dark. In the back of the oldest family tomb there is a fissure, which when crawled through leads to a bottomless chamber filled with writhing maggots. Among the maggots was a malignant intelligence that had influenced the character's father (turned him into a Worm that Walks).

So a game between an ancient hag and ??? in the back of the tomb had torn the character's family apart for centuries

Hey Forrest, making Aether Rounds a free action breaks it, because it lets you use it on every attack.

It looks like you can use aether blade or rampage and then aether channel to get double pulse damage.

The elemental modulations should give the appropriate descriptor to the pulse.

Am I right that aether pulse starts out doing untyped damage?

I'm not too fond of the unarmed-only attacks of the self-pact. It seems to lock them into aether channel.

Is there a reason for the redundant wording in Overcharge Modulation? "no effects of the modulation beyond changes to the damage type or type of damage (if any) are applied"
>>
>>50777264

>making Aether Rounds a free action breaks it, because it lets you use it on every attack.
>It looks like you can use aether blade or rampage and then aether channel to get double pulse damage.

From the shape rules:
>"Shapes that are activated as free actions do not provoke attacks of opportunity for their activation (but might for their attacks). Such shapes can only be used once per round, and using one prevents the avowed from using the others."

>The elemental modulations should give the appropriate descriptor to the pulse.

That's a good idea and it slipped my mind. I'll make a note about it to add later.

>Am I right that aether pulse starts out doing untyped damage?
Yes.

>I'm not too fond of the unarmed-only attacks of the self-pact. It seems to lock them into aether channel.
Well, it encourages Aether Channel use. The attacks are extra regardless, though. Pick up an AoMF +1 at some point, perhaps, and use it alongside melee stuff.

>Is there a reason for the redundant wording in Overcharge Modulation? "no effects of the modulation beyond changes to the damage type or type of damage (if any) are applied"

"Fire" is a damage type.
"Nonlethal" is a type of damage.

[3.x intensifies]
>>
>>50777347
So that's a no then. The point I'm making is that, beyond homebrew stuff, I can't find anything that says polygamy is supported by any gods, nor anything that says it's not. The only thing that points to either is that fact that you don't really run into many (if any) polygamous relationships in APs or Modules, which suggests to me it's frowned upon
>>
>>50777272
>Is there a reason for the redundant wording in Overcharge Modulation? "no effects of the modulation beyond changes to the damage type or type of damage (if any) are applied"

It could probably be assumed that it happens in, say, primitive tribes or far-off areas. The Keleshite Empire, some of the Mwangi or Kellid tribes, technically the Ulfen (I think at least concubinage was okay with the norse) probably practice a form of it, but it's unlikely to be the norm.

Erastil would probably be okay with it, ironically, since his teachings go into great detail about keeping the family stable and secure, and his followers probably have enough rules in place to ensure things don't get too screwy.

Alright well, Google Chrome crashed on me once again for reasons unbeknownst to me, so Imma try and post this before it does it again:

I'm planning on using Spheres of Power and Psionics in the next game I run, and am planning on changing the fluff of Psionics extensively.

So, we have Arcane and Occult (renamed Psychic) magic (which is represented by Spheres of Power and the appropriate casting traditions). Then we have "Psychotreatment" (Psionics under a different name, which I will get to).

Arcane magic comes from studying in universities. Occult magic comes from rituals, dead people, and valuable things. Psychotreatment comes from a special metallic device surgically implanted in the base of someone's skull, which harnesses latent bodily energy to create effects that mimic those of Arcane/Occult magic (i.e Psionic Powers, of course). Instead of being as flexible as Arcane/Occult magic, Psychotreatment is divided into rigidly-defined powers that must be developed in the same way that someone develops a body muscle- which means most folks who get them also tend to be physically fit

Instead of psicrystals, you have "psychomorphic homunculi" which are artificial souls condensed into a small anthropomorphic figurines, which serve the same function as a psicrystal. Instead of Psicrowns, you have "psychotreatment modules" which are devices you hook into your Psychotreatment Implant. Instead of Dorjes, they're "Supplementary Psychotreatment Devices" which are fancy terms for wands that function on the same principle as, y'know, the actual psychotreatment stuff, and so on and so forth. Cognizance crystals are "organo-electric fuel", crystalline focus items are... still crystalline focus items but with a distinctly more "technical" name that makes them sound less "crystals and mindpowers" and more, I guess, Victorian, I suppose?

Those are just my thoughts on it. I'm not a fan of the crystals that permeate psionics and want to replace it with something else.
>>
>>50777564

No wonder Golarion is a joke even compared to the "Literally What" of Faerun, they've had 10 fucking years to develop their world and the only cool things to come out of it have nothing to do with their crappy ideologies.

I mean god damn, it's their preachiness that makes Wrath of the Righteous so *toxic* for the first book, it's basically a rainbow wonderland of the diverse CG homo-squad fighting against the uniform faceless organized oppression organization. Oh wait, that's just Amber Scott, a woman they hired to write their book and a woman that's gone on to ruin many other games with her self-proclaimed activism. The fact Paizo is willing to even hire someone like that speaks volumes about their competency as a gaming company.
>>

Was running some onslaught numbers. Physical being "per die", while it applies once it applies 1/die.

Level 20: Single 10d, composite 20d. Rapid/Haste/Burned +5
Omnistrike and a range-enhancer (5 or 6 of up to -10 for composites with a full action) used on Onslaught, Twinshot metakinesis on regulars.
Doubled Shots: Simple 30x, Composite 50x
Deadly Aim (Energy Aim) +8, Con +8 (4 energy)
Overflow: +12 for standards

Simple Omnistrike Energy: 30*3.5+12 = 117
Simple Standard-Twin Eng: 2(10d6+24) = 118

Simple Omnistrike Physical: 30*3.5+30+16 = 151
Simple Standard-Twin Phys: 2*(10d6+10+28)=146
So for simple blasts, as long as you've no equipment or other boosts improving things, it's very very close with standard kineticists marginally better at energy, and onslaughts a bit better at physical. Any equipment such as the gloves, diadem, etc will tip things in favor of the standard though.

Composite Energy Omnistrike: 50*3.5+12 = 187
Composite Energy TwinShot: 2*(20d6+24) = 188

Composite Physical Omnistrike: 50*3.5+50+16 = 241
Composite Physical TwinShot: 2*(20d6+20+28) = 236

We've got the same situation here.
Currently it seems the best setup for an onslaught is having less losses to something like epoch-blast when attempting to debilitate targets; the save penalty could stack to -16, and the damage reduction from the untyped damage forms is not as drastic as when using a standard kineticist.

Remaining burn is limited, so choose your substance/form combination carefully.

What I actually think it is, is that it just doesnt occur to them.

Like, I have my setting, and it didnt occur to me to include black people. Why? Well, im not black, nor am I exposed to the issues black people may face. It just didnt occur to me as something my setting needed to cover.

On the other hand, paizo has people on staff who will just NEVER SHUT UP about these sorts of things.

Ythink JJ woulda included all this 'muh trans' in his setting if not for certain people constantly harping on about it?

Personally my biggest beef with it is that it's the most sloppy-seconds of adventure locales.

EVERYWHERE has been done.
If you're somewhere, Elminster was there first. And maybe also Volo. Or Voldo. And the Harpers. And the characters from a handful of novels.

Found a +2 sword in that dungeon? You're happy? You wanna know why it was there?

BECAUSE WHEN THEY WERE LOOTING THE PLACE, THEY CHUCKED THAT +2 TO SAVE SOME CARRYING CAPACITY AND IT WAS JUST THAT WEAK AND UNIMPORTANT NOW TO THEM. Because that dungeon's been explored before.

And big realm problems? Problem: you ain't the one who could solve it, you're the one those people dumped it on.

>Uh, well, I COULD use one of my 18 high level spell slots for the day to solve this instantly, but I guess you guys need some XP and mystra's feeling frisky, so I leave it to you guys. Go get the staff of rain and the rainbow drop, mmkaay?

there's nothing that hasn't already fucked any location in faerun, and you're coming in afterwards.

I think Aether Rounds has become a bit too underwhelming with the uses-per-round nerf, especially compared to Aether Channel with thrown weapons - the latter can benefit off haste, rapid shot, and blinkback belt for four full aether pulse attacks at level 5, while Aether Rounds is stuck at one pulse attack until level 8.

In fact, that's probably even worse than Aether Barrage for most of the game.
>>

>Ythink JJ woulda included all this 'muh trans' in his setting if not for certain people constantly harping on about it?

Fuuuuuuuuck no, if JJ had his way we'd be getting spunky low-wisdom NPCs encouraging the party to go topple a monarchy while giving the party's rogue a blowjob.

Actually, JJ isn't that bad of a DM if I'm being honest, he just needs to learn to keep his CG boner in his pants once in a while.

>>
>>50777784
The save penalty is huge, but the damage is no better than a regular kineticist.

Actually, if you grab optional equipment such as the diadem (1pp), or the gloves and crown (only the ring is a bit better by a flat +10 in favor of omnistriking) then the twin-shot meta is beating out the omnistrike any given day of the week.

Only an esoteric epochblast comparison will skew things in favor of the onslaught; the -2 sizes really screwing the gains the regular kineticist would have gained. But that's precisely a case where the element you've chosen is meant to put a debuff on the guy.

The damage is actually a little on the low end, truth be told. These are setups for fairly optimized 20s here, not level 11s. It's still better than the original kineticist especially since you can twin-meta with actions instead of killing yourself, but the closeness was surprising; thought the onslaught would hit harder.
>>
>>50777896

Seriously, as much as we love to meme about JJ, he's really just some guy with kinks and the authority to insert them into a campaign. I did remove the +1 gained from the metakinecist replacements out of fear, each blast also got +1 damage before. I think I'll probably return that since the math is stacking up the way it is, and find something else to do for the save reduction. As a whole though, it's probably my favorite archetype in the book.

I think one of his issues is his personal investment in the setting, seeing as it was originally his original setting for orivate games. So he's trying to hold onto what he thinks it should be while sanitizing it for the public AND dealing with the rest of the crew wanting to shove shit in.

Eh,I am quite okay with it. There are a few really bad spots (Iomedae in Wrath of the Righteous),some more where I roll my eyes, but overall, I find it a decent D&D-like system.

I have done minor adjustments in the official campaigns I've run, but in most cases it was to make them more passable to me and my group. Not everyone will have the same taste.

Now and then I think almost everyone here actually enjoys Pathfinder, but just disses it because it is the expected thing to do.

I don't dislike the save penalty, but it might be too specific while being too high.

How about this: Since I'm a bit worried about the damage myself:

Every 5 hits nets you +2 damage (increased to +3 at 11 or 12 or so) to the total against the target, and the -1 to saves, to a maximum of -5

With a utility purchase (just like improved flurry) if you hit 10+ times you cause them to roll twice on the save just like flurry, but the save penalty is reduced by 2 if you force twin saves (so at ten hits that's two rolls at 0 or one roll at -2 and you'll need 35 instead of 25 total hits if you want two rolls at -5).

This makes the targeted strike ability more generally useful while also tipping damage a little, to allow damage to go a bit higher but without guaranteeing a higher floor against multiple targets (so it won't help murder mooks more)

Okay, so the following line has been added to onslaught blaster:

>For each two additional blasts beyond the first which targets the same creature, the target takes an additional +1 damage for energy blasts and an additional +3 damage for physical blasts.

I'm pretty sure this is the proper offset to energy/physical, because keeping them at the same for the amount of blasts that hit regardless of blast type would just make energy too good, and I'd rather go lower numbers on both the number needed to hit and the damage to make it more immediately rewarding.

He's not as good in a fight, but he's been around long enough to know a trap and ambush when he sees one--and his deep respect for his past has awakened some magical ability in him, letting him use those little objects of memory to support his fellow knights in battle even when his sword arm grows weak and his vision starts to blur?

Either the siege should've taken place later in the AP, or the first adventure should've been about low level mooks defending during a siege:

Missions would be recovering fallen soldiers, getting those damned imps off the walls, running desparate missions to the supply depots under enemy control, finding parts for the siege engine and repairing it, manning the siege engine against godzilla as he storms the front gates, rappeling down the sides of the walls, climbing up the back of godzilla while ballistas rek him from the front and stabbing him in the dick

Okay, some new text on targeted strike:

>Targeted Strike (Su) At 9th level, whenever the onslaught sniper uses their onslaught blast, for every five blasts that successfully hit the same creature, that creature takes a -1 penalty to all saving throws against substance infusions and form infusions applied to the kinetic blast. This penalty cannot exceed the onslaught sniper’s Constitution modifier.

So I actually have some problems with the balancing point for initiators, but not when it comes to offense. Their offensive side is not what I want to address in this post.

From both being a GM and a player what I have experienced and garnered from the rules is initiator's are absolutely fantastic on defense this is due to how counters are designed.

No matter what initiating class you are counters are around, and as implied they are predominately defense based. Any good initiator will be packing panic button counters. Because of the limited design space of counters and the over crowded market of disciplines a lot of counters step on each other's toes (in terms of "this helps with a save", "this helps with attacks", etc.). Therefore an initiator can easily have 2 counters for a particular defense and thus essentially never be without it (due to swift/move action recovery).

Now these defenses completely blow other class's defenses out of the water. This form of active by occasion defense is something most other classes do not have. A few spells do similar, like the bard's saving finale, but they are few and far between and tend to be both less powerful and more conditional.

So what I have seen is that in a mixed party of tier 3 paizo characters and initiators is the initiators (particularly some classes like the Warder) are FAR more durable. If I as a game master wish to threaten the initiator it will likely kill the tier 3 paizo characters, and if I want to threaten but not kill the tier 3 paizo characters it will not touch the initiator.

This is a design point I do not like about Path of War content. It is one of the issues I have. I have others. On a whole I do not like Path of War because while it adds fun options it does not, in my opinion, do much to address the larger issues.

Note: I am not talking about tiers here except as a way to list classes, I am talking about during combat issues. I do not want to talk about tiers or "what is a Wizard does X".

To be fair, Snake Style exists. My personal problem with counters is with the ones that can negate full attacks by moving the initiator out of range of the attack, either by putting them behind cover or just out of reach.
>>
>>50779008
Just attack them twice in one turn, wow

And secondly, swift actions are super important and often using up your immediate to counter a minor attack isn't worth using up your next swift. This runs direct counter to swift action recovery which you said is a problem.
>>
>>50779008

OverPOWered
>>
>>50779100
>Just attack them twice in one turn, wow
Again, this is not an exercise in "how to kill the initiator", one can do this easily.

It is about the level of defense between the initiator and the inquisitor being very different. The two attacks I use against the initiator will kill the magus twice as quickly or even more.

>And secondly, swift actions are super important and often using up your immediate to counter a minor attack isn't worth using up your next swift.

Did you not actually read my post. That is why I am saying the "by prescription" defense is superior. An initiator can use spellcraft to identify a spell as it is cast before deciding whether to try and counter it or not.

Even then there are counters that eliminate entire full attacks, make you immune to magic, move you out of range, and more. They at low levels are limited to single attacks, but by the time a third iterative attack and by the time quicken spell becomes viable they have moved away.

Simply saying "well since he can counter I shall target him with 2 spells a round" means nothing because it isn't about trying to defeat him. That's not the attitude we're talking about. It's the difference in balance between the defensive suites.
>>
>>50779072
True! However that is only able to negate one attack, where as counters often counter more than one or have extra powerful effects (like dazing the target).

I freaked a player out by explaining why my changeling character won't age normally and won't get pregnant.

You see, changelings are the daughters of hags and mortals (and it's important to remember these men could have been elves, humans, half-orcs, whatever). Now, every changeling hears "The Call" of her mother, and most PC changelings resist it. But the thing is, the Call that gets answered means the changeling turns into a hag. So....what happens if they don't?

They age normally, but they do not grow up. They start withering away at old age. they can't get pregaant and they never develop secondary sexual characteristics because they are neotenic - they are literally larval versions of a species which hags are the adults of.

He was so confused by why my character wasn't interested in sex with anyone, male or female. So I told him. He looked ill.

Can't imagine why.

Why would someone in a fantasy setting, particularly anyone with PC levels, be transexual? I mean not used to be transexual, but are still transexual. Because you can just buy a potion that turns you into the other sex. Or heck, you can pay a wizard to turn you into a fucking cat if it tickles your fancy.

Only poor people would suffer from being a transexual and not being able to do something about it. Even then it's 2kgp for an Elixer of Sex Shifting.

Someone with a profession with 2 ranks in it and let's say OH MY +1 wisdom mod can get that in:
>take 10

Ok, so 7 years. Let's see if he's buying a polymorph any object. It only cost 1200 then, and becoming another humanoid is almost always enough for permanent.

>1200/296=4.05

You gotta work for four years then you're a real girl/boy/fish/dog/etc. There ya go.

Why would anyone be impovishered in the real world? All you gotta do is work minimum wage and put all of your money into high interest rate compound interest investments and become a billionaire in a few days
>>
>>50779395
This is white privilege

Really though, 2k gold is pretty expensive, and there's a lot of shit unaccounted for. Child weddings, goblin raids fucking up your house, barbarian raids fucking up your place of work, etc.
>>
>>50779164
I agree, there's a clear power gap between initiator and non initiator martials, and I typically wouldn't run them both in the same party without houserules.

The question though isn't whether it's automatically bad for being different, but rather which way is healthier for the game.

Disparity isn't helpful for the game, but having active defense options that involve choices, and the ability to not get rocket tagged out, is good for the game.
>>
>>50779498
"Skilled labor" is a bare minimum. Unskilled labor is are ditch diggers, slaves, and just lifters. So yes, if we have a transexual ditch digger then they are stuck with it unless they go and learn a profession or decide to go start punching kobolds for laughs.

My main issue is a transexual adventurer makes no sense past level 2, as they can just afford to be changed into what ever.

>>50779500
They'd have to move to a big city in order to find a wizard to do the spell in the first place. I'd say double the time for unexpected costs. 8 years and you can be a fish.
>>
>>50779511
However the only folks that have this regularly are initiators. Some styles let you do it a bit and some spell do it a little, but really they are few and far between, and limited.
>>
>>50779511
Is monsters rocket tagging characters that common though? Most of the time it seems like monsters have fairly reduced damage output compared to PCs in exchange for inflated health pools and more defensive abilities.
>>
>>50779609
When you say rocket tag, what does that actually mean
I'm still trying to learn this game
>>
>>50779628
Rocket tag described mostly people with PC levels vs people with PC levels, or certain monsters. It's combat being ended quickly because offense massively outweigh defense.
>>
>>50779628
Okay take any FPS multiplayer. Like, Halo, everyone knows Halo.

Now, play with rocket-launchers-only (that IS an option you know).

Whoever shoots and hits first wins. Nothing else matters because the other guy is dead, who cares if you had some debuff with your hit?
>>
>>50779628
You ever play a match in Halo where everyone had rocket launchers, and whoever shot first won? Same concept.

Nope, it turns you into the gender you mentally identify as, which would mean the outies turn into innies and congratulations you can have babies!

Plus, since you haven't been popping eggs since you hit puberty you could probably remain fertile into your 50s.

>>50779290

Oh shush, we're talking /pfg/ revised rules, which would mean the hypothetical Transsexual paladin woman would be dashing and brave yet adorable or refreshingly forward in her advances. The point behind the character is introducing people - especially people who have never met a Transsexual before - to the idea that hey, just because she was not always a she does not mean you can't pound that puss and feel her enjoying every second of it.

I'm like 80% sure the potion explicitly states it changes you into the gender you mentally identify as, which is a fancy way of saying, "hey, player! What do you think this character should be?"

I know what you're wanting to do, and what it is is Samus. Well, pre-other-M Samus.

Complete badass professional death machine, tons of rep, and (though nowadays no one would consider that a big reveal), just happens to be female.

>>
>>50780044

I wasn't thinking Samus, but she fits what I was describing perfectly - yes, I think a character like that would be very important to do this.

The thing Paizo fails to understand is that you need to ease people into new ideas, it's like... Trying to go from hugging to bareback doggystyle. It just doesn't work that way. If Paizo really wanted people to consider a Transsexual character, they'd introduce her as a competent, prominent single character that the party is clearly meant to fall in love with, either as a "woah, she's cool!" or "yo I wanna bang her" or maybe even both. The "she was a he" thing should come up later, when they've grown to know each other and have a personal investment in seeing dat ass jiggle or help her be the best warrior she can be.

Going with an impersonal, "the transsexual is married to a lesbian" angle just makes it come across as alien - the average dudebro knows what a girl is, they even know what a lesbian is, but a transsexual married to a lesbian in some adorable "it's totally normal shut up" relationship just triggers people.

I recall some semirecent pixar movie I think? Did this.

Like, there was a jock character one of the female characters was wanting to go out with, and at the end of the movie brought up a movie. And the jock guy noted that he'd seen it, since his boyfriend loved chickflicks.

And that was IT.

Purely practical purposes, you can't fight when you're worried about breaking a heel and becoming hobbled. Unless you're a wizard, in which case it's fine.

Practical for the situation is my fetish.

ParaNorman did a really fucking good job of it, but I'd say you can even have them established as a couple right from the beginning and things will turn out right.

Like, consider Renly and Loras in Game of Thrones. They're gay. Very gay. Super gay - like, the gayest fucking characters in the show, and you find this out in the first four episodes. But the show *eases* you into it, they drop hints until eventually BAM, Loras is giving Renly a blowjob while they talk about politics and you're like, "oh this is kinky" rather than "what the fuck?"

People hate being preached to. Having your characters right from the onset be all cutsey-poo "we're lovers~!" Triggers disgust - not because people are homophobic, but because it's displaying a distinctly uncommon behavior as totally natural and normalized. It weirds people out. All but the most ardent bigots will be disgusted by homosexual displays of affection if you establish they're platonic lovers beforehand - heck, those same people will be weirded out by total strangers displaying heterosexual affection for each other!

And therein lies the true problem with Paizo and Amber Scott, doesn't it? They don't *get* people. They don't *understand* people. They've lived in their bubble for so long they think their way is the highway and everyone else are either hyper-racists or super idiots. To them, the mainstream society is some weird thing that needs to be introduced to their brand of social justice in full force, and that just does not WORK. Teachers do not delve into calculus when they need to teach algebra, you EASE. INTO. IT.

And in this case, easing into it would be a single, romanceable Transsexual hottie and the gay characters established as cool, radical badasses.

>And how does this actually happen in the AP

Sosiel and Aron are introduced almost immediately in Book 2 as a couple, and it's noted very early on that Aron was a drug addict until his lover came along to help him get on the straight and narrow.

Like, it doesn't specify needed displays of affection, but the characters are shoved into the party right away on the Queen's orders.
>>

>>50780544

But I just brought up why that's wrong, Paizo didn't try to ease the party into it. For all they cared, presenting a pair of flaming homos in the same breath they're introduced is the most natural thing in the world - but it's not.

It's not just the manner in which they're introduced (literally "HERE, HAVE THESE QUEERS") but the fact they're gay first and characterized second. You don't do that.

Swapping genders can be done for much cheaper than that potion. The cost of the effect is really only about 450ish gold. And 2250 is just the market price - it can be crafted for half that.
